First, a quick tip: See a bad review? Always look for a response or a reply from the company, or leasing company in this case. You'll find that will tell you SO MUCH about the company the bad review was left for. Spoiler Alert: Sunset + Vine and Windsor Communities get an A+ as a business for this.
If we've learned anything over the past few years during the pandemic it's this: #1 - everyone has an opinion and the louder and more #2 - Having friends/family/community close by and building and maintaining a strong support system for yourself is incredibly important, and #3 - at any given moment we can be told to go into our homes and not come out for months at a time. Lol Needless to say, as a whole we learned very deeply that the place we call home is much MUCH more than a place to sleep and shower (that goes especially for those of us who travel for work a lot). It gave me a lot of time to think about what I really wanted in/for my home, what I wanted to add/improve/remove on in my next home, and lastly a list of wants/dreams for my next place that I called my "Mega Bonus List." After searching for what felt like years (it was years lol) I found Sunset + Vine and added it to my super long bookmark list of complexes to look at, but before I closed the tab like on most of them, I was prompted to take a self-guided or guided tour and just pick and date/time right there. Boom. Done. Couldn't have been easier. S+V jumped to the top of my bookmarks immediately because even just that gave me a good impression.
We walked in to a GORGEOUS lobby that you wouldn't expect from the street because the exterior of the entrance is definitely lacking in "presence," but not something that was a deterrent whatsoever. There was construction EVERYWHERE and quite a bit of mess when we toured - but more on why that was a selling point later. Greeted by the 24/7 Concierge/Security people and front desk which I LOVED knowing that was a thing here. Were walked into the leasing office where we met Delanie, our leasing consultant. Spoiler Alert: I could write an entire review about this tour experience and Delanie but I'll wrap it with this - we hadn't left the lobby yet and we would have signed right there. Delanie was incredible. Period. She wasn't selling us anything, she was having a conversation with us and was being fully transparent and authentic and honest in her presentation and in how she answered our questions. While I am telling you to ask for Delanie because we love her, everyone in the office was fabulous. Which brings me to my next major point and topic...
When looking at reviews of an apartment complex, there are a few things that should be the most important things to look for. First and foremost, above all else, you want a management team that is ready, willing, and able to help and make sure you are taken care of from your first prospective visit and tour through your last day as a resident. Having a management team that realizes that the success of the company/complex depends on the happiness of the residents is paramount. Delanie?? She fully understood the assignment along with the entire management staff. (Writing this months after move-in and I can say that this has never changed like some places will after the signatures and move-in; They're still amazing. And that goes for the maintenance crew as well. Fast, effective and knowledgeable. Again, simple and correct. We love it.
Reviews are obviously inherently personal and based off someone's personal experience of a place/moment and reviews of apartment complexes are even more personal because it's either where you live/lived or where you thought you wanted to live. That being said, there are a lot of bad reviews for S+V that should be VERY highly disregarded.
There's so much I could write about for Sunset + Vine but I'm going to wrap it up with a quick list and then you need to come in and take a tour and experience it for yourself. It's fabulous, it's not faultless, but it's a place that I am VERY proud to call home and only get more excited as time goes on.
Pro's:
- The management team
- The selection of amenities are fantastic (THAT GYM AND SAUNA?! *mic drop*) and the commitment to improving the space is fabulous. All the construction and mess I spoke about? The mess was gone the next day, but the construction persisted and then I saw what they were adding and it looks like a gorgeous boutique Hollywood hotel - go by and see it. STUNNING. S+V has even more drip now.
- Apartment sizes, ceiling heights, and all the numerous shared spaces available outside of your apartment
- BONUS: The location is EVERYTHING. I couldn't be more in love with where we're located.
Con's:
- No free guest parking - this is a HUGE con and something that I really hope they'll be at least looking into, but it was the only con, so it was obviously a successful tour, signing and move-in.
