Yelp
Not exactly sure where all the negative reviews are coming from but I haven't had fairly okay experiences the few times I've shopped here. They have a pretty extensive selection of Eastern European goods like their nearby competitors Tashkent and Samarkand. I think they may have slightly more selection than those two. They even sell toys and other random items that those two don't. They also have a box office for a performance space where apparently shows/concerts take place. Is there anything place doesn't have? During the holidays, they also have an interesting festive display/menagerie of polar bears and other festive animals out front.

Yelp
Every single time you shop at this place you have to double check your receipt... It s always not the sale price.. and yes i ve a Netcost customer Card .. When you tell the cashier always the same story .. they forgot to remove the sale price tags or it s not changed in the system !! That s bs .. I shop here at least 3 times a week and it happened the last 5 times in a row !!! looks like a system !!

Yelp
Amazing selection! It's a wonderful place if you happen to be working in Rego Park. This place was my go-to. There's gems you can find amongst stuff, i'm sure not everything is the best ever, but hey, we are a ways from Manhattan. Quiet cozy place with unexpected finds!

Yelp
Netcost market world of expired food please don't buy food from here it's not fresh at all

Yelp
Yet another game at NetCost that makes you the loser. Without a NetCost card you would not get the sale price and it has been this way for the longest time. RECENTLY when I gave the card to the cashier, she did not take it and said "I don't need it.". She rang my order and when I got home I noticed a Sale Item did not ring at the sale price. I concluded she did not want to take my Net Cost card. Last week, it happened again. Yep, it was my stupidity, but who thinks they are out to rip you off, but they are. See photo. Salad was advertised at $ 1.99 with Net Cost card. Got to the register, made the motion to give the card to the cashier, she said she didn't need it. Rang my order, I paid, got home and see the salad did not ring at the sale price. Oh yes, the other two items did, but item # 3 was a buck more than it should have been. OH YES, that cashier needs to take my card.

Yelp
It was my first time shopping here today. I bought a few items that I separated into two bags. 2 minutes after I left the store I realized that I forgot one of the bags . When I returned to get the bag( it couldn't have been more than 4 minutes after i left the store) the bag wasn't there anymore. I inquired at the register where I left and with the security guard but they both played dumb and were not interested in helping me. The bag with food has magically vanished. This would not have happened at any other store. Buyers beware.

Yelp
Special thanks for the fact that you can find incredibly tasty apples! I will definitely come again

Yelp
usually I never leave any reviews, but what I saw today I just had no words. I came early this morning ( January 2nd) to do some shopping . Young lady ( she is working there) while she was doing her online orders , she dropped small box with cookies. Of course all cookies fell on the floor. She grab those cookies and put all cookies BACK TO BOX AND PUT THIS BOX BACK TO SHELF!!! She put this box behind. I was shocked . Just no words.

Yelp
Vast variety of produce, dairy, fruits and vegetables and just about everything else. Their liquor store too has an unbelievable array of international wines and liquors. They also have plenty of cashiers so checkout lines are short. I shall return.

Yelp
Impressive supermarket in Brighton Beach with a great choice of beers and other "gourmet" dining options. The salad bar/pay by the pound is magnificent, but definitely overpriced at $7.49/7.99. You can find cheaper options nearby, but honestly shopping here is a bit of an experience. I'm giving a 3 star because there are bathrooms but they get sketchy and check if you've actually bought something from the supermarket at times.

Yelp
Great price- awesome products-your regular mix of friendly and typical "Soviet style" service)) As for the troll Charla leaving a negative review- she has 9 reviews in total- all negative - 6 out of 9 she flat out accuses establishments of racism. You make your conclusions.

Yelp
High quality, abundant deliciousness at reasonable prices. We trek to Brighton Beach with a friend a few times a year for fabulous Russian food. The last time we were here, Gourmanoff was not, but they are now, and we are very glad! Think supermarket of the highest quality with picture-worthy produce, then add row upon row of prepared hot and cold meats, stews, salads, fish and snacks. Now picture the smoked fish/caviar counter, the fresh meat counter, fresh breads of all kinds and a stunning patisserie. Put it all in a visually beautiful building that was a theater and add helpful staff. Add the sound of Russian voices all around. Now you have an idea of Gourmanoff. Unlike some of the stores in the area, they were very pleasant to English-speaking me. Thank you, Gourmanoff, I'll be back.

