"If you’re in the mood for sushi, you should know that Hall in Chelsea has a few different options that you usually can’t get for delivery, like a 10-piece sushi set for $23 and a chef’s omakase that costs $98 and comes with 20 pieces of nigiri. There are also some burgers to choose from, as well as wine and beer available for delivery and pick-up online. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Yelp
We visited The Gallery for dinner on a Sunday night, having made a reservation in advance. They were very accommodating about letting us move it by 30 minutes, since we were running late. The interior really did look like a gallery, with large works of art on the walls. The one we were sitting next to looked like a super zoomed in photo of rice grains, which was quite fitting. For drinks, my sister and I both chose the Yuzu Breeze Mocktail, which had the perfect amount of sourness while still tasting refreshing. For food, we both decided to get Chef Hiroki Odos Tasting ($95/person) to try a bit of everything. The first course was the Seasonal Starter, which was the Toro Tartare. The Toro tasted so rich and high quality, and paired well with the golden osetra and white miso potato espuma. I'm usually not a huge fan of gelatinous textures, but it really worked here. The next course was Chef Odos "3 pieces of seasonal kushi-age selection", and we were given Jidori Chicken, Asparagus, and Bonito Fish. Again, not what we would normally choose, but all three were pretty good. The Bonito Fish was a bit too fishy for me, but we still enjoyed this course and the accompanying sauces. The next course was the Wagyu Shabu Shabu, which was probably our favorite. The broth had an amazing umami flavor and was surprisingly filling, and the thinly sliced A5 Wagyu was phenomenal. The final course was the Chef s Selection 4 pieces nigiri sushi and roll, which featured Salmon, Yellow Tail, Tuna and Toro. All the pieces were tasty, but the Toro really stole the show. The tasting menu was also the perfect portion size to satiate us without feeling too full. Overall, worth the visit!

Yelp
It's a little hard to categorize this place. Is it an izakaya? A sushi joint? A burger shop? Alas, I think trying to pigeon hole this place does it injustice. No matter what their category is, they do it well. The clean, fresh ingredients, plating and presentation, eating in an art gallery surrounded by beautiful works of art, and service are all here. Edamame is usually a throw away dish for me. Something I just order so I have something to munch on while having a beer waiting for the actual meal to start. Well, let me tell you, the edamame is fantastic here and worthy on its own merit. Very well charred which adds a deep umame that enhances the already nutty flavor of the soy beans. The kushiage was fun to eat. Fresh vegetables, seafood, and meats that were fried with a dusting of panko. It was light and not greasy and allowed me to taste the flavors of each item. The wagyu shabu shabu is not to be missed. The presentation was beautiful, quality of beef so luxurious, and the broth so delicious. They give you a little yuzu kosho (ground up chili peppers) that adds natural great little tartness and spspiciness to the broth. The sashimi and sushi were very traditional eno style with right balance of fish and rice (except for the cream cheese in the snow crab roll--dont order this one). Fish was fresh, of course. Finally I appreciated that they had some non-alcoholic drinks available including a mocktail and couple of sparkling teas. I wish they had some others like non-alcoholic wines. Anyway this place is perfect for date nights and for a casual (albest a bit of a splurge) night out.

Yelp
The Gallery is a really great treat - unique dining experience in a gallery! Tons of eye candy with great food. Tables are large and spacious and comfortable for my large party, which they were extremely accommodating with! We ordered a ton of items to share - everything we ordered was high quality, plated extremely well and quite delicious. Flavors were complimentary and reasonably portioned. Would return again.

