10th & M Seafoods

First time in Alaska: as someone who grew up in the Midwest (US), I wanted to try some “real” seafood. We decided to go to ‘10th and M Seafoods’ …. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful to seafood newcomers. We ended up getting a Dungeness Crab (these are pre-cooked and frozen), 1lb of shrimp and 1lb of salmon. This was definitely the best seafood I’ve ever had. If I’m ever back in Anchorage, I will be coming here again. We cooked our food the next day (attached photos), it was life changing… especially with the seafood seasoning they sell!

So happy I came across this shop. They have a really nice selection of fresh seafood as well as vacuum sealed frozen seafood. The two folks that helped me were incredibly friendly and very accommodating. I got a mix of fresh and frozen fish/crab. They packed it all up for me nicely and added ice packs. I had a 6am flight the next morning, so going in at 4pm the night before ensured my purchase would make it home before spoiling. I had no issues with the airline checking the boxes and everything looked/tasted great when I got home. Definitely coming back my next time in Anchorage!

This establishment has remained top-notch for decades! We first found this place about 20 years ago after a fishing trip - they are far more than a cold-storage. Their seafood is consistently high quality and packaged well. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable!

This is a great place to get local seafood, many of them are wild caught. They have a large section for wholesale to restaurants, and a smaller portion dedicated to retail. It is that they sell to restaurants that they have a good variety and and selection of quality meats. They also ship, normally overnight, to the lower 48, so you can get good Alaskan seafood.

This is a great place to buy smoked salmon!! We bought smoked salmon strips and it was amazing! The staff was so friendly and helpful. When they realized we have a flight, they iced packed it for free for us. I highly recommend visiting this place.

Take your fish somewhere else for processing… I informed the staff that the fish was roughly filleted and asked them to please remove belly’s, ribs and rough edges. What a lousy job!! Not only was it grass and dirt in the vacuum packs but they left fins, belly’s and rib bones in a lot of fish. So inconsistent and for the price they’re charging should do better. Additionally I paid the extra fee for freezing and when arrived for pick up items were not frozen. Instead of refunding me what I paid for freezing they asked if I could come back later… what sense does that make when I came the day you told me to come for pick up. A business that has been around for so long you’d think they’d have more pride in their business… shameful won’t be returning and if you’re reading this I wouldn’t recommend you come here either.

If you are looking to bring fish or Alaskan Seafood home to the lower 48, then this is the place. They have the best selection: King Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Halibut, Red Crab Legs, Crab, Black Cod, etc. They know how to box it up and have it set up to board an airplane for your flight home. They are open until 6pm, so you can pick it up soon before your flight home allowing it to still be frozen once you get to your freezer. Definitely try the Salmon Steaks, smoked King Salmon, and the Boneless Halibut Steaks!

Though small the selection is incredible! Friendly service and knowledgeable staff. I bought a bunch of smoked salmon to take back to LA (check out the last pic 😉) and u bought some fresh Rockfish and Salmon to cook on the hotel during my stay. The fresh fish was incredibly tasty with their lemon caper sauce. I also bought some hot reindeer sausage and that was very tasty as well. Will be making another trip there before heading home! Great place for a business lunch. Scenic views, upscale enough, quiet. 2 hour parking validated- ask host. Food was pretty good. Bar area looked very nice but didn't experience that this time. Dinner menu looks excellent, will be back.

While on vacation we stopped in here to order fresh Sockeye and Halibut fillets to be shipped to Virginia. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff gave us the menu and prices. Our fish was over nighted to us, with zero issues! Fish was fresh as it was in their display cases. Definitely ordering more from them in the future!

I'd recommend 10th & m if you want to purchase seafood and ship it back home or take that with you on the plane. It was very convenient. We came here and picked a dungeness crab. The staff wrapped it put it in a box and put some dry ice inside to keep it fresh. Our flight was only 5 hours but they said it's good for 24 hours. Besides dungeness crabs and king crab lesgs and claws they also have some canned salmons that would make great souvenirs.

