Yelp
Always my go-to ramen place when I'm craving for one. Tonkatsu Ramen Black and chicken karaage all the way! The staff are very friendly and service is quick. Plenty of parking around the place near Target. Place is spacious.

Yelp
Not sure where to even begin bc I love this spot, but not only were they waaay off, amiss as well! 2 friends grabbing ramen; 2 grab there's before the 3rd with no consolation whatsoever, and not far off by a couple minutes, I had to wait 10 minutes before my Ramen was received, and artist point, it was just absolutely awkward for everyone! 2 Ramen's received couldn't be enjoyed to do not having the third party enjoy theirs (brought up multiple times, no manager in sight) and with all of that, not only did they NOT get enjoy theirs, but Byrne time my Ramen came theirs was cold! Wasn't expecting anything overall, but this is a major breach of protocol, and not even having a manager stop by and converse about situation makes it THAT much worse, the none acknowledgment factor played the role in me never stepping foot into this establishment again! Mistakes happen, that's understandable, but this was just horrendous to say the least .. With no managers supervisor, nor any acknowledgement of hiccup, and not even trying to correct to the situation, we still got a full bill, so it was paid, 10% tip, and since we barely even touched our food getting it to go and leaving everything behind was hopefully picked up as a symbolic gesture .. Ballston location is better in each and every way.

Yelp
Hoping for Better Next Time Disappointed with the service today. When we entered, there was a strong sewer-like smell between the two entrance doors -- very off-putting. I ordered the Tan Tan Men (which is not supposed to be spicy), but it came out extremely spicy -- even my husband was sweating. Our server never checked on us until we had to call her just to get more water. I spoke with the manager, who was kind and offered a half-off discount, but when the bill came (from a bartender, oddly), the discount wasn't applied. No explanation. As we left, none of the staff at the front even said goodbye -- it felt cold and dismissive. We've enjoyed Jinya before and may return, but I really hope to see improvement in both service and attentiveness.

Yelp
Arrived a rainy Saturday afternoon. First time guest we called and told them we were coming with 6 people. When we arrive we're seated pretty quickly although the restaurant had customers it wasn't super busy. I would describe the ambiance as open, dark and modern. Had interactions with 3 waitstaff all were pleasant, but not especially engaging. The food choices were many and after our group received our orders we were largely unimpressed. The ramen we received was technically ramen but the broth in none of our dishes were especially rich, complex, nor spicy. In fact, several college students eating at our table described their dishes as tasting like ramen bowls they made at school when they added too much water. While no one was angry our table of 6 left much of our dishes uneaten. No one asked to take the food home and no one is interested in returning.

Yelp
A nice return visit! Food and service is always great. Staff attentive and they remember you! The upstairs bar is wonderful! So glad we took Pablo's suggestion! A great bartender!

Yelp
The food here was amazing!! Very authentic & the flavors stood out, especially for the Takoyaki balls!!! We sat inside and our server was amazing but definitely want to try the patio next time as it looked nice! Will definitely be going back for more!

Yelp
Jinya has come a long way and really revamped their menu, great hearty meaty and vegetarian options! The limited-time lunch deal over the spring/summer with ramen and tapas was fantastic ($24 for meat and $26 for vegan) There was a generous serving of vegan tapas - 3 dumplings filled with impossible burger, 1/2 dozen pieces of veggie tempura, and crispy veggie taco stuffed with impossible burger (my favorite tapas)! The taco tasted like a crispy empanada. The $2 upcharge for the vegan tapas was well worth it. The new vegetarian Tsunami White Pearl was perfectly balanced with a flavorful broth with a meaty Impossible burger and a heap of veggies with broccolini, spinach, and a strong dose of both green and red onions. The Flying Vegan Harvest is savory and quite tasty with meaty Impossible burger, soft tofu, and a heap of veggies with broccolini and corn. The chili oil has a spicy kick! I requested it without the oil, which was mild and perfect. I really enjoy the kale noodles and prefer them over the thick noodles, healthier and tastier option! In the past, I've had some issues with removing or substituting toppings, but my request for no chili oil was kindly accommodated during my latest visit. The Mangolicious cocktail had a boozy kick with a heavy pour of Suntory Toki Whisky with a subtle mango flavor. Lycheetini cocktail is my pick! The fresh Watermelon juice is refreshing! Looking forward to coming back for some warm vegan ramen!