Yelp
I really enjoy shopping here, I even go just to browse the aisle when I don't need anything. The store is very neat, clean and tidy, very fun to shop in. I find almost all of the groceries and more that I need at this store, you name it, they have it. I really enjoy the buffet section at this supermarket, and they have all kinds of exotic Russian foods here too.

Yelp
I always stop by when I'm in the neighborhood, simply for their beautiful produce. Some highlights: Russian cucumbers, fresh dill, radish and heirloom tomatoes. They always have the best dark purple Washington cherries that crunch when you bite them, so sweet! There is an abundance of fruits that are difficult to find in most groceries like lychee, sour red and yellow cherries, mulberries, kumquats, and black plums. You can find dried barberries, good for heart health. Of course there is ajvar, and many jams. There are shelves of healthy fruit juices like sour cherry, elderberry, cornell cherry, these are all very high in antioxidants. I am happy that they have some packaged baked goods from Baku bakery (no shaker bura but they have the mutaki, which are similar). I treat myself to a little soda every now and then and they have the usual pear, and tarragon sodas. The freshly baked breads are a delight, so many dense dark seeded breads. Of course there are many Russian goods, and all very cheap. Another reason why I will go out of my way to patronize this business: they do not have a "dress code" for women only prohibiting "beachwear", nor do they allow extremists to proselytize to men outside, like that large grocery by the train. I find the security and staff to be very nice and polite as well.

Yelp
Came In to pick up deli meat and cheese for daughter school lunch . All the employees at deli had no mask on . How are customer suppose to feel safe buying food from you ? I work in retail environment and wear my mask at all time so my customer feel comfortable asking me for help .

Yelp
(Update) since I have been coming here things have been changing for the better. Until the brought in this new employee named Vira, K (I'm starting to call out the problems instead of dissing the entire store because the store isn't the problem). Every time I check out it seems I end up in her lane. Every time she is rude and treats me like I am stupid. I am safe in saying that it isn't all because of 'you know what'. It is because she is lazy. First she treat thought I was stupid and wouldn't count my change because she was too LAZY to ask a manager or another employee to refill her cash register. The second unfortunate time I was graced with her foul service she manhandled my eggs and I got home and a couple were broken. Then this last time...oh this last time she was so lazy that even though I wasn't trying to be petty or anything she snapped at me for not having cash and having to pay my small purchase by my debit car. She didn't feel like pressing some buttons.(which is her job.) Anyway, I'm over it and I hope that she get better and understands that you need to treat EVERYONE no matter how you look with respect even if you don't like them because they don't look like you. You never know who you may need some day. Please just do better guys! This place is great. I love their butcher meats selection. The only turn off is the buffet line. Too many unclean customers use their bare hands to choose or just pick at the items they want. That could easily get them in a bit of a problem with the health department if the right person reports what they see too often. But all in all I love the food and the employees. They are super ..... (Update) as of April 2019 my views of this establishment has changed. They have become bigoted, racist, and condescending. At first I gave them the benefit of the doubt, given I am African American and I am of the very few in this neighborhood. At some point they have to realize that they came over to this country where we(black people) happen to be everywhere and you can't just believe since you have a "space" no other culture belongs. I thought I was just they only talk to other Russian speaking customers. NOPE. They totally profiled me and followed me to the check out and all. I lightheartedly joker with the cashiers telling them "don't worry I don't steal, and btw you should tell you security guy to be a little bit more subtle about following me around like that." To my humor to youngster had just nicked a sweet treat but I wasn't about to inform them because clearly in their eyes I am the "savage" I would totally stop shopping there but they happen to have the best and cheapest eggs near without getting on the train. I don't say this to get or give hate. I only say it to remind people it's 2019. If certain groups of people can shop in common places in peace you may as well they your goods and services some other country NOT America. We are past the 1950s. Just do better you don't have to like my skin tone but from one human to another let's respect each other. All of our money is green(or a plastic card). Don't embarrass yourself with narrow mindedness

Yelp
The fact it is in an old theater and they still show movies is awesome.. It is huge.. As far as the prepared foods, hit or miss but I have not had any issue with the prepared duck or the beet salads.. (my favorite is the garlic beet).. The other prepared food... eh...At least now they are beginning to write the ingredients in some foods.. I tried the Gourmanoff caviar.. it was mushy.. so I put it in eggs..No more caviar from them.. So far I have not had an issue with the cashiers..but I watch like a hawk...One even started to speak to me in Russian.. I had no clue what he said.. And we both laughed..

