1754 House Restaurant is a must-visit. The food is outstanding—don’t miss the 1754 burger or the mac and cheese with pulled short ribs; both are absolutely delicious. The drink menu is equally impressive, with great options for both cocktail lovers and non-alcoholic drinkers. Service is first-rate. Our server, Tamika, was bright, knowledgeable and very attentive. Always smiling and provided close to the best service we’ve ever experienced. Finally, the ambiance ties it all together: festive, warm, and cozy upstairs, with a live band downstairs adding extra energy and making for a perfect nightcap. An all-around excellent dining experience.

We needed somewhere to stay on our way to Cape Cod, so booked a night at the 1754 House. The meal we had in the restaurant was stellar - some of the best burgers ever, plus excellent service. The room was also super cute, with a really comfy bed - and it was so fun getting to trundle upstairs after our delicious meal. There were just a couple of things that kept our experience from being perfect - one, the bathroom door wouldn't fully close. It is understandable that there would be some quirks in an old house like this, but that seems like something that could be fixed. Additionally, we were told upon checking in that there would be a free breakfast available from 7-11am. Since we were hitting the road early the next day that sounded amazing.... except when we went to eat at 7:15am the door to the dining area was locked and there wasn't a soul in sight! Disappointing to say the least, we ended up leaving and getting breakfast on the road.

Tonight was our first time at this restaurant. Since COVID we have felt that there has been a drastic decline in the reliability of getting good food with good service. Our experience tonight was top notch in all aspects. Our waiter Andrew was awesome. The apps, main course and dessert were excellent. I think we have found a new favorite restaurant .

Google
My mom and I had dinner together and it was perfect. The restaurant was cozy, the burger was amazing, and the whole atmosphere, Christmas decorations and fireplaces, was exactly what you want on a cold winter night.

Google
We went to the restaurant the weekend of Thanksgiving. They featured a dish called "Turkey Pot Pie", which consisted of a bowl filled with canned chunks of turkey and a biscuit thrown in it. The fries were skimpy. The pumpkin soup was not good. The salad was OK. Four people ordered very little alcohol and walked out spending $300 with tip.

The Flat Five downstairs is one of the best places to see live music. Bands, and artist are always outstanding on Friday nights, and the food in incredible. The staff are all very nice and genuinely seem like they really enjoy being there.

Google
Rustic Hotel/Resturaunt with abundant charm. Also is available for events and weddings with accommodations available. We have come to this place for nearly 40 years, known by its previous name "Curtiss House". Same atmosphere with updating menu sure to please. Wonderful..

We are lucky that 1754 is our neighborhood restaurant. We often take friends there. The menu is always interesting and the food is outstanding. Service is impeccable.

Yelp
Fantastic meal, in an old school CT Inn. They also have a killer GF menu-even the fryer is GF! I had a great classic NE clam chowder and a delicious burger (which is honestly one of my fave things to eat and I'm picky with my burgers!) This is a historical setting, so keep that in mind when you go. Cocktails and service were great - we also had a lovely table by the fireplace. We won't hesitate to go back!

Yelp
Upon entering I noticed the floors were extremely dirty and there were house flies everywhere The hostess decided to see it and 100-year-old man underneath a full blast air conditioner They got my orders wrong and the food was absolute crap I don't know who runs this place but they're running it into the ground Do not go there do not eat there

Yelp
What a pleasant way to begin one's Sunday. My husband & I enjoyed a lovely Sunday Brunch at one of our favorite dining spots- 1754 House' in Woodbury, CT. The Brunch menu provided several choices including beverage 'starters' ..Proseco Mimosas, and Bloody Marys, seasoned to your liking. We decided to go the Brunch route( although a full menu and beverages were available, if that was your preference. I chose the Bacon Brussel Hash/ topped with two 'over light eggs', and my husband chose Steak & eggs ( a petit filet, potato rosti( like a potato pancake) topped with an egg cooked to your preference. As a 'starter' we chose the Cider Beignets served with Maple Butter..they reminded me of Cafe du Monde, in New Orleans' Jackson Square! Lauren , the host on duty, was as pleasant as usual.. and our servers were Andrew( who has a delightful 'big' personality), who was mentioning a very capable trainee.. Tanya ( who told us she has had previous serving experience). If your looking to enjoy a Sunday Brunch , in a countrified environment, try 1754 House .. serving brunch from 11:30-2 on Sundays

Yelp
Very good dinner! We started with the cast-iron mac & cheese, it may look burnt however it's not! It was absolutely delicious, I loved the charred bits. We also enjoyed the smoked wings, very well seasoned, juicy. My boyfriend had the fish and chips which was well cooked, I loved the steak frites. For me this place is remarkable with the detail. From the onions on top of my steak, the crostini and cheese tasting and even a little after dinner cookie. I believe our server's name was Avery, she was such a delightful young lady, excellent excellent server. It was also wine night so we enjoyed a bottle at half price. Drinks were also very good.

