11 Parks in Atlanta You'll Want to Visit

"Stone Mountain Park is Georgia's most visited attraction and its 3,200 acres hold wide appeal, thanks to myriad activities. The centerpiece is the mountain itself, the world’s largest piece of exposed granite, from the top of which you can see up to 45 miles on a clear day. You can take an easy one-mile hike up to the top or explore more than 15 miles of wooded trails around the park. If you're just there to see a particular element of the park (the Old Grist Mill? Farmyard Petting Zoo? SkyHike Adventure Course? Historic Square's collection of antebellum homes?), consult the map and park as close as possible—this place is massive." - Jennifer Bradley Franklin

Yelp
If you're looking for a fantastic day out with the family, Stone Mountain Park is the place to be! Our visit was made even more special thanks to Ronnie, who went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing time. Ronnie gave us a comprehensive rundown of every event, attraction, and activity in the park with a smile that never wavered. His personable and friendly demeanor made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. One of the highlights of our visit was the Dino Exhibit. It's an absolute must-see for kids and families, offering an educational and fun experience that captures the imagination of children and adults alike. The lifelike dinosaurs and interactive displays kept our little ones entertained for hours. The splash pad is now open, and it's a perfect way to cool off on a hot day. Watching our kids splash around and enjoy themselves was a joy, and it's great to see such a well-maintained and fun area for them to play in. Considering the vast array of attractions and activities, getting a membership is a no-brainer. It allows you to enjoy everything the park has to offer without any additional cost, making it a fantastic value for families who love adventure and fun. From the scenic train ride to hiking trails, and seasonal events, a membership ensures you get the most out of each visit. Overall, Stone Mountain Park is a gem, and Ronnie's exceptional service truly made our visit memorable. If you're planning a trip, don't miss out on the Dino Exhibit, the splash pad, and definitely consider getting a membership. Stone Mountain Park is a place where wonderful memories are made, and we can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Friends, this breaks my heart to post this review. I used to work at the park WAY back in my early teens & it was a happening place! Always full of activities, festivals, attractions & great people watching. You couldn't find a parking spot anywhere, and nobody was mad about it. Walkers all over, dog walkers, baby strolers, low rider trucks... those were the times. I came on Saturday morning with my entire family- 9 of us. There around 11 am to have lunch at the country restaurant inside Crossroads... not open, infact NOTHING was open. We found someone wandering around who said nothing opens until 2 pm. WHAT?! The sky lift sold all day/everything passes for $42 each +\-. Bought those & hung out at the top of the mtn for a while. Ate crap food & the staff was just not there... cafe at the skylift during lunch, 1 employee. Out of just about all soda & what was there was flat. Food only OK, but took a LONG time to get it. We made it to the Cross Roads to ride the train, but the line was way back to the lawn. We had to go to another event out of the park so left. That $42 got us NOTHING MUCH! The 4D movie was SO CUTE, but the spritz & shakes were lacking!! No more glass blowing shop, the candy shop is a joke now, Memorial Hall no longer has a restaurant or gift shop, the lawn has VIP chairs & obtrusive lighting polls for the no longer patriotic laser show... no more antique car museum. Is there a petting zoo anymore? Not sure about the plantation, country store, Duck Ride, Boat, etc. we didn't have time to go all the way around. Just so sad from what we did see. Corporate has done nothing for this once amazing park. Come, enjoy the day, climb the mountain, etc. lots to still see. Just check the web before you come so you are aware of times & open attractions, etc. - be prepared. We were completely & utterly sad!!

Yelp
The Christmas village and overall experience was terrible...wasted money..wish I had to back...we were told to h as for the tickets ready on our phone...when we arrived we had to stand in line for 40 minutes to scan and then have the tickets printed...very disappointed and understaffed....the whole experience had slid completely dropped off....highly not recommend...no way

Yelp
I had the ultimate experience at Stone Mountain Park during our visit in November 2024 with family! From start to finish, everything was so much fun. The Gondola experience offered stunning views, and the train ride was a great way to see the park from a different perspective. It was an unforgettable day, and I highly recommend these attractions for anyone visiting the park!

