We had some of the best food of our trip. The fire roasted salsa is delicious and flavorful, not just hot. The chips are blue and yellow corn with a nice crunch. The guacamole is finely chopped in a pico style. We both loved it. The soup was a tomato garlic gazpacho blended to a creamy texture. It had drops of chili oil on top so was beautiful as well as delicious. The burger was top notch. The art in the dining area was a perfect complement to the log ceiling. It was too chilly to eat on the patio but others did. It seemed like a nice place too. The series of rooms feature fun shopping. Art, lavender, jewelry, books, clothes, purses, and several souvenirs. Our server was beautiful, friendly, fun, had the best laugh, and went overboard to ensure we had all we wanted.

Ok if you have low expectations. The chicken tacos were hearty but bland and fell apart. They charge $6 for a basket of store bought chips and weak watery salsa. The side salad had a tomato that was WAY past its prime- shriveled and scary. I told them and they said "sorry." Sitting on the patio is nice.

I am not prone to reviews, but I can't help it in this instance. We popped in for lunch on a Friday at noon. It took 15 minutes before we were approached by our server and brought glasses of water. We ordered a beer and a wine, which took another 12 minutes to arrive. Then we ordered food, at the 27 minute point. It took another 20 minutes for the food. So our lunch arrived after sitting in the booth for 47 minutes. The burger and sandwich were actually pretty good once they arrived, but the service was unacceptable. I won't be going back any time soon. There are better places in Abiquiu.

I've lived in Northern New Mexico for many years and eaten at the Cafe numerous times over the years. A friend and I decided to try it for breakfast after hearing a new chef and manager had taken over. We both ordered huevos ranchros. The chili was tasteless and bland, not something you would expect in this area. We both rolled our eyes when we saw what looked like tater tots touted as "breakfast potatoes." All in all a very unmemorable meal. Neither my friend, who is also a long time Norteno and has eaten frequently at the Inn in the past, and I plan to go back any time soon. Perhaps when they change cooks? There are other places we'll try.

I am staying in the area for a few nights. I stopped by Cafe Abiquiú yesterday afternoon for lunch. The lamb burger was excellent. The outdoor seating area is lovely. It deserves five stars. However, I stopped by again today, but, after waiting to be seated for a SOLID five minutes, I left. The male server was visibly flustered and I overheard him reorder French fries for two patrons because the ones that they received were cold. Today was NOT the day to dine at Cafe Abiquiú. The management needs to slightly increase their prices in order to pay their employees more. THAT'S how you recruit and retain staff.

We drove out to Abiquiu with low expectations for food. This place was quite the surprise. Wonderful wait staff that were super friendly. I ordered the trout and it was cooked to perfection- it was so good - i did not pay attention to what my friends ordered so I cant name the photos that i took - hence, they are each called "entree" in my photos. Everyone enjoyed their meal and left satisfied. One of our better meals on this trip to New Mexico. There was also a cute gift shop and some nice art for sale on the premises too.

Food was just OK - a solid 3 Atmosphere is quite nice and charming, both inside and outside - 4 Service was terrible. It took 20 minutes to get 2 glasses of water to the table. The food came out with wilted/cooked lettuce and food that was warm, not hot, indicating it had sat for a while before being brought to the table. The place was not crowded at all. After delivering the food, the server never came back to check nor to refill drinks. We had to go in and ask for the check. A 1 at best. So rounding up, a generous score of 3. Eat here if you're between Chama and Espanola and hungry enough not to wait.

Had their "surf & turf" special last night. The steak was perfectly cooked to the medium rare temperature I prefer. The sous chef Sarah and executive chef Ray introduced themselves to us, very pleasant people.

This restaurant is locate in a local Inn, but is open to the public. There is amazing indoor and outdoor seating. The service was friendly and quick. We chose to sit in the outdoor seating, which is surrounded by giant trees and provided great views. The menu offered many tempting options. I attempted to order the lamb burger, which has an onion mint marmalade. Unfortunately, the restaurant was out of lamb. I ended up getting the chicken fried steak and was not disappointed. This was on of the best chicken fried steaks I have ever had. The bread was perfect and the flavor was amazing. It was tender and easy to cut. I also enjoyed lavender lemonade. I will definitely stop again when I am in the area. This place is highly recommended!

We had the piñon pancake stack and the breakfast burrito. $29. The burrito was huge and full. The chill sauces were top notch bringing heat and flavor. The piñon pancake we're huge and very filling. This was our first time having them and we were very happy we didn't get the buttermilk option. The staff was full of smiles and were courteous and attentive.

