"Strudlhofstiege, Alsergrund by Maximilian Mauracher. The Strudlhofstiege is one of Vienna's most important Jugendstil - also known as Art Nouveau - buildings. In the center of the stairs there's a split fountain decorated with ornaments. Take the 58 steps and you get within seconds from Strudlhofgasse to Liechtensteinstraße, deeper in the ninth district. Thanks to a novel by Heimito von Doderer, "Die Strudlhofstiege oder Melzer und die Tiefe der Jahre" written in 1951, the stairs became world-famous. As soon as its dark, the place looks somehow Parisian and unbelievably romantic."

"Altes AKH, Alsergrund by Maximilian Mauracher. This area is usually full of students, because several university departments are located here. Every now and then students' parties are happening outdoor and in December there's a huge, kitschy christmas market. But you can also find a typical Austrian restaurant here: the Stiegl Ambulanz. Highly recommendable is the Wiener Schnitzel and some refreshing beer brewed in Austria."

"Paco Tapas, Alsergrund by Maximilian Mauracher. Owner Patrick Troger scored a coup with this Spanish Mecca. Paco Tapas serves a finest selection of Iberian wines and aromatic ham imported from the peninsula. The bar, which feels much more like a restaurant, is exquisitely furnished and it's exceptionally interesting to sit at the bar having a great view on the chefs' preparing the tapas not in a hidden kitchen but in front of the guests. Don't miss the wonderful Crema Catalana as dessert!"

"dazu Hofladen, Alsergrund by Maximilian Mauracher. The dazu hofladen sells regional foodstuff directly from the farmers and producers settled around Vienna. Their fresh-baked bread is overwhelming, especially combined with their vast selection of honey, jam, mustard or pastes. Their range of goods also includes fruits and vegetable, milk and dairy products. It's open on Fridays and Saturdays and definitely worth visiting."

"Sigmund-Freud-Park, Alsergrund by Maximilian Mauracher. Next to Vienna's university there's this park which is mostly crowded in summer, when students relocate their activities outdoor. Be there in the late afternoon and watch the sun set behind Votivkirche, which is actually one of the most outstanding neo-Gothic building in the world. Inside there are changing exhibitions and a bunch of pomp. Nevertheless, the area around this sacral masterpiece is full of young people and positive vibes."

"Votivkino, Alsergrund by Maximilian Mauracher. The Votivkino is one of Vienna's oldest cinemas presenting art-house films for more than 100 years now. The seating couldn't be comfier and if you're up for some independently produced motion pictures, this is definitely the right place. There are several lovely curated film festivals over the year and it's sister cinema, "De France", is located just around the corner in Vienna's first district."

The Coffee Pirates was one of the first third wave coffeeshops in Vienna and is still a pioneer when it comes to fresh roasted coffee and sweet delights. It's the perfect spot for a short timeout! "Jonas Reindl Coffee, Alsergrund by Maximilian Mauracher. Though a guy called "Jonas Reindl" is not existing, this café is especially authentic and charming. Maybe because the owner and his father collected the interior for years now - and some of the pieces are more than 100 years old. Their coffee - try the Aeropress brewed one - is excellent and they even offer coffee by changing guest roasters to guarantee variety. In spring and summer there are some seats outside, but just take your drink to go and find a spot in Sigmund-Freud-Park across the street."

"POC, Josefstadt by Bureau F. Excellent coffee and a relaxed atmosphere, all to be found in a small „3rd wave Coffee Bar.“ The tiny coffee shop was probably intended to be a Take Away shop for the students, despite the simple furnishing the room is so cosy and the mood is so relaxed that mostly every chair is taken. The filter coffee of the “3rd wave coffee bar” is one of the best in Vienna. Of course you can also buy excellent coffee beans, various supplies and get the best and friendliest advice of the owner Robert."

"Jumi, Josefstadt by Bureau F. White washed walls, concrete ground, big handmade wooden showcases and a disco ball on the ceiling. Who enters the small store, is astonished about the puristic Shabby Chic. The Swiss company Jumi, which has specialised on raw milk cheese, would like to bring the Viennese to the taste of unpasteurized milk. Who expects to buy the traditional assortment of Swiss cheese, will experience his yellow, white and blue surprise."

"Piaristenkirche, Josefstadt by Bureau F. The „Piaristenkirche Maria Treu“ is a baroque Roman Catholic parish church situated at the Jodek Finch place. The place is framed by the church and the former Piaristen monastery in which now a kinder garden, an elementary school and the federal high school of Vienna is situated. In the middle oft he cobblestone paved place you can find a baroque Marien’s column.