Yelp
I had a pretty positive experience at this Jinya location. I wanted to sit outside and the hostess actually made this great accommodation at a large table just to make us happy when she didn't have to. Ordered the fried Brussel sprouts, jinya buns and tonkotsu spicy ramen. I was happy with how everything turned out. The brussel sprouts just needed a bit more salt in my opinion but I was too full to eat a lot of it so I took it home. Overall pretty happy with dinner on this one. What's interesting is that all the akira locations have somewhat of a different menu at each place. Mosaic district has always been consistently good to me though.

Yelp
I've dined here plenty of times, and it's always been sub-par even when they had their older location-- so since they opened. Sat at the bar w/ 3 other coworkers and it was just absolutely dreadful having to deal with this particular bartender (Deja), not the first time sitting at the bar, but first (and last) sitting at bar since we've always gotten a table, we decided wanted to be in and out

Yelp
Thomas is absolutely incredible. Jinya already has great food and atmosphere, but his fantastic service put the experience over the top. Thank you, Thomas!
google avatar

Jacqueline C.

Yelp
What can I say? Everything about this place is perfection, from the decor to the service and especially the food! Thomas, the bartender there, is amazing! Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable! Always has great recommendations! I frequent this place so much so that he's memorized my order and all I have to do is wait for my food to come out. Anytime I have family come in from out of town, I take them to this place. Could not ask for a better restaurant than this!

Yelp
Recently found this place and thought it was pretty great! Love that they have vegan options (which you can make vegetarian by adding a seasoned egg as a topping). Noodles are thick, chewy, and have a great flavor! The green tea mochi ice cream is a great way to finish off a spicy bowl of ramen. I'd come back!
google avatar

Yelp
The no longer serve the Spicy Umami Miso Ramen here which is their best tasting ramen in my opinion. Really no other reason to come here.
google avatar

Yelp
Unlike other Jinya locations we've been to, this one has outdoor seating, which is always a nice option, especially when hanging out with friends or family. The atmosphere here is consistently pleasant and relaxed. The ramen, as usual, was fantastic--this spot remains one of our top picks for ramen in the DMV area. That said, the service was a bit all over the place during our visit. It felt a bit scattered at times, but overall, it didn't take away from the experience too much. Still a great place to enjoy a bowl of ramen!

Yelp
Was excited to try this Ramen place after it was recommended to me and it was good. I liked how the pork inside the ramen was so tender and juicy and the egg was nicely cooked but it didn't stick out to me as much. The portion is nice, not too big not too small. The takoyaki however, I thought it could've been better. Presentation was nice but only a small piece of octopus was inside the batter. Takoyaki is one of my favorites and I'm sure I could get it elsewhere especially for the price. I enjoyed the service, we constantly were being checked on and it was much appreciated.

Yelp
Solid spot for ramen. Broth was rich, noodles cooked just right. Loved the vibe and fast service. Always hits the spot when I'm craving something warm and filling

Yelp
Food - 4.5 Service - 2.5 Ambiance- 4.5 I really liked the food, but the service was lacking. 4 might be too generous. From the moment we got seated, it took about 10 minutes for somebody to come back out (we were on the patio) to acknowledge our presence. I was convinced I would leave 2 stars. But the food is the only redeeming reason I give it 4 stars. Just be ready to be thirsty for a good 10 minutes, and for your order to be taken almost as slow. It was not even a super busy night, a weeknight. Regarding the food, it was really good. The shrimp reminds me of an asian firecracker shrimp, sweet but salty. And the pork in the ramen was really flavorful and soft. I liked the takoyaki a lot too. There's a lot of other items I would love to try, and I would give their service another shot to make it up.