Yelp
It has been so many years since we went to Stone Mountain and with our out of town guests, this was the only major attraction open on Thanksgiving until 9PM. The parking and entry fee is also $20 a car or $40 for an annual pass. We got there closer to 6:30 and found out we had to purchase tickets in order to walk around the park and go on the attractions. They were about $40, but they do have an educator discount which brought down our prices to about $20 a person! We didn't have enough time to go on the train or play mini golf since we wanted to catch the Drone and laser show, so we decided to go to the 4D theater, saw Princess Aurora's show and the Northern Lights 3D exhibit. I really liked how decorative the park was and had plenty of picture opportunities. We ended at the drone show which started late, but was totally worth it! The laser show started right after which reminded me of the ones that my family went to a lot years ago. We decided to head back before the show ended to beat the traffic out. Overall, it made me reminisce when I was younger and was so happy to visit!

Yelp
This place is beautiful. The retreat center and meeting shelter was perfect and the staff was very hospitable. We loved our stay there. The trail was very nice as well

Yelp
We were visiting relatives in the Atlanta suburbs, and they suggested going to Stone Mountain Park (SMP) for a hike. Stone Mountain is a quartz monzonite dome monadnock and the site of SMP. It's 16 miles east of Atlanta, and is the most visited tourist site in Georgia. Nestled in 3200 acres of natural beauty, SMP features something for everyone -- outdoor recreational activities (hiking, fishing, kayaking, picnicking, playing at the playground), historic buildings, family-friendly attractions (such as the drone light show and summit sky-ride), and a variety of on-site lodging options (including camping). Daily parking (Oct 1, 2023) was $20, but our relatives had an annual pass that they had paid $40 for. If you arrive on foot or bike, there's no fee. Optional attraction tickets are extra at $39.99 for adults; less for kids. We were there to hike up the 1.1 mile (each direction) "Walk Up Trail". AllTrails rates it as a "moderate" trail with an elevation gain of about 700'. You're basically following yellow blazes (which are painted on the smooth granite) up the face of the mountain. It has a consistent incline throughout, with steeper sections closer to the top. One section has a challenging grade that is steeper than 20%, but there are metal handrails to help in this section. I recommend wearing shoes with good tread as the granite can be slippery when wet and/or in areas with sand or pine needles. At the top, you're rewarded with a 360-degree view, including Atlanta in the distance. You then have to decide whether to walk back down or to take the sky-ride ($). We walked but it's great to have options. This is NOT a quiet walk in the woods! We were there on a Sunday in early October, and it was a VERY popular place to be. People of all ages were walking up and down the trail, and some were blaring music as they went. One woman was jump-roping, and some were picnicking, on top. We saw one guy who went up and down at least twice (in the time it took us to do it once!) The temperatures and humidity were perfect to be outside. While I prefer a less crowded place to hike, I'd love to return to this specific hike some day -- to see if it's less crowded on a weekday or to see the sunrise or sunset from the top. I'd also like to check out SMP's other hikes and other attractions.

Yelp
Sky Ride to top of Stone Mountain is excellent. I recommend the Sky Ride if you have children. The hike to the top is 1 mile and fun for preteens and older. I recommend the hike in cooler months. We were disappointed with the train ride. The train was already full when we arrived at 2:00 for a 2:20 departure. Next train was at 3:20. We didn't want to wait in line an hour with small kids. We had purchased the activities ticket and wasted money.

Yelp
Stone Mountain Park is famous for its world's largest exposed granite outcrop--is a natural wonder turned Confederate monument. It's also great for BBQ and family events. It has 2 major trails: Cherokee Trail which surrounds the mountain as a loop trail passing through iconic covered bridge, historic mills and railway, while the Walk Up Trail is short but steep specially at the end to climb up to the top. The autumn season at the park is colorful, both trails are worth to hike to experience the best of the mountain. Watching sunset and remote Atlana silhouette at the top can be the highlight of the day.
google avatar

Breana H.