They always tabs the best. Freshest stuff. I wanted never frozen copper river red Gif it. I wanted never frozen king. Got it. Not cheap.......neither is a Lamborghini. It's the best. Period. Friendly service to boot. I patronize the Muldoon location

I visit 10th and M Seafoods nearly every time I come to Anchorage, they have the absolute freshest and best tasting fish and seafood. Their salmon is particularly good, I usually buy the king salmon fillets, which are absolutely delicious. I've bought king salmon from a number of places in the lower 48, and none of it compares to the fillets I get from 10th and M. Their king crab and halibut is also really good, and their seasoning is to die for (the salmon seasoning pairs perfectly with their salmon). They have a variety of packaging options, depending how far you will be traveling, and while I usually just get an ice pack or two since I bring my own cooler, you can get it fully packaged up too. Even if you live far away and are flying home, if you are a seafood (especially a salmon) lover, you owe it to yourself to get some fish/seafood (and seasoning) from 10th and M to take home!

Pros: super fresh sea food, we bought fresh salmon, as well as jarred salmon and some souvenir cutters. The service was excellent! Very helpful and nice. Cons: none, great experience and the jarred salmon was a dream!

Excellent source for fresh Alaskan seafood! Super friendly staff! Glad I found this place before heading back home. Picked up a ton of frozen halibut and king crab along with canned king salmon which they packed with dry ice and gel packs then boxed inside a styrofoam cooler. All this was completely sealed up and the perfect size to toss in my big checked bag and fly back home. I've been enjoying the halibut week after week now since there's no supply of it at home. Next year we're planning a fishing charter and plan to have 10th and M process and pack it up for us, especially after seeing the quality of their processing/packaging.

they are the best. we especially like their cold pack service for wrapping up foods we bring from Alaska to Hawaii.

been going here every time i visit, 4 times in total to pickup king salmon and king crab to bring home since i carryon i request box that will be allowed, purchased $500 of salmon and $500 crab, was disappointed when i picked up before closing and i got box that would require checked in at airport. Flying to chicago allot of luggae disappears, hoping for the best. pricing is high, almost double costco, we will see if its worth it

Expensive but good. And they know how to pack their fish for coast to coast flights. Pretty sure their crab and other filets would be high quality as well. I am eating their smoked sockeye salmon, sitting 2000miles away from the store... as I type. That's proof enough.

Very busy wholesale kinda place. Hard to find someone working there to help you if you buying retail.

Extremely knowledgeable staff that thought of ways to save us money for shipping the seafood home. Super fresh selection, as well as fresh, frozen vacuum sealed options. If you're looking to send seafood home after your trip to Anchorage, this is the place to go.

Stopped in here to check out some local seafood...I mean c'mon its Alaska...and when in "Rome!" I was glad to see how fresh much of the fish was like the halibut and the cod. (it had just come in) (not frozen) They also had spot prawns that were fresh from the boat and that's tough to find anywhere as almost ALL shrimp is frozen at some point. They were a bit pricey at $24/lb. but hey, I'm on vacation. So we got some and man were they good. I'd love to give this place 5 stars, and maybe its not their fault but the prices of halibut here are the same in Michigan, and the prices of King crab are almost twice that of Michigan!!!! What gives? Doesn't make sense to me. Maybe its because I'm in the city, IDK but its really annoying.

Had 150 Pounds of Sockeye custom processed that I planned to present to potential buyers for my direct marketing business. I wrongly assumed that 10th and M would take the time to package them in such a way that my fish would look presentable and professionally packaged. The vacuum packing was terrible. Lots of air pockets in the packaging. Also when they froze the fish they didn't even take the time to freeze it flat, but it looked like it was haphazardly thrown in the freezer. A couple were even bent in half when they were frozen. Needless to say, for 4.50 a pound price I was very disappointed. Now I have to find people to eat this fish, because I will not even consider using it as sample fish for potential buyers. Customer service was good though and the guy filleting was very talented, however, I will not be getting any more fish processed there. Alaska Sausage and Seafood did a phenomenal job on the other half of the fish that I dropped off there. I would highly recommend that establishment.

People are very nice! I stopped by this place before going to the airport in a hurry. The staffs there helped me to packed very fast!

Got some fish packed and got them on a flight from 10th and M. So deeply impressed by this store. I called at least 3 times to ask questions on packing options, how to take on flight, etc etc and each time they were so patient, clear and accurate about the options. Got to the store and it's a very clean, small, local store with amazing people working. At the store I got everything I needed, professionally packed. It's literally on the way to the airport and was just perfect, highly recommended

Very nice employees and they'll pack your seafood for travel so well that it stays cold all the way to Florida. Much smaller than I imagined but worth a visit. The halibut and sockeye salmon were absolutely delicious at home.