Yelp
This is my second dining time at 1754 House, and the first time for brunch. We loved dinner so much that we came back to try their breakfast options. For starters, the pumpkin spice martini was excellent -- I usually prefer an espresso martini without any milk, but this was perfectly proportioned so it wasn't overly milky. My first choice was the dirty chai martini, but they were out of the chai vodka, which was disappointing, but the pumpkin spice option was a pleasant surprise. We got the maple butter beignets to share, and they were delightful; I almost ate the maple butter with a spoon (oh, wait, I DID). The pork sandwich was also tasty, with the duck fat fries being the highlight of the dish, though I wish I had gone for the pastrami smoked salmon. The best part of the meal was the Brussels sprouts cooked with chunks of bacon -- sometimes Brussels can be overly vinegary or overcooked, but these were flavorful and easy to chew without being too mushy. It's a gorgeous and cozy space as well, and our server was extremely attentive and friendly. The food also came out at a good pace. Will definitely return!

Yelp
My sister had her wedding there and it was amazing. The venue was warm and cozy and the service was incredible. Everyone LOVED the food but the star of the show was Kaylee! She is the functions manager and she was truly perfection. She was available for everything we needed, made sure every detail was correct, made sure the ceremony went flawless and was so sweet and kind through. We were able to get a picture with her and we are so grateful for all of her hard work!

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic burgers with fries. Great atmosphere and super nice staff to take care of you.

Yelp
What a fantastic place! We were looking for a place with a pretty drive and boy we found the perfect place. The food was delish and the waiter was awesome! From my vegan daughter to the meat lovers, everyone was happy!

Yelp
Not up to the standards of past visits. We were a party of 7 for an early dinner on Saturday, 12/13/25. As always, the wait staff and service was very good. Even excellent considering how slammed the restaurant already was at 5:30 pm. We were offered a White Cosmopolitan as a holiday drink special. Featuring fresh rosemary. Unfortunately, there was no rosemary in the cocktail because they had run out. Also two in our party ordered the short rib sandwich, which had less meat on it than you see at a fast food restaurant. Very disappointing. In my opinion, they grossly underestimated the volume of food and beverage for the evening. In the future, I would rather have the opportunity to select another drink/dinner option than be disappointed with the quality.

Yelp
I went to the 1754 House for restaurant week, and it was amazing! I still remember it as the Curtis House, but the upstairs dining has been disconnected from the jazzier bar below. The food was well cooked, maybe not wintery, but would be great for summer. The shrimp and corn risotto was beautiful and delicious, and the shrimp had a bit with hint of salt, perfectly seasoned. The white chocolate creme brulee had this thick sugar crust, yet the spoon broke right through. I hope the ghost is as pleased as the patrons.

Yelp
We were going to Tranquility Winery and I just googled restaurants that were near and 1754 House came up first. After reading the reviews we decided to go and I'm so glad we did. Top tier restaurant. Atmosphere, food, drinks and service were all great. Our server, Aidan was excellent. Can't wait to return with more of our family.

Yelp
Awesome restaurant in Woodbury that we ended up trying for restaurant week. We enjoyed appetizer, dinner and dessert. Place was quite busy so make sure to make reservations! I loved my sweet corn risotto with shrimp and my husband enjoyed his short rib macaroni and cheese. We will check out the tavern next time as there is entertainment downstairs on certain nights. Small bar area but it's so unique in there because of the age of the building it's very neat! Check it out if you're coming down Route 6 into Woodbury.

Yelp
Went in for a late lunch and had an absolutely fantastic meal. Started with the Shishito peppers and onion soup, both were better than good. I then had the braised short rib special and my son had the pork chop. We were both very happy and the serving size was just right. No dessert today but will definitely be going back, so that will be something to look forward to. Service was friendly and attentive and the price was appropriate for the quality of the meal.