Yelp
We visited today to walk the 5 mile Cherokee trail around the base of the mountain. (We used connecting trails from the trail head.) The trail was beautiful! We've walked it before on a sunny day, today it was overcast with light rain. There is plenty of tree coverage on most of the trail, so we opted not to put on our rain coats and just enjoy our time in nature. There are a few sections of the trail that have eroded over the years making it a bit tricky to get around a few of the tree roots. There is one spot where part of a metal pole is sticking out of the ground. It's marked with a fluorescent ribbon but I feel like it could easily be completely removed to avoid having a tripping hazard near the water. The Mill is the perfect picture location along the trail as well as a few other locations a little bit off-path for resting. (Stones overlooking the water, ledges facing the waterfalls.) It took us about 2.5 hrs to complete the 5 mile hike which included the few stops we took to rest. I wish I would've snapped a few more photos but my battery life was a bit low. We plan to come back very soon as there are more trails we look forward to adventuring!

Yelp
Great day spending time at the Stone Mountain Park. We hiked the mile up the mountain and also enjoyed the hike back down. They have a sky rail if you would not want to do the hike. The Memorial is amazing!

Yelp
We planned a trip to Stone Mountain with a group of friends who also have young children. We researched the dates the sky ride attraction would be open and were excited we would be able to spend the day there and hike up to then ride the sky ride down. With young ones in mind, we purchased our tickets online to avoid lines. We arrived at the park and focused on the map and best place to park. We arrived at Dino land to allow kids to use the toilet and to start our hike. They gave us the biggest wrist bands and insisted the little ones wear them at all times. After a few melt downs, we took them off the little ones. Great now time to feed the kids and go up the mountain to ride the sky ride down. Nope! We were told the sky ride was down! It's about $40 a ticket for adults and $35 for kids but they wouldn't refund us. Our friends are from out of town and are a family of 5! Needless to say we weren't going up the mountain with little ones with no easy way down or up. Guest service members were rude. Dino land had just opened and the kids weren't interested so it was a bust.

Yelp
My family and I visited Stone Mountain for the first time a couple weeks ago and we had a great visit. Unfortunately, the Skyride was down for maintenance, so we did not get to visit the top of the mountain because some of our family have mobility issues. We walked part way up the mountain and hiked around the nature trail with our toddler son. The nature trail had a nice stream winding through it, several trees and plants, and plaques educating us about the local flora and fauna. The educational center provided a lot of interesting information and even a replica of the carving on the mountain. We explored the quarry and learned about the places that the quartz was used. We also checked out the covered bridge and the grist mill, which provided interesting glimpses back into the past. The park was interesting, but many of the activities there were closed. I think that we will visit the park again in the spring or summer to enjoy the mini golf, train, and the greenery. Rating from F to A+++, I give it an A+++.

Yelp
Stayed at the campground because of proximity to the Silver Comet Trail. We tootled about the place and took the sky ride to the top of the mountain. You can also walk the mile up and back down for free, or pay $20 per person, round trip. The view from the top was nice and the topography was like being on an alien planet. We weren't aware that the relief carved in the side is the largest confederate memorial in the South until we got to the top. That tripped me out that Georgia's citizens pay to maintain this monument.

Yelp
I still enjoyed the parks here. The $20 a car entrance fee and plus the entrance fee to the park can be reduced with coupons if you buy it early. Or just $5 for laser show. Come early for a Picnic spot parking fills up quickly. Portable potty was surprisingly clean to use. So definitely bring your wipes and hand sanitizer. Beside what the pass history of the park. This place is still a fun family spot to enjoy the scenic view on top the mountain. By tram or walking up the mountain. And some activities for kids. Laser shows starts at 9:30pm with a few fireworks. Chairs and blankets needed for the evening.

Lei D.

Yelp
The view of the mountain was beautiful, walking up it was even more. But we came specifically for the original show that's been showing since 1983. We drove 8 hours just to come see it. The website for the show didn't tell us anything about the show being discontinued, so kind of a waste of time. And there were roaches everywhere.

Yelp
Stone Mountain Park rocks! The lift to the top gives you stunning views and a real mountain high. Pro tip: bring a jacket. The breeze up there can turn you into a popsicle faster than you can say "granite"!

