It is with great sadness and disappointment to be writing this review. Yesterday my friends and I went to the restaurant on 12 on Hillel villa and spa, the place is stunning however, upon our arrival when we wanted to order drinks and food we were told that the chef and the bar tender were out. We waited for +- 30 minutes for them to come back. Upon their arrival the bar tender gave us the menu to choose drinks from, we then ordered strawberry Daiquiri he then told us that he doesn’t have a blender we should order something else, we proceed and ordered different cocktails only to find out that our Straws were cut into halves and you could tell by the rough edges on the other side, the drinks also took way too long to arrive. We proceeded to order food, we wanted prawns which were in the menu that was presented to us then the chef says he doesn’t have prawns, then we opted for dessert which was cheesecake and he also didn’t have that, bottom line is everything that we wanted was not provided for us but it was on the menu. It is really disappointing to have such a bad service. We really hope that these issues could be sorted out so that people can have a better experience.

Stayed here with my partner in April 2017 for one night. Like others have said, the floors and beds are creaky and loud and overall the ambiance is uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Although in a nice neighbourhood the location is out of the way. Yes the place is nice (modern and expensive looking) but the rooms are pretty basic. ||||We can live with all that without much worry, however, what really did it for us was the owners. When our taxi dropped us off here the automatic gate closed on the taxi itself causing scratches to the car. The owner came out and was very rude to the taxi driver. We felt terrible for the driver, his car was severely scratched and the owner was quick to complain about potential damage to the gate; there was none. With that behind us we checked in and moved on. ||||We ordered food to the house for dinner, since there is not much close by to eat, and when I went down to pay the delivery man the owner came out. It was my last night in SA and I was happy to offload my loose change to the delivery man as a tip. When I handed the man the tip the owner grabbed it out of his hand and told me with a stern tone that I cannot give him this, it was too much. It wasn’t more than $10, and it was my choice. There was some uncomfortable tension to say the least. ||||Those were just two of the interactions with the male owner, the female owner was not much better. They both came off as patronizing and elitist. We felt not welcome by the owners in general, however, there was one staff member at the reception that was friendly and courteous. ||||Overall, although it has the basic amenities and is a nice looking place, we just did not like our interactions with the owners and found the atmosphere unwelcoming. I would not recommend this place particularly because I don’t support the owners and the attitudes they have towards others.

Such a place should not be in a residential area as the noise in this place is deafening. Week after week I hear noise and I'm a few blocks away. I can only imagine what the poor neighbours have to go through. I will also question the construction work at the property especially with the wall that fell next door including the deck that was recently put. Disaster waiting to happen.

I am not a big fan of Johannesburg but unfortunately we have to go through to JHB from time to time. We decided to stay in a different area other than Sandton for a change and we were plesantly surprised at how lovely the North cliff area is. 12 on Hillel was a great choice. The host, Phia, is very friendly and accommodating. The room we were in was large and spacious and elegantly decorated. The bed was comfortable, and there was everything you needed from good wifi, DSTV, aircon etc The views however were my favourite thing. You can see for miles and the view is absolutely stunning! For the first time I can actually say that Johannesburg looked pretty to me! We also took a run up to the Northcliff Eco Estate (a bit of a hilly climb) but the views from there are also well worth it and you get some good exercise in.|They serve a lovely continental breakfast consisting of yoghurts, cereals, boiled eggs, cold meats and cheeses etc. It was a very satisfying breakfast. They have a stunning pool which looked very inviting but unfortunately we had to leave early otherwise we would have most certainly had a dip. We will definitely stay here again!

Where to start!! Going to be with the most amazing view?? Check! Sleeping in an amazing bed?? Check! Waking up with the most amazing view?? Check! Enjoying an amazing breakfast?? Check! Friendly hosts?? Check! All around really a very enjoyable stay which I have done about 3 times this year alone, even though I live about 5km away, I consider staying here a well-deserved mini-vacation!! In fact, I will be booking in next week for a mid-week breather from a busy schedule!

The place is good with nice rooms however i am going to rate it out of 10 as follows; 1) The service i will give it 1 out of 10. I had to spend 20 minutes on the gate in the cold waiting for someone to open. I called a number of times and noone picked up my calls. When they finally opened the lady did not even apologize she just mentioned that you did not tell us what time you are coming. 2) The room i will give it a 8 out of 10, the rooms are nice and spacious the only problem was that the aircon was not working and it was freezing then they gave me a small heater which was also not that effective. 3) The breakfast 2 out of 10, its nothing to count on, rather book with no breakfast. I would not book there again.

What a absolutely pleasant experience. I stay in guests houses and hotels in excess of 20 times per year and am surprised by the reviews below, is we had a room with mirrors, bed side tables, clothing steamer, dustbin, additional blankets, TV, heater and such friendly hosts. In addition to staying there, we had dinner guests and the hosts very graciously received them. Everything about this trip was pleasant and positive. From booking in, accommodation, meals and the general ambience. I am surprised by the negative comments...who are you? the queen of England who eats Salmon for breakfast?? The furniture is antique, so the bed will creek. If you say the rates are higher than other establishments, you are probably referring to a Formula 1 Hotel. I think it is a taste full, very reasonable fabulous establishment and I intend to tell that to anybody who asks. I have already referred them to a family member as well as a business associate.

My guests stayed at this accommodation whilst in the north of Johannesburg and were very happy with the place. The staff are friendly and this is a very trendy modern facility with great breakfasts and well equipped rooms. Any problems they had were quickly sorted out with no fuss. The views over Johannesburg are great. The accommodation is ideally sited close to the business district of Johannesburg as well as the Cresta Mall by car. We will use this accommodation again.
