"Food Truck Festival This weekend, for the first time ever in Brussels , the Food Truck Festival is taking place. Today I spent almost all day there trying the food from the trucks lined up on the side of the main train station in Brussels. One of the trucks is offering insects and insect based food. Of course I had to try some of it cause how often does one eat grasshoppers? Verdict? (tastes just like chicken) :-D. They are dehydrated so very crunchy and made with soy so they feel like weird chips in your mouth. With the cherry tomato is actually really nice. Go try it if you are in the Brussels area. Tomorrow, all day, the trucks will be there waiting to amaze you with great and yes, weird food."

Yelp
Food: Wow, was I surprised on how good this place is! Their mussels were probably one of my favorite mussels I've eaten as they were so flavorful and tasty, especially on a cold, rainy day! Their rabbit stew was also very delicious and it paired so well with their fries. I'm usually not a big fan of fries, but I could not stop eating them. Service: We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to quickly accommodate us as we got there a bit before rush hour. However, I would definitely recommend making a reservation as it gets pretty busy, especially with locals. All the staff were very nice and attentive as well! Ambiance: They have several levels to accommodate more people. They have their main bar on the first floor, but you do have to hike up a bit of stairs to get to the restroom as there's a flight of narrow stairs, so be careful. I really enjoyed dining here as it felt like a very local spot. This restaurant was definitely the highlight of our trip to Brussels!

Yelp
This is hands down, the best food and service establishment. Let me tell you why. There's a reason why it's packed and people who walk through the doors have reservations. We were fortunate to stop in and a table was available. Mussels is a must here. Pair that with bread and a beer... enough said. Their beef stew dish, I can't pronounce it properly, is a hit. Party of four cleaned that plate quick. Their beef skewer is tender and juicy, chicken salad had good depth of flavors also. At the end of our meal, the friendly staff brought us một mint tea which was a nice surprise. Love how engaging and friendly the staff was. We will definitely come back the next time we're in town. Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
This place is fabulous! We arrived to Brussels on a Friday evening and walked over. We didn't have a reservation but waited about 20mins. They took our drink order to help the time. We weren't mad. The garlic scampi was amazingly yum. I had the garlic prawns but don't really care for penne. They let me swap it out for spaghetti no problem. My partner had the garlic mussels. He was buried in the pot until they were gone. The atmosphere is cozy and nice. The staff was polite and tolerant of our English-speaking limitations. I definitely recommend this place!!!

Yelp
By far my favorite meal of my trip. The staff were so friendly and attentive. Came here for dinner and ordered their mussels and beef stew. Both were outstandingly good. The mussels had no sand in them and the sauce was delicious. Perfect for dipping fries and the soft bread they gave. The beef stew was so good i wanted to order another plate. The beef was so tender and melt in your mouth. The gravy was so good with the fries. We also order the meatballs and a pasta. I would definitely recommend this restaurant as well as go back if im ever in Brussels.

Yelp
Nice cozy casual bistro. Super friendly staff with delicious comfort food. Near Metro station and a lovely park.

Ryan D.

Yelp
Service was wonderful. No reservation but that was fine and they led us to upstairs. Very friendly staff, very knowledgeable about the menu and I opted for the traditional beef stew. Food came out relatively fast and the food tasted wonderful, just wished the portion size was bigger. Lighting was good and the overall vibe of the restaurant was lively and welcoming. Good brussels restaurant and would definitely go again if in the area.

Krista C.

Yelp
Excellent. One of the best meals on my Europe trip. The food was delicious, but simple. The flavor was casually extraordinary. The staff was very friendly and welcoming even though we only spoke English. We sat outside a beautiful castle which is a museum. Such a wonderful experience.

Unicel F.

Yelp
Checked out this spot in Belgium as it was close to the train station. Huge spot and lots of space so reservations were not required. It was your typical pub with your typical selection of Belgium food and beer. Staff were friendly, and for the price, the food was reasonable. Definitely recommend the boiled mussels! And of course, the beer. Cheers!

Coob W.

Yelp
Overall 4.5/5. Belgian beer selection is great, and the mussels, fries and beef stew were delicious plates to share. Some of the most tender mussels I've ever had. Service is friendly, outdoor seating has a great view of a castle.

