The place is in a nice location. Quiet and safe. A good neighborhood feeling . It is near Citi Park and fairgrounds though a distance from French Quarter. Two street car lines pass nearby that will get you downtown. . There are nice restaurants nearby. The House is managed by Sally who makes a nice breakfast and will spoil you. An enjoyable stay

Our stay at 1896 OMalley was wonderful. The entire property was clean and well kept. Sally, herself, was just a delight to speak with and treated us like family. It felt as if we were coming home. Breakfast was a treat and Sally was eager to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The home is perfectly situated to be able to walk to the canal street trolley and take a short ride to the French quarter or riverside; but is in a quiet residential area. We enjoyed relaxing on the front porch swing and unwinding from the day in our jacuzzi tub. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. We will definitely be back. Thank you to Sally and the owner for such a delightful stay.

I had a wonderful stay at the O'Malley house. The B and B is located within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Also, it is a short walk to the Canal Street streetcar line, so it's easy to get to the French Quarter. My room was large, comfortable, and quiet. Sally greeted me upon my arrival; she was so welcoming, and she took care of everything. Breakfast was delicious! The O'Malley house just felt like home.

Our stay at the O’Malley House was beautiful! Sally the host made sure we were accommodated comfortably. It was 3 adults and our room was perfect for us, with a sofa sleeper that functioned well. The breakfast was delicious and the coffee was hot! Sally was the perfect hostess! If we needed anything she had us covered! Definitely will be returning!

Lovely house in a perfect location. Room was spacious and nicely appointed (we were in tge room for 4 guests). Breakfast was delightful, as we both enjoyed the food as well as the company (although it wasn't forced or weird.) We would definitely stay here again!

I stayed here with my friends from Utah. I live 2 hours from New Orleans and never been to a place like this before! I had a great experience, and I would definitely stay here again! The location / neighborhood is nice, and it was a safe walk to a nearby restaurant! I would definitely recommend if you're wanting a different vibe from hotel! They were so nice and accommodating, and easy check in and out process!

Excellent experience and the staff were amazing and accommodating! Breakfast was very good every day. The location in midcity is fabulous with the streetcar nearby allowing access to city park and the French quarter with short trips. I highly recommend staying here!

This is not the same 1896 O’Malley House we have experienced over 10 years. What was once an example of southern hospitality is no longer the case. From dead flowers on the table to clogged plumbing and deep grime and no access to the patio due to debris and dead landscape it was disappointing. Sally the owner attempted to make it right but it was quickly evident the management is challenging for her. Most of the photos on the website are from the old owner who was impeccably aware of anything guests would require. No hair dryer, no personal robes, two bath towels for a three night stay, clogged toilet, sheets in our friends room had to be changed as there were clumps of hair on the sheet when the covers were pulled back. A bottle of water that was half empty sat on a coaster in the sitting room table for four days. When we arrived there was a room adjacent to our suite where someone was getting their lashes done by an esthetician. She was very helpful and contacted Sally to come and open one of the rooms because the key was jamming. When Sally arrived she apologized in case there were small eyelashes in our bathroom because the esthetician was using the bathroom sink to clean up!

Yelp
Love this bed and breakfast! Larry and Brent welcome you and make you feel like family. The house is beautiful and very clean. The location is far enough away from downtown New Orleans so that it is quiet and so relaxing. The street car stop is a block away so getting everywhere is a breeze. And when you get back after a day of exploring, Jasper & Porter are there to greet you with a smile and a tail wag. We will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Great, great stay. Larry and the innkeeper were wonderful and very accommodating. I had a late check in due to flight problems and they still met me at 10pm to show me around. The breakfasts were delicious (seriously - bourbon bread pudding?! Yum!), coffee was strong and good, and the room was adequate. As a single traveler, I got the most budget-conscious room (McNair), which perfectly met my needs. One comfy bed, couch/daybed, desk, closet, bathroom. There were also a high-end brand shampoos/body gels to use. My one complaint was that there was not a tub drain stopper. However I'm sure they would have given me one had I asked. Regarding the location, yeah it's not in the French quarter, or downtown NOLA. However, the streetcar stops literally 1/2 a block from the B&B and costs only $1.25 to ride. Very easy and cheap, and comes every 15 minutes or so. To get from O'Malley to Bourbon St took about 20 minutes on the streetcar. Honestly, I appreciated staying a bit away from the bustle of an urban center. It felt very safe! Definitely a B&B - the owners sit and chat while you eat your breakfast. They were pleasant and conversational, and informative to a first time NOLA traveler. Overall, would stay again!!!