Yelp
(Overall: B) - Conceptually, I enjoyed The Gallery as it appeared to serve less uptight food than their counterpart Odo while doubling as an art gallery to give some very unique vibes, which also come through in the plating and meal. The prices are on the pricier side than what one would expect from this narrative, but from the a la carte perspective ultimately it was not unreasonable as the food quality was high and highlighted novel aspects of Japanese cuisine that was quite pleasant. (Wagyu Shabu Shabu: D) - I found their in person menu to be misleading as this dish was an "entree" but lacked much substance beyond 4 slices of meat and a side of vegetables; it seems that their online menu lists this dish as an appetizer, which is much more appropriate, but nevertheless I felt this dish could be better paired with more sides that add substance to the dish. The beef is high quality and definitely permeates flavor into the fish broth. (MUSE Chirashi: A) - This is a high quality chirashi bowl with beautiful cuts of fish, fresh wasabi, and an interesting take on nori rice. I found the portion to be a bit petite, but still reasonably portioned and nicely plated. (Kushiage Set: B) - This is a conceptually interesting set that sounds like a full meal but is moreso perhaps half an omakase set. I enjoyed the expert finesse in crafting each piece as the kushiage is very crisp yet not greasy at all. The intricate flavor pairings within each piece as well as the accompanying sauces help build some intricate depth of flavor, which was quite enjoyable overall. My favorite was the truffle salt scallop, which was both tender and surprisingly forward in truffle flavor. -- Food: +1 Presentation: +1 Price: -1 Atmosphere: +1 Service: E Menu: +1 Overall: +3 B Insta/Beli/TikTok: @amei_eats

Yelp
Wow! That's the best way to describe this incredibly fun Japanese diner experience. The food was superb, with authentic and tasty dishes that delighted the taste buds. We tried a bit from each section of the menu, and were impressed with the high quality of ingredients, flavors, and presentation. The atmosphere is super cool, and a great spot for a date or meeting with a friend. Definitely will return!

Yelp
The restaurant's vibe was very aesthetic. It really looked like you were dining in a private gallery. Service was great too. In terms of the food, everything was pretty good. - Chirashi: the sashimi was very fresh and the slices of fish were thick - Kara-age: the sauce was on the sweeter side, but it was still really good and addicting - Udon: more aesthetically pleasing than tasty. But it was still pretty good!

Yelp
You walk in thinking it's a gallery, but you're pleasantly surprised with a menu of delicious good eats. From the first step inside, the aromatic incense and soothing music invites you to sit at your leisure and enjoy the walls of art. The service is exceptional at welcoming you, refilling water, and explaining the menu with tasty recommendations as well as giving you a tour of the place while you wait for your food to be served. I had to eat within an hour, so I ordered two items. The chicken nanban was so tender, juicy, and sweetly balanced with a yuzu tartar sauce that it hit the spot that I was craving since I skipped lunch. I felt like it was a picked salad on the side that complemented the fried chicken well. Since I was having dinner shortly and I couldn't decide among all the interesting choices, I let the chef decide with a sushi omakase. Otherwise, I'd try the kushiage set if I had more time and a bigger appetite. The omakase was a treat with fresh fish and ample portions. Plus, it was pleasing to look at before I savored each piece as it melted in my mouth. It passed my litmus test for uni, ikura, and toro with flying colors. I loved that they had freshly grated (hon) wasabi and ginger for a crunchy way to cleanse my palette. This is a cozy, cute restaurant that's worth a try. It's a nice change of pace from the hustle and bustle mindset and noise outside. If you're ever in the area and need a place to just unwind with cold or hot drinks, check out the gallery for meeting up with peers and pals or just chilling by yourself.

Yelp
Beautiful establishment with excellent food and presentation. The chopsticks were actual twigs, I wonder how they get cleaned. The chopstick rest was a leaf! We went for their four course restaurant week menu that runs for $60. Everyone gets the chawanmushi as a first course. For the second course I got the fried chicken with caviar. Third course I got the wagyu udon. Final course I got the melon ice cream. The chawanmushi was perfectly balanced and flavored, probably one of the better ones I've had in the past. Second course I got the fried chicken with caviar and this was perfectly done as well. The caviar is perfect with the fried chicken and the fried chicken was topped with a white sauce that felt almost like an egg salad. It was amazing! For the third course there were many good options ranging from chirashi to wagyu udon or wagyu burger. I opted for the wagyu udon. The udon came deconstructed in the sense that you will have to boil the vegetables, the meat, and the noodles. It was quite good but I didn't like having to assemble them. I also ordered a sparkling tea which the waitress had me sip on to try to see if I liked before committing to it and I did. The melon ice cream was probably one of the better ones I've ever had. The reservation also noted it was my birthday and they brought out 5 macaroons for me, so it was really sweet. Overall a 5/5 experience and I would highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Visited during restaurant week. For the starter chawanmushi, we added Uni on top of it and it's really worth it in my view! Eggs are always good buddy to appreciate the beauty of Uni Among the Kushiage, my personal favorite is the asparagus. The thickness of coating is right the amount, and it sparkles in your mouth after dipping in the accompanying sauce. Chirashi is align with expectation! One thing to note is that the portion is sooo large (we were not able to finish it in the very end) Wagyu Udon is also cute in the form of presentation. Wagyu provided is quite solid. As a udon lover, cannot complain more when shown this dish. Soft serve itself is already very tasty. It's very smooth and not super sweet (which is very important)