Fresh and frozen seafood at affordable prices, very helpful staff and the shopping premise is tidy and clean. We were pleased to have had the opportunity to stop by and select several pounds of king crab for later.

I came here to get my fresh caught fish vaccum sealed. Quick and simple. They charge by the pound. While walking around I noticed some of the prices were a little higher than Carrs for some of the Alaskan Sausage

We ordered 5 pounds of Alaska King Crab from 10th& M Seafood in December for ourselves and 3 pounds for our friends. We were having family in, so we ordered the crab for dinner on the 23rd. The crab was to be sent overnight. We waited around all day for the delivery, which never happened. Fedex said that they had delivered the package. We have a Ring doorbell, so we have a record of everyone who comes to the front door. No one from Fedex showed up. The package also required signature at delivery. The driver changed that to no signature required. Total falsifications from Fedex. That was not 10th& M's problem. I called 10th and M. They said that they would send a replacement shipment, which they did. When we unpacked the shipment, my wife looked at it and said that it was not 5 pounds. I got out our scale and sure enough, it was only 4.4 pounds. We had paid for 5. After paying for 5 pounds and not having it delivered by Fedex, we were upset. When we received the replacement shipment and found that it was short by over half a pound, we were exceptionally upset. We thought this showed the true character of 10th & M when they sent the replacement pack. Not quite. What showed their true character was shorting us on an order. We will not be doing business with 10th & M again.

A perennial favorite since the 1940's. This place is really hidden in a residential area of the city. Take an Uber, Lyft, whatever floats your boat... but you can't leave Anchorage without some really good seafood. I bought some beautiful King Crab legs, a bag of the "bits and pieces" which are a bargain and some Chinook salmon. I'd like to say seafood here is sooooooo cheap... but, its quality seafood so you'll pay an average price. One thing is clear, its super high quality. Here's a tip, if you like King Crab crab a bag of the "bits and pieces"... these are the legs and other pieces that have gone rogue. They put them in a bag and you should pick one up at discounted price compared to the whole crab legs. They pack everything up for your flight and you'll be ready to take a taste of Alaska home.

I think I was swindled. So I fly from California (day trip to pick up fresh seafood). There's no better place to get it but Alaska right? WRONG. This trip was not even 24 hours. We flew in, took our cooler, filled it up and went right back to the airport. This place will charge 12 dollars for a box if u need packaging, we had our own. Upon arriving back home I took all the contents out the cooler and placed it in my fridge. The next morning, I start taking the fish out portioning the pieces and prepping them for freezer. That's when I noticed WORMS in my fish. I didn't come all the way to Alaska to spend good money on fish with worms. Worst part is the worms were live!!!! Some pieces of fish had already been seasoned when I noticed WORMS coming from the flesh of the fish. Multiple worms at that!! I attempted to pick the worms off and some of the worms broke away inside the flesh of the fish because they were so delicate. Immediately I called and spoke to Pete, Peter..someone with a P, cant quite remember. He was slightly amused, laughed and said its common. My problem is there was NO signage in the store that says this was a thing. Buyer beware!!!! If there was I could have made a better decision. He then told me he was surprised it was in the salmon, normally its in the white fish (which I had purchased an abundance of as well). I couldn't stomache to go searching for more worms. Overall I couldn't stomache myself to eat or cook anymore fish. In fact this entire experience has made me NOT want to eat fish at all. Which is so sad. The service inside the market was exceptional. We were helped instantly. Located in or near downtown which was right where we needed to be. Place seemed nice and clean. Much smaller than I expected but if you dont see something you want they will go to the back and check.

BEST KING CRAB I'VE EVER HAD! A gracious friend was generous enough to send an enormous package of king crab to us underprivileged New Yorkers that can't get king crab this fresh or large on a regular basis. The crab arrived in time for New Years Eve dinner in perfect condition, completely frozen and stable. I think I just started a new tradition for myself. King crab every New Years Eve until my last.

I have been frequenting this place for a few years now. Purchasing seafood is a new thing for me. I come from southeast where seafood is plentiful so I am used to having fresh seafood. Tourists: I'd sincerely suggest bringing or purchasing an oyster shucker and buying the oysters from here! Always fresh ! Pick up a bottle of wine/champagne and save yourself some dollars... Staff are friendly and particular about preferences.

