Yelp
Le KGB feels very California to me. Light, airy and friendly. The art on the walls is colorful and cheery. The staff is friendly and quite welcoming. And of course, there are Asian touches found throughout the cuisine like lemongrass, dashi broth, coconut milk.
Very global clientele.
The tasting menu is wonderful and innovative, but I wish you didn't get 5 courses at once. Although it makes for a "strong" opening, the "end" comes abruptly. Here are your two desserts, the end, which arrive together. I actually preferred the dessert of the 8 course instead of the 10 course menu -- looking at what my neighbors had. The difference between the 8 and 10 is an extra dessert, and a pasta dish.
My favorite dishes from the tasting menu include the first 5 courses and squid pasta. The cod tasted mushy the whole way through, a texture commonly achieved through sous vide which admittedly is not my favorite. The wild boar was too chewy and tough. I found it inedible, so my friend ate it.
Every dish is artistically plated, as you can see from the photographs.
Although the food was superb, unfortunately everyone was still hungry when the check arrived.
