21c Museum Hotel Cincinnati

"Why did this hotel catch your attention? What's the vibe? There are certain hotels that change the way you see a city, and 21c Cincinnati is a perfect example. Don't be mistaken for Ohio's friendly midwestern veneer - although that's definitely one of the reasons people love visiting here - there is a creative community and arts scene here that punches well above its weight. And that's apparent from the moment you step through the doors of 21c, a standard-setting boutique property which is part hotel, part museum, part restaurant. What's the backstory? Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the hotel's 100 year-old premises was formerly home to Cincinnati's Metropole Hotel, and subsequently a forgettable bloc of apartments and retail. But when 21c took over in 2009, they were careful to preserve much of the building's original features, including a grand staircase leading to the second floor ballroom and original mosaic tile floors. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book? Sometimes in high concept properties, the finer details can get overlooked. That's not the case here. Our king-sized bed was delightfully plush with nice, crispy bedhseets. The custom furniture pieces had a modern vibe, and acted as something of a palate cleanser to the rest of the hotel's high octane art collection. The bathrooms are delightfully funky - look a bit closer at the white subway tiles from Cincinnati-based Rookwood Pottery Company and you'll see surrealist ears, noses, and lips poking out. It's details like that which transform 21c from "just another funky hotel" to a really singular, memorable experience. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? No charge for Wi-fi Drinking and dining—what are we looking at? Even people who aren't staying at the hotel clamor for reservations at Metropole, where executive chef Vanessa Miller leads the way. The menu changes with the seasons, but you can expect such delights as a burnt carrot salad with pickled onion and feta, and a tea-brined chicken served with acorn squash and toasted farro. Chef Miller is also adapting to the Covid era by offering heat and eat take home meal kits. In the warmer months, the hotel's rooftop cocktail terrace is the place to be for hotel guests and locals alike. And the service? From the friendly valet out front, to the efficient front desk, most everything went off without a hitch. Since 21c sold to AccorHotels in 2018, it seems there have been a number of hiccups especially when it comes to housekeeping - missing wastebaskets, room service trays left in the hallway for too long, that sort of thing. What type of travelers will you find here? It's an eclectic crowd of hip business travelers, young couples, art lovers and foodies - pretty much anyone who wants to take advantage of the hotel's central Downtown Cincinnati location. The hotel even attracts a good amount of locals looking for a staycation, and lots of repeat guests - it's the kind of place that you notice a different detail, or different piece of art every time you stay. What about the neighborhood? Does the hotel fit in, make itself part of the scene? The location is superb. It's a short walk from all of Downtown Cincinnati's shops and museums, as well as over to the Smale Riverfront Park. If you're in town for a Cincinnati Reds game, this is where you want to be - not only is it just minutes from Great American Ballpark, but it's where lots of people will congregate before and after games, as well. Is there anything you'd change? The $38 valet charge feels a little steep. Any other hotel features worth noting? The art! Two floors of the premises are dedicated gallery spaces displaying a rotating mix of local and international artists. The galleries are open to the public and free of charge. So even though they are temporarily open by appointment only due to Covid, there is always a contingent of local art enthusiasts stopping by 21c to see what's on view. There's also a small spa offering a number of facials, peels and massages. Bottom line: Worth it? Why? Ask any local or regular and they will tell you the hotel definitely had its heyday before getting acquired by AccorHotels in 2018, but maybe that's just their midwestern roots showing. 21c is still a beloved part of Cincinnati's downtown scene." - Todd Plummer

The Best Hotels in the U.S.: 2020 Readers' Choice Awards

"We've long been fans of the 21c Museum Hotels—chic properties that double as contemporary art museums. And the Cincinnati outpost, which opened its doors in late 2012, is one of the best the brand has to offer. The property sits in the 100-year-old former Metropole Hotel in downtown Cincinnati, and the 21c architects and designers made sure to integrate many of the building's original features, including the lobby's mosaic tile floors, the sweeping staircase leading to the ballroom, and gorgeous terra cotta that lines the exterior. The 156-room hotel boasts a rooftop bar and spa, along with the Metropole restaurant, led by executive chef Michael Paley—plus 8,000 square feet of exhibition and event space (artwork rotates regularly). Rooms are minimal and sleek, but have pops of artwork on the walls, lest you forget where you are for a moment." - CNT Editors

Our experience with this hotel was amazing in every way. First and foremost, the entire staff from valet, front desk, cleaning and restaurant went above and beyond to make our stay a grand experience. The location was perfect for a walk to the park on the river after a delicious breakfast in the cafe. The food and drinks at the hotel are delicious and tasty, and we thoroughly enjoyed them every morning. I highly recommend visiting the Findley Market, walking there and plan to take the bus back with lots of purchases - great food, handmade bags and wine. Every time we returned home to the hotel we were greeted with smiles and a clean cozy comfortable room. We did not have the opportunity to use the spa but it looked wonderful. They allowed us the opportunity to check out the terrace and it was beautiful! I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone, thanks again to all the staff for a wonderful extended weekend. We will be back!

