278 South

This bar and grill is relatively close to our house but we rarely go there even though we've lived near there for almost 20 years. The name has changed a few times but I've never had good service there. They have always, however, have had top-notch bands playing there and last night was no different so major props to "The Wandering Willows Band". Me and my wife got there early and paid the $20 cover charge (we don't mind that, we love to support the hard working bands). It wasn't busy when we fist got there so we ordered our drinks, I ordered an "Irish Car Bomb" and my wife ordered a "Long Island Iced Tea". For the record my wife loved both of her drinks, however when my first drink arrived it left me scratching my head. As you can see in the photo the shot glass seems okay but the beer portion didn't even make the halfway mark in the cup and the waitress promptly left our table before asking us how our drinks looked. Like I said before it was still early and it wasn't that busy yet but even so I had to flag down another waitress to ask her if they got my drink made correctly and in my disbelief she agreed that the bartender made it correctly. By the time I finished my drink the band started playing and the place started getting crowded so I decided to get a pitcher of beer so I wouldn't have to wait long in between drinks since the service was slow. I ordered a pitcher of Yuengling beer and after several minutes of waiting our waitress brought me a half pitcher of beer explaining that they had run out of that beer and that they would not charge me for a full one. She promptly left our table before I could ask her my options, I guess she assumed that's how I wanted it handled. Now I'm a pretty easy guy to talk to, I've worked in restaurant business before and know circumstances happen. It's what you do as a server/bartender/manager or owner to make up for problems to bring that customer back in after a bad service for us to leave a good tip, or spread a good word about their establishment. In this case we didn't and so we promptly left.

Update: bingo brought them in, and house was packed and the grill was very slow. I ate my wings before my wife got her burger, which she decided to take it home. Waitress was polite, and gave a discount nod to the wait, greatly appreciated. 8 wings were tasty but very little meat. Will order something else next time. Draft beer was in a plastic cup, im getting old and set in my ways and much prefer a glass for a cold beer to a plastic cup. I've had 2 really good meals here.

This is a really cool sports bar biker bar / fun bar it's entertaining and always comfortably busy for years so that means they're doing something right! The food is really really good. Even during busy times to stop always keeps it cool and delivers and provides great service. Fish and chips are good lemon pepper wings are good white variety of adult beverages. Large enough if you wanted to have enough fit for a special occasion you could. Lots of TVs for sporting events just an all-around cool place.

We love 278 South and eat here atleast twice a week. The food and drinks are excellent. The wait-staff are amazing especially Michelle who seems to be able to read minds.

Dined here today for the first time for their “Mother’s Day” menu promotion. Horrible service, too many people were there. We were told after checking on an update on our order after 30 mins there were only 2 servers in the entire place. We had to wait on our food for an hour. Food was cold. We had guests in town with us. Our server never came to check on us while we were waiting on our food. No drink refills. We had to finally get up to ask someone. They should have had more servers knowing it would be more crowded with them promoting a special menu for Mother's Day. We will not be going back there again.

Service was fast and friendly. We had the appetizer platter and it was a solid amount of food. The best thing on there was the chicken tenders. Prices on drinks was great and the food prices were reasonable.

I have been going to 278 South for a few years now and I have always had exceptional service, especially from Hannah. She is my go-to server, no matter if she's serving tables or behind the bar. She goes above and beyond to make sure my order is correct and when making drinks she remembers what my drink of choice is every time I go in. I have never had a bad meal there and the BLT is my all-time favorite! Great food! Great service! Great bands!

My husband and I often get food from here usually with no issues, but recently it’s been the opposite. I don’t understand how hard is it to make a plain sandwich with NOTHING on it. It’s starting to seem as if they’re doing this on purpose because we’re black. My husband may still eat from here but I will no longer be.

The best wings and soft pretzels around!!!!! Their brunch menu is awesome too! Love their steak nights and wing nights! I also love that they have monthly specials!

