My mom and I spent several nights here on a recent girls' trip to Charleston the week of fourth of July. We LOVED the experience and have since recommended the bed and breakfast to friends and family. We stayed in the two-room top floor of the carriage house (103), which was the perfect layout and space for the two of us. The complimentary breakfast was amazing and very much looked forward to, as was the day our schedule allowed us to attend the complimentary tea time. The young girl working during our stay (Haley, I believe?) was super friendly and helpful, and made the stay even more personal. We also loved some of the smaller details, such as the binder that had local menus printed (my mom definitely needs to see full menus before choosing dinner spots) and the comfortable porch and sitting room that were open to the guests to use anytime. We would definitely recommend staying here!

Mohamad and Lynn were excellent hosts! My husband and I stayed at the 1837 B&B for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. It is conveniently located to everywhere we needed to be and we were able to walk everywhere. Our room was extremely clean and ready upon arrival, even though we were early. Breakfast was delicious and so were the afternoon desserts that Lynn made (miss her cooking already). We definitely plan on returning to Charleston and would love to stay here again as we now consider it our home away from home. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We stayed here for five nights on a recent trip to Charleston. It’s a basic bed and breakfast. The breakfast is unfortunately pre made egg and bagel sandwiches, yogurts, granola bars, and some truly awful French toast sticks. The room and cool and spacious. Bed was comfy. Shower was small but had plenty of warm water every day. Little to no interaction with the B&B staff besides the cleaning staff. Overall, this is a nice place to stay for the price. In a great area, walking distance from the popular restaurants and shopping.

Rooms are easy to hear through, but charming. Great porches, and walking distance to the main downtown area. Breakfast bagel sandwiches really hit the spot, though I was surprised they were the only options and boxed up under a warmer. Really enjoyed the brownies and beverages available. Wish it was a bit more clear that you don't need to check in when you get here, just go up the outside stairs to your room and unlock the door with your email provided code. We weren't the only ones to wander the lounge and eating area looking for someone to check in with. I don't mind not interacting with anyone at a b&b, just would have been nice to know the flow.

We came here on our honeymoon and enjoyed our stay. The rooms are cozy and clean. It's located in walking distance to the historic district while still being quiet at night. We also thought the price point was incredibly fair compared to other B and B's in the area. I think my only complaints are about the changes to breakfast and the afternoon tea ending. At this point, they only have breakfast sandwiches and pastries in the morning. Though the sandwiches were good it was a bit heavy to have for breakfast 4 days in a row. It would be nice to have some sort of healthy alternative, even if it's just packs of oatmeal and some fruit. I also wish they had provided tea instead of only coffee. I know this place was recently sold so I'm sure they're just still settling into their routine. Ultimately, I would recommend the 1837 Bed and Breakfast as a great getaway location.

My boyfriend and I stayed here on our way to Miami, Florida from Pennsylvania. We had our car filled with all of our belongings as we were moving. It was fantastic to be able to park in their lot behind the premises and feel totally secure. We stayed in the carriage house and were very satisfied with the room’s cleanliness and comfort. We would’ve loved to stay in the main house but it was totally booked for the night we were passing through. We wished we could stay there longer as Charleston was amazing and the location of the bed and breakfast was a lovely 10-15min walk to all the nice restaurants and attractions. The owners and staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. They definitely went above and beyond, getting to know their guests, and providing excellent service. The breakfast in the morning was homemade and phenomenal. I didn’t have high expectations because usually hotel breakfasts are pretty basic and bland but this was a pleasant surprise! We were served homemade monkey bread, southwest frittata and fresh fruit with excellent coffee and a variety of juices. We loved our stay so much that we purchased their mugs as a keepsake. If you’re looking for a quaint, quiet and relaxing get away in Charleston I would highly recommend here! We want to go back!!

My wife and I recently stayed 3 nights at 1837 and we could not have been more pleased! The location was fantastic and anywhere you would want to get in the Historic District is no more than a 15 minute walk. We felt safe walking to and from the property at all times throughout the day and night. The breakfasts and afternoon snacks were delicious and I enjoyed socializing with the other guests during breakfast. Lynn and Mohamad are wonderful hosts and helped us with whatever we needed. The room itself was very adequate, comfortable, and perfect for the amount of time we spent there. The property is pretty quiet and there was next to no noise at all during the late night and early mornings.

We just returned from a midweek stay and had an absolutely amazing time. These accommodations really complemented our visit to Charleston, which is so rich in history and character. Lynn was so gracious and went out of her way every time we had a request, always with a smile and conversation. Breakfast , just incredible in every way. We had dietary requests and they were met perfectly . We were still served at 8:30 piping hot. We would have understood if we had to wait, but Lynn is so organized. Don’t miss afternoon tea and the delicious treats, it is worth running back from town. Rooms very clean, shower very hot and fresh towels daily. Quiet at night and comfortable mattress. You can’t help but relax on the outdoor porch with ample seating and rockers. Loved our stay in every way. Definitely recommend!!