Google
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. When I arrived the room I got assigned to was completely under construction and it took a half hour to get a new room because the guy was not trained properly on the computer. I was told that my room would be cleaned everyday, however it was only cleaned once during my five day stay. The one time it was cleaned they left the soap in the shower empty, no toilet paper at all in the bathroom, and the used water glassed were left with no clean replacements. I had to constantly go to the front desk to ask for clean towels or for these cleaning services and they were not caring or helpful in solving these basic hotel services. The common areas also were lacking. The hotel gym was basic but the real problem was that it was dirty and had an awful smell. There were no common sitting areas and the "business center" was a literally closet with a table and no chair. This hotel really tried to be high end but they are lacking when it comes to hotel basics. Every hotel should provided comfortable, clean accommodations and this hotel did not even come close. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. If you are really interested in seeing the art, I recommend staying anywhere else and visiting the installations.

This was my first time visiting Cincinnati, and I had a great experience at this hotel. The rooms were clean, modern, and updated—I especially appreciated the thoughtful touch of providing a robe. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The location was also a big plus—close to everything and within walking distance of restaurants and attractions. I’d definitely stay here again!

Very friendly and helpful staff. I stayed in a suite two nights. We did not get room cleaning service even though it was supposed to be included, minibar was out of service so I had to order one to the room. The carpets are old and look dirty, the mirror door for the closet had a nick, the TV in the bedroom was flimsy. Overall a good stay but would not pay the money for a suite again. Lacks a good manager to overlook small aspects of what should be luxury hospitality. The food at the restaurant was really good. The art in the hotel was great. Easy valet parking that was included with the suite.

My husband and I planned a short get away for our anniversary and decided to stay at 21C in Cincinnati. Thinking that it may be a little swanky and something besides the ordinary hotel we didn’t mind paying a little more. We booked a studio king room, hoping it would be a little more unique or maybe with a little something special from the standard room. Check in was smooth and easy and the bell hops and valet parking were very helpful. When we got to our room we discovered that our fridge did not work, their solution to this was bringing one up and sticking it in the middle of our room. The room was fine, nothing special though. There was a piece of art work on the wall. When I went to take a bath I discovered the tub was broken and would not hold water. I was hoping for more of a view than the brick walls surrounding us that I received. Overall we still had an amazing time but the next time we go back it will likely be to a different hotel.

This has been one of my favorite hotel stays ever. From the moment we checked in everyone working here has shown us incredible hospitality. From Mr. Mann at the front desk, Jeremy in the restaurant, the valet, room service. Just wonderful staff. I knew the hotel itself would be nice. We’d stayed before at the 21c in Louisville a few years ago. Will have to come back for a longer visit.

I was very pleased with our stay! The room was gorgeous, spacious and clean. Nice city view. Lights had dimmers. The bathroom had both a shower and bath tub. The restaurant was delicious. All of the staff were friendly, professional and down to earth. Easily walkable to attractions and convenience and drug stores for small snacks and drinks.

Google
I have never been more compelled to give a great rating than in this review. EVERY employee was kind, detail oriented, and attentive in every encounter. Great location, centrally located, and along the fare free streetcar. The art museum exhibits made the stay even more exciting.

Yelp
I've stayed here before (and reviewed it then too). There are less expensive hotels, but none as cool as this one when it comes to art. When I stayed here in 2022, there was a large Bisa Butler exhibit, with several supporting pieces from artists of color. This time was no different--several pieces from Black, African, and Indigenous artists. All bright, creative, stimulating. This time I was slated for a king, but got upgraded to a corner suite for 45 dollars a night (great deal when you take into account the original price). The suite has a large sitting area, a table with four chairs, a bar/credenza, a separate bedroom with plenty of drawer and closet space, and bathroom. The bathroom has a separate toilet space, then a wet room with a shower and soaking tub. The soaking tub is not the most amazing one I've ever had (Oklahoma City had the best I've ever experienced in a 21C), and I wish the lights in there were softer, but I'll take any tub I can on any day! The bed is comfy, in general well equipped. My only real gripe was that the bathroom, tub, robes, and towels were full of hair that didn't belong to me, and if I'm paying almost 1500 dollars for two nights, I'm not sure I can let that pass. I know housekeeping is often overwhelmed and understaffed, but really? Front desk was attentive. Restaurant (reviewed separately) is great. Love the art. Love being able to wander around with a cocktail and ponder what it all means. Valet is also responsive and helpful. And the hotel is walking distance from a lot of great spots. Glad I stayed here, can't beat the food, drinks, and art. Hair be damned.