Yelp
I haven't had such an impressionable experience from a restaurant in a long time - The Gallery by Odo changed that! I booked this spot for my friend's birthday and it just happened to be restaurant week. I'm sure many know - a lot of restaurant week spots skimp out on the menu, but The Gallery offers a great array of options. We got: 1. Chilled chawanmushi, roasted corn, ikura, fresh yuzu 2. Assorted Kushiage - Hokkaido scallop, jidori chicken, kisu, and asparagus 3. Chicken Nanban - japanese style fried chicken with soy glaze, tartar sauce, and caviar 4. Chef's Chirashi - assorted sashimi over a bed of sushi rice 5. A5 Wagyu Udon - housemade udon noodles served table-side 6. Housemade milk soft serve (melon and strawberry sauce) I am not exaggerating when I say that every single dish was absolutely incredible... Every dish was so meticulous in taste and presentation. I recommend every single dish I listed here and I can't wait to go back to try so many more dishes. The service was impeccable. They provide hand wipes, my waiter (without me asking) brought me a small tasting glass of the beer I ordered to make sure I liked it, brought out a special dessert plate for my friend's birthday and all around super attentive to us. The space is also so unique. Surrounded by art and eating what seems to be like art. Such a cool experience.

Yelp
Decent food - TERRIBLE service. We were given the choice of two tables: one by the entrance and another one in the back, but the host said that we had to give it back by 8:30. We took the one in the back as that would have given us an hour and forty five minutes to eat. 7:50 rolled around - an hour and five minutes after we sat - and we were given the check unprompted just as we were going to order dessert. Then the host came over and told us they needed the table by 8:00, not 8:30, and proceeded to lie about what he told us when we arrived - first telling us he had told us 8:00, and then saying he had told us 8:15. He couldn't keep his story straight. The manager got involved and told us we had to give the table up. He didn't acknowledge it was their fault and didn't even offer in way to make it up to us. After an argument, he finally offered us another table - but by then, we were too frustrated and simply left. A truly unpleasant experience.

Yelp
LOVED this place! I highly recommend the chicken nanban-- its the best I've ever had. We also enjoyed the wagyu with handpulled noodles. You cook it right on the table which makes it fun. I'll definitely come up to try some of their other burgers!

Yelp
I'm embarrassed. I came here last year, when The Gallery was just a tiny slip of a restaurant with one long communal table in the center. Now it's all grown up, gotten married and had kids--the previously limited menu is now two-sided and features several new dishes, the artwork has multiplied and the furniture has increased to accommodate many more diners. How could I have forgotten to review this spot and missed a whole year of changes? I'm such a bad auntie. Anywho, the food is just as delectable as it was last time. - Mentaiko Fries: Because seafood and potatoes always belong together - Chicken Nanban: Super juicy with a fun...egg salad?...sort of topping Kushi-age a la carte: In total, I think we've gotten the scallop, king crab, tiger shrimp, Japanese whiting, miso-marinated camembert. If you're stumped on what to pick, just get some combination of these, esp. the camembert. Mmmm, fried cheese - Makimono Sushi Roll Set: The only disappointment for me. Too much wasabi in all of the rolls, and the fatty tuna roll was bizarrely paired with diced onions-- a bad combo. - MUSE Chirashi: Probably the best chirashi bowl in the city, and certainly the most beautiful. What makes this chirashi different is not only that the fish is cut into bite-sized cubes (instead of those annoying long pieces that are impossible to eat with rice), but also the rice is seasoned in layers with seaweed and sesame, so you get a flavorfully complex experience in each bite. All the fish favorites are provided and in generous amounts. At $32, this is the best chirashi deal in town. - Kinoko Udon: Don't leave without having one udon dish, given the noodz are made in-house and just the chewiest things ever. We opted for the Kinoko because, hello, mushrooms? - Housemade Soft Serve: Seems like a cop-out for dessert but is actually a winner with perfectly textured soft serve drizzled with sauce made from real fruits. All three flavors are spectacular. Throw in the Japanese hospitality, romantic lighting, industrial chic decor, and artwork, and you pretty much have the perfect dinner spot. As a bonus, The Gallery is still pretty under the radar, so come before some influencer "discovers" it and destroys it with a post narrated in their signature nasal, bored monotone.

