Google
Great Frozen yogurt shop for customizing how you prefer your yogurt. Many flavors to choose from and you can make your own creations. I got the Dubai Chocolate and it's delicious! It may be a bit pricey for some but maybe worth it for some just grabbing desserts.

I came here after a long hiatus from froyo. Not something I would ever crave again. The froyo is not creamy, it was icy and I got brain freeze from a small serving of it pretty quickly. Not sure about cleanliness of the place, there’s no telling what’s happening behind those soft serve machines.

Google
Convenient location to get something cool on a hot day. I feel the product here is not very creamy or tasty, it's mostly just cold. What I can say is they have a lot of flavors, they had 4 vegan ice cream options, and they have a lot of interesting toppings. But the sundae lacks any creaminess or flavor, and the atmosphere of this outlet is basic. Friendly staff.

Matthew “Matty”

Google
Amazing service team and amazing topping selections! Machines are always working! Wish the would bring back cinnamon streusel topping!

Google
Good variety of flavors (ice cream, froyo, sorbet, and oatmilk froyo), and love that all the nutrition information is displayed for each flavor. Good choice of toppings (brownies, cookies, fruit, etc.). The workers were also polite and kept the toppings counters clean every second they had.

Heba

Google
Came here to try the KETO brownie soft serve ice cream. It taste like dark chocolate with a little bit of an aftertaste. No nut-only toppings. I don’t think I’ll be coming here for this specific ice cream.

Debby Klein

Google
We love all the 16 Handles flavors and the variety of toppings, nuts, syrups. Stir it up for a tasty ice cream dessert.

Virginia Crespo

Google
Wonderful flavours and mix of toppings so you can create your own. This is the type of shop where you do it yourself and pay per weight. Likely you'd like to go again if you like frozen yogurt! The one in the pic costed 5,75 dollar

Yelp
16 handles is just alright. I tried them in two locations but the one in Williamsburg didn't have as good of a review as this one so I gave it a second shot. Since last time I spent $12 I wanted to spend a little less so I only tried peanut butter, vanilla and Nutella. It still ended up being around $9 which would have been double this size if I went to Baskin Robbins. Anyway the vanilla was okay. The peanut butter didn't taste very much like peanut butter to me. The Nutella didn't either but it wasn't bad. None of it was bad but it just wasn't fulfilling and was pretty mediocre. I wish the ice cream was more creamy. It feels like it kinda melts in your mouth more than it should. Shout out to the staff though. My friend left her purse and they kept it safe for her to come back later.

Yelp
I want this place to be better because it could be a refreshing, healthy treat in walking distance from where I work. But it's just not. The place smells powerfully of sanitizer. The original tart flavor is so thin and not at all creamy. Plus, it always gives me a brain freeze. The walnuts in syrup are stale. The fruit looks old and moldy. The worst part is, it's very expensive for all of this mediocrity. Employees are generally young and nice, but the product leaves a lot to be desired.

Yelp
Really don't go here. The place is badly maintained and a lot of the handles and flavors didn't work. For the few machines that did work, the froyo came out with an inconsistent texture. What's worse is that we watched multiple customers and kids coming in, getting their toppings and touching the topping spoons with their own froyo. The toppings counter was a mess and all mixed up. Pretty bad waste of money. Would highly recommend not going here, there are better options.

Yelp
I'm mad at myself for not coming here sooner. This used to be the location of a burger place that I loved. So I have a personal vendetta against this place. Well, I finally came here and I'm happy to squash the beef. The frozen yogurt is delicious with plenty of flavors and toppings to choose from. There are even healthier options for the yogurt. I was worried that my cup would weigh too much but it came out to just $10. I'll be back here, a great place to grab some desert.