Yelp
A production value of zero! Come on guys, this could've been infinitely better! Stayed for the night's drone and laser show - do not waste your time! The music quality is really poor and you cannot clearly make out the words spoken or sung. Then the echo off the mountain completely distorts all the sound so all you hear is a constant source of bass mumbling jumbo. The content and arrangement of the material was horrible. There is no rhythm or flow, The video quality is poor at best because the side of the mountain with the carvings is used. The few images you're able to make out are severely distorted making it highly disappointing. The fireworks are ok thanks to the echo but their occasional use leaves you feeling there is only enough for a few charges so they're awkwardly forced into the show. It seemed as if the Memorial Day show was designed in choreographed by blundering amateurs. It was an embarrassment to those who serve(d), they deserved so much more of a show. Overall it's a disappointing and a pathetic form of entertainment. Save your money and spend your time without crying babies and crowds!! I requested my money back!

Yelp
Awesome historical moment. Friday nights are cool there with the laser shows & music. Train rides and just a bunch of neat stuff.

Yelp
Great area to hike, workout or attend family-friendly events. Things you should know: I. PARKING Admission is $20 for a day but an annual pass is $40! The lots are very easy to find ~ you even get a map upon entry. If there's an event going on, police officers will help guide you to find an available space. Everything about parking is easy and convenient. II. SERVICE They maintain the park well. The bathrooms are eh; what you would expect of a recreational area in the USA. For the folks that need a joint-friendly approach to Stone Mountain, there is a trolli that rides to the top. III. QUALITY Worth the $40! I mean, if you have guests come in town and this is a go-to show for you, then you'll easily go here more than 2× a year, right? Worth the $40 then. Also if you have a family, you can easily justify the fee with Christmas, fall, Halloween festivals, etc. Shoot, I don't even have kids and I plan on attending some events. IV. CAPACITY Stone mountain is poppin'. People are walking around left and right and it's great energy to feed off of!

Yelp
There are so many things to do at this park that I never realized. I have always gone to Stone Mountain to hike up the mountain, but for this visit, went to see the laser light show. Great, family friendly event. There was some people out there that were smoking which was not appreciated as this area clearly states no smoking, but I was not going to let them ruin the experience. The lights show was fun and has elements of bubbles, fog, and fireworks, and some great music through several genres. For anyone who hasn't been, you do have to pay entry into the park and it is $20 for a day pass or $40 for an annual pass. The annual pass is for one year from the time of purchase, so much better bang for your buck if you plan on going back even just one more time in the year. Such a fun thing to do that everyone in the family can enjoy.

Yelp
Thanks to prior Yelp reviews, I was alerted to find Groupon tickets for our visit. We only had about 3 hours to spend at Stone Mountain Park that day so I was grateful to save some money! Our tickets on Groupon were $25 each, but I should've saved screenshots in advance. Due to flaky cell signal at the ticket window, I held up the queue for a few extra minutes trying to load the QR codes. Note, parking is $20 per vehicle, separate from admission. We realized we weren't going to have enough time to do both the Summit Skyride & the Scenic Railroad so we only rode the incline. The train runs every 40 minutes & we'd just missed a boarding, and the line for the Summit Skyride incline was really long. So we prioritized. I thoroughly enjoyed the Summit Skyride trolley up the side of Stone Mountain, and the perspective from the top was amazing! Even though the weather was hazy & windy & misty, seeing the broad expanse of Atlanta and northern Georgia from this altitude was fantastic. We also had a great view of the carving on our trip back down the mountain. Coincidentally, our visit on Saturday 11/12/2022 was the first day of the Stone Mountain Christmas festivities. That was fun to see, especially since the weather was very chilly that afternoon, but seemed rather early in the season. Regardless, the lights & decorations were fantastic even in daylight. And the Christmas music was more pop than classic, which I appreciated. Stone Mountain Park is definitely an all-day experience if you want to see & do everything. Though the park does seem to offer more activities for families with children, there was plenty to do for an older couple like us. Also, the park has several hiking trails: https://www.stonemountainpark.com/maps/

Alisa G.