Yelp
This place was AMAZING!! We met the owner a few times and he was very friendly. We interacted mostly with Brent and he was WONDERFUL. It really wasn't expensive, especially considering how long we stayed. Very reasonably priced if you factor everything in!! I mentioned a dairy and tomato allergy and they were accommodating (even though I was clear they were mild), any questions were answered, we were directed towards more towels when we needed them, Brent gave us directions when we needed them, told us the best places to eat, grab a drink, site see, etc. When we visit again, we intend to stay here if Brent is still there by that time. The B&B was kind of the best part of our honeymoon! I know some reviews said it's overpriced, but look at it this way: Someone is cleaning your room every day, taking down your dishes, cleaning up after you, taking care of you, cooking you a homemade breakfast every morning (juice, fresh fruit, coffee, etc.). You seriously don't have to lift a finger the whole time you're there. I'm pretty sure we chose the smallest room they had available and it was still very spacious, clean, and nice! We spent just under 1400 and were there from the 10th to the 17th!

Yelp
I recently stayed here for a week with a few coworkers while working at a conference in town, and so glad we did. The house is beautiful and comfortable. Each suite is tastefully decorated with big comfortable beds, ceiling fans, desks, power strips and all the amenities you need. (If you run low or forgot some person items, a large drugstore is within walking distance.) There's complimentary wifi for guests throughout the house (may be weaker in some rooms). The shower pressure is good. The entire house is kept at a good temperature (i.e., cooler than outdoors but not icy like the convention center). The owner and innkeeper were very friendly, caring and attentive without being intrusive. The daily coffee, fresh fruit and hot breakfast gave our team a great start to each busy workday. In the evenings, there were beers, wine and a lovely porch where we could unwind. Just a note: There are two dogs in the house. They're very well behaved, but the owners/innkeeper will keep them out of the common area if you're not a dog person. The location of the house is very convenient for getting to the convention center, parks, shopping, dining and other popular tourist destinations, but just far enough from the party scene, which is perfect IMO. I would stay here again when I return for business or pleasure.

Yelp
This is my favorite place in New Orleans - comfortable, quaint and affordable. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. If you stay here, book the room with the haunted bed in advance (I forget the name of the suite). They dont make a big deal about it, but every night about 3AM the larger bed will violently shake. The location is close enough to hop on a trolley to the FQ.

Yelp
This is the second time we've stayed here and LOVE IT! I can't imagine coming to New Orleans and not staying here. Everyone there is very friendly and helpful, including the ambassadogs Jackson and Porter. The owner, Larry, and the manager, Brent, are both very informative and great with suggestions for places to visit while in town. The breakfasts are just the right size to start out your day. The rooms are well tended and comfortable. We usually stay on the third floor which has the most modest guest rooms, both have their own private bath. The baths are nice, plenty of hot water and they provide the Esa brand toiletries. And the location can't be beat, if you don't want all the chaos of French Quarter. It is a half block from the street car stop on Canal and a bus stop on Carrollton. Adjacent are a day spa and restaurants in case you don't feel like traveling one of your days. And the Walgreens in case you forgot something or need your "Jazzy Pass" for RTA transit (great deal!) is right there on the corner of Canal and Carrollton. This is the kind of place that really makes me not want to go home at the end of our vacation...

Yelp
Do not stay here in the colder months unless you really really really like being cold. No space heaters available. Paying way to much to be so uncomfortable. Super disappointed. Service was terrible. Owner was rude and unaccommodating, his parter is a bit more friendly but just expected more for the price. The building is pretty, but you can't open the windows or come and go without being jumped on by large dogs.