Yelp
Omg, this was the worst frozen yogurt experience I may have ever had. Where do I start? The homeless woman sitting in the back literally in front of two flavors having an entire conversation on her phone in a 16 handles seat. The multiple broken flavors. The filthy toppings with things littered from other containers in each. Or could it be getting to the register where there is only one employee and being charged over $16 for two teeny cups of yogurt. If I could cuss in this review I would. The only reason I didn't leave it there at the register was because I'd already committed to putting yogurt in my cups, ugh and the poor cashier seemed so resigned. NEVER THE (expletive) AGAIN. Disgusting! Do better owners! And yes you may contact me for a refund!!!! Nasty, don't go here!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is beyond filthy. Not only is it dirty and looks like it hasn't been cleaned or sanitized, THE SMELL IN HERE WAS HORRENDOUS. It reeked of spoiled/rotten milk. It's impossible to ignore. What's worse is that it reeked from the machines itself. The toppings were in disarray, leaving a lot of things mixed in together. Overall, this place needs to be inspected. It's completely disgusting and left me with the ultimate ick.
google avatar

George M.

Yelp
The only handle needed here is for the Owner to get a handle on cleaning up his business. Was there last night,7/27, and to say it was filthy inside is an understatement. The self machines were dirty and the cup area filled with melted yogurt. The floor was beyond not only filthy but literally sticky on the bottom of my shoes. I wouldn't even consider getting any toppings, as that was a sloppy mess too. If the restaurant inspector came in, the place would get an F.

Kathleen N.

Yelp
Although the yogurt tasted fine, the trays under where one gets the yogurt were very messy and needed cleaning
google avatar

Yelp
I think frozen yogurt is like that experience a lady needs to comprehend something. "Clears throat" I stay moisture because of frozen yogurt at the right time at the right place with my boyfriend laughing at all of my favorite health freaky fruits and probiotics in what not!
google avatar

Yelp
Overpriced! We were charged $25 for 2 small cups. At PinkBerry, this would have been $12 max. Not sure what's going on with their pricing or how they weigh the cups but that is some definite price-gouging! Save your money and buy a $7 ice cream pint at the grocery store; froyo isn't worth $12 per a small cup.
google avatar

Yelp
The vegan chocolate and mango sorbetto are good but there was a hair in the PB cup topping but what was really gross was watching two braided women sample every flavor using cup after cup, eating with their fingers and touching every handle then tossing entire cups of food. Truly shocking behavior.

Yelp
Great self-service frozen yogurt shop with several flavors! My bf and I visited this fun and brightly lit shop on a Sunday night. There were a handful of people popping in and out while we were there but we encountered no wait or hassle. The shop was very clean and well organized. It had 14 different flavors (2 machines were out of order) at the time of our visit and the huge topping bar was well stocked. The yogurt was tasty. Service was friendly. Pricing was good. We were very happy with our visit.

Yelp
I love frozen yogurt so I was very excited to try this chain, which we don't have where I live. I enjoyed the unique flavors of froyo and the variety of toppings they offered. The Tahitian vanilla had a subtle but good flavor to it and the toppings were delicious. The mint chocolate chip flavor was also very subtle but tasty. The only downside was their original tart flavor tasted very artificial and they had only strawberry as their fruit topping options. I personally like to get the original tart with lots of fruit when I get froyo so not having that as an option is a bummer. It did force me to try something new though, which I enjoyed but probably wouldn't get every time. Luckily, there are several flavors so endless combination of creations to make!

Yelp
I actually heard that this place had dairy free options while I was in NY and had to investigate. As soon as I got in, I realized that all the dairy free options contained banana and coconut and I am deathly allergic to both, so there went my idea of a good time! It diddnt stop me from trying everything on the menu though. I actually tried everything I wasn't allergic to and loaded it up with every topping. This place is cute and clean and the service is friendly. If you are not a dairy person and not allergic to banannas or coconut like me...then they have a froxen yogurt with coconut water and a banana cashew nut milk fro yo. I'm not giving it 5 stars beacuse I've seen a whole bunch of frozen yogurt places and there was really nothing extremely unique about this place. It's just a basic little frozen yogurt shop that hits the spot if your in the mood and walking by.

Michele E.

Yelp
Fro yo at its best--they even have an icecream or two! The edible cookie dough topping is worth the visit!

Justin H.