Yelp
Excellent t food, good service and rustic but comfy ambiance. Good choice of cocktails and beer as well. I know this place has been through a few changes the last 10 Years including Gordon Ramsey "intervention" several years back, which we did not like at all. The present owner/proprietor/chef and service staff are on the right path now however. We'll be back soon.

Yelp
First time visiting today, enjoying brunch with a new friend. Avery's service was perfect! She was patient and attentive. The food was excellent, we'll be back!

Yelp
Came in for lunch and a drink on a beautiful fall day . Sat down at the bar because it was empty. My drink was perfect. I ordered the spicy shrimp scampi and it was delicious and spicy. I'm glad I got the cucumber drink on the menu because it cooled the spiciness in my dish . Well by the time I left the bar was almost full with people. So I guess I picked a popular place. I would recommend this place to anyone , based on my first experience. I will definitely return for dinner at some point.

Yelp
I took a break from the hustle and bustle and stopped into 1754 House. This charming and historic location opened in 1754. It features rustic charm with modern touches. My martini was absolutely magnificent. The bartender mixed my drink without fault and the ratios were perfect. The Rona glassware was distinctive and different. I loved its shape and size because it raised the quality of my cocktail. The food could not have been any better. I want to highlight the restaurant-made hummus. It was seasoned perfectly and I could eat it daily. My experience was high-quality with great attention to detail and the staff was incredibly mindful of the guest experience. My only regret is not coming sooner. Read more on IG: themartinibible

Yelp
Friends and family have come here for years but I never tried. A couple weeks ago I met my parents at the Flat Five and it was such a fun time. The food was amazing, the drinks were amazing and the band was great. You must try the fries cooked in duck oil, they're the best you'll ever have. Since coming, I've been back every 1-2 weeks

Yelp
Great service. I had a crispy fish sandwich that was pretty good. The restaurant wasn't quiet but it wasn't too loud either.

Yelp
A first date almost 2 years ago at the bar. Now it's our go to place. A wonderful place to cozy up to the bar or sit at a table in front of the fire. Outdoor space available. Menu is vast with something for everyone.

Bill O.

Yelp
Charming place with excellent food and service that was perfect. Happened to be in the area and was lucky to get an early dinner reservation. The steak was delicious but the mashed potatoes were the best I've ever had. Service was on point and the restaurant itself was cozy and comfortable. Definitely worth another visit. Great place - keep up the work. !!

Yelp
Excellent food. Nice ambiance. Good service. Reasonable prices for the experience. Will return.

Yelp
We were visiting Bethlehem Connecticut for a weekend getaway and decided to try out this spot, on a cold night in January few weeks back. Upon arrival the parking lot was filled with cars and was difficult to find a spot but we eventually did. Once we got into the restaurant FOH was definitely lacking, we weren't greeted or welcomed so we just waited by the entrance. Hence I'm taking off one star. They could do better in that regard. After about 10 minutes we were led into the back room which was really nice, and our server definitely made the experience better, he was warm, smiled alot, was knowledgeable and gave good recommendations. The food was really good with big portions. I had to get a takeout.

Yelp
Great experience at 1754. I was lacking today with my pictures because I wanted to get to eating. I came in for lunch with my two friends and one of those friends with her children. The staff were all very nice to the kids. Our waitress was great offering to bring the kids macaroni and cheese first. Baby Loretta gave a thumbs up to the mac and cheese she kept wanting more! I ordered a beautiful cappuccino as my drink. It was smooth and creamy. My burger was very good with homemade pickles. The fries were perfect nice and crispy. I ordered the apricot bourbon bbq smoked wings to bring home to my husband. He re-heated them in the toaster oven and they still tasted amazing. I got lucky and he gave me two. The smokey wing with the whipped bleu cheese - Yum! Hope to get back to 1754 soon!

Yelp
As we passed through the area, I saw this historical building & restaurant pull up. The building has a plaque that says it was built in 1736. Inside, the place was busy on a Sunday though there were plenty of seats available -- so I thought it a bit strange that we were asked if we'd be done in under 2 hours. To eat, we ordered the charcuterie board and the chef chose a blue cheese, 2 meats, peppers, and pickled onions in a mustard cream sauce. Great choices! My husband had the special: gnocchi pesto with pulled chicken mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes which was a bit too cheesy though my heirloom tomato risotto was excellent!

Timmy K.