Yelp
Lunch for one. Server and service were great!! Michael was my server. He did a great job answering my many questions and made great menu suggestions. I tried a few new items! All the food was delicious and I had leftovers for dinner...Yay!! The atmosphere is warm and quiet. Tables are a little close but otherwise very nice place to rub elbows with your neighbours. If you need more space request a both instead of a table. Cool place. I always get the flying vegan bowl. It's delicious!!

Yelp
4/7/24 We had an early lunch since we skipped the hotel breakfast. I think they had just opened. We were taken to an "outside" area without asking us: inside or outside. And there weren't any people inside... It's a heated area, so ok, we will roll with it. Hubby wanted hot tea, but they don't have that... um, what kind of Japanese restaurant doesn't offer hot tea?! Hubby got a cold matcha tea, and I got a Hibiscus drink. My Hibiscus was good, but hubby Matcha was not sweetened... Fine, he will stick to water and get a coffee at the hotel, and we moved on to our order. So a min before our food came out, the waitress places a couple with their dog right next to us. Meanwhile, there were plenty of open tables away from us. I'm allergic to dogs. So we asked to move inside when the lady came with our food. That simple request seems to have confounded everyone as they stare at us like we had horns on our head... so we went inside, and it seems many more people had come in since we sat down outside. So we sat down at an empty table amongst all the new customers all chowing down on their food. How did they get their food before us when we were there 1st? Things that make you go hum... That simple act seemed to mean we were no longer going to get service... Saw a man that looked like management stop and talk to the customers around us but he never looked as us and just walked right pass... Anyways when we finished hubby had to get up and walk to someone to get the check so we can pay and leave. Now to the food Tonkatsu Black I'm not sure why this was called black, I didn't see nor smell black garlic. It was just meh Fried Chicken Was actually good Pork Bao Asked for no cucumber but came with it. Good thing it's easy to remove. It was ok, the pork piece was smaller than the bao... I like to think I'm fair and give people a chance because they might be having a bad day. I try to curb my reviews by saying positive things as well as constructive criticism. But this was an awful and awkward situation for us...

Yelp
Great place to get ramen in a pinch, and this one is in a good location because of the surrounding shopping opportunities. Sadly, I think in recent years the quality has gone down and the prices have gone up as Jinya has expanded as a chain. My favorite is the spicy creamy vegan ramen.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for dinner with a few friends, and had such a good time. All our food came out so quickly. The ramen at this Jinya location was much better quality than ramen at other Jinya locations i've been to. This location also has a really nice outdoor patio seating, which was so nice to eat in during the summer. Best part of our experience was our waiter, Ezequiel, he was so fun and made such good conversation with us. Overall, great dinner and great service.

Yelp
I love JINYA's food and have eaten there dozens of times but today was incredibly disappointed at the portion from the Mosaic District location. I ordered food to go as I was in the area running errands. I ordered three orders of the tacos and one order of the impossible rice bowl. The tacos are small to begin with, cost $8 for two, and usually come with enough impossible meat to fill both tacos, but this one barely had enough to fill ONE. That's $24 worth of tacos, and I have 3 remaining shells. The impossible rice bowl was a good portion and tasted fresh and flavorful but it was mostly white rice. Thin layer of chickpeas, purple lettuce, impossible meat, and kale over a HUGE 1-inch layer of white rice. I probably won't come back to this location again, especially since DC now has two locations with two more on the way!