I'll start by saying that we have been huge fans of this restaurant for several years. Well, we just tried it for the first time since they rolled out their new menu, and what a disappointment. The menu is half the size of the old one, and is very pedestrian, lacking in any imagination. We had a hard time choosing anything we wanted to eat. So we shared the ceviche and the fish special, which was cornmeal battered cod. The ceviche was very good, but the fish was awful. It was served as fish strips, in a way over-salted cornmeal batter. It was overcooked and chewy. The best thing about the meal was the Happy Hour pricing. I'll give them another chance, because we really like it there, but first impression is that they've ruined rhe restaurant. I hope they can get back on track!

My husband and I took an overnight trip to Pagosa Springs for our wedding anniversary and decided to stop for lunch at Cafe Abiquiu on the way up. The dining room is nicely decorated, and we were seated pretty quickly. We both had the lamb burger; I got the housemade potato chips and my husband had a cup of avocado cucumber soup with his. The burger was very good, closer to medium than the medium rare I ordered, but tasty with an onion mint marinade and fresh spinach. The chips were also good and well-seasoned. My husband's soup was really tasty. It would make a nice light lunch with a salad. To drink, I had iced mint tea which was delicious. My husband's rosemary lemonade was excellent, and I would definitely order it again.

We're staying here at the inn and fly fishing around the area. It's such a charming inn and restaurant! Food is great ( charcuterie board, trout for dinner) , the inn is so clean, area is beautiful , and the servers and employees are friendly! We'll be coming back again, for sure

Service is abysmal. The wait to be acknowledged that we were waiting should have been the clue. But we waited. Got seated and waited. Finally a different server took our drink order. After another delay we were able to order. Food was good. The burger was great, skip the stale bun. The tacos were good as well, but, you guessed it, we had to wait to get the promised homemade salsa. The outdoor dinning area was nice, shaded and we had a breeze. In general, only go if you have time to wait and have no other options.

Cafe Abiquiu really exceeded our expectations. We thought it was just a road side joint but what we had was really tasty. The avocado and cucumber soup was delicious and refreshing with its touch of mint and the strawberry field green salad with optional salmon was also really good. There is plenty of room to sit both inside or outside and, while you are waiting, you can admire the many works of art for sale that are displayed on each wall. Both the art and the food are satisfying to both body and soul, but, fortunately, the food is much more in our price range! If you are visiting the Georgia O'Keeffe welcome center, the restaurant is conveniently right next door. There is plenty of parking and the service was very friendly.

After many people have raved about this place I decided to try it passing through Abiquiu today and the worst service ever from a lazy server that after coming by several times. Come to my table after a few gestures from me like wtf after an hour and 30 minutes of being a patient customer said idk what happened but the kitchen didn't get your order we will comp your food? Told her worst service ever this place is incompetent and the two beers I drank was on them for wasting my afternoon! Canceled my food and left starving!This was like the first meal I had waited to have in all day left at 325pm after sitting down and ordering at 2 and watching everyone around me order be served and leave what a joke! Never again! Stay clear of this horrible place!

Lovely dog-friendly patio! Food was fresh and tasty: We got the elote dip to share. I had the ABLT (BLT + avocado) and the hubby had the chicken enchilada. We also ordered a side of guacamole, which was perfectly made. The pinto beans were the real deal. We were seated quickly and our food arrived quickly. Walked the grounds after. This will be a regular stop for us!

We enjoyed lunch at this cute little cafe. The sandwiches were perfect. I enjoyed the cold cucumber soup. The view from the patio is quaint. As a birder, I was able to spot multiple birds in the courtyard. The service was also wonderful. We would definitely come back the next time we're in town.

There were things that merited a 1 or 2 and things that merited a 4-5, so I averaged this as a 3. We stayed at the Abiquiu Inn and so had breakfast here two mornings. The huevos rancheros were as good as many other reviewers said. I had them with red chili sauce the first day and we split one with green chili sauce the second day. Both were great, but I'd say the green was a 4 and the red was a 5. My wife had the Benedict the first morning and it was good but a little bland. They substituted a red chili sauce for hollandaise sauce but it could have used more red chili. The one dinner was another story. We ordered a bottle of Tempranillo - the server came back to tell us they were out. So we ordered some wines by the glass to figure out what else we might do and then tried to order dinner. My wife ordered the lamb burger - no lamb. She then tried to order the pork enchiladas - no pork. So we asked if there was anything else not available and the server said no steak. So, no lamb, no pork, and no steak! I had the green chili stew; fortunately they had stew beef and potatoes and it was tasty. My wife settled for the shrimp tacos, and they were - adequate.