Yelp
What can i say. The patio is great and service has always been top notch. Culinary expertise of Chef Michael and his staff has me yearning to come back here more and more

Yelp
I absolutely loved this place. Spontaneously stopped in for lupper with my husband. Sat at the bar. Place was still quiet. Our bartender was great! Loved the ambience! Old New England restaurant vibes all the way! Romantic & quiet but if packed, probably very lively. Had their burger on gf bun. Only 2 things on their entire menu cannot be made GF. The Pub burger (amazing flavor) and duck fat fries fries (perfectly crispy) were among the best I've ever had!!! I'm super picky about both! I highly recommend this place and plan to come back again!!!

Leslie H.

Yelp
Wonderful meal with wonderful friends! I have many dietary restrictions and Michael, the chef, went out of his way to make sure I had a delicious dinner! My husband said the filet mignon was the best he ever had. Aidan, our server, was right on top of things. To round out the night we even bumped into an old friend, Daniel who was a server! Beautiful old inn. We will definitely be back and will bring more friends!

Ilir T.

Yelp
This place has never failed me. I dont come here as often as i would like but, every birthday and mothers day were here and it is great. The epitome of a restaurant should be. Food is great, staff is attentive Cant say enough

Yelp
We booked our 3 night stay February 27 for an October trip.Paid $630 dollars upfront. We had to cancel one month before our stay.Spoke to some to cancel and was told it was.One week later I called again as I did not get an email confirmation or credit to my c/c and was informed that since we paid so far in advance that they would need to send me a check. That was fine so I confirmed my address and waited.I wait one full month accounting for processing and mail delays. No check.I have since called and left messages with all pertinent information and never received a call back.Highly disappointed in their customer service as now I will have to have my C/C company claw but the charge.

Yelp
One here while I was back home visiting family. Went out for a date night and it was a very nice experience. It's a quaint 18 century home with much of its original charm. The food was good and the service was excellent. If you're looking for a special night out, I would recommend it.
google avatar

Megan H.

Yelp
Consistently one of the best dining experiences in the Woodbury area and worth the drive if your not local! Today we stopped in for a late lunch and the service was terrific, thank you Melanie. The clam chowder is rich and smokey, served with their homemade bread. A go to classic is the fish and chips! Thick cut, tender pieces of cod, lightly battered and fried. Accompanied with a generous portion of duck fat fries! The tartar sauce is the star of the dish! Enjoy!

Yelp
We recently attended my son's football banquet (youth) and I was just blown away by the entire event. The room was a redisgned garage that was awesome looking and perfect for our group event. I plan events for my school and I will keep 1754 house in mind. The food and drinks were amazing as well. We enjoyed salmon, roasted chicken, chicken tenders, roasted potatoes and roasted root vegetables. My husband- who never enjoys veg- has been continuing to rave about these. Such a positive experience will bring the two of us back soon to dine in the restaurant area.
google avatar

Yelp
The 1754 House is such a cute, cozy spot perfect fall or winter dinner. The building is a beautiful historic building that houses an inn, restaurant, and tavern. We dined in the restaurant portion of the building in a cozy room with dimmed lighting and fireplace. We came for a Saturday night dinner and service was great! Food and drinks arrived so quickly. The menu includes nice variety of dishes for every taste. I had the French onion soup, pub burger, and finished with the mocha chocolate pot de crème and cappuccino. Everything was very well done. The burger came with duck fat fries which made them stand out as extra rich and crispy. I appreciated the little extra touches. They started us off with a bread basket with house made hummus. Complimentary bread is so rare nowadays so that was a lovely touch! We were celebrating a birthday so they lit a candle in our pot de crème. They even gave us a little bag of ginger snap cookies with the check. I would definitely return to this charming Woodbury restaurant.

Yelp
If you love SALT, this is the place for you! We came here because the reviews were quite positive, but our dining experience was terrible. My husband and I both ordered one of their "Substantial Plates" dinners, expecting the dinners to be substantial; they were not. The only thing substantial about them were their prices. I ordered the special of the day sea bass with fingerling potatoes and my husband ordered the Norwegian Salmon with fingerling potatoes and harvest vegetables. Both portions of fish were quite minimal, and the fingerling potatoes and harvest vegetables were precooked and then microwaved for serving. A restaurant that charges what the 1754 does should be serving freshly cooked, not microwaved vegetables. While the salmon was cooked properly, the sea bass was overcooked and very dry. And then there was the issue of the kitchen using a salt shaker with no top on it. I understand that restaurants use salt to make one thirsty and buy drinks (which is where they make a ton of money), but the use of salt here was over the top. The quality of food here is not worth the extremely high price tag and definitely not worth a second trip here.
google avatar

Kathy B.