Yelp
This is my second visit to the 1896 O'Malley House and I can not recommend it enough. Larry and Brent have been more than gracious. The food is delicious and their location is perfect. Just steps away from MANY wonderful restaurants and the trolley system to take you into the other wonderful parts of the city. I stayed the first time for 4 nights and this time for 6 and was never more relaxed. Thank you Larry for your hospitality and to both Larry and Brent for their many suggestions for food and entertainment. I will definitely be back and am looking forward to more R&R.

Yelp
Need I say it? Fabulous. The O'Malley is beautiful! The restorations are traditional but in a very comfortable way. It feels like home- only elegant. The rooms are clean and welcoming, the beds comfortable, and the jacuzzi tubs perfect after a long day walking the city. The porches are perfect for a lazy cocktail before you catch the too-accessible street car. ...Oh yes, location. Stellar. In MidCity, at the Canal junction to either street car to the cemetaries, City Park or FQ. Theres a Walgreens, grocery and numerous small local eateries within blocks. Even better, is that even though your in the heart of the city, and so close to everything, you don't hear a bit of it. It's a quiet spot without so much as a buzz from the street cars. How can it get better? The hosts. Their friendly and knowledgable. They know more about the city and history as well as it's happenings go and finest restaurants. Not to mention, they make a killer breakfast! They're down to earth, and have the sweetest dogs ever. Rest assured- the dogs are well behaved and NEVER go upstairs. I wouldn't even be concerned with allergens- the place is so clean you barely even know they have pets! Last but not least!? The prices! Pricing is very fair, between $130-$200 a night (of course depending on the room, duration and demand). Excellent considering the hospitality, natural benefits and free breakfast!

Yelp
This is the place to stay when visiting New Orleans. The house is beautiful and comfortable. The Canal Street Street car is a block away and takes you right to the French Quarter. City Park is walking distance, and there are several great restaurants within two blocks. We had delicious homemade breakfast every day. Larry is a very gracious host. And let's not forget Cody and Porter, the house's lovable Golden Retrievers.

Yelp
Went there for my fiance's 41st birthday with 2 friends. They stayed at the O' Malley Suite and we stayed at the Colonel Parker Suite. We were greeted by Brent who walked us through the house and the rules as well as all the accommodations we were welcome to enjoy. Also gave us a brief background on the house and introduced us to the cutest residents of the house Parker and Jackson, the friendly furry friends. We loved staying there and using the street car to get to the French Quarter. I loved walking around the old house and enjoying the art, architecture and impeccable decor. We felt so at home as if we were guests at a friend's beautiful home. We got along wonderfully with the other guests and both Larry and Brent had alll the recommendations we needed to have a great time our first time in New Orleans. The breakfast was divine as well, and it was the only place I found that included a full breakfast. Everything was clean and comfortable. I have absolutely no complaints. Thank you guys giving us a memorable first bed and breakfast experience and New Orleans experience. And to end the trip on such an amazing note, Brent made my fiancé BIRTHDAY CUPCAKES on our final morning! You can't get that kind of awesomeness everywhere. We cannot wait to go back!

Yelp
If you want to stay IN New Orleans and are NOT in a hurry to be anywhere and you're accustomed to having the property owner completely ignore you as a guest- this is for you! On the Canal Streetcar line, it's about a 30 min ride into the Quarter or to the Museums, but the property manager is the saving grace as he can suggest tours to pick you up at the house ($100 for 2). Also, don't think about venturing out after dark by yourself on foot to get dinner. Not the safest neighborhood. Uber eats.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Agree with all of the positive reviews. The staff is very helpful - lots of great advice on how to get around the city. Our only issue was with the breakfasts. Not surprisingly we did not want to get up early while in New Orleans. The second day we came down around 9:30 (breakfast is served until 10) and were served meals that were "stale." Clearly the eggs benedict had been made for those who ate at 8am and then kept warm for later arrivals. The muffin was rock hard. Whereas our first morning we were down at 8:30 and the breakfast was outstanding. After that we came down earlier.

