1st gate home-fusion

This is a very easy review to write: 1st gate is 1st class! The hotel is graded as a 3star, but it most definitely has the charm, service, location and customer care of any 5 star hotel in which we have stayed in our travels to India. Jaisalmer is a special city, small and 'human-sized', built of glorious golden sandstone; rising handsomely out of the desert. 1st gate is the perfect place to explore its magical backstreets, full of intricately carved houses and airy havelis. The hotel is built in a just such a traditional style and sits in a prime location, right opposite the majestic fort, which provides an unforgettable backdrop for the excellent dining at the rooftop restaurant. The interior is carefully designed to reflect the traditional colours and fabrics of the area and is a pleasure to return to after a busy day of exploration - in the city or in the desert beyond it. The staff are the crowning glory here. Manish has created a lovely hotel and Peter is a first class manager. Nothing is too much trouble. His recommendation for a half day tour to the desert was spot-on, including the thoughtful gift of a lunch to ensure we were well prepared. Water bottles are handed out every time you leave the building; a picnic lunch for our onward flight was another charming element of customer care. Located just outside JAISALMER fort. Most of the cultural history and architecture is at walking distance . Food in house is delicious and the breakfast is a scrumptious spread of Indian and continental. The hotel is generous with its mini bar .it is stocked with soft drinks , water . There are nik nacks biscuits and fruit all complimentary and replenished when room cleaned. Yes you heard right . The hospitality ,generosity and service is reflective of the ṛoyal culture of Rajasthan .There is a restaurant on the roof top which is open for the public too. Very popular, good value vegetarian options of Indian and Italian cusine. On our 2nd day lunch we were treated to a complimentary chocolate mousse. I almost forgot ! There is free cake of the day , through out the day . Thank you Vikas ,Pankaj and their entire team for treating is like royalty. On check out we got gifts from Santa. Pankaj insisted on packing some food for us on our way to airport.He mentioned that there was no facility to buy food and we will reach our destination at around 3pm. We accepted and are thankful that Pankaj offered as our flight is delayed for over an hour.This is truly the First Gate to an Extraordinary hospitality experience in JAISALMER.

This hotel is perfectly located - just outside the fort, yet shielded from the chaos / noise somehow. It has a lovely aesthetic - grand and yet homely, traditional and yet modern. Their rooms had unexpected extra spaces - a whole extra sitting room, a terrace etc which were great when traveling with kids! The only reason I rate their rooms a 4 (and not 5) stars is that the linen (table clothes/ mats/ bolster covers, curtains etc, esp in public areas) were worn out. All traditional pieces, but now in the need for replacement. A little fine tuning and maintainance would go a long way in making this hotel a no brainer! The public spaces in the hotel were very quaint, and nearly private, given the small number of rooms. We've had copious number of chai / cappuccinos that they served smilinglt, round the clock. Service and food were all great -their local food, as well as their rooftop pizzas. It's rated as a 3-star hotel but easily is worth more!!

This hotel was such a find. The hotel itself is really well located, close to the fort entrance. We had a lovely room with a small balcony overlooking the inner courtyard. There was absolutely nothing to fault about this property. The staff were incredibly friendly and kind, even providing us with a snack bag for our onward journey. The breakfast was the best that we had during our stay in India, with freshly squeezed juice and the most scrumptious Poha cooked to order. The hotel also had a rooftop terrace with lots of comfy seating and stunning views across to the fort—great place for a beer and a bite to eat after seeing the sights.

This is such a beautiful property. Lovely spacious rooms and washrooms. Great eye pleasing decor. Vintage vibes. The best part about this property are PEOPLE. They actually know what hospitality means. Such warmth and courtesy. Food is amazing. Everything is freshly prepared and served. Chai is complimentary which is great for all the chai lovers. Would highly recommend staying here. Location is ideal for Jaisalmer sightseeing - all tourist spots are walking distance from here. FULL MARKS TO THE OWNER WHO’S MANAGING SUCH A GREAT TEAM SO EFFICIENTLY AND WONDERFULLY.

We received faultless generous hospitality from the moment we arrived to when we (sadly) departed. Extremely stylish and comfortable accommodation. Scrumptious and plentiful breakfast. Delicious treats available throughout the day. Tuktuk and escort to our seat on departing train. Even a care package for the journey. And even with all those things the standout feature of our stay were the staff. Peter and Vikas are exceptional with their front of house care - but truly every single staff member (who I sadly can’t list their names) are delightful and have a can do attitude. Manish, the owner, is very present and clearly takes great pride in providing such a haven to stay in. Just book it - you’ll be as thrilled as we were :)

I spent three nights at 1st Gate Home Fusion in Jaisalmer and can honestly say it was one of the most caring hotel experiences I’ve had anywhere.||The hotel is perfectly positioned right at the base of Jaisalmer Fort. My private balcony looked directly up at the fort, and in the evenings I was treated to not one but two wonderfully colourful wedding processions passing below — an unexpected and memorable bonus.||My room was spotless and very comfortable, with a good bed and plenty of hot water. I appreciated the thoughtful inclusions: a complimentary fruit basket, biscuits, cold drinks, drinking water and crisps in the room, along with gowns, slippers and excellent bathroom amenities.||Throughout the day the hotel offers complimentary drinking water, tea, coffee and cake, which made it feel more like being in a gracious home than a hotel. After dinner each evening, a complimentary dessert was also offered, and breakfast included freshly squeezed orange and watermelon juice. I also enjoyed a lovely Ayurvedic massage in the spa room.||All of this was wonderful — but it truly pales into insignificance compared to how I was personally looked after.||The housekeeping staff noticed that I was drinking a lot of water and quietly ensured extra bottles were placed in my room each day without me having to ask. ||Most significant of all was the kindness shown by the hotel manager, Peter, and his team. I was unwell during my stay, suffering from a heavy cold and fever and feeling quite exhausted. Peter noticed immediately and, entirely unprompted, arranged repeated deliveries of ginger, lemon and honey tea to my room.||When Peter learned that I had a five-hour drive ahead of me after checking out, he insisted on providing a complimentary lunch pack for the journey — another thoughtful gesture that perfectly summed up the care I experienced.||It was done with genuine warmth and attentiveness, and it gave me real peace of mind. I felt that if my condition had worsened, I would have been exceptionally well looked after, which as a solo traveller was a great comfort. That level of kindness and human concern is rare, and it made my stay truly memorable.||I would return without hesitation and recommend 1st Gate Home Fusion wholeheartedly — not just for its location and comforts, but for the people who make it such a special place.
