Peponi Hotel Lamu shared by @cntraveler says: ""For more than 50 years, the Peponi Hotel has been part of the fabric of Shela. The handsome seafront house was built in the 1930s for the Kenya Colonial Service district commissioner, a Major Henry Sharp, and sold in the 1960s to Aage Korschen and his wife, Wera, who turned it into a small hotel. Peponi, which is still in the same family, has expanded over the years and is known for its deep, colonnaded veranda overlooking the Lamu Channel and for hosting celebrities. Virtually all visitors to Lamu end up on Peponi's bougainvillea-shaded terrace at some point."" on Postcard