Good bar food - especially the burgers. Great service! Great place to meet friends. We attended a birthday party there and they never missed a beat.

I met some coworkers here for a drink and dinner. It was a big group, but it probably took me 20-30 minutes to catch the servers attention to order a drink. By the time I got there, some of my coworkers had already eaten one had the patty melt and said it was mediocre, another had wings and said they were just OK, another had ranch with his wings and stated he couldn't tell if it was ranch or blue cheese. This left me struggling to figure out what to eat. I got chicken tenders, tossed in buffalo with ranch. They were totally fine. Actually, better than just fine - I could tell it was really chicken and the ranch tasted like ranch to me. The inside does smell like 2 things - smoke and grease. If you dyed hair, you should definitely plan on taking a shower when you get home. My clothes smelled pretty bad and went directly into the washer. But the inside is definitely an improvement from when this was the Phoenix! Wait staff was kind of slow. I waited to order my first drink, I waited over 30 minutes to get my check. it was all fine because it was a group and a social setting, but I really was ready to get my check by the time. It finally came out. I will say our staff was very friendly, even though the service was very slow. I'm rating it three stars because it was fine. It is definitely not a fancy place so don't go here if you were looking for that, but if you are looking for a bar, and bar food, this might be the spot for you.

Big fan of this local dive bar with pretty good food. I first noticed this place when there was a news story a few months back about a patron who drive through the wall and then tried to shoot people. No shootings or truck accidents during our visits so far but we are always hopeful. This is a bar first and a restaurant second, but the menu is fairly large and they offer the usual mix of bar/pub choices: burgers, wings, nachos, cheesesteaks. The ranch burger is a favorite and comes with a fried green tomato on it. Noise level is high. Cement floors and it smells like a bar. I wouldn't bring small children or plan a family event here. The restroom is what you would expect at a dive bar. This place will never make 5 stars, but a solid 4 and when you need a dive bar this is a great choice.

We had the smash burgers, they were good. Although I was ready for a nap soon after! Service was good as well

Enjoyed our first visit to 278. Was confused by the drink prices but then it's 2022 and everything pricing is Wickie wack. The wedge salad was awesome but I'd recommend pulling the bitter center before serving. The lettuce was ample enough without that part. Lovely bacon on both salad and garnished on my Bloody Mary. Wednesday's are half priced smashburgers and hubby loved them. The side is included so that's an awesome inexpensive date night (except I rather a green salad lol). It was live acoustic music and the gentleman singing did a fantastic job of mixing up the songs to fit his voice and he has a great range. The bloody Mary's were yummy but I like a garnish with a salty taste to add so either pickled Okra or a green olive makes me happy. Fried pickles for appetizer was a good visit back to our old favorite starter. All in all an under $50 date night keeps the banker happy. We will visit again!

I'm from out of state and like always when I travel, I've got to find at least one local bar to check out. The food was delicious, the live music was awesome. Idk if I'll ever be back in this area, but if I am I'll definitely make this a stop. Our server was very sweet.

I'm currently writing this review while I've been sitting here waiting on not just my food but my APPETIZER also for over an hour and a half. This is absolutely ridiculous I'm to the point where I'm so hungry that I'm not even hungry anymore. Don't waste your time or money here.

Food wasn't bad but took 50 minutes to get my plate and then my partner got his around 10 min later. We had to wait an additional 10 min or so for a side of frys that we ordered. Bathroom was pretty dirty and the server was nowhere to be seen almost the whole time. I was excited to try this place but was ultimately let down by the poor service and long wait times.

The service was great and timely. The food was fantastic, was one of the best hamburger we had ever eaten. Highly recommend the food. The service has great. The atmosphere was great with live music.