Yelp
This restaurant is a work of art. CLEAN PLATE CLUB !! Ty and i came here for our 1 year anniversary! My favorite thing we had was the wagyu skewer + their uni !! The bluefin tuna chirashi was so so yummy the yuzu in it paired so well and their soft serve had this milk flavor that shit was so YUM also this goes without saying but the presentation was a 10/10 FOR SURE everything was so beautiful !! Also the portions were perfect good uni is so rare in the us and this place did not miss

Yelp
My friend and I reunited at this two-star Michelin restaurant initially for restaurant week. However, we observed the portions served for their menu, and we were not impressed. As a result, we ordered a la carte. My friend ordered the Hall Single Burger, and I went with the A5 Wagyu Udon paired with hot tea. We enjoyed our respective dishes. The service was great. Staff was accommodating, especially when we had to catch our respective transportation home. The ambiance for dining was small and zen-like. Unfortunately, the gallery was in transition, so we could not see anything. Hopefully, we will get the opportunity to return.

Yelp
Wednesday at 6:30 pm When we walked in, the place was only 20% full and was thinking to myself , why is that the case , the concept is great , Japanese food served in a contemporary setting - beautiful art work on the walls , clean and minimal decor in simple open space with high ceilings . The first time I came here there was a long table in the middle and was a shared table . We decided not to do the tasting menu mainly be cause we wanted to try the wagyu burger ( definitely worth it , it's nice and juicy , well seasoned ). We also had the kushiage set with a few extras ( based on each or our preference , mine was the chicken ) , sushimuse omakase for two ( bit too small for 2 people ), muse chirashi ( the highlight of the night with the bit size cut up pieces of fresh fish served a little different than what I'm used to which is with cashews , a nice addition with the crunch ). The soft serve for dessert was a good end to a good meal shared by close friends. The food was just enough . Special thanks to the server who recommended the sake and even gave us an opportunity to sample the others before we made a decision . I appreciate when I have the option instead of having someone push what I should order without trying . I look forward to eating at Odo next door next time.

Yelp
This dinner was a very fun experience from the menus on newspaper to the actual wood shaven chopsticks. I didn't spend too much time seeing all the different art pieces spread across the restaurant, but the overall atmosphere was very calm and relaxing. For a table of three, we shared 5 dishes and thought this was a good amount. We started off with the kaarage nanban and the MUSE chirashi bowl, then got the kushi-age set, wagyu shabu shabu and the kitsune udon (both of which needed to be cooked in the dashi broth). The kushiage had six pieces, but they brought out three pieces at a time since they recommended eating it right as it was fried, but we didn't know this which is why were were a bit confused as to why only three had shown up. Each one had a suggested dipping sauce. I personally liked the scallop and the waygu the best. The shabu was a fun experience, you could tell that the wagyu was high quality but the dipping broth really wasn't too special. The kitsune felt hearty but also nothing about it really stood out. I would recommend spacing out the dishes a bit more instead of getting them when they are ready because we were juggling between cooking the wagyu, trying to eat the skewers (the waiter had come over to us telling us that we should eat it before it gets cold).

