1861 Châtel Hostel

I stayed here with my son for a few nights. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The place has a welcoming feel, always people in the bar and dining room relaxing and playing games. Everywhere is nice and clean. Big kitchen if you want to make your own. I can recommend the burgers they were delicious. Rooms are basic but functional. Also the ski shop Mountain ride was great and easy to reach on the free ski bus. Used Chatel Transfers to and from the airport also 5*. Great trip thank you!

Located between Linga area and Pre le Joux, it is easily walkable from most of the apartments and chalets in the area. The friendly warm service at the bar and restaurant is excellent. Great beers on tap and a very cost feel to the bar area. The food in the restaurant very tasty, well presented and great value. We have not stayed at the hostel but sure by the standard of restaurant and bar, it is well maintained.

Really good hostel in a prime location, cheap and cheerful

Epic - The location is lovely, the staff is awesome, the Marie-Jo is rock solid 💪🍔 and the beers selection is top notch (all from breweries in the area). Plus, you might even get a Ukulele night!!! Had a blast, highly recommended, I'll certainly consider every time I pass by the region.

Thank you to the team at 1861 - we really enjoyed our stay with you. The hostel is a good location for skiing as it's just a short drive/bus ride from the Pre La Joux lifts. The building has been converted from an old hotel and is well set up for hostel living. The bedrooms and shared facilities are basic but really clean. The kitchen is well equipped. The hostel team are super helpful and friendly. We met some lovely people staying in the hostel, quite a lot of 'seasonaires' use it as a place to stay, so you get to meet some interesting characters from all over the world. If you're sociable and open minded about meeting new people you get a lot more out of staying somewhere like this. We much preferred staying here to being in a cramped cheaper Air BNB with limited space and facilities. Thanks 1861 Chatel Hostel for a great holiday. We stayed here for 5 nights during the UK half term. It was busy with other families but not as young as our kids (3&6). The kitchen is well stocked and the communal areas clean and social. We had a family dorm with a double bed and bunks, with a shower and sink. It was quite spacious and beds reasonably comfortable. It was noisy, but not after hours, and people were respectful of our little ones if they knew they were there. The staff were fabulously helpful. There's a nice stream nearby and an area the kids can play - snowmen and sledging. We'd recommend the hostel, but it might be better suited to families with children over 6.

Had an awesome time here in Chatel. Really friendly staff at the hostel and really clean kitchen and comfortable bed for a great price. Whether your here to ski, mountain biking or any other activity you will have an awesome time. The staff will go that extra mile to make sure of that and help as much as they can. Will definitely be back :)

Just stayed here for 3 nights for a boys ski trip. Excellent value for money but very basic and shared facilities. If you want to ski on a real budget then this is ideal. Ski bus stops just outside and couple of good restaurants are a 15 minute walk away. After 5.30 no shops or bars to visit really unless you go to other side of town which is a good 50 minute walk.