We were visiting Anchorage from the Midwest and wanted fresh seafood for the grill. The sockeye was priced very reasonably, and a pound of striped shrimp, ran about $35 total. Easy and affordable!

Excellent customer service! I needed some dry ice last minute in Anchorage and found (through Yelp, yay!) that these folks have dry ice. But that's not all, obviously. They're so much more than a place to buy dry ice - they're a full fledged seafood store. Fresh caught, local, you name it, it's here. I popped by in the morning after making a call and confirming that I could by dry ice. And during the quick 2 min wait it took to buy 5lbs (for about $10) I perused the shop and found King Crab legs, various fish including some gorgeous looking salmon, and more. This is a one-stop-shop for anyone looking to serve local, fresh food for dinner. But it's also a great option for shipping gifts to friends and loved ones. They've even got prepackaged gift sets. And you know they've got the dry ice to ship it with too! The gal at the register was extremely friendly. Just hanging out waiting for my order of ice, we chatted for a quick set and she talked to me about the history of the business, their offerings, and how lots of people come by for dry ice. Glad to know I wasn't the only one. The shop is small, cute, and very clean. Prices are extremely affordable. Just keep your eyes peeled because if you're not from Anchorage, the storefront is easy to miss. I came in a cab and the driver passed it twice before finding it.

This might be a great place to get seafood, but to avoid any confusion for out of towners who use yelp...this is not a restaurant.

Wonderful, Fresh Seafood. We visited Anchorage went to this location, picked out our fish and Crab and had it shipped back home where it arrived in NY before we did! Great service and delicious, fresh fish! Will be ordering from them again and again.

IDK why I haven't written a review for 10th & M yet. I guess it just didn't dawn on me until I saw the Yelp sticker on the door yesterday. I've been a regular here for the past two years since I moved to Anchorage. I only live a few blocks away, and they offer freezer locker rental. Since i live in a small condo, having a convenience like that is just priceless. They always have a good selection of Alaskan seafood and other delicacies too. I asked the sweetheart of a girl, Sarah, if they had any soft-shell crabs. She returned from the freezer with a whole box of them, and I took 16. The bill came out to be less than ten bucks! I work for an airline, and they offer me a discount if I pay cash. They have a good selection of styro shipping boxes to send yummy stuff to my friends and family Outside. For you non-Alaskans, "Outside" refers to the lower 48 states, or any place other than here. Fresh products, great customer service, and convenient to where I live. Win!

My parents have made a new tradition of sending me wonderful packages from this place-- oodles of nummy fish! Last year I had king crab legs bigger then my leg- and salmon fillets that were so fresh we could eat it raw. This year they helped me load up on Halibut- I grilled a few and I know I will miss it when it is all gone- but at least they send plenty.

Back in 1943, 10th & M was the place to go to store you meat and fish. Today it is a little known gem in the vastness of Alaska. Until recent years, you could bring your fresh caught salmon and $2 bucks in and get the same weight in smoked goodness. The market sells the widest variety of fish north of Pike Place Market in Seattle - but its packed in a small corner store. The fish some of the freshest around, the people are nice and can give you a hundred ways to cook salmon and best of all you can order by mail. If you know of anyone who loves really great sea food - check out the website or go there yourself and you will have a bit of Alaska without having to travel 3000 miles. Insider note: the best smoked salmon ever! try the cajun or the lemon pepper - you really cannot go wrong.

3.5 stars... 'Usually' THE place to buy the freshest seafood. The last 2 visits however, the halibut was a bit ripe. Still, one of the best.

Awesome!! Great service, wonderful selection. Great place to get some ikura or crawfish. I haven't been to the other location on Muldoon, but the one downtown, I cannot say enough about.

