In early September my wife and I spent 3 nights in the CRM room. It is a COLOSSAL room--I paced it off as roughly 500 square feet not counting the bathroom/ensuite--with 3 (openable) floor-to-ceiling windows, 13-14 foot ceilings, exquisite moldings, and beautiful, tasteful decorations all over. It is one level above the street, yet there was almost no street noise and not a hint of the other guests. It has one of the most comfortable beds we've ever slept on--decidedly firm but not hard--and many subtle but appreciated touches like in-room tea and coffee service, with little sweet treats replenished daily, and a ground floor common room refrigerator for guest use, with provided beverages and storage space for restaurant leftovers. ||The building itself, while unimposing from the outside, is overall striking and impressive inside. It is in a great location for exploring Glasgow's West End, the University, the Kelvingrove Art Gallery, the Botanical Garden and the shops on Byres Rd and Great Western Rd. It is a 15-25 minute walk to downtown, depending upon your speed. We felt completely safe walking after dark. Almost no vehicle traffic.||It is not close to any subway station, but we always were able to get Ubers with minimal waiting time. Very reasonable in Glasgow.||Lorraine, the host, was extremely friendly, accommodating and helpful in every way we could have hoped. Excellent restaurant suggestions.||There are a few things to keep in mind, as they are not obvious on the website or in your confirmation email.||First, breakfast is served in your room, not in a common area where you interact with other guests, if the social element of staying at a B&B is important to you. Breakfast also is a modest affair--delicious, well-prepared and super punctual--but not the sort of massive overload of options some B&Bs offer.||Second, Lorraine asks all guests to remove shoes upon entering, and she provides a variety of slippers to wear inside if you wish. This was an unexpected inconvenience rather than a real problem.