Yelp
The house is beautiful inside and out! There is a Walgreen's right across the street (gotta love convenience), a trolley stop between the Walgreen's and the house (even more convenient), and the Innkeepers are extremely friendly and hospitable. It is clean and elegant, but still welcoming and homey. The food is delicious, the towels are soft, the beds are comfortable, and the rooms are spacious. I will always stay here when I visit New Orleans!

Yelp
We had a great visit in New Orleans staying at The O'Malley House. Larry and Brent are wonderful hosts. The location is in Mid Town which is a quiet neighborhood 2 miles north of the French Quarter. It is a quick trolley/bus/cab/uber to most anywhere. There are a number of good restaurants within a few block radius as well. They make a delicious breakfast every morning and make you feel at home. When heading out on the town they are very helpful with local knowledge. We stay here everytime we are in The Big Easy.

Yelp
Literally not a negative word to be said about this B&B. Very accommodating for our wedding needs, and were completely pleasant the entire time. Breakfast was amazing, the staff was courteous, and we had an amazing wedding day thanks to this!

Yelp
Genteel Southern hospitality. Larry welcomes guests into his lovingly cared for home. The reviews are well deserved.

Yelp
Well First of all the house is gorgeous. The rooms were amazing, and had an iPad that had app that gave you info on all of the places in New Orleans. It was nice to plan our trip from our bedroom. But if an iPad isnt your cup of tea then talk to the host. He knew everything to do. If you wanted to have a nice relaxing weekend or wanted to party Bourbon street style he knew all of the spots to hit. The breakfast was also AMAZING. His blueberry bread pudding was worth getting up at 9 am for. The house is less than a block away from the street car that takes you straight into the french quarters. So you get to experience NOLA without having to hear drunk 21 yr olds every five minutes. I highly recommend everything about this place.

Yelp
Stayed here during Jazz Fest and it was great. Easy parking, great ambiance, clean, hosts Larry and Brent were super friendly and had some great NO stories. Breakfast was wonderful and the location can't be beat. We could take the street car wherever we went and was pretty easy to get to the festival. My son just loved their dogs, Jackson and Porter too.

Dominique H.

Yelp
I wasn't happy when I arrived at the O'Malley House, the neighborhood threw me off and I didn't read the section regarding the dogs. I am not a dog person and was very uncomfortable. The owners would not refund my money not mad at all I completely understand that he would be losing out on money. Larry and Brent promise to keep the dogs away as much as possible. They did as promise and actually the dogs were adorable. The house is a great historical place with so much history. All eight bedrooms had their own bathrooms and was very spacious. Lets just say I am so glad I end up staying there. Brent you are the best! He has the greatest personality and a great cook. Brent personally cook breakfast every morning. He was very helpful with helping us finding places and event to attend. The bed and breakfast was very close to the French Quarters and the District. Now let's talk about the beds there. We has one of the king bed rooms and the bed was so comfortable, I was able to have great sleep every night I was there. Thanks for making our New Years vacation one of the best!

Glenn W.

Yelp
STUNNING! My girlfriend and I stayed here before we could move into our new apartment and it was such a great experience. We wished we could just live there. Definitely stay here if you're coming to the city to visit. It's in the heart of midtown which is perfect if you really want to experience the city. You'll feel safe here too, they have CCTV monitoring the street and Jason and Larry are always around if you need anything. Seriously give it a try (if you can even get a booking!) and you won't regret it.

Ben G.

Yelp
Great. Except for the location. It is a long walk to the French quarter. And the cable car is convenient but slow. The BnB itself is well appointed and maintained. If only it were closer to town it would be 5 stars - but location is (almost) everything.

Cynthia H.

Yelp
An absolute perfect place to stay in NOLA. a block or so from the trolley; a few minutes to Bourbon st and anywhere downtown you want to go. Restaurants within a block or two of this B&B, away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of New Orleans. The breakfasts were all very very good; kitchen is stocked with local beer and wine, plus snacks for whenever you want something. Our room had the balcony and was beautiful; we were traveling with another couple and their room was just as pretty. Super comfortable beds. The hosts were always around if you needed to know where to go and what to do. Love this place. We will be back next spring. Thanks for a really relaxing, fun getaway.