The food is always nice at Cafe Abiquiu at the Abiquiu Inn. A nice assortment of salads, burgers and simple entrees. I enjoy their Green Chile Cheeseburger (with choice of slaw, fries or soup). The salads are tasty and ample. Both indoor and patio seating is available. Prices are very reasonable. Service is consistently spotty. It's often difficult to get drink refills or coffee after the meal. Very pretty setting for lunch or dinner.

We treated ourselves to a Valentine's getaway at the Abiquiu Inn, so we had the chance to eat at the on site restaurant. The property is so lovely year round and the cozy feel definitely includes the cafe. We had dinner and then breakfast the next morning, each meal had great presentation and was delicious! We ordered the Chicken Manuel and the Angus Strip Steak for dinner with wine and beverages. The steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare with tasty compound butter on top, the chicken was also yummy. Feedback is that the mashed potatoes were fluffy but quite bland, we asked the server for additional compound butter to liven them up. We tried a desert which was listed as a Piñon Tart with Dark Chocolate, but in reality it totally missed the mark and was pie crust filled with what seemed like over-the-top sweet fudge and a couple piñons sprinkled on top. For breakfast the next morning we both had the Huevos Rancheros which was heavenly and perfect with coffee on a chilly morning! I highly recommend this place even if you're not staying at the Inn.

I always make a point to stop here if I am just n the road between Abiquiu and my Northern New Mexico cabin. Breakfast is fantastic (even though I miss the Blue Corn pancakes) and the atmosphere is art inspired.The picture that is featured is the 2 stack pancake with piñon.

This can be very good, although the staff seems pretty tired a lot of the time...so service can be very uneven. The chef has been there for many years and can serve an enchilada about as good as you can find in all of New Mexico, however the cokes can be canned, there is no posole, rice or corn....be prepared for beans only, but they are good. don't go much after 11:45 for lunch because big groups can show up and the service really can suffer with long wait times generally.... The Bison burger is wonderful!!

Most of our three or four visits here have been 4-star, and we willingly drive an hour to have lunch. The most recent, about 8/19/21 at 3:00PM, was only 3-star. The positives: It's the only sit-down restaurant on the highway from Espanola to Chama, NM. They are open all day, so when you're through sightseeing or just want an off-hours lunch or dinner, you're welcome. The general ambiance is very nice, if a bit artsy-touristy (Georgia O'Keefe country, with$5000-20,000 sculptures offered in the front garden), within the Abiquiu Inn. The menu is sophisticated, NOT "Mexican," but NEW Mexican. (There's a delightful difference.) The featured cold avocado-cucumber soup is outstanding, and almost everything else is good to wonderful. The negatives: Our hostess/waitress was blasé and cool until time to pay the check and leave a tip. Her mask was down around her neck most of the time, even indoors. (We dined on the patio during Covid delta-vatiant times.) Service was a bit slow, both initially and for our food. The highway noise is substantial, and flies are often a problem indoors (common even in very nice northern NM restaurants). The prices are high, though not exorbitant for rural fancy dining.

I would have given this place 4 stars if the service had been even mediocre. We stopped in for lunch at noon on a Saturday. It was not close to busy when we arrived. Food was slow, but very good. We had the chopped salad, strawberry salad, portobello mushroom burger, and enchiladas. All were excellent. Asked for refills three times, never got them. Pointed out to the server that we never got the soup we ordered. It eventually came out 20 minutes after the food was not only out but also consumed. After another twenty minutes we gave up waiting for the bill and went and asked the hostess for it. We were in no rush, the weather on the patio was perfect, but the dogs at the table next to us had their bowl filled twice while we never got a single refill on any of our drinks.