Yelp
We had a bridal shower here. The food was so delicious - everyone raved about the tasty offerings. The ambience is unique and charming. We had an issue with service and the owner/chef was extremely helpful and generous in addressing the issue. A top-notch venue that impresses on every level.
google avatar

Will D.

Yelp
We had a solid time at 1754 House the first time we ate at the restaurant a few weeks ago. We started with the baked brie - it came with crostini and fig jam. Really delicious. We both ordered the steak frites -- what can I say, I'm a sucker for steak and fries. It was cooked really nicely at medium rare and tasted delicious. The fries were salty and flavorful too. The ambiance is old school, and feels like you're in an old timey dining chamber. Pretty cool. Where it stumbled was in the service. Our server was friendly, but rarely seen. Near the end of the meal, she disappeared for half an hour after we had finished eating. I'm one of those people who hates waiting forever for the check, and this kind of put a damper on an otherwise excellent evening. Altogether a great dinner and despite the service misstep, I'll be back sometime.

Miranda W.

Yelp
One of our fave spots in Woodbury! Whatever you order, don't forget to get a side of duck fat fries. You won't regret it! Check out some live music downstairs at the Flat Five!

Yelp
1754 House is a beautiful Inn, Restaurant and Tavern. It is a historical inn and resort that hosts many events, including weddings and dinners. I loved the rustic charm of the dining room and the fire place made the room feel cozy. All of the wait staff, from the bartender to our waiter to other waiters were so nice and friendly! We did order a few appetizers including, Fired Roasted Shishito Peppers, Roasted Brussel Sprouts and my favorite of the night Cauliflower Gratin! All the appetizers were incredible. So delicious and they were enough for 6 people to share. For dinner I ordered the Sweet Potato Cod and wow that cod was cooked to perfection! The cod had a delicious lemon flavor and it just melted in your mouth. The potatoes with the cod gave it some nice flavor and texture. I loved the greens on the cod as well for some extra crunch. The lemon butter sauce was perfect because it did not over take the taste of the cod, but elevated the flavors!

Randy B.

Yelp
Best food in the area. The Onion Soup is second to none. Pretzel bites are delicious. Amazing cocktails also. The service is incredible and the entire staff is friendly and attentive! My favorite restaurant in the area by far!

Yelp
What a wonderful experience we had. There is just something so special and authentic about this restaurant, you can just feel it immediately when you arrive. The staff is super attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and wine selection. The food is very fresh and seasoned just right, everything we had was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Honestly, this is my very favorite restaurant and I will always remember what a magical experience I had there, so thank you Chef! K

Yelp
Our friends invited us to try the 1754 House and we were blown away by our experience! Great service and the food was excellent. It's been a while since a meal excited me with how good it was. The space itself was cozy and historic. We loved it!

Yelp
As a chef for more the 40 years I frequently have meals and service at restaurants that I'm happy with and occasionally just so-so. Tonight's planked salmon at 1754 was one of those evenings I can't say enough about the presentation, flavor and overall enjoyment. To the chef at 1754 Thank You for a great meal. To our waitress Nicole, thank you for your great service. Atmosphere in the upstairs dining room is always comfortable. Thank You Thank You Don Sheen

Megan W.

Yelp
Best French onion soup ever! Ambiance was amazing, cozy spot during the rain and awesome in the summer
google avatar

Jeff R.

Yelp
Ambiance was nice, food was ok. Service was pretty spotty at best meaning no one cleaned off table after appetizers so table room was tight. Did not understand that part. Doubt I will be back...

Yelp
2nd visit to this lovely place on a few months. Clients are greeted well and benefit from plenty of waitresses eager to make your experience enjoyable. The brunch menu is worth the try and we felt the professionalism of the kitchen. I just wish the service would be a little faster, I was under the impression that most of the crew was in the dining area, and not enough resources in the kitchen. Kudos for the little gift that came with the check, a simple testimonial of the talent of the pastry chef. A solid place for sure.

Yelp
Great American food in a really old building. There isn't much to say that hasn't been said in other reviews already. The clam chowder is one of the best we've ever had, with a rich creamy, bacon flavor. The bread was served with delicious hummus and was just an amazing start to the meal. We split a burger and it was really perfectly cooked the way we'd asked for it, and just absolutely delicious with the pickles and aioli on it. The fries were super crispy but not overdone, and the only problem for us was they were overly salty due to the use of flake style salt. Next time we'll ask for the fries without salt I think.