Yelp
definitely hits the spot for a cold rainy day when ramen is the perfect meal. the staff is always friendly and good with checking in on you and getting refills. my go to ramen is the yuzu shio delight with ground pork and i will die for it. rn the chef special is the birria ramen. tbh not really a fan of it. the first few bites were good i love birria tacos but this got sickening and was hard to finish. i dont think consumme broth was like the best. also not a fan of thick noodles so i subbed thin noodles. hopefully they bring back karamen soon that one was incredible

Yelp
I came here with a friend for some ramen, and it was a great decision as this place was great. Food - their tonkotsu black ramen was pretty good, and so was their spicy wonton ramen. My personal favorite was the pork chashu bowl, which was absolutely delicious. Service - Good, friendly Parking - you can park in the nearby parking lots. Overall, this place is great. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
My second time back after 2 weeks. Excellent service. Came with a group of 9 people. Our group was well taken care of. Tried the warm sake for the first time. It was so smooth and went do so easy. Appetizer, had the chicken bun, which was pretty good. Ordered the build your own ramen, chicken broth, thin noodles, added cabbage, scallion, broccoli, marinated bamboo shoot, and chicken wonton. Delish. Others had various ramen and rice bowls and everyone was very satisfied. Perfect on a cold winter night to have a big bowl of ramen noodle soup. I will be back!

Yelp
More like 3.5 overall - 3 for food, 4 for service, 4 for ambiance I've come here twice now and I don't think I'll be back for just ramen. Drinks, sure. But the ramen soup doesn't have the depth in flavor I crave in Japanese ramen. But I set a high bar so don't heed too much here. The original tonkatsu's broth had way too much oil according to my family. The spicy chicken (I got the spiciest level) was good in how spicy it actually was. The ramen noodles were fine. I had kale noodles before and that wasn't great. The soy glazed wings seem to be a new menu item and it was just fine - had a good crisp. Crunchiness was there but it just wasn't a good flavor. The service was par- always came to check on us, refilled water without asking. The only thing was we never got utensils but I just walked up and grabbed them since there was one of those kiosks holding napkins and such. I'm sure it wasn't intentional and I absolutely wouldn't hold that against them. We sat in their outdoor patio area, which is dog friendly. I've sat at the bar before and it had nice decor.

Yelp
7/15/24 Years ago, I remember this restaurant coming to The Mosaic District. A several years later they moved to a bigger space where  Cyclone Anaya's  use to reside.   The Restaurant: Today I wanted to experience what this restaurant is like for my birthday. Yes, I am officially 47 now. My wife ordered the Spicy Ramen Noodles and I went with The Tempura Broccoli and Tempura Shrimp...non spicy.  Yes, it's true, it's true, I dislike spicy food. Our server who's name escapes me at the moment will be known as Mr. J.  Mr. J knows his job very well and was able to take our order from memory. A skill not everyone uses or has.   The restaurant it self is very dark. My wife and I felt the place could use some lightening up. We get the idea of mellow and dark vibe, but the place is very dark.  Also, on this particular day, the restaurant's air conditioning was running scared...okay, poor choice of words. The air conditioning wasn't strong and we could feel the humidity on or skin.   I thought about the staff members who were going to be sweating up a store once business picks up and our stay wouldn't be as long.   Aside from the humidity in the restaurant, I realized, the owner of this restaurant  also owns the restaurant called...Shi Miao Dao Yunnan Rice Noodle. The photo on Jinya's Restaurant is the same photo I saw at Shi Miao Dao Yunnan Rice Noodle. The Food: The Tempura Broccoli and Tempura Shrimp...non spicy,  was delicious.  I did feel a pinch of salt was needed for The Tempura Broccoli and Tempura Shrimp.   Yes, it occurs to me that I should be saying Shrimp Tempura and Broccoli Tempura, but I am leaving what I wrote the way it is.  Why?  Because "We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams" (Thank you Arthur O'Shaughnessy and Wonka). I asked for salt and it took several minutes for the crewmembers to find a salt shaker. The reason for this goes much deeper than just a misplaced salt and pepper shaker. However, we won't get into that. Our server Mr. J. ended up bring me a salt shaker for my food.  I also ordered Chrispy Onions aka Fried Onions with Green Onions on the side. Sprinkling a pinch of salt on these items added the missing element of taste. The idea of dipping the Shrimp Tempura and Broccoli Tempura in Blue Cheese dipping sauce comes to mind, this wasn't an option I did or asked for.  Besides, I  don't expect Jinya Ramen Noodle to carrying Blue Cheese let alone Blue Cheese Sauce.  The chances of this being the case is like The Washington Commander's winning the 2025 Superbowl. Okay, low blow, but if I am wrong, I'll get a Redskins Feather tattooed to my gluteus maximus.  The Bathroom: The Men's bathroom was fairly clean. The bathroom gave off a dark look much like the restaurant itself. The bathroom had that gases from asses smell. There was nothing in that bathroom I saw that could fight that stink.  The bathroom door did not have the foot opener, so one had to use your hand(s)...covered with paper towels or not. I think it would be very good investment to install a foot door opener for the bathrooms.  Not everyone washes their hands and the door handle gets a lot of use. I can't  speak for the ladies bathroom, but I am sure the women would appreciate a foot door opener. Overall, I/We will definitely come back to this restaurant.  I hope when we do, it won't be like a lightly heated rain forest.  I look forward to trying the Chicken Ramen Noodles without the spiciness. Did I mention I do not like spicy food? 4 Stars overall:)

