24 Royal Terrace Hotel

We stayed in this fantastic hotel for a couple of nights in mid November. We have been to Edinburgh numerous times but this is the first time we have stayed here and it will now be our go to in Edinburgh. Everything about the hotel is great from the amazing staff who look after you so well to the fabulous huge breakfasts which are the best we have had in any hotel!! The rooms are very individual and have beautiful glass chandeliers . We stayed in room 7 which was lovely and had everything you could want for your stay here. The staff make this hotel well done we will be back as soon as we can!

I don’t usually find myself motivated to leave reviews, but our stay at 24 Royal Terrace calls for it.||Nothing but absolutely positive things to say about this special little place atop Edinburgh. ||From the moment we entered to checkout, staff were kind and welcoming.||The room we stayed in blew us away. What a gorgeous, grand experience in itself.||That goes for the rest of the hotel too. Adorned with some incredible original artwork from top to bottom, you are literally staying in an art gallery here.||Location was perfect, with a lovely short walk to arrive to the center of town. Just enough separation though for some peace and quiet.||And the breakfast… easily one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. Do not skip it!||Thanks again for everything guys, hope to see you again soon.

I have stayed here several times and always find it a pleasure. The staff are quietly attenti ve, the rooms are comfortable and well appointed..it’s very quiet, but at same time close to centre and no more than 15 mins walk to the station. Bus and tram stops nearby and loads of restaurants and cafés on Leith Walk or Broughton St. The Omni centre and portrait gallery also close, and a large independent bookshop at the end of the terrace. The hotel has a small bar and serves excellent breakfast there.

Can’t beat this place. The whisky tasting was absolutely legendary and set a really high bar for our whole trip. Location is great with only a 5 minute walk to Calton hill. The staff is extremely friendly, accommodating, and personable. The facility is clean, neat, and in good condition. The food was very delicious. My wife loved the porridge and I thoroughly enjoyed my first full Scottish breakfast. We also had the eggs Benedict and they were top notch. It’s a historic building so no elevator. Street parking is available but you may need to park 5 minutes down the road in a parking structure depending on timing.

We have just returned back home from a 3-night long weekend here and honestly, this hotel gets it right on every level. It’s got that rare mix of personality and comfort, loads of art, loads of character and a proper boutique feel without trying too hard. Our room was spotless and comfortable, with a bed that actually lets you sleep properly. Everything felt well looked-after and the small touches made a difference, good toiletries, thoughtful details and a general sense that someone has taken pride in the place. The team were fantastic throughout the entire stay. Friendly, easy to talk to and genuinely helpful without ever being over the top. You feel looked after without feeling fussed over. Breakfast was excellent, generous portions, cooked well and a nice relaxed way to start the day. If you’re into your whisky, the lounge is worth a visit too; they clearly know what they’re talking about. A special mention to Peter, who was on duty when we got back in the evenings. He made the bar feel like our own little hideout, great drinks, great conversation and somehow the hours just disappeared. Top bloke and a real asset to the place Location is spot on. It’s a short walk to Calton Hill and close enough to wander into the city, but the street itself stays quiet enough for a proper night’s sleep. It’s an older building that’s all part of its charm. All in all, a brilliant stay. Zero complaints and definitely somewhere we would return to without hesitation.

This hotel is in a row of townhouses on a quieter street not far from many sites in Edinburgh. We did not partake in the breakfast so cannot comment on that but instead took the opportunity to walk to local coffee shops for a lighter breakfast along our sightseeing route. The hotel staff was very attentive and kind. The entire hotel and our room was well decorated with an eclectic mix of artwork that we enjoyed. The only negative was the lack of elevator/lift. There were 4 or 5 flights of stairs leading up to our room which was on the top floor so the climb up the steps after a day of walking around Edinburgh was a little much. However, we would still recommend this hotel for it's location, value and amenities.

It always feels like a personal experience here. This is my 5th time staying over the last few years. Always very comfortable and clean, with every room feeling individual and luxurious. Reliably delicious breakfasts and a fine whisky selection too. 5min from the top of Leith Walk, and 15min walk from Waverley Station.

Just arrived home after spending 3 nights here. A fantastic hotel, the whole team were an absolute pleasure. The art work that adornes the walls is captivating. Our evenings were interesting talking the nights away with Peter. Highly recommended if you are looking for a true little gem of a hotel, breakfast is soooooo good as well 10/10

This is a Royal gem...fantastic Art boutique hotel..walking distance to everywhere no need for taxi. Breakfast amazing and cocktail nightcap. Loved it!

Wonderful experience tonight at RT's bar at 24 Royal Terrace. The atmosphere at RT's was spot on with the perfect music (light & a little jazzy), perfect lighting and modern furnishings. We felt right at ease the moment we walked in. Our bar master, Robbey, effortlessly made suggestions that matched our tastes. We wanted a light accompaniment, so we chose smoked fishes and a cheese board. The caramelized onions on the cheese board were perfection. Robbey presented everything beautifully and answered our questions about local sights and dining. Later, when we asked about a drink he had prepared for another customer he was able to tell us all about it and even what year the drink was invented. If you want to go somewhere for professionally prepared drinks and relaxed surroundings, give 24 Royal Terrace a try. You won't be disappointed.

We loved this hotel! I honestly want to go back just to stay here again. The staff was unbelievable...from making it easy to leave our luggage prior to check in; to helping us with info on local sites, we always felt like they were going above and beyond. We stayed in one of the apartments, and it was perfect for our family of three. It had a great kitchenette that we did not make use of, but would be great for someone on a longer stay. We loved the decor and the bed was incredibly comfortable. I am a sucker for good hotel toiletries and this one completely hit it out of the park. Extra touches are so hard to come by these days, this place does it just right. Thanks for a great stay!

This is a really cute tiny Hotel about 20 minutes walk from Edinburgh City Centre. The staff is amazing and caring. RT Bar is great, delicious breakfast served there, worth the £9. The bartender from Bulgaria is entertaining and very interesting. The room was tiny (see below), but with lots of upscale touches inc. huge sat. TV, heated towel bar, stc. A couple of negatives. Nowhere on my reservation did it say there wasn't a lift. Thank goodness, I was only on the 2nd floor and the nice receptionist helped me with my crazy heavy baggage. The room I had was teensy- weensy-- it's worth getting a larger room even if you are alone. The room was the smallest I've ever stayed in, including hotels in New York! A final big negative for me--and it has nothing to do with the hotel--was that the RT is a 20 minutes walk from Edinburg Center, as noted above. There doesn't seem to be much around the hotel itself unfortunately and I felt a little out of it. If I were a romantic honeymoon couple, I might have been much happier away from the hustle-bustle. As it was however I like to be a little closer to the action when I'm traveling solo.