Yelp
This place is amazing. There is nothing they don't have including a theater. I could survive in here

Yelp
I bought this product yesterday for $0.99, but manager should be SUED for selling rotten products!
google avatar

Yelp
Is that an old-timey theatre? No! It's somehow a giant (and remarkably nice) eastern european market! Go get some smoked fish and cured meats. Great for the soul, poor for the blood pressure.

Yelp
Relatively new grocery store to Brighton Beach. I has a whole foods and organic type of feel but with a really nice area for prepared foods that are hot and fresh. They have a wide variety of caviar. I really like the hot soup bar which I frequent a lot on cold nights. The borscht is decent. They also have a nice variety of olives and pickles, prepared different ways. The fruit is relatively fresh although from time to time I will find something that suggests otherwise. The vegetables are constantly being turned over. Bonus points for the fresh, piping hot breads. They have pretty much everything you could need for a grocery store, however, in somewhat limited quantities. I even tried the sushi here, you can get already prepared sushi or have the chef make whatever you desire. Another bonus for this store is the meat and prepared foods, which you can buy in a serving or by the pound. The line is always long here to get delicious food, but hey, a little bit of a wait and not having to cook is right up my alley. Down the aisles are selections of condiments that will save you from having to visit a larger grocery store. They even have a frozen food section, with some really delicious pierogies. When you get in line for the check out, there is a screen that guides you to the next open check out, as well as a flashing green light when the check out is open and available. Be sure to pay attention or you may get yelled at (personal experience). Overall, the store is very clean, smells nice, and for the most part the people are friendly. Majority of the prices are fair when compared to larger grocery stores in the area, some things are a bit over priced, but you get what you pay for.

Yelp
Use to be so much better the hot kitchen went from A to c- Don't care about the price I was paying not complaining but for the past few months it's just getting bad everyday I live a cross the street, it was just convenient for me but now looking for new spot to shop. Actually we many people in Oceana complaining on the change in the kitchen.

Yelp
Great supermarket with lots of high end and unique items. They have a lovely bread counter, a great deli counter and a wonderful cured fish counter. The cured fish counter has an array of smoked fish and a cornucopia of caviar. There is a wonderful prepared food area where you can order and then sit in the informal dining room. The food itself is rather good. It's always a pleasure to stop in Gourmanoff when in the area

Yelp
Even though within a stones throw of another major food market, Brighton Bazaar, the movie theatre-Esq front now holds within its walls, an uniquely upscale, gourmet grocery store. Breads of all types adorn the front right wall when you first walk in, which leads into a well appointed cheese section. The blue cheese options were fabulous, controlling my spending only to Gorgonzola Dolce, Roquefort and Stilton took some serious discipline. Onto the produce section, while not as overwhelming as Brighton Bazaar still had exactly what I was looking for. Eggplant, artichoke, peppers, garlic and onions. Lacking only in the ability to purchase individual shallots. Cold cuts were uniquely daring, as the veal tougue, head cheese, mortadella and panchetta held the high ground over turkey and bologna. The security is comparable to that of the Russian presidential inauguration with three big guys in dark suits, wired with headsets greet you and say goodby with smiles and kind well wishes.

Yelp
Rude, clueless employees which don't know anything. Cashiers moving very slow, talking to each other, drinking coffee (or tea) and eating right in front of customers, which is common for this store. The attitude of the manager is simply terrible. He is completely not bothered by boorish behavior of employees. He just impudently laughs at you. Despite the fact that the store is very beautiful, it is simply unpleasant to visit such a store. Definitely I wouldn't recommend to visit this supermarket.

Johnny L.

Yelp
The soy milk is cheapest on avenue; the organic bananas are cheaper than at health store; always a good range of sale items; carts I can walk like a dog; kombucha; cash register lines run smoothly. I only shop for a few essentials, however I save a trip to Sheepshead Bay. I ignore most everything, but have browsed to find items I like, such as the rice vermicelli (too many egg noodles down the avenue), and it's relaxing to take a few loops searching for something new. If the security guards are rude it's due to attending security guard classed, not charm school. Plus, as an American, the Russians respect the fact that we saved their country in two wars, and beat them to the moon; and I respect that they grabbed up the best local beach space.