Yelp
Very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful - from the valet parking to front desk and cleaning staff. Easy location if you're seeing a show. The art was definitely not my cup of tea but art is subjective.

Yelp
This is a great location while staying downtown. You are able to walk to bars/ restaurants as well as the riverfront and stadium. I was captivated by the artwork at the museum and in the rooms. The breakfast at the restaurant is good however dinner could make improvements in order to compete with the neighboring options. The hotel bed was comfortable and the sheets were pleasantly soft. The shower water pressure by far was the best thing about my stay. The heavy drops of water felt like a cleansing weighted blanket. The ultimate downside was the lack of tlc of a larger hotel chain. The cleaning needs improvement and the shower grouts could use attention. Beautiful stay just needs more attention to detail for maintenance.

Yelp
I received the confirmation email showing a price of $367 per nite. Upon check in I received an email from my visa account with a $523 charge. This hotel charges a $100 incidental fee upon checkin. I had no incidental charges and am now waiting 3 to 5 business days for the credit. There are no refrigerators or microwaves in the rooms. The only ice they offer is upon request and it is delivered by hotel staff in a plastic bag...no ice bucket. So, if you want a room for 3x a holiday Inn express with less amenities this is your hotel. Concierge parking is $39. I parked in a municipal lot in the same block for $23. The bar/restaurant was equally pricey. On Friday nite at 8 pm there were 2 men at the bar and 2 tables seated. The hotel was largely empty. As such , the market has figured out that this hotel is a stay of last resort...but I didn't know, hence I am leaving this review. I would have been much better off staying on the interstate and driving in. Beware. It is now 3 days later and no credit.

Yelp
We stayed one night and treated my son and friend to birthday meals at the restaurant, which is very high-end. The modern art made the stay a wonderful adventure. Our waiter was awesome and after our meal we wandered the two floors of art displays, which was very cool. We had a comfortable nights sleep in a clean, modern hotel room. Having good food and entertainment at the hotel made the stay special.

Yelp
Stayed 9/27/24 The good: -great location in downtown Cincy -great restaurant/bar attached -cool bathrooms that were clean The bad: -hotel is showing it's age -carpets dirty in hallways -musty odor in rooms and rooms are dusty and showing their age. -red splatter on ceiling in room...is it wine...or is it blood? -no parking and valet not efficient. Circled 8 times waiting for a spot. ultimately paid for street parking until the valet could go get my car to park as the front desk did not recommend parking overnight on the street. Overall...was a premiere hotel when first opened but now showing its age and hasn't kept up with the time. Won't stay here again unless it changes

Yelp
We stayed here for a week for my big birthday. We were both born and raised in Cincinnati, but spent the last seven years in California. Moving back, we noticed a lot had changed while we were gone. I wanted to take the opportunity to stay downtown and get reacquainted with our city. Staff was great during the valet to check in. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was extraordinary, with Rookwood tiles of noses, eyes and other body parts! LOL It was pretty cool. The hotel must have a water softener, which made showering an absolute delight! We visited the bar each night; fyi we don't drink alcohol. They had great NA options, including a wine I fell in love with. The staff in the bar were fantastic. They even made an extra effort to provide me with birthday macarons, which was super sweet and very much appreciated. Metropole is a fantastic restaurant, which I've reviewed separately. The art in the hotel is fantastic. They were doing some updating in some of the areas, so our art exploration was a bit limited, but still wonderfully interesting. Of note, the floor lighting on the floor outside the restrooms is fun!!! If you are there for the hotel or for dinner, you gotta check it out!

