Currently under construction 👷🚧 The plans look really good. The memorial is intended to be a communal place where both remembrance and living democracy can take place. I'm excited to see the results. So important that this place exists.

Largely overlooked by most tourists, this memorial is worth a visit for the stirring story it tells. The exhibits are a bit overdue for a renovation. But there’s a copy of a special section from the Bangkok Post at the time displayed, and if you take the time, it makes for a great read.

This place is very close to the Democracy Monument, but obscured from sight and not obviously seen. Some people say it is intentionally hidden because it is an embarrassment to the military... You should visit and every single visitor to Thailand, after seeing the beautiful pictures from the tourism authority, should learn about the events of 14th October 1973 ('sip see tu laa' in Thai) because it's a disgrace that it is not taught in Thai schools, and rarely acknowledged elsewhere. Then research 6th October 1976, Black May, the Krue Sae mosque, Tak Bai, and the 2010 demonstrations.

A document of a more unknown part of Thai history, far away from the common image of "land of smile". Saddly the exhibition is written in Thai. But the pictures have been worth to watch them. For history interested people a good place.

Very nice monument. The popular uprising of 14 October 1973 or October 14 Event"; or "Day of Great Sorrow" was a watershed event in Thailand's history. The uprising resulted in the end of the ruling military dictatorship of anti-communist Thanom Kittikachorn and altered the Thai political system. Notably, it highlighted the growing influence of Thai university students in politics.

Get to see a sad part of Thai’s history and learn more about it in the explanations around the monument. That part is also open to the public.
