Took an hour drive to meet some friends at 1914 House Restaurant in Niwot, Colorado. It turned out to be a great choice for a pleasant casual dinner. The front desk staff was very friendly, and our table was ready as reserved and requested. Table service was a bit slow-paced, but this allowed us to have nice long conversations with our friends and was never rushed through the entire dining experience.
The menu has a variety of choices, but limited in the variations of the entrees, however this was fine in this day of eating out, which allowed the restaurant to prepare each dish very well. Starting with two appetizers and salad to share, followed by entrees of the House-made Fettucine and Wasabi Ribeye. The Panzanella salad was fresh and nicely dressed, but the appetizers of Spinach & Artichoke Dip and the Flash Fried Brussel Sprouts (mildly spicy) were excellent, highly recommended. Both entrees were delicious, with the ribeye having a nice wasabi spice to the grilled steak, and the pasta a rich buttery texture and flavor. Sadly, too much food and had to pass on dessert.
Overall, the food was excellent, and a nice place for a casual paced dinner in a restaurant that allowed normal conversations tones. Although the drive was a bit north of Denver, it was a restaurant that we would return to for another visit.
Tips for your visit: This restaurant is in the small town of Niwot, make reservations. Also has a large outdoor patio if you desire to sit outside.