Marlon T.

Yelp
If you come here, it's for the atmosphere, service, decor and indeed the delicious food. The only drawback here is the prices, but obviously if a place is popular, they can raise their prices. I think the best things on the menu are the mussels and beer. I had the rabbit stew which was tasty, but a little too much for me. I can only eat maybe one rabbit leg before my mouth is saturated with the flavor, but when it comes to mussels with bread to soak up the sauce, I can go for miles! Parking can be hard to come by here, so plan accordingly. It's also not the nicest area so be smart/safe.

Mai L.

Yelp
After seeing this menu had a few options of mussels & frites - I had to come here. I ordered with the garlic cream sauce but there was a couple other choices too. It was a fair priced for as much as you got! Huge bucket!!! And it came with tasty fries that I dipped into the sauce. The service was great - they came by a couple times to empty out my shell dish. Very delicious and definitely recommend!

Frank A.

Yelp
Great food great service. The environment had a really cool vibe. I highly recommend this business.

Pete W.

Yelp
Only in Belgium for the day. Saw we could get mussels and frites here and they had good reviews. This place is awesome. Great outdoor seating right outside a castle and the food was delicious. Mussels, beef stew, and frites never tasted so good. They also have a nice selection of Belgium brews. Great service too.

Sally W.

Yelp
My friend and I had a weird craving for béarnaise so we decided to check out La Bistro as they had Salmon Béarnaise. The food was delicious and the service was so friendly!

John L.

Yelp
Le Bistro is the definition of a bistro. A casual neighborhood place to eat great food with an excellent beer menu and deserts! We came to Le Bistro because it was highly rated on both Yelp and Trip Advisor and immediately felt right at home. The staff treated us like regulars, cracking jokes and having fun from the start. The mussels and Flemish stew were both excellent. The Grimbergen cold and in proper glasses. The chocolate lava cake and ice cream the perfect finish. We'll be back. Alan made us promise.

Drew K.

Yelp
Le Bistro was a great place for us to have dinner our first night in Brussels. The mussels I had came out piping hot and definitely hit the spot. They also came with frites, because why not when in Belgium! The service was very friendly, and they brought out bread first and a shot of limoncello to finish the meal, both on the house. Highly recommend!

karl k.

Yelp
I've had the mussels. Very good. The ham knuckle was excellent. Friendly & fast service. The ambiance is very nice with that old time bistro decor. I will definitely be back.

Zen L.

Yelp
Good place To have a meal with friends, Scrumptious, fresh mussels, Friendly Service, Unique ambience

Karen P.

Yelp
Excellent food!! Great Service staff is friendly!! Ambiance Awesome place to have a nice drink!!

P B.

Yelp
Looked like a really old building from outside. Tempted inside. Only had a beer as was wandering around Brussels. V friendly/ helpful staff. Old building, well modernised. I'd recommend it. People on next table raving about the Mussels. So by that I'd say, have the Mussels

Pati C.

Yelp
What a wonderful dining experience!! The food is Fabulous and The Staff are just wonderful (I want to adopt them all) !! We were in Brussels for 10 days - Dec 22 thru Jan 2 - and went back several times. Our meals included the Hamburger ( Perfect!!), the Flemish Stew (first time I'd tried it. I absolutely recommend !!) the Chicken Skewer, Mussels in Cream, Garlic & white Wine (extra Onions!) and the Chefs Choice Shrimp ( TO. DIE. FOR!!). We will very likely return to the city for the sole purpose of returning to the wonderful little restaurant! PS.. did I mention how much we adored the staff?

Ashley M.

Yelp
Yummy food, exceedingly friendly and helpful staff, and kid friendly. We arrived on a busy Monday and took the option to sit outside by the heaters, we were offered to move indoors once it slowed but no need as we were warm. We had the goat cheese and honey salad which is a meal in itself, the stew, and of course, plenty of frites. Only challenge is the bathroom is a hike up and down stairs with no changing table, but that appears to be the norm in continental Europe. Will happily return.

Kate C.

