This is the second brand of Mongtan, one of my favorite barbecue restaurants.
The restaurant specializes in Beef Sirloin, Grilled Beef Tripe and Beef Tongue.
* Grilled Beef Sirloin (42,000 KRW): The texture and flavor is good. As it is slightly marinated with pepper and salt, the beef goes well with chili and garlic sauce which is harmonious with the sweet and salty taste. It is very savory and must be a signature dish for this restaurant! I also tried Sogum Galbi (58,000) but I like this Beef Sirloin better!
* Marinated Tripe Intestine (32,000 KRW): It is well seasoned in a spicy sauce so it adds savory taste to the beef without greasy taste.
* Beef Tongue (43,000 KRW): It is my second time to try this ingredient. Contrary to my preconception, I am surprised by the excellent texture and flavor.
* Bean Paste Stew has deep, rich and savory taste
This restaurant is highly recommendable for Korean barbecue in Gangnam area. As it is clean and spacious, foreigners will like it too.
Staffs are kind and prices are moderate.
Chowon accepts phone reservation, unlike Mongtan who does not receive the reservation (only accepts walk-in guests, so long waiting line for a few hours is common scene at lunch or dinner pick time.)
There are rooms for private dining and valet parking available for comfortable visit.
