After more than 7 years as a member at Equinox (specifically - Newport Beach & LA), I recently made the decision to leave due to ongoing HVAC issues, difficulty getting into classes, and what felt like increasingly snobbish behavior. It wasn’t an easy choice after so many years — but I’m genuinely glad I made the change.
A few coworkers encouraged me to try 24 Hour Fitness – Tustin Marketplace. It’s actually a bit farther from me, but it has truly been a kind blessing. My experience at 24 Hour Fitness – Irvine Spectrum unfortunately wasn’t great and I was treated poorly, so I didn’t have high expectations. However, after speaking with the team at the Tustin Marketplace location and giving it a shot, my experience has been completely different — welcoming, diverse, and genuinely enjoyable. I ended up joining month-to-month and couldn’t be happier with that decision.
I especially want to recommend the Modus classes. Eric, Quinn, and Jennifer were incredibly welcoming and encouraged me to try it — and honestly, it’s 100% worth the additional monthly fee. It’s a solid, well-structured workout, the space is clean, the instruction is excellent, and the environment feels far more inclusive and supportive than the majority of classes I experienced before.
The front desk staff are consistently kind and helpful. The gym is usually packed, but it doesn’t bother me because the overall vibe is positive and the community feels diverse and down-to-earth. For now, it’s absolutely worth the drive, and I’ve truly been enjoying my workouts again.
If you’re considering making a change or trying something new — give this location a shot. You might be pleasantly surprised like I was ❤️
