5 stars for the service and ambiance, but only 2 stars for the food. I stayed at this historic hotel for a few nights and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. However, the restaurant didn’t live up to the hotel’s standards. Despite branding itself as a French restaurant, with dress code requirements, the food fell disappointingly short of even a basic international standard. In my opinion, the beautifully crafted tableware was wasted on such uninspired dishes.

We were cheated in this restaurant - they tried to charge 3 000 dollars instead 3000 local pounds by our card. It was a scandal we mentioned this. Food is average for these prices. Interiors are great, but this thanks to historical french people, not to current management.

I would like to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service and treatment my companion and I received during our visit to your hotel. As a well-known French hotel chain, we expected the highest standards of hospitality, but unfortunately, our experience was far from what we anticipated. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by a receptionist who displayed extremely rude and unprofessional behavior. Before even acknowledging our “good evening,” he looked us up and down and immediately told my companion that he could not enter to 1886 because he wasn’t wearing a blazer. I understand and respect a dress code, but the way he spoke to us was disrespectful and condescending. When I inquired if there was a formal dress code, he told me, "You’re good, but he can’t get in like this!" His tone and attitude made us feel unwelcome and disrespected, which is completely unacceptable in a hotel of your reputation. We then decided to have dinner at *La Corniche*, since we had already paid an entrance participation fee. However, on our way there, we passed by *1886* and wanted to take a quick look. To our surprise, the same receptionist stopped us again and, with an arrogant tone, said, “Wait here, I need to check if there’s no one at the restaurant before you can enter.” He made us feel as if we were begging to be allowed inside, which was utterly humiliating and insulting. I do understand the need for dress codes and restaurant policies, but the manner in which we were treated was far below the standard expected of a luxury hotel. The staff’s behavior was not only unprofessional but also deeply disrespectful, which greatly impacted our perception of Sofitel’s brand and reputation. I believe that no guest should be made to feel this way, and I hope that this feedback will be taken seriously to ensure that no other guests experience similar treatment in the future. I would appreciate it if you could investigate this matter and take appropriate action to address the behavior of the staff involved. Thank you for taking the time to consider my concerns.

The 1886 is divided by internal doors into two parts: the formal dinner side (suit/tie- they have loaners), and the Ala Carte side. As you head down the hall, Ala Carte is the first 1886 door on the left, formal is the next left. Even in the less formal Ala Carte side, there is an elegance and attention to detail that you can only get in a 5-star hotel. Just had dessert here, but it tasted as good as it looked!