Yelp
This place is truly a work of art!!! It send all of your senses on a tantalizing journey! You immediately get a reprieve from the busy city and feel like you're transported to a magical forest. Everything is sooo fresh and flavorful and created in a way that makes you appreciate food in a different way. The art installations are stunning !!!! Not to mention our server was super sweet and explained the dishes to us and gave the best suggestions Highly recommended this place !!

Yelp
I went here a while ago with others in a group and I truly fell in love with this place. It's definitely a date night spot and incredibly intimate. The tables and seats were carved from wood and the chopsticks were tree branches. It was interesting. Service: incredibly attentive. Due to the quantity of plates we ordered, we needed the plates to be cleared constantly and it was so on time with the dishes arriving. The staff were very focused on the pace of our eating and what we wanted. Food: so worth it. The only one I wished was better was the uni dish. There was a balance I thought was missing. The wings on the other hand, were one of the best wings in the entire city. The fries? Wish I took a side to go. The dessert was done so well too. I personally love the mango the best but all were an amazing combination. Would love to go back. The taste, ambience, and service was 10/10.

Yelp
Unique Dining Experience @the.gallery.nyc The Gallery is where you can enjoy fantastic food by Michelin starred chef Odo surrounded by art by famous artists. I am absolutely in love with this Japanese restaurant that offers innovative menu choices in a luxurious yet minimalist setting. Their Toro Tartare paired with Uni and Wagy Shabu Shabu were made to perfection. Their drink selections are amazing and align well with menu offerings. While you are here, make sure you enjoy the art. The current exhibition is by Shiro Tsujimura, a living legend in ceramic art. The Gallery is a true restaurant gem. It is the place to go if you are looking for luxury experience with amazing services without the pretentiousness. Food ordered: Tasting menu consisting of the following: - Toro Tartare - 3 pieces of seasonal kushi-age selection - Wagyu Shabu Shabu - 4 pieces nigiri sushi and roll A la carte items: - Chef's sushi - A5 Wagyu Steak - Dessert, house made milk soft serve with Japanese fruits

Yelp
Great service and interesting concept. The space is nice but the art isn't memorable at all. My friend and i tried the tasting menu for dinner. It's got variety but the taste is truly mediocre, no better than decent sushi takeout. We were both quite disappointed.

Yelp
The Gallery is a dope restaurant space that combines food with art. 1) The Service - The staff is very attentive and even brought out macarons for my girlfriend at the end of our meal because it was her birthday unprompted (They must read their Resy reservations very closely). 2) The Space - Amazing! There are cool art pieces hanging on the walls and the tables are pretty spread out so you don't feel like you have to yell in the restaurant. 3) The Food - We had the Tebasaki (wings), Wagyu Shabu Shabu, and Kushiage (Wagyu, Snow Crab, and Tiger Shrimp). I can't front all of these were a hit. The wings were so flavorful, the A5 was legit, and the panko fried skewers are a must try though they can feel heavy. All in all The Gallery is definitely worth a visit!

Raquel H.

Yelp
Food was good. I highly recommend trying out their sushi bowl! We also ordered A5 Wagyu shabu shabu. It came with 5 slices of meat. The meat was so soft and almost melts in your mouth. We also ordered the udon which I didn't really think it was worth it since you barely get any noodles. It is definitely an experience coming here. Everything is very artsy, including their table set up and the dishes. I had a good experience eating here, will be coming back soon!

Yelp
Nestled within the artistic enclave of The Gallery by Odo, our culinary journey offered glimpses of brilliance amidst moments of mediocrity. The ambiance, adorned with captivating artwork and set to the backdrop of mellifluous jazz melodies, cast a spell of sophistication that added to the allure of the dining experience. While the menu boasted an extensive array of choices, the execution fell short of expectations in certain dishes, with the beef kushiage and Nigiri set lacking the desired flavor nuances. Despite these shortcomings, the refreshing salad and savory Shabu Shabu showcased glimpses of culinary prowess. The Hall burger, though flavorful, suffered from soggy buns, transforming the meal into a deconstructed affair. Ultimately, while The Gallery by Odo may not have left us mind-blown, its unique ambiance and moments of culinary delight make it a noteworthy destination for those seeking an artful fusion of cuisine and atmosphere.