Yelp
Walked to the store. NO VANILLA ICE CREAM!!! That's crazy. Got 16 flavors and don't have that.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
I am so exited that 16 handles has decided to pair with cookie DŌ nyc ! And not only that .... the collaboration that they have decided to do is a vegan one ! I tried both vegan flavors that they have come out with and the cookie dough flavor is much better than the chocolate flavor just because the consistency is way better and came out kind of runny from the machine I don't know if I was just there at an off time for that but will have to give t another try. I also love that they now have balls of cookie dough as a topping option in both regular and vegan options. I love trying all the different collaborations that 16 handles has been doing and can't wait to see what's next ... hoping for more vegan options and collaborations in the future.

Yelp
It was after dinner and my sister and I really wanted something sweet. We didn't want to commit to a dessert at a restaurant and each wanted a little something different. So off to 16 Handles we went. The variety of flavors here is pretty good. You can sample them before you go all in for your yogurt cup. There are sugar free options, sorbets, yogurts and gelato. The toppings are a free-for-all and are arguably the best part of this place. I really liked the Reese's cookie dough and all the cereal toppings. The raspberry drizzle was great as well. Pricing is comparable to other self-serve frozen yogurt joints.

Shay G.

Yelp
Just left the store and it was too hot to be inside!! I do not know how they are asking these kids to work it was hotter inside than it was outside and it is 95°. I definitely a concerned for the health and welfare of the kids working in the store. Seriously something needs to be done the AC is not on!!

Ben J.

Yelp
loved the cookie dough. the staff was amazing. they had great options and the seating was chill

Yelp
How did I not know about this amazing and delicious confectionery? My boyfriend had been raving about '16 Handles' for awhile. I'm not a fan of frozen yogurt, so I didn't think anything of it. I didn't even know they sold other types of frozen treats. But lo and behold, we were in the area and he suggested we get some after a long day of biking. The store is taking great measures to reduce the occurrence of COVID-19. Upon walking in, there is no indoor seating. You must grab a pair of gloves prior to serving yourself. there are a number of machines in the back of the store with a variety of soft serve, frozen treats including traditional vanilla ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, and even an oat milk ice cream. It's a great place for anyone who likes frozen treats but either doesn't consume animal/dairy, is allergic, or in my boyfriends' case, is lactose intolerant. After choosing your soft serve, there is a bar of toppings to choose from. I mean everything from cereal, cookies, to gummy bears, and chocolate syrup. It's truly a place to 'have it your way'. I opted for a little of plain vanilla ice cream and birthday cake ice cream topped with Oreo cookie pieces and whipped cream. My boyfriend had coconut flavored frozen yogurt topped with coconut flakes, rainbow sprinkles, Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, and gummy bears. The price of your treat is based on weight - so you can splurge or be as light as you want lol. My boyfriend got a large cup, I had a small. Altogether $28, not bad in my opinion. As far as the taste, it was absolutely delicious! The texture was very smooth and creamy. Not too sweet either, altogether a great balance. Service was attentive, kind and patient. Overall, a great experience which I will share with others. I will definitely return and I hope they open more throughout the city (pretty please!).

Yelp
I stumbled upon this location around where I work. It's an average size for a frozen yogurt shop. They have a fair amount of seating for the actual size of the shop. What I really like was their assortment of flavors. They had a good variety, only 2 of the flavors stopped working. The amount of topping they offer is what I love the most. And if you are vegan, they offer a lot of vegan options. The one thing I didn't like, was the amount of children that came to this location. It's definitely not a location I would actually sit and enjoy my yogurt, I'd rather take it go to avoid the noice and the crowds. But if you're in the neighborhood, definitely stop in.
google avatar

Bernie D.

Yelp
Not sure what the rave is, this stuff has no taste unless you load it with toppings. We got three different flavors all were equally bad. Worst was the price almost $80 Per. Go elsewhere
google avatar

Taylor A.

Yelp
This place is great! I loved TCBY but I think 16 Handles beats it - they've got more flavors and toppings! I definitely recommend, and I want to try their smoothies next time.

Yelp
Omg. This place stinks!! I came here with a girl and had such a bad experience. The server could barely understand me, it made me feel like I was talking in another language.. I do not recommend. In fact, I strongly advise against. P.S. I'm so ticked off.
google avatar

Emily K.