Our family Christmas tradition for the past 13 years is to splurge and have Alaskan King Crab legs shipped to us in Iowa, for Christmas dinner. We have always enjoyed the great service and quality of the crab legs from 10th & M Street Seafood. The crab legs this year were particularly outstanding. Your local grocery store cannot match the quality and size of 10th & M's crab legs. Their crab legs are top of the line and can't be beat for a special occasion. Dan and Mary Ann from Iowa

Second time visiting this small but a holder of good quality items. When I visit Anchorage, I like to stop by and buy some smoked salmon to bring back to Florida. I choose this because the vacuum packed smoked salmon doesn't need refrigeration and can be in a suitcase for a while. They're prices are reasonable for what I need and service is always helpful, informative, & friendly. I noticed the majority of the visiting customers from out of town were purchasing fresh salmon, King crab, & other seafood to have it boxed there and packed for carry on a plane. These customers were from Seattle and Portland, but other places are sure to do the same. They also offer the service of having fresh seafood to be Fed Ex'ed with dry ice and sent to any address for a nominal fee. The cashier was kind enough to help me pack everything I bought into my backpack and quote me a price to have fresh items sent to my home in Florida once I have arrived there. They have a great selection of fresh fish if you're a local to buy for immediate needs. Best place I found here on Yelp for seafood and I was very satisfied with the results. Coming back next time in Anchorage.

These guys are awesome!!! More concerned with customer satisfaction than profit margins. I've purchased their seafood gift boxes for family in the lower 48 at Christmas for several years. This year my 86 year old Grandmother moved and gave me the wrong forwarding address. It took several phone calls between me, Abbey at 10 & M (who went above and beyond) and the jackasses at Fed Ex (who placed the package at the back door-albeit at the wrong house) to figure out what happened. But, even though the fault was mine, they said that since I was a loyal customer, they felt horrible about the situation and sent out a new package at no charge. Love these guys!!!

I bought several pounds of Alaskan king crab legs and some salmon to take back home. The team was very helpful and helped package everything so I can easily check it in at the airport. The employees even provided me with general cooking tips for the crab legs and they came out delicious. I've never had crab like this before and it has spoiled me. I know that they do offer delivery, but that option is pretty expensive. If you are in Anchorage for a visit, I definitely recommend stopping by here and taking some fresh seafood back home.

My husband requested smoked salmon while I was in Alaska, so I went here based on their good reviews. They have a great selection of frozen fish, including smoked salmon. They can pack your purchase for overnight delivery or to take on the plane. Regrettably, I picked the overnight delivery to San Francisco, which set me back $60. My husband liked the salmon, although he thought it was too cooked for his taste. Otherwise, good service all around. Thank you!

Very unique. But if you are not a fisher, and just want to buy something, do not go there.

It's all seafood and they don't cook....it's purely a market. Scallops and salmon were a decent price, but the Alaskan crab legs.....a rip off in my opinion. Sometimes you can find better deals at Fred Meyer or New Sagaya's, but of course the selection will be limited in comparison to 10th & M.

For those looking for dry ice, it can be found here for $2.25/pound with a 5lb, minimum, perfect for those looking to bring back frozen or cold items on a plane ride home. Customer service is prompt. The shop closes early for those taking a midnight flight out of AK and in need of keeping items frozen or cold for a long haul journey.

With Delta, I get here frequently. The folks at 10th & M never disappoint. Very helpful and nice. They will box and package your order for travel. Store it in the hotel freezer and it's fine for the flight home. Pay with cash and it's cheaper than credit.

The only few times I have been to this establishment was to send frozen salmon, halibut, rockfish, ....etc... to the lower 48. I have never been disappointed. They are excellent in that arena--:} I"ve only sent a handful of packages through them, but it has been A+ . The shipping prices (not under their control) have increased considerably, otherwise I would ship more seafood and fish to my family.

This is a fabulous place to buy halibut, salmon, red Alaskan king crab, etc! They pack to take home and have a web sight that you can order from! This is a must when we are in Alaska OR when we are not and wish we were!!

Stopped in here just before heading home to Boston. Super friendly, knowledgable staff that helped us with getting everything back as easily and cheaply as possible. The food we've used so far has been great. Highly recommended and will definitely be stopping in on our next trip.

Needed my catch frozen and dry ice for my flight home, discovered lot of things to buy too. Arrived the morning of my flight to pick up my order. GLAD I DOUBLE CHECKED- nothing I had purchased had made it in the box.

I have to say that their customer service deserves something higher than 5 stars, but that is the most I can give. I had a slight issue that I wrote to them about and their efforts to resolve the situation and make sure that I was a satisfied customer were top notch. I have been a returning customer for a number of years and I will continue to be. I highly recommend them.