Yelp
We went for restaurant week and was disappointed. The food was mediocre and was left wanting more. Saving grace was the wagyu burger but again, its wagyu. Great service and vibes, though the server got 2/3 of my courses wrong.

Yelp
With its dim lighting and modern interior design, the ambiance and interior is not one I'll forget. There is one, long communal table for everyone to eat at and cloth baskets underneath every seat for customers to put their belongings in. There's also a few cool art pieces hanging from the walls. The menu design reminded me of Broadway playbills. My friend and I came here for dinner this past Friday evening and were excited to check out this new-ish Japanese restaurant. Since it was quite rainy and dreary, we both were in the mood for something soupy. KINOKO UDON - 22 Beautiful presentation that's hard to forget. The udon broth comes out in its own wooden box and there's a temporary flame that heats up the broth (sitting in a durable paper container on a sifter looking basket). The second wooden box has some udon on the left, scallions and mushroom medley in between and some greens. I was told to cook (in the broth) the mushrooms for a minute or two before adding in the greens before finally adding in the udon for 6-7 seconds (to get the perfectly chewy texture). Great concept, but unfortunately the food fell short for me. The udon broth just felt like average, udon broth to me. It was perfectly concentrated and seasoned, but there's no lingering kelp or fish flavor or really, any distinct flavor that left me wondering how they made it. The mushrooms were OK and were just... mushrooms. The scallions and greens definitely added nice touches to it, but the udon was disappointing. I'm not sure if these are udon noodles (not the same shape, nor did it have the same texture). The udon noodles did not have the chewy taste I was hoping for, and they stuck to each other and was overall not good. The portions were also small, but I guess we're paying for the presentation. Again, the ambiance was phenomenal and the food itself looked like art pieces. The taste, however, did not hit and left both my friend and me disappointed. She got the soba noodles and thought it was just OK. Maybe the sushi options are much better here? Oh well.

Yelp
Really great ambience and food. Service was very attentive and friendly- they offered to take our bags and coats for us. The space isn't very big and it's super calming, with a lot of history engrained. For drinks, we got the yuzu Omoi- both the sparkling and non sparkling versions were delicious. One of my favorite cocktails. For food, the skewers were a must try, especially the scallop one. I loved the chicken nanban and makimono sushi roll set as well

Yelp
Unique space serving both as a gallery and restaurant. I came during Restaurant Week with a couple of friends and we had a great experience. The layout is quite interesting with artwork displayed along the sides/walls and a couple of long, big tables in the middle. So, seating could be considered communal, but you get enough space between parties. We started with some cocktails and sake, all very good. I enjoyed the variety of the Restaurant Week menu. My favorite course was the Kushiage. Although we were pretty satisfied towards the end, we still wanted to try some more food, so we ordered the Mentaiko Fries and Wagyu Shabu Shabu, both delicious and great for sharing. The Soft-serve with Strawberry Sauce was a refreshing way to end our meal. Service was friendly and attentive at all times. I would recommend checking it out!

Yelp
Went here for restaurant week and it was a great experience. The box was really a unique work of art and cuisine. The black cod and brussel spots, as well as the wagyu which my sister got, were both very savory. The flavors were perfect. The fish all tasted fresh. The creations such as the tomato and the corn were delicious. I normally don't like tomatoes but whatever they did with this one made it taste so good and fresh. The corn is an interesting creation in that you can eat the whole thing. For dessert, the paprika flan definitely tasted like paprika.. maybe too much. But the matcha mousse dessert had a good balance of sweet and bitter. Not as soft as I expected but nevertheless it did not take away from the experience eating it. The food was good but on the pricier side. I wouldn't say spectacular but the presentation for everything was very unique and I'm glad I had the chance to see at least once.

