1872 River House by Olivia

We just returned from a week at 1872 River House, in Room #8, facing the river. It was lovely. The location is superb—close to town, on the river, and across the river (a short walk) from Gaia and the port wine houses. The staff is friendly and accommodating. It's more of a bed and breakfast than a hotel since it only has eight rooms. My husband and I highly recommend it.

Wonderful small guesthouse with very attentive staff. Nothing was too much trouble. ||Very accommodating in terms of early arrival and very early departure. Organised taxis and food bags to go as missed breakfast and always replied to e mail enquires very promptly before we arrived. Breakfast was good, tea and coffee available all day in dining/ lounge area. ||We had three rooms, the 2 river frontage rooms are beautiful in terms of decor and stunning views but can be noisy at weekends. The noise is from the other side of the river, so not the immediate locality and is we believe limited to local festival periods. |The city view room was quiet. ||The guesthouse is located centrally, an easy walk along the riverfront and close to restaurants, historic highlights, and the old city tram stop. It is a building of character that is part of old traditional Porto. ||Would definately stay again.

Check in was simple. We requested that the hotel arrange transportation from the airport. That went off without a hitch. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable about the area, spoke English, and provided a beautiful breakfast spread. The bed was comfortable. The room had a spectacular view of the river. The common space in the hotel has an amazing view of the river. You can walk along the waterfront which is right outside the door of the hotel. The area felt very safe. I would highly recommend this property.

This has been an amazing stay. We are impressed with all the special touches and extremely attentive, kind service. The rooms are beautiful, and our river view was spectacular. This hotel group (by Olivia) chooses and updated properties very thoughtfully. We are fans!

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying here when we were in Porto earlier this month. Beautiful property. Our room was a river view and truly enjoyed watching the boats and people. The breakfast was fantastic. The staff were all great and helpful to us. Located right on the river and walking distance to everything you need.

Great accommodation, great views and perfect location. The instructions to find the place was a little confusing and the front door needs a kick at the bottom of the door to open it. It was confusing as we thought the electronic lock was not working.

We LOVED our stay at 1872 River House by Olivia. We stayed in a River View room with balconies and it was stunning. The view was like you were staying on a cruise ship with a view of the water and a beautiful view of Gaia. The bed was King size or bigger and very comfortable. The room and the bathroom were spacious. Heating and AC worked well for us, I saw previous reviews about it being hot but it was good for us. But we often slept with the window cracked and kept it extra cold. It can be a little noisy but they supplied ear plugs but we did not use them and slept through the night just fine. Breakfast was delicious and the cappuccinos were a great treat. We also highly enjoyed the free beer. :). We will recommend this hotel to anyone and will be returning in the future! :)

An oasis in the middle of the busiest part of town. We had a river view room which was unbelievable. Fantastic bfast buffet. Very clean. Parking right down the street. Stay here and you will fall in love with Porto.