Yelp
I've heard such good things about this hotel, so when it came time for me to book a work trip to Cincy, I was pleased to see 21C as an option. I arrived out front and a valet was there to direct me to check in and take my car off my hands ($40 a night). Check in was fairly easy but I was bummed that the art displays in the lobby were under construction and all blocked off.. That was one of the selling points for me. All good, there were other artistic elements throughout the hotel. My room was on one of the top floors and had a nice view of Downtown Cincinnati. The bathroom was large, there was a fridge in my room (don't find that too often anymore), and I liked that I could Chromecast my Netflix on the television. My bed was large, the giant white robes were comfy, and everything was really clean. I stayed for two nights and slept pretty well. The main reason why I docked a star was because check out and the days following check out were not the best. They charged me $177 twice for having a late check out... which was inaccurate as I checked out around 9am on the day I was heading home. I found myself on the phone with them 3-4 times before they could get everything worked out and I finally got my refunds. I also wasn't provided with a receipt when I left. I assumed they emailed it to me but when I got home, nope, nothing. You'd think it would be common practice to email a final invoice for my stay. I had to discover the two $177 charges myself after reviewing my credit card statements. Look, I understand that people book rooms here using all different kinds of websites but this wasn't acceptable and could have been prevented with a little attention to detail. While my stay was pleasant until it was over, I'm not totally sold on staying again. There's plenty of other hotels in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is kind of amazing. It's not a hotel it's an actual museum with a hotel built around it. There is art everywhere you look even on the floors in places. As I was checking out I realized that even the front desk was a piece of art. All of the art is owned by the owner of the hotel, and all of the artists are living and frequently come and give seminars there. Even the showers have been converted to pieces of art, with ceramic body parts cleverly sticking out of the walls. The front desk staff and management is absolutely fantastic. The bed is very comfortable and they have blackout shades that pull down behind the curtains so the room is completely black. Highly recommend. I actually had a brief interaction with the Director of Operations, David Kennedy, and he is a true hospitalitarian. You can tell he cares deeply about his property and guest satisfaction. 10 out of 10.

Yelp
I stayed at the 21C hotel in Cincinnati for a conference and overall the hotel was pretty great. I love the museum thene and artwork in the lobby and the front desk staff was pretty great as well and the location was perfect. However, my room smelled like smokes and had a damp feeling in the room and overall, I just did not like the space of the room, but the front desk and the location definitely made up for that and I would definitely stay there again and just think that there should be some minor upgrades to some of the rooms

Yelp
Unique concept for a hotel and we loved the bathroom with all the sneaky tiles! Check in was smooth and valet was a breeze. Clean, comfy, and spacious rooms. Hotel is located downtown and 15 min walk to OTR area.

Yelp
This is a generous review given that my experience at 21c was awful. That being said, Natalie at the front desk was lovely and tried her absolute best to better my experience. So, thank you, Natalie! You rock. The check in process was fine. Quick and easy, nothing special but that works for me! When going up to my room, I found the hallways to be a little run down and dated looking which I did not expect for a 4 star, arts hotel downtown. This is also something I can get past because the room is where I am sleeping! The room however, was gross. The carpet was clearly dirty or just not vacuumed enough in between stays. The bathroom was even worse. I will attach the photo of the drain in the shower. EW! I saw the person before me post about the bloody robe and now this?! Maybe the hotel is going downhill. I emailed the client services team to let them know about this and requested a response via email. Got nothing in return. I then called the front desk to let them know. The man at the front made it seem like he had already seen my message and chose to ignore it. I said I didn't want to move rooms because I had already ironed and unpacked a bit. I was not offered an apology or for someone on the cleaning service team that could be sent up to support. Just so rude. Would not stay again.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed on our wedding night and have been going for our anniversary every year since. The staff went above and beyond to help make our stay extra special! We really appreciated all the extra touches and we always have the best time! We also highly recommend their spa! Thank you so much!!

Yelp
Update: The management had me email with them back and forth for a week and a half, until they finally refunded me a bar bill WHICH WAS STOLEN from me in the first place by their bartender. The only reason they refunded my STOLEN money, was because I brought a lawyer into it. That's all you need to know about this place.

Yelp
It was nice to arrive here after a long day of traveling . Part museum and part hotel the museum vibe continues in the hotel rooms with quirky designs throughout. The walls in the bathroom even have sculpture like tiles. There is a rooftop bar with views of the city and the aforementioned gallery available for a tour. I can't comment on the hotels restaurant , but the bed offered a comfortable rest .The check in desk was friendly . I'd return if I was in the area again.

Yelp
21 C Hotel Cincinnati My phone was stolen by housekeeping staff. Secure your belongings. Left my phone in the bathroom, on my way out I seen housekeeping going into the bathroom, went back and my phone was gone. Security camera was checked and verified only the one staff person entered and left the bathroom between my return to get my phone. Management would do nothing to help.

Yelp
Love the entire chain of 21c hotels - we've stayed in Louisville, Lexington and Chicago, and while we've visited the bar in Cincinnati before, this was our first overnight stay! First off, 21c never disappoints with interesting art installations! They were in the process of changing exhibits while we were there, but for the first time I encountered one of the wandering penguins and that more than made up for that! (We may or may not have borrowed the penguin overnight.... Penguin-napping is so much fun!). The staff was very friendly and helpful, and kept us well-stocked with ice! The room was perfect (we had a standard king room) and the bathroom was immaculate. I have to say - I had way too much fun with the funky tiles in the shower! Can't wait to come back - this is such an amazing location and couldn't be more convenient! Pro tip - valet was reasonably priced and worth the cost. It's $20+ to park overnight anywhere downtown, and the convenience of having our car right there great! The valets at this location also have absolutely phenomenal hair btw!