Yelp
Worst trip I've ever had. Overpriced tickets was just the beginning. After purchasing Christmas village tickets and kicking in extra for VIP and Magic Flight to North Pole I expected at least one of the seven people attending to have a little magic - even the toddler hated it and he lives for this stuff. Let me start with my hotel reservation in the park. I get an email the day before our visit that our reservation was moved from The Inn which is walking distance to the attractions to the Evergreen Resort ten minutes away by car. No big deal - we decide the room was a definite upgrade after looking at both properties. However I'm writing this review at 6:30am from my bed because there is an alarm clock constantly going off in the room that cannot be stopped. It was set by the resort and cannot be unplugged. It's like that horror movie Christine. On to the disaster they call Christmas village. The $30 trip to the North Pole never happened because it was broken but not before we stood in line for two hours before anyone said uhhh we might not be able to get it fixed tonight. Ok no big deal we will go to the Christmas village and turn the day around. Nope more nonsense after waiting in lines the rest of the night until I gave up and left. Lines to get your tickets to enter the village after purchasing online and even having a bar code on my phone. Long lines at the train which is mostly pitch black ride after dark. VIP access was supposed to give you front of the line access but no. Long lines for everything and very little of interest. Gift shops and food are also astronomical and not very good quality. The laser show looked like it might have been ok but I saw very little of it as I was running to get out of this terrible experience. My advice if you go - come at 7:30pm for the 8:20pm laser show and leave 20 minutes later to get to your off property hotel. The front desk phone number at 6:30am is busy because I'm sure everyone is trying to figure out how to shut this alarm off.

Yelp
Stone Mountain is a beautiful place, go here all the time to see the nature or just bike around. There's so much stuff to do that you're not gonna be disappointed.
google avatar

Dani C.

Yelp
Second time here. Road the train (the play was kinda lame with the dinosaurs, I feel like there is room for improvement there) but the LIGHT SHOW,...OMG absolutely amazing. Love the history of this place and all the information plaques telling about the different states during the civil war.
google avatar

Richard D.

Yelp
Great park. Take the cable car to the top and look at the view. I wouldn't really advise coming here in the hotter months, unless you go early morning when it's cooler. If you're in Atlanta, it's one of the top attractions, so you should definitely come. Parking is easy.
google avatar

Yelp
I have been wanting to check out Stone Mountain for a while and finally got to do it. Parking is a hefty $20 bucks just to get in. There are different trail paths within the park. I just did the walk up trail to the top of the mountain. It was a 1 mile hike up. It did kick my butt and had to stop a few times during the hike. Easier going down the mountain then up. Once you get to the top there is a nice view of the city. I wouldn't come back again, there are other places to hike that are free!
google avatar

Reshonda S.

Yelp
What a great outing with the family! On the official website, I couldn't find specific information about hiking up Stone Mountain or parking costs; however, there was lots of information about attractions and the park in general (on the website). Upon arriving, it was $20 for parking and $40 for annual parking (for frequent visitors). Signs will direct you to the mountain area; however, there's an area of parking right at the bottom/ start of Stone Mountain. Whereas, another parking area is located at the sky tram station. If you prefer to hike up and have a scenic view down, choose your parking based on the sky tram (although it's a 1 mile walk to the start of the mountain area). The hike was challenging and very steep; therefore, be prepared for a true workout. Other than that, it was a great experience.

Dan-Diana C.

Yelp
We used to bring our kids here. Park is declining! We went on a Friday in July and a lot of the shops and attractions closed! The laser show was NOT kid friendly. Nothing about it was well done. The songs overpowered by car noise since the theme is trip across us. Our grandchildren were done with watching after 10 minutes. Please make this attraction fun again! I heard others people say they won't be back!

Yelp
I'll change this to five stars when they do something about the names of the streets (and I'll just leave that there). Otherwise, I love this place. I come for one reason: to park at the boat launch and kayak on the lake. As I come multiple times a month all year, I more than get my money's worth from my annual pass (which pays for itself after only your second visit). So, for those of you that kayak and paddleboard: This place is fantastic, especially on days you can't get on a river. Yes, there are other lakes, but one advantage of "SMP" is that there are no motorized boats allowed (well, kinda sorta...fishing boats with extremely low-HP engines are apparently allowed, but they are never an issue). There's enough distance and variety in routes to keep it interesting, even for somebody like me that might go as often as twice a week. End to end, it's a four-mile round-trip, and you can easily make that longer by holding the coastline, going around islands, etc. My only suggestion is to monitor the wind forecasts, because it can quickly be a grueling journey when the winds pickup (and for some reason, tend to be crosswinds that can make paddling to or from the launch a drag).

Glenn I.