Yelp
I purchased PLOV for $38 two large dishes. Thanks god my son refused to eat it, unfortunately I did. I had food poison, and three days later I am still recovering. I would avoid any prepared food at this place.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that this review is long overdue. My event was in May and I am now just writing a thank you to Gourmanoff. That speaks to how amazing the catering was! The cheese platter was so yummy and the meat platter went perfectly with it. Everything was so good but my favorite by far were the savory filled bread called pierogies (not the traditional ones that I was thinking). THEY WERE INCREDIBLE! Not sure if they sell these in the store individually but if they do, you should try it! Thank you Gourmanoff for the on time delivery, the extra add ons that you included in the order and the overall ease in ordering with you. The event was a hit, thanks in great part to you!I

Yelp
Something is going on at Gourmanoff. Things have changed and not for the better. They used to have really nice prepared fruit salad and fresh vegetables cut up for soup or roasting. A great convenience item. The bakery is half of what it used to be. The butcher is gone, only pre-packaged meat/poultry available now. Smoked fish section is lesser as well. The good news is that they stay open till midnight now. The bad news is I am less inclined to go in because of these changes.

Yelp
Simply upscale version of any Russian grocery stores in entire Brooklyn without high sticker prices. If you a tourist or just moved in...this store is a Must for you to visit.

Yelp
Tuna Salad spoils on the second day, veggies in Olivie' are half boiled. Quality has been going down ever since they opened.

Barbara L.

Yelp
I have been shopping at Net Cost/Gourmanoff since it opened. I am a 67 yr old female and entered the store today with a Net Cost plastic bag in which were my wallet and house keys. A security man very rudely stopped me and insisted that I give him the bag and remove the contents, as if I were "shoplifiting." I came with my bag to use it for my groceries as I believed I was acting for the greater good to re-cycle my bag and not be incurred a fee for getting a new bag. He was extremely mean and embarrassed me in front of other shoppers. I will no longer shop at this store.
google avatar

Zhana K.

Yelp
Overpriced! However, if you are looking for Russian products that you cannot find, this place probably has it. The store is huge and variety is amazing. Yet, you pay the price.
google avatar

Anthony G.

Yelp
Pretty good market sells a wide variety of hard to find foods from Eastern Europe. Pretty good selection of produce and their meat department is very good. Only disappointment is their cheese department which lacks variety. They also have a cooked foods selection that has a great variety of Russian, Georgian, Polish and Uzbek dishes. Prices aren't terrible either. Biggest gripe are the constant crowds. It's always packed when I go so check out is very slow.
google avatar

Diana G.

Yelp
Let me tell you this: with Tashkent right up the block, and a whole bunch of other Russian food stores across Brighton Beach, it would be wise of the management to fire the rude so-called "security guard" who first of all looks like he just stepped out of Rikers Island, and second has no manners or people skills. I spent over $150 every few days in this store although the quality has gone down drastically, but yesterday I vowed to not spend another dollar in this god-forsaken-hell-hole. THE WORST TREATMENT from the lowest of people aka NetCost security staff. Perhaps when this place will finally lose all their customers, perhaps then they will consider hiring staff with people skills. Oh and by the way, some English would be helpful too. Stay away, their food sucks and prices are no better than Tashkent. Save your nervous system and you'll save money too by walking past this dump and straight to Tashkent!

Yelp
I love this grocery store,,but will NEVER again eat or buy fish there! Today I grabbed a quick lunch from the grill..and had a huge worm in my fish. When I took it up to the chef he called a guy over and they tried to tell me it was a vein!! Suprise.I have worked and owned restaurants before, as well as worked in a commercial marina..I know what a worm looks like!! Be warned, watch the fresh fish that you get from there!

Yelp
Huge lines but Gourmanoff is my go-to supermarket for all my groceries ! stumbled upon this gem of a supermarket tucked into the vicinity of a theater and boy, does it not disappoint ; large selection of organic fruits and veggies + sooo many different types of meats, dairy, breads, birthday cakes, frozen goods, buckwheat to choose from, ahh I feel like a little kid every week when I walk in here ; the only downside is that everyone speaks Russian in here so you might have to ask a younger customer to translate the writing on the packing for you occasionally but that's not a problem.
google avatar

Sania M.

Yelp
Beautiful supermarket! Amazing selection of fresh fruits, veggies, cheeses... The list goes on. The prices are reasonable too! Definitely stop by
google avatar

Jaz V.