Yelp
Been here a few times now and have had a mixed set of experiences. Feel like it's went a little downhill since the pandemic. Our last stay had a few issues but we looked over them (missing robe, not all towels, broken curtain rod, power cords tangled, some random things in the floor that were garbage like a champagne bottle top and rose petals, and dead light bulbs) but it was just not what I'm sure would be expected... That all said, based on multiple trips, overall 4/5 for: - proximity to food and activities - great art gallery to enjoy - valet service - good front desk service Great place if you're doing at Arnoff Center

Amy B.

Yelp
We had high expectations for this high end hotel due to the price, convenient location, it being a museum, and where many local top businesses put up their visiting top executives from it of town for overnight stays. Pros: walkable to many restaurants and theaters; clean rooms; fun bathroom tiles; updated bathrooms; they held luggage for us while went to the theatre since I room wasn't ready; neat art work Cons: valet parking 39.00 per day; front desk wasn't super welcoming; when called ahead to ask if we could check in an hour early-yes for an extra 75.00; cold sterile lobby; we ordered a charcuterie board to be delivered upon arrival-it was 90 minutes late; ordered cookies and milk as a special treat for granddaughter after the show and dinner- cookies were hard to the point we tried to crack them on the counter but couldn't. Called front desk and so far it hasn't been refunded; bedroom area was clean but extremely plain; no trash can in the bathroom; beds weren't comfortable...there are some hotel beds you just know it's quality but this reminded me of sleeping on a bed at Girl Scout camp...noisy and flat. Stay at the Westin instead.

Yelp
The beds are so comfortable. The decor is so cute! I want the dog pillow that was in my room. So adorable. The staff was five star. My mom wanted to watch the warriors win and we couldn't find the right channel. They sent a tech up to help her get the game on. The room service was lovely. The adjoining restaurant Metrople was outstanding. Highly recommend staying here as it doubles as an actual museum. This is our third stay here. They were so accommodating and kind. They seemed genuinely interested in making our experience outstanding, and they succeeded. We will definitely be back next year!

Yelp
We stayed here last year and decided to make it a part of our Opening Day tradition. The location is awesome and we love the hotel and the hotel staff. I'm giving 4 stars due to our vehicle reeked of weed when we picked it up from the valet. It was nauseating.

Yelp
This is a fun hotel. I recently stayed at the 21c Museum Hotel in Chicago, so I knew what to expect with the art gallery, even though unfortunately we didn't have time to check it out this trip. I won a free 2-night stay here last year, through Yelp Cincinnati - they hosted a virtual drag queen bingo that I attended, and I was one of the first winners, so I chose this stay! Which was a great prize, because normally it's about $150-200+ per night here. I can't help but compare our room here to the one in Chicago, so here goes: Pros: -Very nicely appointed room. Smaller than the one in Chicago, as it's mostly just a bathroom and a bed (Chicago had a small little sitting area, even though it was also a standard King room). -Bathroom was huge as compared to Chicago. Shower only, no bathtub. Shower had some interesting quirks - this is going to sound weird but they put some body part pictures in it (see my pics). Definitely a talking point! I posted some pics on Instagram and friends were curious about that. -King bed was nice and comfortable. -Nespresso machine with four pods, as well as tea selections. -Great location in the middle of downtown. We walked to dinner our first night and it was only about a 15-minute walk. -Luxurious bathroom toiletries, same brand as Chicago's -Very friendly hotel staff, especially the front desk workers. Cons: -We did get housekeeping on Sunday but they didn't replace the Nespresso pods (used ones) or the shampoo/conditioner/body wash. -They wanted $39 a night for valet - shoutout to the Yelper one here that recommended 600 Vine instead, it cost us about $28 per night that way so we saved some money. 600 Vine does a weekend special where it's $7 for every 8 hours, which is a pretty good deal, esp. if you aren't parking there for more than 8 hours (but we parked overnight both nights). It's only about a 1-block walk from the hotel, too. -This is a pro and a con: there was a minifridge that normally would be stocked with items, but it was empty, so we used it for our own beverages (this is a pro). Con: when we went to check out, there was a $20 charge for liquor on my bill, and when I asked if the fridges are normally stocked, the front desk person said no ... so obviously it wasn't a legit charge. They did remove it for me right away, but this is why I always ask to see the hotel folio and do a proper checkout vs. just leaving the keys in the room. Overall this was a very nice hotel, though, and I would stay here again if visiting Cincinnati.

Yelp
Starting to look a bit tired/ worn out which surprised me. Hadn't been in about 5 years, and it was a bit worse for the wear. But at least they allow dogs and had Bisa Butler and Nick Cave in the front lobby. Other big downer: their restaurant is not doing breakfast anymore (as of August 2022). No instructions in room for the fancy coffeemaker thing, which was a downer. Love the concept and style, but needs a deep clean and spruce up. If you face the street, it's pretty noisy.

