"As a regular at the nearby Film Forum—which, if I had to choose, has the best repertory screenings in the whole damn city—I’ve often lamented the lack of a restaurant in the vicinity at which I can slip in and out for a quick, easy meal before or after a movie. Enter Revelie Luncheonette, where I will be doing exactly that going forward. Despite its name, the joint is open daily not just for lunch but also breakfast, dinner, and brunch at the weekend with the walk-in only seating flow bolstering the easy diner atmosphere. The burgers, both green chile ($21) and classic (a mere $17), are fabulous, as are the $13 chicken tenders, but if you want to spring for something above and beyond the duck confit comes in at an impossible-to-regret $34. Lubricate with any number of wines and beers (or cocktails that make use only of the former, no liquor, all $16) and you’ll marvel at how a dining experience can feel so free from vanity and chic at the same time.— Charlie Hobbs, editorial assistant" - CNT Editors