Yelp
Yum. My go-to dessert place, where I can choose unlimited flavors and toppings in custom ratios. I'm very particular with my cravings, and get annoyed with other places limiting flavors or toppings, and then also deciding the portion of each ingredient. This location is great in that they seem to participate in all the special deal days. (not all locations seem to participate) Tip: always get a few paper sample cups from the register before heading over to the flavors, so you can sample a few first. They always have new flavors, even if you're a regular.
google avatar

Fateha A.

Yelp
I got the Euro Tart, the Green Apple Sorbet, the Mango Sorbet & the Mint Chocolate Chip. The 1st 3 were tart. It was good. The service was good. Not much more to say. 1st time at this location & the experience was good. I never finish my froyo though no matter where I go cuz I can't take too much frozen food.
google avatar

Yelp
I am really surprised by all the high ratings. I have been to this location several times and use the app regularly. However I have never seen all 16 handles working. At least one is always broken. Isn't that false advertising? I went there last night and 2 handles were broken. The prices are also super high and the don't show the calculation of the price on the receipt. I got a half-filled pink cup with no toppings and it was $7+. Not sure if they raised their prices or what but fro yo should not be this expensive, even in Chelsea ...

Marc O.

Yelp
This is one of worst companies I have tried to do business with. I added $20 to my 16 Handles account. I went to 3 different locations and none of them would honor the money I added to their app. I even tried calling their main office but no one returned my calls. $20 Down The Drain!

Valerie G.

Yelp
I love 16 handles but honestly it was more sanitary during the full blown pandemic than it was today. It was so crowded. The toppings bar was a hot mess, but what really made me leave was there was this guy sampling flavors with a little mini tasting cup. And he would like lick his finger and then use the same hand to touch the handles. So gross.
google avatar

Indra R.

Yelp
I LOVE frozen yogurt, and 16 handles has the best flavors. I typically go for the fruitier flavors, but the location in chelsea has a tendency to stock on the creamy kind. Even so, 16 handles never disappoints with their toppings, including mochi, fruity boba, cheesecake bites and the syrups which no one else has like raspberry and honey. I give this location 4 stars because it is smaller and so it tends to crowd, and i've accidentally found myself in someone's froyo before. A few times upwind coming here, one or 2 of the flavor machines have been out of order, but besides that the service is friendly and helpful if something is missing and generous if you need a taste test.
google avatar

Natalie K.

Yelp
Good vegan froyo options here! There is usually at least 1 to 2 sorbet options and 1 soy froyo option, labeled clearly as vegan!! This 16 handles usually has the soy "creamy" froyo although I haven't seen it at other locations. I think this is what sets 16 handles apart! You can usually find sorbet dairy free froyo at other stores though. Even the toppings are clearly labeled if vegan. Lots of fruit at toppings bar! They are willing to give sample cups so that's nice! Price is reasonable. I got a reasonably big cup for $3.70! I like the acai sorbet a lot. Really refreshing. The soy vanilla froyo is delicious and super creamy! I like the vanilla over the chocolate which wasn't chocolate enough for me. From what I remember it tastes like soft serve ice cream! For non vegans: they have waffle cones if you want to put your froyo in it. Great variety of other flavors too! They also have these awesome cup dividers if you wanna get 2 flavors without mixing. Genius! Nice clean store. Overall I would definitely come back here for my froyo fix !!

Yelp
I happen to be in the 9th Avenue area yesterday after 7pm and checked twitter that the new 16 Handles was having their Grand Opening today. I thought hey why not I can check it out. I am a fan of ice cream/frozen yogurt every now and then. This location is the 5th outpost in Manhattan. I got the small yogurt and mixed the Peanut Butter, My Greek Honey and Red Velvet. I kind of thought the new feature flavor- MY GREEK HONEY! was the best. Red Velvet, I do love as cake, but as yogurt, not so much. Only in small doses lets just say. Peanut butter flavor was pretty delicious as well, I recommend you try that one. Toppins I got were: Hot Fudge(so good), cookie dough crumbles, graham cracker and strawberries. -Since yesterday was the official Grand Opening, the also offered a 16% discount all day. They closed I believe at 2 am at night. The price is actually 52 cents per oz just based on weight, no matter how many toppings or anything. - My dish came to $4.94 after the discount and tax added. I was shocked but I guess I didn't pour as much out as I normally do. I usually have a hard time keeping the weight and cost under at least $6.70. Great job 16 Handles to open a new spot. -The location is a good spot, right on 8th avenue and the cross street is 19th street.