Yelp
We loved our meal at Le Bistro last night! We got the garlic mussels and the beef stew. I was surprised by how much I liked the beef stew! The mussels were divine and probably my favorite of the entire trip. We made a reservation and I'm glad we did because the place was packed at 7:30 on a Monday night. We got a great table overlooking the tower across the street. Definitely make this place part of your trip to Brussels!

J M.

Yelp
I had the steak with fries and bearnaise sauce and shared a caesar salad. The steak was perfectly cooked and complimented well with the sauce and fries. The caesar salad was a sweeter sauce than im used to but was good, it came with strips of chicken standard. The staff was attentive and fun and complimented the atmosphere of the place which was raucous and loud. Great view of the street if you get terrace seating which they can accomodate. Despite it being loud we still could have good conversation among the table.

Olivia R.

Yelp
This place had incredible service. The servers were kind and prompt. The food was not the best in town. Their food lacked flavor. We ordered mussels, spaghetti and beef stew. The beef stew was our favorite item and pretty good!

Rob P.

Yelp
Great mussels and the pork knuckle with mustard sauce was awesome. 1) It is not the giant Bavarian pork knuckle and it is very good. 2) Don't let the mustard sauce fool you. It is not some heavy mustard taste but almost a gravy sauce with a touch of mustard. I wanted and 8 oz cup with a straw to go. Both me and my wife felt the mussels were tops and a bit better than those we had in most cafes in Paris. Then, the view makes it great for the gram. A castle!

Peter L.

Yelp
Nice place to savor some local food and drinks in a old, funky building in front of Porte de Hal. We started off with some shrimp croquettes, which were perfectly fried and creamy inside. As for entrees, both of us went for the moules frites and were not disappointed! There wasn't a bad mussel in the bunch, and the definitely get more bread to soak up all of the broth, although the fries are also tasty so plan on eating a lot of carbs. Wash it down with a local brew as well. The service is excellent here, and we really felt welcomed here. There is also an outdoor patio, which overlooks the old gate, and dining here during sun set is just beautiful.

Frances H.

Yelp
Service was excellent as was the food. Had the garlic shrimp pasta. Was there Saturday night by myself. Work trip. Excellent gin and tonic.

Carol D.

Yelp
The Goat cheese and Honey salad was absolutely delicious!. Great service from the entire staff. Damien our server was fantastic. Will definitely be back on my next trip to the city.

Brian W.

Yelp
The ambiance lives up to its promise, service is decent enough, and the menu is classic-- either classic Belgian or classic-what-a-tourist-expects-of-Belgium, I'm not sure. Pricing is reasonable, too. Moules frites, though, were more average than expected. Maybe it's because mussels are out of season? The food and wine actually were both quite forgettable; the wine I blame less as I more or less grabbed the house white to go with the mussels. Feels like I should go back to try more of the menu, but the mussels kind of dissuaded me from doing so.

Karel F.

Yelp
Amazing, delicious food, great patio ambiance. Service was great too. Surprising to find a French bistro in Santiago but this was fantastique!

Christopher C.

Yelp
Welcoming place great service! Just a fun place to be ! This restaurant is easy to find.. the food was good the staff and service was memorable! I would come back!

Zhana K.

Yelp
We loved everything about Le bistro. We are from New York and are spoiled with abundance of food, but the muscles we had at Bistro were the best we ever had! We also ordered the stew with beer sauce which was full of flavor and very tender. But the food wouldn't be as great without the amazing service we received. Our server, along with everyone else, are very attentive and constantly inquiring if you need anything. The owner should be very proud to have such an amazing staff! Would definitely recommend and if you ever in Brussels, this place is a must!!!

Josue L.

Yelp
Friendly service, relaxed ambiance and great food. We ordered a few items from the menu and we were all pleased with our meals. I had the goat cheese/honey salad, the garlic-cream-wine mussels and fries, everything was yummy, I will be going back on my visits to Brussels. Give it a try!!!

Bogdan S.

Yelp
I have been a loyal customer of this cleaning service for years, and I couldn't be happier. They consistently deliver exceptional results, leaving my home spotless. The cleaners are punctual, friendly, and go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of reliable cleaning services."

