1828 Smart Hotel (Buenos Aires, Argentina) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"New York and London can argue over who started the trend, but is there any doubt that Buenos Aires is the current boutique-hotel capital of the world? The fashionable sub-neighborhood of Palermo Soho, home to many of the city’s better restaurants, bars, and cafés is also home to a handful of fine, stylish lodgings, and to their number you can add 1828 Smart Hotel. An imposing antique wooden door stands, rather incongruously, at the bottom of a futuristic façade of frosted glass, and what’s behind that door is something else entirely — a charming 14-room boutique hotel in a Deco-influenced contemporary style." - Tablet Hotels

My name is Lesley Francis and together with my family, Adrian, Mark, Evie, Henry and Sam, we stayed recently at your excellent and stylish boutique hotel for eight nights. Your hotel, reception staff and bar staff exceeded all our expectations. They couldn’t have done more for us, both to make us feel welcome and to help us find the area in Santa Catalina where my husband, Adrian’s, Scottish ancestors arrived to settle exactly 200 years ago. Of particular mention are the front desk staff, Bruno, Horatio and Hernan, and also the bar staff, Lucia and Naomi, all of whom were so kind and helpful.😁|The stylish decor is beautiful. We felt very much at home, relaxing both inside and in the pool area. My grandson particularly loved the pool. |We very much look forward to returning to stay with you again soon. Thank you, Lesley and the family.

From the moment I arrived at Boutique Hotel 1828 Smart Hotel, we was welcomed with genuine warmth and impeccable courtesy. The staff consistently went above and beyond to ensure every detail of our stay was flawless, creating an atmosphere that felt very personal. Thanks to Eugenia, whose cappuccino was nothing short of perfection—served with a smile that made each morning star\rt in the right way...

I stayed here for a week on my trip to Buenos Aires in July 2025. The service was impeccable, the bed was very comfortable, and everyone who worked at the hotel, even the rotating doormen, were so kind and thoughtful. I also used the sauna and it was wonderful and extremely relaxing. Also, they accommodated a late check out for me with no charge, which was so convenient since I had a business meeting. I could use my room instead of having to go to a café. This is a Michellin star hotel for a reason; I cannot recommend it highly enough. If I ever come back to Buenos Aires, I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Wonderful hotel on a quiet part of a trendy neighborhood. Close to bars restaurants shops and yoga studios. The hotel is small. 14 beautifully appointed rooms with updated bathrooms nice amenities and good beds and linens. The breakfast was buffet and also made to order. The ladies who served the breakfast were awesome. The front staff were fantastic. No request was too big. It was a perfect stay and a big shout out to Horton and Nicholas for looking after us so well.

A very small, smart boutique hotel in Palermo. Lots of nice little restaurants nearby. Very few rooms (I’d guess around 12). Ours was af a very good size, beautifully decorated and comfortable.|It feels far more friendly than the big corporate hotels, and is far more unique.||How to improve : information in the room, please. There’s a fridge, filled with cans, but no price list. There’s a filled water bottle, but no explanation as to where to re-fill it (it’s on floor -1 , in the Spa area).|Downstairs, there’s food laid out for at least part of the day (until 8pm) but no explanation, and cans of drinks - again, no explanation or price list. |We had little explanation upon our arrival and felt a little abandoned.|The website (which looks beautiful) also doesn’t explain what is charged or not, not does it mention the snacks available in the breakfast area.

After genuine reflection, and a fabulous night’s sleep, I’m adding a better and more representative review of this gorgeous little hotel. |Yes, there could be a little more information (ie prices of extras), but it’s a lovely unique hotel. |During the week days, there was the most delightful, kind and helpful lady cooking breakfast. She kept us topped up with water and coffee, and the eggs Benedict were delicious. |The hotel desk is manned 24 hours a day, and each member of staff spoke excellent English and were very informative about the local area, and very efficient at responding to any enquiry.|The pool, though tiny, is lovely, and the waterfall feature not only masked sounds of the city, but made the courtyard seem cooler and far more relaxing.|One thing which stands out is the level of decor. The hotel is beautifully decorated throughout and it’s a pleasure to look around. So much attention has gone into details and the owners (a private family, rather than a corporate entity) have invested a lot into adding their branded products all over. |It’s in a quiet street, but only a block or so away from bars and restaurants.|Would we stay here again? Yes, like a shot.

Everything about this hotel is wonderful, from the kindest of the staff, to the perfect location in Palermo SoHo, to the extremely comfortable beds and sleek, modern rooms. Breakfast is good and includes made-to-order eggs. My only suggestion would be to put robes and slippers in rooms so it’s easier to enjoy the pool!

Yelp
I chose 1828 Smart Hotel through the hotels.com website because of the amazing reviews on there. I chose the Luxury Suite for our stay ($259 USD/night). The front entrance is a really neat old world door that kind of reminds me of a Viking ship. You have to press the call button to be let in. We were greeted in English and the front desk guy was super cool and nice. He made us feel welcomed immediately, he was very genuine. As a hotels.com silver member, I get perks at certain hotels. 1828 Smart Hotel acknowledged my membership and I received complimentary sparkling wine. The lobby was absolutely beautiful with marbled floors, a white grand piano, black furniture, plants, and giant windows leading to the outside pool area. It was absolutely stunning. The elevator is a bit slow but it's cool to see each floor pass by. There are 4 floors with two rooms each. It's a very square building but neat. Our room was massive. The bed seemed larger than a king sized bed and oh so comfy. We had a large flat screen tv, mini bar, keurig machine, large closets, and a balcony with chairs and a table. The curtains are automatic and you will find the switch next to the bedside tables. The bathroom was amazing as well. Marbled flooring, rock wall surrounding the large mirror, large sink, stand in shower with a rain fall shower head, toilet, bidet, scale, and well stocked amenities that smell AMAZING. But to top it all off (and why I got the room)...there's a large bathtub on the balcony! They give you a satchel of bath salts to go with your bath. In the morning, breakfast is included and you can order through the QR code and have it delivered to your room or you can go downstairs to eat. One of my favorite things about this hotel is that there are USB plugs around the room and there are universal outlets that fit electronics for every visitor worldwide. This is definitely a great choice if you're staying in Buenos Aries!

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff was extremely accommodating and made us feel very welcome. We stayed here for a single night, and were greeted with complimentary champagne. We stayed a single night, before flying to Iguazu Falls for three nights, then back to this hotel for another two nights. They were extremely helpful and let us store one of our suitcases while we were away those three nights. The staff was just so friendly and helpful during our whole stay, we'd definitely stay here again in a heartbeat.
