"Carmel was a frequent stomping ground for the young, rich, and famous in the 1930s and ’40s. Embrace that Hollywood Golden Age at Terry’s Lounge, located within a downtown boutique hotel once owned by the late Doris Day. Inside, there’s bar seating, a lounge, and a few dining tables—but the move is to head outside to the patio with a roaring fireplace and lots of dogs (Terry’s is pup-friendly inside and out). The menu is classic American—think perfectly briny, creamy caesar salads and french dip swimming in au jus. If you’re not interested in a full meal, ordering from the all-day bar menu featuring an eclectic mix of dishes, like marinara meatballs, Monterey Bay calamari, or short rib sliders is a great move." - Clara Hogan