Yelp
Room prices. We booked a Room for 2 on 8/4 2 weeks ago. The price has dropped $80 and the hotel will not adjust our price. DO NOT BOOK ahead of time and check the pricing after you book. Then cancel and rebook. It seems like the hotel likes to penalize out of town guests. Stay somewhere else!!!!!!

Yelp
Very unique hotel conveniently located in the business district downtown. Unfortunately we stayed just one night but our experience was great. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the whole vibe of this place is A+. From the artwork to the exhibits, the lighting...everything is beautiful and clean.

Yelp
Not impressed. I guess I can go out and collect different dog turds and call myself a museum. To each his own I guess. Rooms are not comfortable. Layout poorly. No space for a computer setup. Large suitcase doesn't fit on luggage rack. Sheets don't fit the bed so when you pull back the covers the bottom sheet goes too. But it's quiet so there is that. One extra star.

Yelp
We are headed back to the 21C Hotel for our 33rd anniversary and frankly could have booked our stay much closer to home. My wife enjoyed the warmth and hospitality last December for her birthday so much that she wanted to go back, so we are confirmed for Memorial Day weekend. If you have not visited 21 C properties I highly recommend the Cincinnati location, for it eclectic art, second to non customer service and the restaurant experience. Btw; it's part of the Fine Hotels Collection. Be sure to ask for Mr. Derrick Jerome, he will take excellent care of you. Mike & CJ. Moore

Yelp
Pretty unique hotel.... It's an art museum/hotel. Very good location . It's central to almost anything.

Yelp
Free museums are my jam. And 21c locations are the jammiest! I have never had the opportunity or the pleasure of actually staying at a 21c Hotel. I assume it is a bit expensive because they are boutique, artsy hotels, usually located in the heart of the popular areas of town. But, every city that I have visited that boasts a 21c, I have made the effort to visit. Because there is always something interesting to see there! We were in town and exploring the area for Blink, and decided to stop in at 21c not only to use the restrooms on our way back to our Airbnb, but also to peep the art and Blink installation in the alley. It was crowded, but people were polite and the staff, though overwhelmed, were also friendly. I adore contemporary art, and 21c has that to offer in spades! There is always something interesting, bold, eye-catching, or thought-provoking to see. Not to mention the colorful penguins all around peeping on you! Totally worth a stop in, at least for the museum side of their offering!

Yelp
First time staying at the Cincinnati 21C, second 21C experience (first was in Louisville). My two favorite things about these hotels are the art and the kindness of the staff. Visually, the hotel is just a cool, funky place. The valets, front desk employees and waitstaff in the restaurant were all very friendly and kind. Everyone I interacted with was professional. The hotel itself is in a great location downtown, perfect walking distance to a lot of great restaurants and things to do.

Yelp
Really love this hotel. It is a step above most hotels on all levels. Hospitality, decor, amenities. 21c is worth the price tag. The room we received was cozy and had a great view of the Aronoff and Nada. I love the Rookwood bathroom tile and comfy bed. Most hotel beds aren't that comfortable but 21c definitely surpassed expectations. I slept wonderfully! It was so fun to walk around the museum and different halls with my husband. The art all around is really unique and beautiful. It's not all just framed photos on the walls. There's extremely long LED hanging lights, 3D paper macrame, very unique! Parking is unreal expensive so we parked ourselves on the street for a tenth of the price. Highly recommend considering this before you arrive if you're thrifty like me. Our reservation included breakfast at Metropole. This covered ALL food and coffee. I expected them to have a special "discounted" menu but no, you're able to order anything you want. This was nice. We were even offered pastries to go. I'd love to stay at 21c again.

Yelp
I visited the 21C this weekend for Yelp's Battle of the Brunches and absolutely loved the space. The building itself has so many neat features and the art exhibit was thoughtful and displayed so it was overwhelming for a gathering. Metropole's additions to the brunch were also excellent- the coffee was great and the bacon was so, so good.

Yelp
This was our first stay here... First, valet was great. Very welcoming and we were confident they would take care of our vehicle which they did. Next was the front desk, they were great. Very welcoming as well. Now for our room. Very clean, but this is we're the the decrease in stars come in. The thermostat was wayyyyyyyyy off. It was warm when we walked in, so we set it to 65 before we left for a show and dinner. (I know, 65 is kinda chilly). Well, about 6 hours later we come back, the thermostat says 65, but it's still kinda warm. The hall way was actually cooler. I had to strip down because it was so warm in there. Now as for the bed, it wasn't very comfy. I was expecting something like when we stay at Lytle Park. Nope, it was kinda uncomfortable and the protective sheet underneath made it even hotter than it already was in the room. It was was hard to sleep. Overall, I don't think we'll be back since the room was subpar.