Yelp
I went to the Gallery by Odo on a weekday for lunch, ordering the seasonal Hanami bento. I was impressed by the variety of food I got for the price. It was enough food to split with a friend, maybe adding an additional appetizer or dessert. The Chirashi sushi was one of my favorite parts of the bento, and you could tell that high quality fish and knife work went into preparing it. Similarly the meat (and the tamagoyaki) did not disappoint. The fried salmon and pork Katsu were juicy even though they were deep fried. An included slice of lemon definitely helped enhance the existing flavor. On the other hand I felt that the handmade wagyu udon and salad were not to my personal preferences. While the broth for the udon was good, I thought it could use a little acidity or spice. I also thought that the noodles could be chewier. Nevertheless, there were some good choices made in this dish such as using ground sesame seeds in the broth. The salad was visually appealing, but ultimately it lacked flavor. One standout aspect of this restaurant was the service. I felt as if I was cared for by the staff from the time I was seated at my table to the end. My water was always full and the staff quickly changed my set of utensils when they noticed me struggling to use the first set of utensils. I thought the overall ambiance of the place was very natural and relaxed. It would be a nice place for a date.

Yelp
Really cool concept! We were seated at the communal table towards the front and opted for the tasting menu. The sushi was really fresh and the fried items were unique. Definitely left feeling really full! Also the twig chopsticks and leaves as chopsticks rests were an interesting touch... overall really nice evening and warm service. I actually ended up buying some incense too which was really interesting to learn about!

Yelp
The place is minimalist and beautiful inside, and the service is wonderful. I immediately went to the gallery after flying in from Kansas City, and they were very accommodating and even assisted with my luggage. The food was well crafted and done perfectly. Wagyu shabu shabu is a must! My friends and I enjoyed our evening at the gallery, and we look forward to another visit!

Yelp
Art + food, two of my favorite things in one place. @the.gallery.nyc is definitely high up in my list of places to go to in the city now! I love the concept of having curated art in the same space of high quality food. The interior design is simple but very comfortable and classy. Also did I say the food was amazing?

Very cozy place. Love odo and the gallery didnt disappoint. The food there was okay like not too good but definitely not bad. But the coziness there definitely makes me wanna go back again.

Yelp
The ambiance definitely complimented the food and both were superb. The sushi tasted fresh and everything came out in a timely manner. Our waitress had amazing service and made sure we fully understood what to order. This restaurant had a very welcoming appeal!

Yelp
Great food at a reasonable price for wagyu shabu shabu, kushiage and sushi. Went to the bar next door for a drink post dinner. Great evening!

Yelp
I had left this review on Resy after our food poisoning incident over one month ago, but no one from the restaurant bothered to even contact me. It is very unfortunate that I have to leave a one star review. I had taken my daughter for restaurant week on Thursday, 8/17 and we both got a severe case of food poisoning. My daughter experienced it the worst and by 1am, I had to check her into the ER. Based on our food intake up to 24 hours prior, the doctor concluded it was highly likely our meal at The Gallery that caused our food poisoning.

Yelp
Delicious bento boxes. They rotate weekly. I had the New Years Bento. Great presentation. They do omakase dinners so I prefer their lunch bentos. This is a fancier version of Ootoya.

Yelp
The menu is a bit limited but featuring super high quality ingredients. It was interesting to eat in a small gallery, feeling exclusive and intimate. I personally liked the eggplant appetizer, wagyu hotspot, and nigiri sushi. Portions are on the small side so don't come hungry!

Yelp
A fantastic authentic Japanese place in a beautiful gallery space. Had lunch with family in early February 2023. Had udon, Sushi, edamame, soft serve deserts. All very high quality! This place is run by the One Michelin Star Odo Japanese place next door. The quality is VERY HIGH with very friendly staff. I just hope they open more regularly!

Yelp
If you are here to experience average Japanese service, I recommend you to look elsewhere. It took them 30min to bring out the bento boxes; no one came to refill our water or pour the wine; and once we finished, no one came to collect the plates (meanwhile they have employees standing/staring aimlessly into space). We came here for the restaurant week menu but the food was nothing exceptional - rice was fine, i didn't like half of the items in the box (too mayo heavy/fatty for me). My recommendation, go somewhere else @ half the price. PS. The art looks like a $200 painting from West Elm, so just go there with a bento box instead
