My husband and I traveled to the Lake District for a long weekend and stayed at Hilton's guest house on One Park Road. It was truly a wonderful stay! The house itself is very spacious and comfortable, with a lovely living room and a bright, welcoming breakfast room. Our bedroom was also very spacious, extremely clean, and comfortable throughout. The whole experience felt so much more personal and homey than staying in a hotel. Hilton was an exceptional host who personally welcomed us upon arrival and saw us off when we departed. He was incredibly thoughtful and attentive to all our needs during our stay. The breakfast was outstanding value - featuring fresh fruit, a great variety of breakfast essentials, and selections freshly cooked by Hilton himself. I would highly recommend One Park Road if you're looking for a restful place to unwind after long days of hiking in the Lake District. The combination of comfortable accommodations and Hilton's warm hospitality made our weekend truly special. <3

We enjoyed a long weekend at 1 Park Road, hosted by Hilton. We immediately felt welcomed by Hilton, who gave us lots of recommendations on places to visit/transportation. The room was cosy, clean and it had everything we needed. Breakfast was nice with lots of options available. The location of the B&B was great for us with lots of restaurants and cafes nearby in Windermere town & Bowness. We were able get to our hiking spots within a 30 minute drive of Grasmere & Glenridding. We would definitely recommend this B&B! Many thanks again Hilton, we hope to return soon.

Had a lovely 3 days here. My husband who is coeliac was very well looked after with his own toaster and cookies ! Hilton is a very kind and helpful host giving plenty of advice on buses and places to visit. The accommodation is great, large room comfortable bed and everything you could wish for for a great stay. Thank you for a wonderful visit

Lovely hotel! The location is perfect, on a quiet corner, but close to the centre of town. Room was beautiful and very clean and the breakfast was perfect every day! We stayed for 3 nights and every evening we sat on the frontdoor porch to wrap op the day, very peacefull and Hilton spoiled us with a little icecream every time 😉. He runs the place as a perfect gentleman!

The scenery around the Lake District is absolutely stunning, and based on the hotel’s impressive rating (9.7 at the time of booking), we were genuinely looking forward to a pleasant and comfortable stay. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. To begin with, the shower in Room 5 was in very poor condition — the water pressure was extremely low and, more importantly, the temperature fluctuated constantly, swinging from cold to scalding without warning. It made showering frustrating and uncomfortable. A friend staying in Room 4 said their shower was acceptable, so hopefully this issue was just limited to our room.Secondly, while we booked three consecutive nights, the weather in April after rain can be quite chilly in the Lake District. Unfortunately, the central heating in our room seemed to stop working around midnight — when we woke up cold at 1am, the radiators were lukewarm at best. We asked the host for a small electric heater, which they provided. The next day, we left the heater on while we went out for lunch, so the room would be warm when we returned. However, the host turned it off while we were out and told us we weren’t allowed to leave it on because “electricity is expensive.” This felt unreasonable — we booked the room for three nights and expected to be able to use basic appliances to ensure a minimum level of comfort. Utility costs should be part of the price, not passed on to guests indirectly like this. Finally, the host’s attitude was hard to interpret — consistently unfriendly, which made us feel unwelcome. We couldn’t help but wonder if our Asian appearance played a part. On the day of checkout, there was no flexibility at all. At exactly 11:00am, the host entered the room to start cleaning, even though we were still in the middle of packing. It was quite surprising (and honestly, a bit shocking) to see someone come in and begin changing the sheets while we were still inside, especially when just a few minutes of grace time would not have delayed anything for the next guest, but certainly affected our impression. All in all, if you advertise yourself as a hotel, you should operate to hotel standards. If you position yourself as a highly rated guesthouse or B&B, then please live up to the expectations that come with that score. Sadly, based on our experience, this place falls far short of the 9.7 rating it currently holds.

What a lovely stay at 1 Park Road. Easy access from Windermere railway station. Just take the left when exiting from the station, enter the town and fairly straight route to 1 Park road. Hilton is an excellent host. Right from providing the correct guidance, things to do, routes and room amenities, everything was meticulous. The room was excellent ,beautiful and had premium amenities. Amazing how Hilton manages everything so wonderfully by himself. The breakfast's cooked upon order and was wonderful with huge selection of breakfast choices. Do try Hilton's homemade jams, granola bars and yogurts.

We had the most fantastic long weekend at 1 Park Road. The house is immaculate with excellent attention to detail, very comfortable and in a great location. The scenery is spectacular and travelling by bus is incredibly easy from here, but Windermere itself has a great selection of pubs, cafes, shops and restaurants. Hilton is the most wonderful host, we had everything we needed and were very well looked after. He has a wealth of knowledge to share about the area and makes a delicious breakfast! I highly recommend staying here and we would love to return soon!

Staying at 1 Park Road Guesthouse was perhaps the best decision my husband and I made for our 2-night stay in the Lake District in August! 1 Park Road came highly recommended from one of our favorite guidebooks, Fodor's, and our experience exceeded our expectations. Windermere was the perfect "home base" for our first visit to the Lake District—quiet, charming, and a lovely refuge from some of the more bustling nearby areas. Hilton was a courteous and knowledgeable host, giving us wonderful recommendations to make the most of our short time here (we got through almost everything he suggested, including visits to the best gingerbread bakery, a walk through the lush landscape, and memorable spots for drinks and dinner). Hilton is also a fantastic cook; we really enjoyed breakfasts at the Guesthouse. They were a great way to start our days. And the Guesthouse itself is a beautiful space; the bed was comfortable, the windows large, the room spotless. I can't think of anything that could have gone better. It's absolutely clear how lovingly cared-for 1 Park Road is. We are grateful for our time there and hope to be back in the future!