Yelp
We have been there before for brunch. We met friends. Food is always good as was the food. Got their farm egg omelette with egg whites only. It had a kick to it. - with whole wheat toast and hot tea. And the smoked salmon Benedict with the Hollandaise on the side. They serve a lot of Hollandaise. I learned the last time to order it on the side. Also tried the Switch Hitter - light on the gin and heavier on the bourbon. That was good. Great art exhibit.

Yelp
What a great experience!! Upon entry, the 21c has a super high tech temperature scanner that greets you right at the door. The hotel was spotless and you can tell the staff really cared about the safety of its guests. We stayed in a king luxury room and it was the perfect size. The hotel was in a great location and was in walking distance to great bars and restaurants both downtown and in over the rhine. The staff was extremely friendly and greeted us as we came and left. They held our luggage for us while we parked our car and even after we checked out and wanted to get brunch. The valet parking is $38 which isn't terrible but there are a lot of other garages nearby as well for similar or cheaper rates. The hotel is connected to the delicious metropole restaurant and also has a spa on its top floor. If you visit be sure to check out whatever exciting exhibit is going on as well. The museum aspect of the hotel is so unique! You can even grab a drink at the bar downstairs before you head up the spiral staircase to browse the beautiful art they have on display. Overall I had a GREAT time staycationing at the 21C and will definitely be back in the future! P.S. don't forget to be on the lookout for the yellow penguins

Yelp
If you're one to go by ratings, the 21c Cincinnati is 2019's #1 rated hotel in Ohio! Add to this that Hotel Covington was awarded the same prestige in Kentucky and it looks like Cincinnati has swept the board on high end, boutique hotels. I didn't stay at the 21c myself but I had a friend visiting from Warren, OH who needed an urban getaway. Let me say, it deserves the title and more. A few highlights: the 21c rooftop bar, the 21c spa, Metropole bar/restaurant and of course the exceptional contemporary art! In the context of a mini-vacation, the 21c is perfectly situated. Right by the streetcar/train lines, close to top restaurants like Sotto, across from the Aronoff and service that is top notch. Even down the tiny details in each room (there are bathroom tiles shaped like noses, abs, ears) it's a quirky but classy experience (...it is a Museum Hotel, after all). The 21c would be my top personal choice and my top recommendation in Cincinnati and it has the laurels to rest on... for now.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel and the staff is amazing and so sweet. Clean and unique. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I left a bracelet in the room after we left, the front desk ran up to get it. FYI. During covid, the room service meals end at 10, and most of the restaurants are closed at 10 as well. The mini bar is not available in the room because of covid, but you can get stuff in the lobby. 21c is my favorite place to stay with my friends in Cincinnati. Pre covid, many restaurants and bars to walk to. Right across from Aronoff Center, too.

Yelp
I was invited by the Yelp group for their annual awards/ end of year celebration. When I arrived at the hotel, a valet was waiting to assist a costumer & valet parking was available for costumers which makes it convenient for me since I don't like walking in the dark to the parking lot. He seemed very nice and named how much for valet parking- $8 which was very reasonable. The inside of the hotel is a work of art! I had the chance of checking the art work, and they were all magnificent! I heard there's a restaurant inside, I have to check that out next time. The rating is based on the art work, cleanliness, and the efficient and friendly workers that I encountered during my visit to this hotel..

Yelp
No hot water. Pretty frustrating when you have been driving all day and out walking around in these temps. Called the front desk and they told us that they apologize and it should be on around 4 am... Come on! Very disappointed for 250+$ a night!

Yelp
21C is so much more than a hotel. 21C is the brainchild of a couple who wanted to share their love of modern art with the world. Their collection had grown too large to display in their own homes. Rather than loan their collection out, they decided to create something of their own. What resulted is a chain of hotels that doubles as modern art museums. The art in the lobby is available for public view 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. Yes, even for those not staying at the hotel. Food and beverages are allowed while viewing the art. Exhibits travel from hotel to hotel. Pieces are not selected randomly. They usually follow a theme. A gift shop allows visitors to take home books of modern art, and swag featuring the hotel mascot, the yellow penguin. Select pieces are only visable to guests staying on particular floors. 21C is a full service hotel. Each hotel is not only a love letter to modern art, but the city it resides in. Rooms at the 21C in Cincinnati include tiles made by Rookwood Pottery. Some of the pictures in the rooms highlight the history of Cincinnati. Rooms are modern yet comfortable. A banquet space is available for your special event. The area may be sectioned off for/as a waiting area then seperate banquet space. The waiting area has it's own optional bar. Weather permitting, there is a rooftop bar. Cocktails are fun and supper yummy. The space has great views of the city. It is the perfet spot to enjoy a drink before or after experiencing any number of their luxurious treatments at their day spa. The spa rooms include a premium showers. Their adjoining restaurant, Motropole is known for their burnt carrot salad. The hotel is on the pricey side. Valet parking is available.

