"Two of the world’s top airlines—Emirates and Etihad—announced over the weekend that all of their passenger flights would be canceled following new travel restrictions in the United Arab Emirates, where both carriers are based. The UAE has suspended all inbound, outbound, and connecting flights through the country, effective for at least two weeks starting on March 25. The new restrictions will bring one of the world’s busiest airports, Dubai International Airport, where Emirates is based, to a virtual standstill. “As a global network airline, we find ourselves in a situation where we cannot viably operate passenger services until countries re-open their borders, and travel confidence returns,” Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates chairman and CEO, said in a statement, which also noted that the airlines’ cargo flights would continue. “As soon as things allow, we will reinstate our services.”"
