Cabochon Hotel

"Take us back to your first impression of this hotel: What do you remember? The Cabochon is located at the very end of a long alley. The exterior architecture has 1920s-style Indo-Chinese motifs, with grand balconies stretching across the front. You'd never know it was built in 2012. Inside, the Library Bar is decorated with vintage Louis Vuitton steamer trunks, thick leather armchairs, and cases of oddities and antiques. The independent hotel owes its look to celebrated interior designer Eugene Yeh. Sounds classy. How about the digs—are they equally well thought out?In guest rooms, vintage taps meet modern amenities, polished marble floors, and premium linens. The furnishings will remind you of a Restoration Hardware catalog, with beautiful dove-gray accents and neutral tones. In a word: elegant. Oh, yes—we definitely love that. How about the F&B? What's on offer? The Thai Lao Yeh restaurant serves food from the Isaan region in Northern Thailand. Excellent. And the neighborhood—what's it like? The hotel is tucked down an alleyway in Thong-Lo, one of Bangkok's hottest nightlife/fashion/food districts. At the start of the alley, you'll find Quince, one of Bangkok's most lauded European restaurants and cocktail bars, as well as Sing Sing, an upscale cabaret nightclub. So much to see and do. Tell us what we missed—maybe it's a feature that really struck you. There's a sweet rooftop pool. Bottom line: Worth it? Why?Totally worth it." - Jenny Adams
