I feel scammed by this hotel. They have an "top producer" award displayed in their reception for most rooms sold in 2024. How they achieved this, is by selling more rooms than they have available. When the guest arrives they make an excuse about airconditioning not working, and they place the guest in their sister hotel down an alleyway. As compensation they may offer you a free drink or pizza in their restaurant.
The manager gave us an "upgraded" room because we were unhappy with the treatment the first night.
The room itself smelled of damp, which explains the black mold in the shower. The mirror was flaking, and the soap dispenser was falling off the wall, and there was still some rubbish on the floor. The bed has hard springs throughout and flat pillows. Looking at the floorplan, we were fortunate to have a window, because several rooms are enclosed by the building, it gave a view of scaffolding, the neighbouring building, and if you stood at the wall you could get a peek of the harbour.
The airconditioning regularly made loud noises throughout the night, but it worked. Maybe it worked thanks to the toiletroll they wedged into it.
Since it is advised not to drink tap water in Malta, they kindly provide water dispensers on two (?) floors. Sadly they don't tell you about this, so at 3am I had to walk down to the reception to ask where to get water. Luckily for us it was on our floor, so it took only a one minute walk through a maze of corridors.
The first morning we were lucky to have breakfast as we woke up early. The breakfast gives a good impression of the hotel's choices: price before quality, and this is noticeable. The second day we arrived around 9, and there was no space available, so we left and had breakfast elsewhere.
That afternoon we decided to visit the rooftop solarium, which was closed. Luckily they do offer free access to the pool across the road. When we walked back to the hotel, we met some other people who were being pushed to their sister hotel with the same excuse.
I generally do not believe in giving one star reviews, but this hotel has actually clouded any positive memories we had on Malta. I will work hard to forget about this hotel, and would advise people to avoid it.
