Itsukushima Iroha (Miyajima, Hiroshima Prefecture) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Mere minutes from the city of Hiroshima is the island of Itsukushima, and it’s here, in the seaside town of Miyajima, that you’ll find Itsukushima Iroha, a modern interpretation of Japan’s timeless ryokan tradition. Many of the rooms and suites have views of the Seto Inland Sea, the peak of Mt. Misen, or both. The interiors are full of classic 20th-century design pieces from Europe and the United States, while the smallest details are subject to the same degree of craftsmanship from Japanese artisans. The restaurant is the site of a similar fusion, applying French techniques to the produce of Setouchi and seafood from the Seto Inland Sea." - Tablet Hotels

This has to be the nicest place we’ve ever stayed at. Can’t fault it at all and we were simply blown away. All options on the island are expensive but some looked just ok and this was really top class so it was so worth the bit extra cost. And to wake up in the morning on the island and explore it all by yourself was simply magic. The room was super spacious, bath was lovely and the authentic Ryokan-type experience of these rooms with yukata and traditional layout was fun. The onsen upstairs (outside) was incredible. Views out to the famous Torii gate while it was illuminated at night while in the bath was so cool. Staff were super friendly and very hospitable. Their English skills were excellent. Highly recommend

This hotel is highly recommended if you plan to stay at Miyajima overnight. Firstly, the service is excellent. We are upgraded to the largest room of the hotel which is more than 100m square. The design is very special with spectacular seaview. We have to check out at 12 noon but we are allowed to check out half hour later as we have lost our way in the mountain leading to some delay. Moreover, the dinner provided was excellent as well. Worth to try.

Our favorite stay of our 10 days in Japan! Amazing staff, wonderful amenities, and having time to explore the island before/after the crowds was truly magical. Our room had a fantastic view of the sea and the famous Torii gate. We would absolutely return here if we ever get back to Miyajima Island!

Great Ryokan especially for those who are new to Ryokans. Love the fit out of the rooms, the lounge, onsen and views to die for. It’s not cheap but if you’re going to stay on Miyajima to enjoy the peace and quiet once the day trippers have departed, this place is perfect.

Oddly, the name of this Ryokan as I knew it is Itsukushima Iroha, not Kurayado Iroha. I don't know why incorrectly named here but I checked the address and looked at the photos and it is definitely the same place! Anyway...a great decision to stay a night here, firstly because exploring the island is worth more than a day trip and secondly it's lovely accommodation, a fusion of modern and traditional Japanese hostelry. It's also well located on the 'main street' with shops and food outlets and a short stroll to the main shrine. I had a great view to the front towards the water and looking across to the mainland. The room was traditional ryokan in design but with luxury hotel standards - the en suite was superb. Traditional japanese robe and footwear was provided. The japanese fare for breakfast and dinner was excellent and well served. I don't remember being offered any western options, so if that's important to you then I would check in advance.

This hotel is truly magnificent. We were greeted by two very capable and hospitable women who made it a very nice welcome. The rooms and the view are beautiful. The restaurant was good. The onsen was good. The view was next level, as was the location. I highly recommend this hotel.

Delicious food! The calming atmosphere after a walk through the crowded path to Mt Misen and back was just what we needed ,) Lovely place!

We paid on average nearly 600€ per night including dinner and breakfast, so hopes for an excellent service and stay was high. Unfortunately this was not met et all. The rooms are ok (the room without dinner is jot that expensive), but the dinner experience was really low. Service was really amateur, it was cold because of an open door, we always needed to remind the staff. Communication was really bad although we communicated our food preferences far in advance. Service even forgot our deserts. The food was good, but sometimes cold. The team mentioned that snacks are included in the afternoon. The snacks were some coffee biscuits and a small bowl of nuts. During our stay most of the time nothing was stocked because the staff did not care. Same for breakfast. Although it was not busy at all, the staff did not check what was missing, eg no milk anymore, joghurt. If you are paying 300€ a night for food on top of the room rate, this is not acceptable and feels like a scam. The room was nice and very spacious. They also have a public bath on top. All in all, stay here if you want a nice room, don‘t stay here if you want good service during dinner.
