Baojue Temple… we came, we saw, we met the Buddha. 😄
Built in 1927 during the Japanese colonial period, it’s one of Taichung’s better-known temples — though let’s be honest, the headline act is the enormous laughing Buddha out front. He’s cheerful, golden and very ready for his close-up. 📸✨
Have we seen bigger Buddhas?
Yes.
Did that stop us trekking over?
Absolutely not. 😉
The temple itself is pleasant but relatively simple compared to some of Taiwan’s more ornate historic sites. There’s a striking red pagoda beside it and a calm courtyard, but you’re not spending hours here. This is more of a “pop in, admire the grin, soak up the vibe” kind of visit. 🏮
Still — it’s part of the city’s spiritual fabric and worth seeing if you’re temple-hopping in Taichung. And honestly, any day that involves a giant smiling Buddha is a decent day in our book. 😌