Yelp
I really REALLY like their cured fish selection. Highly recommended. It feels like you just popped into Russia for a bit

Yelp
Dear all, I wanted to share my recent experience (07/08/2018). I purchased salads and some meat koteletts from the prepared food/salad bar. Everything appeared to look great. However, after going to the beach and trying those salads I was sick the whole night and also on Sunday (today). Food poisoning, very bad!!!! I may have to visit a doctor tomorrow because I have fever. So Stay AWAY from those salads!!!! I don't know if they ever get inspected for quality....... So, if you like to experience Russia ( like it used to be) you can get your whole package at Gourmanoff Supermarket, Brighton Beach.
google avatar

Estilomina P.

Yelp
I love this market. Besides Fairway in Red Hook, it's the best place with this level of variety in BK -- but with an Eastern European/Russian twist -- so that means plenty of exotic (to me at least b/c I'm not familiar with Russian products) items to try for fun. We (Latinos) do not cook with dill but the fresh dill here was so beautiful we bought a bunch and enjoyed all types of fish and sauces for the past couple weeks. ENORMOUS selection of caviars, cheeses and smoke fish, which my husband and I both being very much into food, truly appreciate. The prepared foods looked fresh and diverse, will definitely try them next time, especially since you can eat there after you check out. We got some nice quality organic chicken, fresh pastries, fruit and fresh baked bread and were super pleased with all of it. Oh and just as important, the place is super clean. Overall very satisfied and will return, especially for the inspiration of the products we have never tried before.

Fred M.

Yelp
I've shopped at Gourmanoff & ordered in (despite my misgivings, which were totally FOUNDED) If you are not RUSSIAN (ie, BORN IN THE USA!) they will make you wait & treat you poorly. Don't waste your time or money :(
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
What I didn't expect from this place is to find a peace of long hair in a salad back home. Totally unacceptable! Would love to see a place where and how the food is being prepared and cooked.
google avatar

Ilona K.

Yelp
I really like this supermarket. Everything looks fresh and tasty. We've bought fresh ingredients and prepared food. We haven't been disappointed. The only con (which is not their fault) is the lack of parking in the area. I did notice that they have a pick-up (and delivery) option for a limited number of items. Perhaps I will try that next time. Whole Foods's giant parking lot in Brooklyn is the only reason we still go there. I prefer going here.
google avatar

Ricky R.

Yelp
Disgusting , rude customer service definitely not coming back here if your not Russian they make you feel like you don't belong here they take people ahead of you on purpose while waiting for the cashier . Just gross
google avatar

Neil B.

Yelp
I can only write about my experience on a Saturday night and it was excellent. People were friendly and begged us to take free samples. The variety of grilled meats, cheeses and other food items both prepared and to be cooked was very impressive. I bought two Lindt Excellence 90% cocoa bars for $5.20 including tax so no complaints about prices! The market is well designed with plenty of room in the aisles, great lighting and the shopping area is very clean. There is also a coffee shop attached to the market. I was very impressed! 8/17/16: You can't use the bathroom unless you buy something and have a receipt to prove it. I understand the rationale, but minus one star because the person checking could use common sense. Luckily some people leave their receipts in the garbage outside!

Yelp
If you have heard of net cost then this is exactly what this should be called. Don't be fooled by their fancy new name of gurmanoff. The decor of this place is absolutely stunning and all of the presentation of the food they sell is out of this world. The reason they get a three star review is due to their lack of consistency. It's always a hit or miss with the food that I get and unfortunately I've even gotten food poisoning from them due to their lack of unsanitary procedures of cutting meat on wooden boards. The prices are pretty pricey but that makes up for the decor and staff of course. Honestly the food is nothing special and it's only great for a quick grab and go when you have absolutely nothing in your fridge or need to impress your grandparents for a quick Russian meal.
google avatar

Laila D.

Yelp
Beautiful and memorable supermarket, a renovated old movie theatre with marble entrance with Greek goddesses and dazzling chandeliers and rustic wooden floors inside. Food is beautifully presented and well priced. Service is kind. I was delighted to discover the amazing fish counter: possibly the best quality and best priced salmon I ever bought in the NY/long island NJ area! And a delicious Arctic char too! The flat breads are delicious. Delicious olives! Next time will do a more expansive shopping as excellent quality and prices. Where else would you find a caviar bar and jellied chicken, huge tea collection. Look forward to returning soon!