It is what it is. Burgers. Beer. Bikers. We, a good friend, went for the south burger. Described as a smashed patty with all the regular fixings. I was expecting five guys/steak n shake esq. type burgers. They were more free hand form patties. Like you would make at home. They took on a charcoal biscuit shape. Waitress did ask if we wanted it cooked or pink. I guess I forgot to say pink, because our burgers both came out well done. Decent. Fresh and tasty. Opted for tater tots and coleslaw. They were both OK. Nothing to crave. The state was our appetizer. Fried spicy rock shrimp with a honey drizzle. A must get. I'll try their poo-boy next time. There is a wonderful amount of beer and cocktails on draft. Tried 3 and enjoyed the mango/straw/vodka the most. The place is set up for a night life party. Full band stage. Lots of seating. Go. Eat. Support local. Shout out to the ex-professional cheerleader waitress/bartender. You handled a rush and your bar patrons with the ease and grace.

The food is great. The weight staff is great. Everything is great! It is a decent family bar if there's such a thing. The specials are pretty amazing. We try to go there at least once every couple weeks.

Once again a really good experience. Had a Smash Mouth burger and the mashed potato poppers on the side. Wednesday evening. Not too busy but full. Clean atmosphere. Friendly people. Live music. Perfectly cooked burger to order and the mashed potato poppers can be a meal of their own.

We liked our food both times we've been to 278 South. The burgers were great, my wife liked the Philly Cheese The absolute best thing we had was the shrimp.

The server who took our drink order was nice but the server who brought our food had a whole attitude. She slammed our food down and walked off. The wings and fried green tomatoes were awful. Definitely won't be back!!!!

The Chicken and waffles are amazing. The Philly cheese steak sandwich is the best I've tasted in Georgia. The service is top notch. The atmosphere is great, we just discovered this place a few weeks ago and I intend to come back a lot more.

Just recently relocated to Dallas Ga from Northern Virginia. I love this place. Everyone is so friendly from the customers to the employees. The food is great and the prices are even better. I'm a fan.

It has live entertainment, great food, drinks, great service except don't go there between 7 and 9 pm Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. The kitchen is always closed. I guess they shut down the kitchen when everyone is traveling home from work and can't get anything to eat there between those times. My wife and I came in there several times after 8 pm when she would get off Monday's, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and the kitchen was closed and we left. But management always says it should be open till at least 9 pm weekdays but it's not.

This place should be condemned, it is loud and nasty and I was afraid to even use the restroom for fear of catching a disease the staff was rude and service is so slow it was over an hour to get our food. In town on business and this place was closest to our hotel,, WON'T BE BACK!

I would have liked to rate the food but I never made it that far. Walked in sat at the bar ordered a beer and asked for a menu never spoke to a server/bartender again. I had to yell/wave down a server to pay for my beer. Went next door to The Station and had my beer AND food in 10 minutes. Both places had about the same amount of patrons. It was nice inside but very sterile, it had no personality. Good Luck!

Cell service here is pretty much dead. That really sucks when you dine by yourself most of the time. I have yet to explore most of the menu, but they have excellent burgers. The fries are adequate. Sometimes they're on point and other times they are undercooked, yuck. The service is friendly and at a moderate speed. Most of the time there is plenty of room. The place is clean, but dingy.

A month ago I would have given a much higher review. But after our last Thursday night (which was a weekly visit with friends because it was FORMERLY .50 wing night). Now its 16.99 all you can eat wing night! BUT HERES THE CATCH! (BUT WAIT THERES MORE) you can only order 10 wings and you have to be mostly done with those before you can then only order 5 wings more at a time. Hahaha well, the waitress Sarah (who was one of their better waitresses), knew your drink order before you asked, made sure you always had drinks and was very attentive, is now a food runner and the service has became shameful. Getting anything was like pulling teeth on a crocodile. And I am not just basing this review on my Thursday nights, no I've gone for brunches, date nights with my husband. The last several times we have been it has just gotten awful! We loved this place. This place is going to lose so much money taking away wing night, i know we are not the only upset customers! And not only that my husband's company has had some gatherings here, but that is not happening anymore. Best of luck to the owners and all that remain here, but you have lost my business and alot of money. Unfortunate because i loved the drinks and wings