Yelp
The most fun we didn't expect to have! First, note that they take reservations and it's worth placing one, just in case. The manager and the wait staff really made the experience phenomenal! I've never seen waitstaff moving so quickly and dynamically - from tossing bottles up a flight of stairs to flying (like Mary Poppins) down the stairs - the restaurant does not advertise the free show, but it was impressive! Kostas (I hope I'm spelling this correctly) was our server - he was attentive, fun and - like everyone else - extremely efficient! The drinks and the food - amazing! We ordered the pork knuckle, the Flemish beef stew, and a waffle - delicious! At the end of dinner, Kostas and the manager brought us Limoncello. 10/10 - will definitely return next time I'm in Brussels!

Phi N.

Yelp
Started off our meal with the white wine mussels and garlic mussels. The garlic sauce was much better of the two-- probably the only item worthy of 4 star. The shrimp scampi and cod entrees were the next best items. The shrimp was draped in a butter sauce and the the cod had a cream sauce; both very heavy. I didn't care much for the ham knuckle and the beef was way too sweet for my liking. They ran out of bread, but it would have been nice to dip into the sauces. I was too full to try any of the desserts but my friends seemed to enjoy them. Staff was friendly and had excellent personalities, but service was extremely slow. Not because the waiter wasn't hustling though. He just had too many tables to handle-- he was constantly running in and out. To get our orders in, appetizers, entrees, and dessert out, it took a little over 2.5 hours. And forget asking for anything extra in between... You'd have to ask like 10 different employees to get what you needs (cups, bread, utensils, ordering more, etc...)

Yelp
The best restaurant I've been to in a while!!! All the servers were wonderful, and one of them spoke English soooo well (he was super cute too!!!) They open their kitchen at 11am though so go a little later if you want food. We went around 1030 because we thought they open at ten, so we had to wait for a bit to get food. We got beer while we waited though so it's all good :p They have a good selection of beer. Tried 3 of 5 types they have and all three were amazing. Rose beer was my favorite!! Very fruity and pretty :) The cute server suggested us rabbit dish so we tried it and it was good. It was kind of like chicken? I didn't like it as much as other ppl in my party. The sauce was goos and frites were amazing though. We also tried the famous Belgian mussels dish and it was amazing!!! You have a choice of regular or garlic. We got the garlic one and it was so good. They give you complimentary bread so dip it in the mussel soup, it's so yummy! They have very cute interior, good food, good beer, and amazing service. I literally had nothing more to ask for. Definitely recommend this place!

Michael C.

Yelp
Just amazing! Walked here from the Brussels Zuid station. Across the street from the castle. Make a reservation if you're going to have dinner. They are packed and they have two stories of tables. Big bar and menu. Ambiance is great, close tables make for interesting conversation with seat mates! I had the mussels and they were delicious! The staff is friendly and attentive! My server took my phone and charged it while I ate. Dessert was a wonderful Waffle with ice cream and whipped cream. Yum! Don't miss this place when you're in Brussels.

Patrick Z.

Yelp
We stopped by this spot for a late snack/dinner one night and were so happy we did. We ordered a bunch of drinks, a few appetizers as well as a couple of buckets of muscles. Literally everything we ordered were delicious. Everything came out very quickly. The waiters were super friendly, personable, and helpful. There's also a SUPER HUGE AWESOME CASTLE THING ACROSS THE STREET. One of the waiters explained that at one point, this was the main gate to get in and out of the city. It was really cool to have this view while we ate. While we sat outside, the inside was super cool. It reminded me of what a Vegas theme bar wanted to be. It was cozy. It was local. It was inviting. A great spot to have a drink and some food outside.

Huw R.

Yelp
Great authentic Belgian brasserie/bistro. Try the Flemish beef stew and the waffles. Cuisine, service, atmosphere all top-notch.

John T.

Yelp
Mussels and mussels and mussels! You have to order the mussels here. You get a side of fries and some bread so you're set. I tried the Flemish stew, rabbit and pork knuckle. Although all three were good, the mussels were the real star. Perfectly steamed with a briny broth. You can easily take down 2 lots of mussels on your own!

Robert A.

