132 Claypot Rice

Been craving claypot rice and this was one of the ones I shortlisted in my pins - did not disappoint!!! The ingredients were well balanced, chicken was very tender and the slices of Chinese sausage and scatterings of salted fish added a wonderful element of complexity to the dish. Highly recommend adding salted egg yolk. Wait can be long but you can call ahead of time - I pre ordered snd only waited 10 minutes upon arrival to the hawker. Auntie is polite and friendly too.

A PLACE TO COME BACK FOR MORE We have been huge fans for claypot rice, but have yet to find a good one. This modest stall seems to always have a number of diners queuing so we decided to give it a try one fine day. The wait was about 20 mins that night and it was totally worth it. Nice texture of rice and the lap-chong was a lot better compared to anywhere else. A generous portion of salted fish topped the rice. Well mixed and you, again found it’s worth the wait. I, myself, especially love the rice and how they made it on the spot after every order. Can’t wait to come back for more.

05/Mar/2025 Had Claypot Chicken Rice ($7) for dinner, was extremely good. I like the fact that they serve Claypot Rice for 1 person. To cut the waiting time, you can call them in advance.

Ordered the 2 Pax portion of claypot chicken rice. Taste was ok with well marinated chicken, thin slivers of Lup Cheong and scraps of greens. For $16, could have given more ingredients and sauce. Salted fish was very little too. Overall it was fine but had to wait 25 minutes so will think twice about ordering again.

Overall good claypot chicken rice! The rice at the bottom was super crispy and the chicken was moist. However, there’s not much flavour to the overall dish. I paid the extra $2 for the Chinese sausage (recent increase by $1) which really enhanced the dish and not sure how good it would have been without it.

Decent claypot rice. Worth every penny. Rice is moisture. Salted fish has best taste among others. Many other food options while waiting. Definitely would recommend to tourist to try this sg local delight.

Such small portions. Is this a portion for 2 pax? ($12) I find it hard to believe and feel very cheated. Should’ve stuck to the $7 for 1 pax. (picture is uneaten. Rice on top cos I shake the bowl to mix).

We had already eaten dinner but decided to try this claypot chicken rice because of the good Google reviews. The chicken itself was decent, but the claypot rice was just average — definitely not the best you can find in Singapore. What really spoiled the experience was the service. The auntie taking orders had a bad attitude. We ordered a claypot rice for one pax (S$7) with extra Chinese sausage (+S$2), total S$9, intending to share. When the food was ready, I politely asked for two small bowls. She replied rudely that for a “one pax portion” only one bowl is given. This is unreasonable, especially at a well-known hawker centre like Old Airport Road that attracts both locals and tourists. Not everyone wants to eat a full portion — sometimes people just want to try. Why be so stingy over one extra bowl? It leaves a poor impression and doesn’t encourage customers to return.
