Botanical Garden of University of Bern

Charming place, well kept. Usually pretty quiet. You need to be well on your feet as there are lots of up and downs.

This place is one of the hidden gems in Bern. It is seldom mentioned on tourist attraction websites. You will see locals wandering the medicinal plant and the herb areas, students having a picnic lunch and of course a lot of resident lizards and insects enjoying the lush vegetation. All the plants are very well labelled with botanical information, you never have to wonder what you are looking at. I will return to the Universität Bern Botanical Gardens every time I visit or pass Bern since it is only 5 minutes walk from the main station.

A nice place to stay in the nature if you don't want to go far. Special flowers, smells, insects, cool tiny paths make this garden a, special place

Quite different to other botanical gardens I've been to, in that it's not extensive grounds with big trees. But it has a huge variety of herbs and plants, all labelled. And there's also a green house there. I really enjoyed it - you can meander down the terraces of plants all the way to the river. I then walked to the Bern Rose garden along the river, which was just sparkling in the sun!

Nice gardens to wander around with a tropical plan house. Parts of the tropical house are a bit ratty, but the outside is lovely. Entrance is free, so that's a bonus.

Very pretty with a selection of plants, some parts need a little updating and could do with more sculptures, but still nice

Pretty decent open botanical garden by the University of Bern; perhaps it was the time of year (June) but it wasn't one of the best we've been too, and perhaps the reason being it was free. There's plenty of layers to the gardens, each leading towards river Aare.