Yelp
This used to be a great experience until the state earned it over to a private company. We recently went to the pumpkin festival after 5:30 on a Friday and we were told that with my membership the second person would be $20 after 530 when we got to, the ticket office we were told that was incorrect and that the lower price didn't take affect until after eight. We ended up having to pay $29 as we wander through the village. We asked why almost nothing was open and we were told that they really only open everything up on Saturday and Sunday. Decorating was OK in the village, but the drone show didn't come close to comparing to the old laser show. They didn't even highlight the carving once. The prices for everything have become ridiculous. without a membership, it would've cost $100 for two people. This is one time when the state did a much better job than the private entity.

Yelp
What a hike! I wish we had more time to explore the grounds. We went on a Sunday afternoon and surprisingly it wasn't too busy but the sun was OUT. There is plenty to do here but we only came for the hike. We followed the yellow trail up and a 1/4 way up we stopped at a shaded rest area. If you have bad knees and/or balance, I suggest you skip the hike because it is a bit dangerous, especially the second half where the walk gets steep and there is only a single railing for support. Once you get to the top the view is beautiful. There's also a visitor center at the top with concessions. If you're looking for a quick bite, I suggest you pass on the pretzels and dipping dots; complete waste of money. What's great is you do have the option to take a tram up and down the mountain if you cannot take the hike. The drawback is it's only good for round trips. It's not in your best interest to walk up Stone Mountain then take the tram since you would have to walk ~2 miles to get back to your vehicle which most likely is at the beginning of the hiking trail. The hike each way is only 1 mile each way and it's a lot easier to come down.

Yelp
Stone Mountain Georgia is the most visited tourist attraction in Georgia. If you want to know what to do in Georgia one of the most popular things to do in Atlanta is to see Stone Mountain Park which has the largest bas-relief carving in the world. Stone Mountain Park also offers many other attractions like the Dinosaur Explore attraction that features animatronic dinosaurs. Climbing to the top of Stone Mountain is a very popular challenge with locals and tourists. My video review of Stone Mountain Park is here: https://youtu.be/jzXvEwVtsr0

Yelp
Great park to take a hike. It wasn't too hard, but it was uphill, a mile up and down. Great views from the top.

Yelp
Heard about this laser show and the high cost to park. It was a bit of hassle getting to this place, and parking and my expectations were set high. When the laser show started it was 1980's resolution type graphics and almost fell asleep. The music was really nice and had lots of bass, the temperature was in the 70's. Not sure if I would come back unless it was to partake in some day time activities.

Yelp
Excellent experience. Went with friends on May 6, 2023 and hiked the Mountain. Absolutely breathtaking views! Wasn't sure if I could do it, but made it all the way! Beautiful day! Park is beautiful snd lots of parking! Walking path's everywhere, great for exercise. Sky ride is awesome! Special events are great and the drone show is fantastic, don't miss it! Thank you Lindy and Marley Follow our fulltime Vanlife adventures on instagram #tinyvanbiglife

Yelp
Thr park itself is a great stop if you are in the area. It is a ways out of the city so if you are a tourist depending on ride share, expect a more expensive ride. On top of that, the park charges $5 each way for drop off and pick up which I think is awful. It's the end of a long day and we had drivers turning down the trip because of it and the gate employees told them to call us and tell us to walk!!! This is a long distance at almost 10pm!! Also all the restraunts were closed so all in all from downtown Atlanta, it cost $120 in Lyft..plus $10..plus $180 in admission plus $60 for food court chicken strips and fries for a group of 4

We were visiting Atlanta and wanted some hiking and saw Stone Mountain Park nearby. Just a short 15-20 minute Uber ride without traffic. The hike itself is about 2.2 miles round trip and my Apple Watch clocked it at 693ft elevation gain. Pretty good for just 1 mile up. For the most part the hike is super easy! The last 5 minutes were the hard part where they have a little chain stair to help you. We came the day before the winter advisory storm and it was super cold and windy at the top. Accessible for all levels of hikers!