The polenta cake was delicious and the sweet red peppers coulisse to die for. Our server was so friendly and welcoming. She offered us samples of home-brewed mint tea and rosemary lemonade. They were delicious had several refills. I had the Enchilada & Chile Relleno plate which, at 14 dollars, was super affordable as well as amazingly tasty. The Chile was the best relleno I've had in a LONG time. It had be fried in a very light and crispy batter making it crunchy and light. Sooooo good! We came back for breakfast the following morning as the restaurant had been such a hit...if it's not broke... :) The breakfast menu offers a very wide array of warm dishes spanning from eggs to pancakes. Because I am not a fan of either I asked to please get my usual...a sausage and cheese and bread. I honestly would have been ok with the ingredients on a plate and to assemble it myself (like it often happens when I order this) but the server was super nice and told me she'll see if they could make me a panini. Not only did I get the hot sandwich ready to eat and with hot gooey cheese melted in in, but it was also the BEST sausage and cheese sandwich I've had to date...and I should be an expert by now since I eat this a lot LOL. This place is just terrific. All around wonderful, from services provided (inn, restaurant, breakfast place, gift shop, patio seating...) amazing level of culinary options and complexity of flavors, but also tremendous staff who's happy and helpful and eager to please. We'll sure be back again if ever in the area. This is a little gem that should not be missed!

This place needs to step it up in a big way. Needs more staff, staff training and better customer service. We were likely repeat customers, but locals not treated with the same time and attention. After waiting 10 minutes to sit and knowing only helped when tourist arrived behind us it was only the start to more waiting. After waiting over half an hour without a I'll be right with you, I'll save myself any future or potential disappointment and just make the drive to espanola at least my order we I'll be taken. Please hire enough staff and train your existing staff. Major business fail. It's the peak for travel, place was busy and 2 poor wait staff dont cut it. They need help.

good local recommendation by the people around the area OMG the Corn cakes with pico de gallo and avocado were SO GOOD!! the corn cakes were so soft and buttery, its like a high quality deconstructed tamale. it was so good I ate my friend's corn cake as well. YUMYUMYUM. FRESH, MOIST, DELICIOUS. the fried cod sandwich was good. what is not to like about something deep fried and hot during a cold day? service was sparse, but what can I say? it's just a matter of staffing definitely good food, just try to ask for everything you need the first time they come around

Birthday dinner. Take out. We ordered Lamb Enchilada (Christmas), & Lamb Burger(medium) The enchilada was 2 tortillas pancaked with overcooked lamb inside. No sauce & NO Chili, red or green. Melted cheese on top. It was so dry and blah. After decades of eating enchiladas at many place, never had one this awful. Pintos were undercooked. The lamb burger was overcooked and tough. Honestly, this place used to be so good, but the past year they have gone down the tubes. Waste of $50. Burger was $17.

It was 11:30 am when we arrived. There were two servers waiting on customers, plus the hostess. We sat there for 15 minutes. Not even the hostess took our drink order. Another couple came in and the waitress waited on them fairly quickly. Considering how long we were still sitting there without even a glass of water, we decided to leave. If servers are busy, they will stop by and tell us they will be right with us, not ignore us. There is no excuse to ignore customers.

This place is stellar! We came here very hungry after a camping trip and were quickly greeted by the awesome staff. The food came out quickly and it was all very delicious. I ordered the Enchiladas with chicken and green chile which had a nice kick to it. The charro beans were some of the best I've ever had. I recommend sitting outside on the patio which is breezy and beautiful. There's lots of art inside and surrounding the Abiquiu Inn - definitely worth checking out.

We were on our way back from Ghost Ranch and this was the closest restaurant so we stopped for lunch. The atmosphere, food and service were excellent. We were surprised because it is pretty far away from anything but Ghost Ranch. The corn bisque soup was outstanding and the grilled trout tacos with blue corn tortillas excellent.

Be very careful. They are putting money and table turn over health. People piled up waiting for tables without 6 foot distancing. Servers and front wait staff are rude and don't care. It took raising it to manager for anything to be done. I am a GUEST paying over $250 for a piece of Sxxx room and they couldn't even get me a cold soup and a chip and salsa order in 45 minutes because they were " too backed up in the kitchen". I'm leaving tomorrow though I planed to stay 2 nights. This place is not safe. The manager is refunding my second night. They know exactly what's up. Used to be my favorite place to stay. Have spent thousands here. Will never stay here again.

Wonderful meal. Stopped for lunch. Trout tacos and chicken quesadillas perfect. Chocolate pinion tart perfect end. Perfect service peaceful setting on patio.

Great place to stop for a meal on your way to ghost ranch for a tour. Service was quick and food was so incredible. Breakfast really filled my belly with authentic New Mexico food.

Currently they have a limited menu which was disappointing. The black bean soup was delicious. Service was great. Both tacos and enchiladas were also good.
