23 St Marys Guest House (Book Direct For Best Prices)

Second time I've stayed here. It's a very nice experience from the lovely decor, comfortable room, delicious breakfast and easy 10 min walk to the train station. On a quiet street, it's also fairly close to town center. I had a restful night here and would definitely recommend 23 St Mary's and would stay again if lucky enough to get back to York. Tiny downsides- Bathroom fan is noisy and goes on quite a while after shutting off light. Breakfast staff were friendly to all the English guests but only spoke to me as needed for service. Not a big deal but it would've been nice to interact a bit.

We recently spent a month traveling around the UK. We spent four nights in York at 23 St. Mary's Guest House and it was one of the highlights of our trip. We had a lovely room on the 3rd floor that was decorated with adorable bird wallpaper and included a bathroom with a large bathtub (which I definitely took advantage of after a long day of exploring!) A yummy full English breakfast was included and we were even able to get our laundry done for an incredibly reasonable price. Staff was wonderful - very friendly and helpful. Location is in a very quiet neighborhood and was perfect for all of our exploration - close to the train station and city center. We highly recommend 23 St. Mary's for a stay in York!

Loved staying here!! It was the perfect pick for a short break. The rooms were lovely and clean, the bed was VERY comfortable, and the bathroom was stunning. All fantastic for the price. The hotel is unmanned after 4pm but the staff were so welcoming and helpful during the early part of the day, and we were provided an on call number if we had any issues in the evenings (we didn’t!). Absolutely perfect location. Couldn’t find anything better if you tried. Just a few hundred metres walk directly from the station, then a short stroll through the museum gardens to the city centre! No faults, thank you!

Our room was very comfortable for a family of 4. We had one king and two twin beds, and the room was spacious enough to enjoy our short excursion to York. The location was fantastic. We could walk to the train station and to the city center. The street is quiet and beautiful. The bathroom was a highlight. It was spotless and looked recently renovated. The only thing was that we never saw any adult staff on the premises. The teen girls that worked there were very nice but couldn’t answer some of our questions. It would have been nice to have had face to face interaction with the owners or adult staff. Overall, we would stay there again and give it bonus points for cleanliness.

Very clean and cozy room. All of the women who served us were great. The garden is cute, the house is in a very, very pretty residential area which is quiet while being close to the main sites of the city. I'd say ideally located. Wonderful breakfast, we felt very well taken care of. Special shout-out to Carol!

Beautiful room, great location. Had a lovely overnight during our 2 week UK trip. We stayed in the 4 poster room - bed could have been a little more comfortable (thin mattress, no boxspring), but the room is sweet and the bathroom was nice and modernized with a spacious shower. The location is unbeatable - on a lovely quiet historic street while still being super close to the train station and great walking distance to the center. Self check in was seamless and easy. Would definitely recommend!

Having stayed in and around the Bootham area previously my fiancée and myself had booked into 23 St Mary's for a Thursday night stay and it was faultless. |It is on a very nice street and the building itself is lovely. On arrival the lady was very friendly and helpful, we had arranged to just leave our bags on arrival in York late morning but luckily our room was already ready for us way before the normal check-in time which was very much appreciated. The room itself was very clean and had everything you needed and after checking out we were allowed to leave our bags until we were due to head for our train late afternoon.|A very enjoyable stay, many thanks.|

I've stayed here several times now.|Always a warm welcome when you arrive and nothing is a problem you just need to ask.|All the staff are friendly and helpful.|Rooms are comfy and clean and anything you need is available in the room usually .Or ask and staff sort things promptly no drama's. |Breakfast is cooked to order always hot and tasty,whatever your choice just leave your card in the little basket in hall when you return on an evening.|||Great location whether arriving by car or train/bus and only a couple of mins into the city by foot to enjoy yourself. ||I'll be returning here again later in summer can thoroughly recommend it and it's value for money considering your in the centre of York.||Thanks for a lovely stay yet again Andy🙂