Yelp
$20 for single day, regular car. Simple map points out where to park if hiking to top of mountain. Plenty of parking on workdays. Parked in the trail parking lot and walked up after using the restroom at the base. Clean enough for the amount of people using it. Do NOT take people who are not used to walking, hate walking or cannot climb well. Also, small children, under age 5, not really a good idea for them. Got up to the top in about :24 and rested twice by chatting or taking photos. The views along the way up, down and at the top! WOW! I understand that three Confederate leaders are celebrated here but the trails and the view about them :) Small children and elderly even iff they took the skyway up it is hard walking around at the top. Uneven stone...mountain top is up there. There is a shop at the top and you can buy chips and soda if needed. Bathrooms as well. We also went to see the100 year old covered ridge, took a quick photo since there were 6 workers there. The area with the Confederate soldier statue also had quotes from Northern leaders. Interesting area. Along with the area with the big three Confederate leaders cut away on the stone face. My favorite area had to be the Grist Mill. Trees, running water, quiet, photographic...families would love it. Plus a few picnic tables to sit at. The lake is right behind it as well. Go, enjoy it for what it is. Got 6+ miles in of walking :)

Yelp
Stone Mountain Park is a really neat place and great area in the Atlanta suburbs. Stone Mountain Park has activities for all ages including sightseeing, golf, history, stone carvings, skyride, lakes, grist mill, etc. Am scratching the surface here, please see Stone Mountain Park website for latest details. My review will discuss hiking, as this is the primary activity we partake in. There are many trails. The summit (walk up) trail is difficult short hike on the yellow arrows with a rest stop along the way. The Cherokee trail is relatively flat blazed white trail around Stone Mountain. The Kings Island trail is flat and blazed purple. The trail to Convention center is connector trails. There are several other trails, please stop at Confederate Hall to get a free trail map of the park and visit the displays here. We did the summit trail, Cherokee trail, Kings Island trail, and Convention center trail today and it was a good workout of about 10 miles. Great views from the top. Great trail makers on the trails. This is one of our favorites. See my pics illustrating this. Parking is relatively expensive here (currently $20), which makes sense if you are a family planning on doing activities at the park. But we are strong hikers and park in Stone Mountain Village, which is about a 15 minute walk from Stone Mountain Park. In any case, definitely worth a stop here.

Yelp
Would love to give this place a 5 stars ! But this is my second time visiting. I'm from New York and my parents live in Georgia. Long story short the employee that dealt with us seem like she hated her job or was hungry or sum. First of you could've tell she was annoyed with us trynna renew our membership. We're Caribbean so my parents have an accent so I guess she think she could've treated us however. She was not professional nor accommodating. When people are spewing their money you require some type of respect from the establishment. We were trynna renew our membership at the skyline entrance. She was not welcoming and rude the way she spoke . She did the transaction now and didn't even mention she's waiting for her manager to print the card . Just had us standing there like a fool .Another 20mims went by we ask what are we waiting for . Another 20miNs went by she gets annoyed at us . Now it's half an hour now waiting to get the damn card . She was rude and had an attitude kept being on her phone and just laughed at us . My parents then said they're gonna go to all the way to the other side of the park to get the card print . She then shove the receipt to them and said it won't make a difference and just straight up laughed in our face . I'm from New York if I had a drink in my had I'd throw it in her face . But thank goodness I got a good picture that shows her attitude. Also it was definitely racism because she wasn't speaking to the white folks like that's . And yes black people can be racist as well . Shawty was more concern on her phone and how her fake ass hair looked . I was gonna post it up on tik tok but ion got time for that attention . We then took the situation else where . The girl that helped us I forgot her name but she just seem to wanted to compensate us to get outta her face. She was indeed helpful but didn't seem to care much about the complaint as much but overall she did help us and was nice .We even had to ask her for my one day pass because the same rude girl didn't even bother to give us that either ......besides all of this we had a good time and the other employees at the park was so nice . Walking around their waving at us and greeting us . The type of atmosphere they set was great . Everyone else was so kind and polite.

