12Decades Art Hotel

Had a 2 day stay with friends, at the Copper Penthouse and we absolutely loved it. It was very spacious and had a gorgeous interior. We were planning on spending a lot of time doing outside activities but we ended up spending more time indoors because it was just so nice. The location was great because we could easily access bars and restaurants and cool activities. The only downside was the noise from the clubs and bars at night but it added to the vibe and lively nature of Maboneng. Would definitely recommend for a group of young enthusiasts, wanting to explore.

The room was cute. And that is where it ends. The fitted sheet had what looks like a blood stain. The TV didn’t work. The WIFI didn’t work. The music from the club across the street was so loud that the windows were rattling. This place is all style and no substance. Not worth staying here

My check-in time was sent to me via email. The time was 10am. I arrived shortly after and was told that check in time was 2pm. I showed the receptionist the mail and she said ok that the room had been cleaned. The lift was broke. So we had to walk up 14 flights of stairs as I was on the 7th floor and the rooms are double volume. The room was a 5 out 10 for cleanliness and the bin still had beer cans and rubbish from the previous guests. The room was positioned opposite the major clubs, including a roof top bar which was at eye sight, looking straight into the room. Music is played at full blast all day and all night, it felt as if I was sleeping inside a club. The sun poured in all day making the room extremely hot. There was a fan and another thing that looked air con related but neither worked. Fridge was dirty and the TV was there for show as no channels worked. The receptionist said she would be back with the WiFi code but never came back. Maboneng is an incredibly vibrant area with many amazing trendy people and places. Although I was there for business I met a cool crew and went out a a few nights. Bertrand cafe is one of the coolest cafes and really saved the experience for me. 12 Decades should be upfront with guests regarding rooms facing the main road as not everyone is there for a party. If you’re looking for cheap accommodation to crash at after a huge night then yes, go for it. If not then stay far away..

The room looked super cool, absolutely unique with the art pieces. Beautiful view. Most comfortable bed. Great amenities. The shower was a let down. A bit of maintenance is required on it or even replace the tiling completely and sort out the drain. The TV was not working. But overall a good budget place for an overnight stay

From arrival we had problems. We got there and had to wait more than 2 hours after check in time because they were not prepared and the room wasn't clean. We had to fight to finally check in. The rooms were great, location was also great but they have the worst service. We paid for parking and they did not give us a key card, we had to beg and get yelled at each time we wanted to leave or come back into the building or the car guards would demand more money.We had to call the person we booked with to finally get help. Definitely would not go back

If I could give it 0 stars I would. Firstly it is not a hotel at all, but an apartment block. There was no one at reception. There was no hospitality at all. We changed rooms as first room didn't have working lights (light bulbs missing from bathroom) moved to a second room which had dirty bed linen. It is not at all what it was put across to be on the website. There was so much noise from the surrounding clubs that we couldn't sleep until 5am on our first night and by 9pm on our second night we realised we had to leave and could thankfully be accommodated with friends. Now requesting a refund for the last 3 nights that we couldn't spend there. Absolutely atrocious accommodation and false advertising.

There are thieves in this hotel, perhaps even the staff themselves, and absolutely no accountability for this, starting with the owner on down. I had multiple things stolen from my room - portable chargers, adapters, a pair of nice pants, really any item that has quick and easy re-sale value. The security downstairs has no coordination or interest in the hotel. There's sort of a chilled out and 'i don't care' vibe, and the fact that someone was able to access my room and steal multiple items is very disturbing. Worst of all Bonga, who works at this hotel could not have cared less and actually tried to avoid talking with me about what occurred. Don't stay here.

Loved the room I stayed Main Street constellation, it becomes alive during the night on the vibey streets of Maboneng. Wifi poor signal and the air-con not getting cold enough. Clean inside and outside.