Yelp
MUSSELS!!! For us it was mussels in Brussels, and my goodness they were delicious. This was our first meal in Belgium and what an introduction it was. Just a short walk from our hotel, we went there hungry and were not disappointed. Every adult in our group got the mussels with garlic and cream and it was everything we could have ever wanted. On top of that, the beer in Belgium is hard to beat, and they have plenty of great options there. And it's air conditioned to boot!!! If you're in Brussels, this is a must try.

Mike B.

Yelp
Researched this place on yelp, having been disappointed by the restaurant we went to the previous night based on our guide book. We were very pleased with Le Bistro. The Grimbergen was great, with notes of malt and dark fruit. I had the entrecôte, since that cut is hard to come by back home. It was tender and delicious, and the sear from the flame was obvious. Even so, the herb butter still managed to add something. I also had the chance to taste the steak rossini, topped with foie gra and a sauce of port and foie gra. The sauce imparted a rich, meaty flavor. I highly recommend either dish.

Jason K.

Yelp
Summary: Great food. Fun servers. Pretty attentive, but had to flag servers a couple of times because hopping place. Great stew and Penne Arrabiatta. Great beer, and bonus digestion mint tea at the end was very nice. My wife and I had just arrived in Belgium and were looking for some well-rated food nearby when we discovered Le Bistro. We arrived at around 7pm after a short walk and were seated immediately, even though we had no reservations and the whole outside patio was full. Throughout the dinner, more and more tables were added on to the patio area as crowds continued to grow. As advised by travel vlogs online, as soon as we got the menus we took a look to decide on both drinks and food, then placed our order for both the next time a server came by. He was quick to return with our beers, and then a few minutes later the food was at our table (shockingly fast). I ordered the Flemish beef stew with french fries, and my wife ordered the Penne Arrabiatta extra spicy. My stew contained tender pieces of beef in a fantastic savory gravy, and my wife's pasta was well prepared with excellent flavors and textures. It was delicious food with excellent quality. Throughout the meal, the servers came by multiple times to check on us and ask if everything was good. We did have to flag them down to get the check and pay it, but aside from that, they helped make this meal a fantastic start to our stay. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Back in Brussels from the states and 2nd time back at Le Bistro. Delicious! Cheese croquets, Caprese (with a side of balsamic vinegar to drizzle on top), mussels with cream/garlic/wine, lambic beer. I would highly recommend them all!

Kevin C.

Yelp
We went to the museum across the street yesterday afternoon and popped in this place for lunch. Atmosphere was quite lively. I ordered the Fleming beef stew which came with fries. It actually was pretty good despite the fact that I had ordered the same dish from a different joint the night before. The meat was certainly tender and the sauce is alluring. My wife got the specials open fried fish which she liked a lot. My son got the lasagna which he was so so on. Food wise we give it a 3. Service was spectacular though and especially at the end, we got treated to free hot mint tea and my son got a cookie. Totally didn't expect this so that was nice. I do recommend it to people looking for a place around there. Lastly they have free wifi.

Christine H.

Yelp
It was a busy Monday night. The restaurant was packed. We waited about 10 minutes and was able to get a table. The three of us ordered the garlic and white wine mussel, meatballs, and beef stew to share. The mussels were excellent. They were cooked perfectly and the seasoning was delightful. The meatballs were nothing special. The meat was slightly dry. The beef stew was well seasoned. The sauce tasted great with the fries. The service was excellent. All of the staff was extra friendly. We enjoyed our experience.

Omid D.

Yelp
Hands down the best service I've ever had in Europe! Great food, great service!!!! A must go when in Brussels!

Rory C.

Yelp
-Great and friendly service. Staff was open to explain everything in detail since we did not understand the menu. -Loved the rustic/cozy environment -the food was very good. We tried the carbonade (Flemish stew) in three different location and thought the one we had here was the best one. The meat is so so tender. It's a stew with french fries; nothing special but worth trying since it's their local dish. -have the mussels. I loved the fresh taste and it's worth the price. A gigantic portion - we also had garlic shrimp. It super tasty, a little oily, but it was very good. -attached in the review is a picture. Carbonade, mussels, shrimp and one coke: 55€. We think it's worth it since the mussels dish was gigantic and it also came with an additional French fries.