Yelp
Great name! You know, like 16 Candles movie from the 80s??? Great yogurt shop that was just a few blocks from where we called home for 8 days in NYC. They have great flavors (pomegranate something was the best). I got plain tart and coffee flavor. People working there were helpful and nice. Asked for samples and they were helpful. Made recommendations. Crowded at 10pm on Friday night as it should be!
google avatar

Franny A.

Yelp
Most authentic flavors, I have tasted in the "fro-you" innundation NY has received. Flavors like coffee break, strawberry banana, salted caramel and root beer float. Big clean corner spot in the hood with cushy green seating. A good spot before or apres film at Chelsea Cinemas. The toppings are standard......, but the yougurt yummy,

Yelp
I might be one of the only people in New York that's still 'team fro yo' and loves 16 handles. I've been here a couple of times. I feel like fro yo places are slowly starting to disappear now that people are realizing its actually not healthy for you. (Rip Yogurt Land) lol. Duh. I usually consume an entire portions worth of soft serve on samples alone before coming to a decision. But I still stand by with one of my favorite flavors being their peanut butter. They now have more outrageous toppings. I came in for their promotion of a free 3 ounces off an order. You can get entire black and white cookies, enormous balls of cookie dough, animal crackers, rainbow cookies, like coconut bars. I'm legitimately impressed. I didn't go so crazy on toppings the last time I went in and just got a scoop of cookie dough on some peanut butter/mint/nutella weird mixture. I kind of like this location more than the one in the east village. There are less drunks and more children and feels more family oriented. I actually was able to sit down at a table the couple of times I've been here and chill and enjoy my soft serve without some girl squealing in my ear. Two thumbs up.

Yelp
I showed my vaccination card and ID to Luis upon entry... He said "cool". After getting my self-serve yogurt to-go, Luis tells me with an ATTITUDE that I have to have my mask on because it's a mandate. I know it's a mandate, that's why I showed him my vaccination card and ID!!! And... both Luis and the other guy behind the counter had their masks on their chin! And, why were the rest of the people inside didn't have their masks on? Is this what you call customer service? This is the perfect place to end your beautiful evening into a DISASTER! This happened on Jan. 2, 2022 at 9:05 PM.

Isabelle K.

Yelp
Very outdated. Ice cream tasted... not right, stale toppings. Not good atmosphere either. Do not recommend at all.
google avatar

Alexandra L.

Yelp
The Quick: Froyo at its finest. Tons of toppings, minimal calories (in my dreams) and a comfy colorful spot to indulge. The Details: Everyone knows cake batter is the best flavor, but why not try every single flavor until you are too full to actually purchase any? Fro yo is an experience, and can easily be an inexpensive dinner Just watch out for the toppings, they inflate the price and add unnecessary calories. The Damage: It can range from $3-$10 but likely ~ $5

Spencer L.

Yelp
Would give negative if I can. To many times I order on seamless, and order is confirmed but never shows up. Luckily seamless must know and issue refunds. This always happens if you order near the closing time. The restaurant thinks they are sneaky doing so, so you can't call them directly to complain. Scam. Don't order online from this location.

Yelp
Likely my favorite dessert spot in New York. I don't know what it is, but something about self-serve fro-yo for a relatively cheap price just really appeals to me. I usually go for something of a chocolate peanut butter persuasion. However, I did try the birthday cake and the cereal milk flavors, and those were very solid. Yet, my go-to is usually chocolate or peanut butter fro-yo with crushed Oreos, Oreo bark, M&M's, and more chocolate-centric toppings. If I want to change it it up, I usually go fruit-centric, with the cheescake fro-yo with mochi, kiwi, and blackberry. In the realm of dessert, I actually think it's one of the cheaper options. You can get a decently sized cup for about $3.50. Yet, I can only imagine how much the stock photos provided would cost in real life. Service behind the counter at the location is usually very friendly and quick. Pro-tip: see how many sample cups they'll give you before they force you to buy something. I've gotten anywhere from 1-5 sample cups, and while I think 2-3 is fair, 1 sample cup is just too little. As I previously said, this location is easily my go-to dessert place these days, given its proximity to my apartment. I've taken a few dates here, and it's actually a pretty good move to see what kind of fro-yo and what toppings they go for, because to be honest, it's basically a way to stare into their soul. Haha, I'm totally just kidding about that last part and not speaking the truth at all.