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday in search of a good patty melt. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who let us know we could sit anywhere and then came over and told us the special of the day. We asked what menu items she preferred and she gave us two or three of her faves. She admitted to not trying the patty melt but pointed over to a regular patron and explained he orders it every time and loves it. It comes with a tomato aoili spread and when I said I prefer thousand island she happily substituted. The patty melt was cooked perfect, came with ample cheese/grilled onions and was served on toasted and then grilled marble rye. Fantastic. Side of fries were lightly seasoned and crisp, just like we like the. We also ordered pepper Jack cheese balls which were cooked perfectly. The restaurant was clean with indoor and outdoor seating. Restrooms were clean. Thought it was odd there wasn't an entry door but that won't deter me from coming back.

Food wasn't that great. The waitress was attentive but seemed to be overwhelmed and understaffed. The bartender was terrible. I was missing half of my bloody, when the waitress brought it. Zero garnish like I wouldn't notice. Kinda sad because a friend recommended the place because of the bloody Mary's, but it was an overall disappointment.

I mean this place is super chill, don't get me wrong. The food however, not chill. I ordered the 278 South Dip Appetizer and I mean it was good, but it comes with shrimp and chicken and there were only two small shrimp in the bowl. I also ordered the chicken salad croissant and the bread had WAY TOO MUCH GARLIC ON IT. You couldn't even taste the chicken salad itself. The brownie a la mode however was DELICIOUS AF!! So gooey and thick.

I had been seeing some chatter about 278 South and several posts about how good their food was. My wife and I decided on Saturday to order food to go. Our waitress, Meghan, was helpful in pointing out her favorites. I chose the country fried steak and my wife got the appetizer sampler. After quite some time, Meghan offered me a free drink as my order had already taken 30 minutes. In total, it took about 49 minutes for our food to be ready. The food was frustrating. When I got home, I discovered that my country fried steak was dry and didn't have brown gravy as I had requested. Who wants two dry pieces of country fried steak? I called up there and spoke to someone and recited my order to her. She told me that the reason that I didn't get brown gravy was because they were out of it. Nobody had told me that. Had someone told me, I would have taken White gravy. After she spoke to the manager, they offered half off another meal. I ended up feeding the food to my dogs as it was dry.

This local bar is a breath of fresh air!! Enjoyed the evening with friends to support Hunter Flanaghan this past Wednesday. Brittany was our server and everyone was very pleased at the attention to detail she gave each one of us. The food was delicious...we had the usual mid-week night out menu...wings, fried pickles, fries & beer......speaking of beer. If you are a fan of Black & Tan's, look no further!!!! Its hard finding a place that has a well made Black & Tan and I found ...the BEST in Hiram!!! Ww will be back soon...and that's a promise!!

We went a couple of times. Food was good. Service isn't the best. We came in before this couple and they got served before us. The first time we went we had glasses and the second time we had plastic cups‍ prices are reasonable

I have eaten most things on their menu. The food is delicious. The feature real mashed potatoes, and made from scratch southern favorites. They have large potions of made to order food that is hot and freshly cooked. The burgers are huge. Dr George Tomes

Mary and Renee are the best!! It's the " Cheers" of Dallas GA!! And NO smelly postman named CLIFF We're alll so greatful to have this local place to call home for all us Misfit Toys !! Yuppers!!!

What a good find in Dallas/Hiram GA. Really nice people and I enjoyed my food and drink a bunch. Now I want to go back to see some of the live music they feature here. Would recommend and I will return for another visit.

Buffalo cauliflower bites were really good- I ordered the medium & that was still super spicy! The portobello sandwich was on regular bread & just so so- I think it needed a good dipping sauce. The cheese dip was good, as expected & had pretty big chunks of chicken & shrimp in it. My husband got the smash burger- which just means it's thinner like steak & shake- with fries which were good as well- bigger & soft. It's mostly "bar atmosphere," but I went pregnant for the food and had a nice quick dinner; there are no booths. We had excellent & quick service & all the girls worked well together- waitress, food runner, another waitress took our bill for us, etc. I'm giving 278 South 5 stars- the interior is beautiful & has a ton of TVs.

