9 Best Hawker Centers in Singapore—and What to Eat There - AFAR

"A claypot rice stall that cooks each portion to order, yielding fragrant rice with lightly charred bits topped with chicken and savory Chinese sausage and salted fish; customers are encouraged to scrape up the prized scorched rice and can add salted egg yolk for extra richness." - Charlene Fang

Order $7 claypot chicken rice. Wait time was 15min on a weekend off peak timing. Summary Rice : great Chicken : master Lup cheong : great Vege : juicy Rice was white, owner offer to add dark sauce, she added a lot. This was a good thing. For lesser crump stir early and the white rice below will at least get the dark sauce. Still there are still quite a bit stuck but nevertheless the amount of crispy to fluffy rice was good. Chicken was tender and flavorful. The chili was pretty spicy or at least spiciest I had from claypot rice stall. Give an extra kick. Lup cheong was above average with nicer bite and a sweet profile. Vegetables were fresh cut, stir it up and it is still juicy.

Been craving claypot rice and this was one of the ones I shortlisted in my pins - did not disappoint!!! The ingredients were well balanced, chicken was very tender and the slices of Chinese sausage and scatterings of salted fish added a wonderful element of complexity to the dish. Highly recommend adding salted egg yolk. Wait can be long but you can call ahead of time - I pre ordered snd only waited 10 minutes upon arrival to the hawker. Auntie is polite and friendly too.

A PLACE TO COME BACK FOR MORE We have been huge fans for claypot rice, but have yet to find a good one. This modest stall seems to always have a number of diners queuing so we decided to give it a try one fine day. The wait was about 20 mins that night and it was totally worth it. Nice texture of rice and the lap-chong was a lot better compared to anywhere else. A generous portion of salted fish topped the rice. Well mixed and you, again found it’s worth the wait. I, myself, especially love the rice and how they made it on the spot after every order. Can’t wait to come back for more.

The stall was crowded but had I put in my order earlier. I was given a numbered pager and my order written down on a notebook by an old lady at the stall. The book was left open and so everyone could see how their order was progressing in the Q. Then I noticed the old lady at the stall filling orders of “friends” before mine outside the Q on the note book. I hate to think there was preference to regular customers first priority over earlier orders or something more to it. Like many in Singapore I understand 3 languages and it wasn’t difficult to follow the proceedings. Neither the old lady or the chef were on the phone or texting My order took over half hour and was only filled when I asked to cancel it. Never again worse service ever. The food just so so but the service was just terrible .

Overall good claypot chicken rice! The rice at the bottom was super crispy and the chicken was moist. However, there’s not much flavour to the overall dish. I paid the extra $2 for the Chinese sausage (recent increase by $1) which really enhanced the dish and not sure how good it would have been without it.

Decent claypot rice. Worth every penny. Rice is moisture. Salted fish has best taste among others. Many other food options while waiting. Definitely would recommend to tourist to try this sg local delight.

05/Mar/2025 Had Claypot Chicken Rice ($7) for dinner, was extremely good. I like the fact that they serve Claypot Rice for 1 person. To cut the waiting time, you can call them in advance.

Ordered the 2 Pax portion of claypot chicken rice. Taste was ok with well marinated chicken, thin slivers of Lup Cheong and scraps of greens. For $16, could have given more ingredients and sauce. Salted fish was very little too. Overall it was fine but had to wait 25 minutes so will think twice about ordering again.