Yelp
Really great dairy free options both w/ cashew milk and sorbets. Got the chocolate hazelnut truffle. Amazing!

Yelp
This was by far the WORST Froyo I've ever had at 16 Handles, however I will say the customer service was good. My purchase was 2 smaller cups to go with toppings & it was $32.46. Is there Vodka in froyo now? My base flavor was Birthday cake and no a stripper did not pop out. What did pop out was a chalky, runny and totally non-creamy yogurt. I felt like a kid who was given a birthday cake made of vegetables, it was awful. The second base I got from my girlfriend was Dutch chocolate, was less chalky a little creamier, but not great by any means. In closing, after the tipping the staff three dollars because they were very helpful, I went home with a $36 bill for yogurt that should've been in the trash can. No Bueno
google avatar

Hannah S.

Yelp
Me and my boyfriend ate froyo here three times on our vacation, lol. It is a self-serve bar of toppings, and it's very good. Be wary though, as it is charged by weight. :)

Neal P.

Yelp
If you want the best ice cream and best managed store in NYC, come to 16 handles. Amazing self serving tools, with great employees who were ready to help right away. They have new flavors weekly, and have the freshest produce out there. I highly recommend coming here for your dessert needs in the Chelsea area
google avatar

Adri P.

Yelp
Soooo many tasty toppings :))))) The flavors always taste like the flavor they're supposed to (hopefully that makes sense...e.g. The graham cracker flavor actually tastes like graham crackers. Yummmm.). The staff is friendly. Place is always clean. The only downside is their 16 Handles don't always work. Several flavors are often sold out or waiting to be "refilled" several hours before the store closes. Nonetheless, this is my go to froyo spot. + late night hours. Yaaas! Go! Now!

Yelp
Ahh yes the sensation of enjoying some cold frozen yogurt on a hot summer day after a spicy meal. One of the finer things in life. First things first: every time you walk by this fine establishment, you should stop in for a "sample". They'll likely give you 2 tiny cups, but if you're delicate, you can stretch each one across 3-4 flavors, not that I would know or anything. If you're going full speed here, don't make the rookie mistake of loading up all of the frozen yogurt and then putting the toppings where one would think they belong - on the top. Layering is absolutely key here. A little bit of froyo, some oreos, a little more froyo, some granola and so on. You get the point. They don't always have cinnamon rice pudding, but when they do, I'd highly recommend it. Graham cracker is another highlight not to be ignored. I read that they recently added an apple pie flavor. I NEED THIS NOW. If you see this anywhere, please DM me immediately. If you don't care about fitting into your skinny jeans the next day and it's not bathing suit season, go for the waffle cone...it's delish. I wouldn't go out of my way to come to this particular location, and I will say that the Tasti on 3rd ave probably has better toppings, but you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Kirsten H.

Yelp
Though considerably smaller than the other locations I've been to, this 16 Handles still has plenty of topping options and places to stand/sit and enjoy your treat. I love their flavor of the month (cookie butter!!) and hope they keep it around as a permanent flavor!

Dara P.

Yelp
Disgusting! This place has been filthy consistently for the last 3 years. Even in the summer, with several employees on duty, only one register is open (regardless of how long the line to pay is) and the place remains dirty. Today was the worst though--employees wore masks on their chins and refused to wear properly when asked. There may be nowhere else to get frozen yogurt in this neighborhood, but I do not need to get Covid to do it! This is literally the WORST 16 Handles franchise I have ever seen. Whatever management may say on these yelp reviews, nothing changes, and they clearly do not care.