Disappointed the the bar back was eating his lunch behind the bar. Eating and then handing glasses without washing his hands. This is how Covid spreads

I have been here many times. service has always been GREAT, food was good. I was embarrassed that I brought my future mother in law here and one of the "owners" was unbelievably belligerent and rude. She shut the heaters off on the patio (that our waitress turned on) because "it wasn't that cold" and continued to be vulgar. The waitstaff reassured me that it was because "she (the owner) had been drinking", but I will not be returning to this establishment as I am embarrassed of how unprofessional the "owner" was. Such a disappointment to an establishment that could have been one of my new favorite places in town.

Cool spit, friendly staff, cheap drinks, yummy food. So happy to have them in the neighborhood, keep up the good work

So I'm from Indianapolis and Im here in Dallas visiting my sister. Decided to try a burger from this joint and I'm glad I did! I just got the regular burger but added bacon and jalapenos (i like spicy!!) and it was frigging awesome! Juicy, full of flavor and just plain ol' good! Would I get another? Why, hell yes!

I love this establishment! Staff is so kind. Owners are usually around and very friendly. Food is amazing! Sunday brunch is a local favorite!

Service and food was excellent. Started with a huge pretzel it was a meal in itself. then the best patty melt I've had. Totally recomend.

Waited nearly two hours for food and the bar tender only came by once to see if we wanted drinks.

I really was excited about having a decent place to go for a bite without having to go to Cobb County. We came in on Saturday about 5:30. It has a really cool vibe going for it. We got a high top table and ordered from the expansive craft beer selection and very decent mixed drink selection. We ordered Hiram 278 Chess dip for starters. The dip was awesome. I would recommend a better way to keep the chips so they don't go stale though. We then moved on to wings and fries. Oh my gosh. Those wing were so good! Nice and crispy. LOVED THEM! Karen was our waitress and was very sweet and attentive. I'm hoping they are here to stay. I loved the fact they were no smoking. I would like to be able to enjoy the outside area also if that was also no smoking. I would, however, go back again and would (and did) recommend it to friends.

Been here 2x. Really good beer selection for hiram and good prices on the not so normal brews. Really good burgers. Would prefer shoenstring fries...but thats a personal opinion. They could really step this place up to be more gastro, but I get it. Hiram....big risk.

I really really wanted to like this place but I am giving 2 stars as the service was poor. Waitress was unfriendly, not responsive and it was frustrating. Burger and fries were good but wings were over cooked. Live music was good but it wasn't worth it overall. Will try again but will sit at the bar and hope for better service

The food here is great! The wings and shrimp po'boy are excellent. Now that Lent is beginning, I will be visiting more often...

Been several times for dinner and music. Always enjoy ourselves. Had Sun Brunch this week. Fantastic. Eggs were perfectly cooked. Biscuit and Gravy just like my Grandmother made. Home fries were favorable and fresh. Service was outstanding. Will have to visit for Brunch again soon.

This place is not really about the food. It's more about the beer choices and people. The wings are the worst ever! There are so many craft beer choices and live music on Saturday nights that it's crazy. I love the music and beer options. The waitresses are OMG! They are better than Hooter girls.

I really wanted to like this spot - the beer was cold and it wasn't a chain. However, after waiting over 30 minutes for our meal, we just got the beer tab and left. The girls were super nice and I get they were short handed; however, we were there before two other tables who were enjoying their meals. I appreciate they wanted to prepare it to go, but we had lost our appetites

Been twice. Once at lunch and again on a Friday night. Really enjoyed the service and food... Dj was also awesome along with the staff at the door... everyone was very friendly and prompt. Will definitely go again.