Yelp
I had never heard of Stone Mountain prior to our trip to Georgia this summer. The name made it seem quite interesting so I came here with an open mind. The biggest surprise was that it was more than a large stone carving, as there was much more to do while here. Stone Mountain is located maybe 15 miles outside of central Atlanta. As you enter the park, you'll see people jogging, biking, and focusing on their every day fitness. Pay $20 to enter the park and follow the road down to Stone Mountain. The parking lot was a decent size but I could definitely see it being super busy when the weather is cooperating. On the day that we came here, it was raining so parking wasn't an issue. So Stone Mountain is this majestic outcrop perfectly shaped with smooth surfaces all over. You'll see some carvings on the face of the mountain as you walk to the lookout point from below. My question was, what's going on at the top of that mountain? Well, I was about to find out! You'll have to buy either a one way or round trip ticket to ride the sky rail up to the top of the mountain. It's like a little trolley that slowly takes you up on a lift, providing you with great views of Atlanta and its surrounding neighborhoods. When you get to the top, there's a small building that you'll walk into before exiting to take a walk on top of the mountain. There's a restroom and snack bar for your convenience. The views are breathtaking from above. All of the greenery is just so pretty and you can see for miles and miles. It just happened to be raining on the day that we came here so the surface was very slippery! Some people opted to take sky tram back down, while others hiked down on the trail. It's nice to know that you can get a great workout by hiking up or down the side of Stone Mountain! There is a little train that takes you on a ride around the park. Unfortunately, it was closed when we were here. However, they have campgrounds for people that want to spend some quality time with nature in Georgia! During the holidays, they have laser projections on the face of the mountain with fireworks and so on! I'm telling you, this place is awesome! Like I already mentioned, I really didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised as this was a great place to come to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. We definitely want to come back for one of their fireworks shows in the near future. I'm so happy that we were able to check this place out!

Yelp
I absolutely love to hang out at this park with my family. Whether it's watching the fireworks in the month of July or attending the 1st annual Lunar New Year event! We had a BLAST. There was dragon and lion parade, various ethnic food, and, of course, boba tea. The entire event was whimsical. It was like strolling in downtown Disneyland where you can eat or shop for stuff. The fireworks and drone shows were spectacular. I had a giant eggroll for dinner from The Boyz Club. I love how Lunar New Years was celebrating all of the Asian cultures and brought all kinds of people there! We will definitely attend this event again next year! Hooray for unity and celebrating one another!

Yelp
The views in Stone Mountain Park were breathtaking. There are so many trails and areas to visit. I do recommend driving to the different trails because the park is huge and they are all very spaced out. The mountain is very impressive in person! Unfortunately, the majority of the attractions and restaurants were closed, including the train. Kayaks require reservation and we're fully booked for the duration of our trip. Parking is $20 and $40 for the whole year which is a great deal.

Yelp
$20 entry fee. walk throughout the park. Lots of trails and trees. The birds chirping also stood out for us. Bring your bike for a real workout. If I lived up here I would get the year pass.

Yelp
This review is for a day hike only. My friend and I got to the park at 10:30 am on Saturday, 1/8/2022. It took us about 1:15 to go up and back down (about 2.5 miles total), including pausing to catch our breath and take pictures. It was pretty cold, so it wasn't as packed as I've seen in the summer. I would definitely recommend going when it's colder because it's not as crowded and it's also not as bad of a hike when I didn't feel like I was going to pass out from the heat. The views of the city are great on a clear day. Dogs aren't allowed to go to on the Walk Up Trail, but I believe they're allowed on other trails throughout the park. Stone Mountain has a terrible history, most obviously with the horrible men carved into the mountain itself. I was very disappointed to see the confederate flag flying. While Stone Mountain has long been a memorial to the confederacy, it does not need to continue to be that way. I would recommend hiking Stone Mountain, but really wish they would get their lives together with the whole confederacy stuff. It's embarrassing.

Yelp
Stone Mountain is a great place to visit in Georgia! There are lots of activities to do, but of course you can't miss climbing the hunk of exposed granite. There is a $20 daily entrance fee into the park, and you can get a car pass for re-entry. I have especially loved the times when I climbed up to watch the sunrise. The hike up takes about 45 minutes if you go slow like me, so it's really not too long of a hike. Even in the early mornings, there are a good amount of people going up and down the mountain, and it seems like there are even some regulars. The walk itself starts off smooth and easy and progressively gets harder and steeper as you go up. It can be a little dangerous at times so take your time going up and down. Towards the end of the hike there is a long handrail for the steepest section of the climb. Be careful here since the ground can be slippery and definitely use the handrail. The sun rises on the other side of the mountain, so after you climb up, keep walking straight over to the other side. Note that their bathrooms at the top don't open until later though, and if it's a windy day then it will be super windy at the top of the mountain. Have fun!