Yelp
The hotel is really unique, and I love the art and the location is amazing. The rooms feel as though they were very cheaply made. However, I would likely stay there again because of the location, nice staff, and convenience.

Yelp
We stay here every first weekend in Dec. My husband's law firm has their annual partner holiday event here every year. It's a very artistic property and lots of fun located in a great part of downtown. Knocked off one star for this past weekend's experience with the bar staff. Dinsmore spends quite a bit of resources for this event and we had to flag down the female bartender who shared she works every Saturday night (really?). At the opening of the Ohio State/Wisconsin game we asked for 10 tequila shots. Her response, "Are you serious?" No smile. Yes. One for each of the TEN people at the bar. Wow. Zero personality and acted as if every time we asked for a drink or had a generic question we were bothering her. Step it up 21c - put your BEST most talented bartenders on the busiest nights especially for a repeat event where we take over the property. Let me be clear. The valet staff, front desk is amazing. The housekeepers - fantastic. Could have been a one off night in the bar - still - it's inconsistent with the rest of the property staff.

Yelp
The customer service was great. We were not staying at the hotel, but wanted to view the art. We were granted access to the 1st 2 floors. After we finished, we were referred to the Weston gallery across the street where we view Michael Coppage' as exhibit. It was a life changing experience.

Yelp
The hotel was awesome. We pulled up and Derrick met us he was fantastic. He checked us in and brought our luggage to our room. . Jimmy was great also both guys were very friendly and welcoming. The Hotel is awesome the art was nice. The restroom in the lobby was the cleanest of of any hotel I've seen. I loved the rooms. They were large and very clean. The first night we got there we thought we would walk and explore the around 9:30pm we where confronted by 2 homeless people begging for money and one guy just followed us. We quickly went back to the Hotel. The next night we set out early (7:30 pm) while walking a few steps outside the hotel a guy coming running out of the bar next door and throws up in the street, one guy was yelling and another guys was begging for money and would not go away. There was a guys sleeping on the sidewalk. After 4 minutes of leaving the hotel we didn't feel safe. So we went back to the hotel. Once you get out of downtown there are some very nice area. The Hotel is very very nice just don't venture out alone.

Yelp
I visited the hotel as part of a Yelp event. It is beautiful! We picked up our string backpack and made sure to order some food from the restaurant. I got seared salmon- so yummy, my husband opted for the ribs and loved them. A friend of mine told me that the hotel has an amazing roof top bar. I definitely want to try it out in the srinf/summer.

Yelp
I absolutely love this small chain of hotels and museums. I have been to three: Louisville, Durham, and now Cincinnati. The displays are thoughtful, creative, and interesting. I also enjoy the penguin theme, and I enjoyed this one in particular, because there was a Penguins Pride Parade going on here for the month of June. The bed was so comfortable and I liked the various body parts jutting out of the shower. The lighting was perfect and the espresso maker really made the stay complete. Clever, sexy, comfortable, and fun. If I go to any of the other cities where this hotel/museum exists, I'll make a stop for sure. I didn't eat at Metropole but I have eaten at Proof on Main in Lousiville and also Counting House in Durham. If Metropole is like either of those two, I am pretty sure it is nothing short of amazing. I'll be back as soon as I possibly can!

Yelp
The style of the hotel is very fun and the restaurant food, service and environment are top notch. I had to give a 2 star review because we had a bad experience at check in. They had one person working reception at 4:00 pm on a Friday. It was hectic and there were other staff standing around not helping. Our original room also had the shower handle break off when we first tried it, and the next room they put us in was missing furniture. I don't have a huge problem with all of this, but the most disappointing part was I wrote to the management about our experience, and six days later they have yet to respond. I mentioned it to a supervisor at checkout and he recommended I post online about it, but still did nothing about it. Just not great customer service in responding to problems (which I know is a regular part of the hospitality industry).

Yelp
I liked it/ will be back. Old building; my room was a tad musty. My pet peeve is crappy desk chairs. I do laptop work for biz travel, and I like a nice chair. These ar low budget junk. $38 for valet parking is over the top. Otherwise, all good.

Yelp
Great concept. I only had a little spare time to wonder the exhibit halls, but enjoyed the brief reprieve during the business trip. Rooms were clean and spacious. The staff was very friendly. LOVE the penguins!