Yelp
What has happened to this place!? How are you going to charge $20 for a bowl of ramen with 1 egg and 2 slices of pork!?
google avatar

Amanda S.

Yelp
I have a lot of vegetarian friends that love Jinya. I used to frequent the one in Logan Circle all the time after work and on the weekends with friends. So when they started popping up all around the DMV it was quite exciting. The one in Fairfax in Mosaic is true to brand. Just like the one in Rockville in the Pike and Rose area it is located on the corner of the square. Is this purposeful? I'm beginning to think so haha. The Jinya brand is solid. Me and a group of girlfriends go here as our place to catch up. Like I said the vegetarian options are solid and you always get what you expect. Fun fact, every time I go with the group of girlfriends who we have catchups with we always order three of the same dish. I feel like this is a testament to how each bowl appeases many different taste pallets. I also wouldn't hesitate to take a group of guys here as well since the portion sizes are decent.

Yelp
Family favorite! This trip was specifically for the Chef's Special Curry Rice Croquettes. I had them at a different location last month and had to bring my son in for them. We miss Japanese curry from our time living there and these are perfection! Would love it if these made their way into the menu year round. We got 3 orders of these for the 4 of us and devoured them. Also had some Jinya buns and ramen. Service was great and the place was clean and we were seated right away on an early Sunday evening. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Tonya D.

Yelp
This is yet another great restaurant in the Mosaic District. Visited on a Sunday. This area is filled with lots of restaurant option, shops and ample parking. The street was blocked off for a farmers market...vegetables, fruit and homemade items. The weather was perfect so we dined outside. Chose Jinya for its many vegetarian options. I tried the Brussels Sprouts Tempura, which satisfied my craving for crispy/crunch without the grease and the Impossible Rice Bowl with a great curry sauce. I'll definitely be back to try another vegetarian option and to enjoy the sights. Definitely worth the drive!!

Staci S.

Yelp
I came here for dinner with some friends. It's a short walk across the street from the Target parking garage. We ended up sitting in their outside patio which was enclosed and had heaters, so it wasn't uncomfortable at all in this cold weather. Some of the things we had included Salmon Poke Mini Taco (2 pcs), Spicy Tuna Tacos (2 pcs), and Crispy Chicken for the appetizers. I had the Tonkotsu Spicy Ramen, which you can adjust the spiciness of. The tacos were good and were stuffed. However my favorite of the appetizers was the Crispy Chicken which was flavorful, moist, and crunchy. The Tonkotsu Spicy Ramen was good, but the spiciness level (spicy=middle) didn't seem that spicy......or perhaps I have leveled up again lol. The only thing I didn't like about my experience was that at some point they turned off the patio heaters so it got cold. There was still an hour before closing. Overall this is a pretty good place to eat if you are in the area.
google avatar

Crystal L.

Yelp
This is for their happy hour menu. Service was excellent. Hh items are limited, the food and drinks tasted delicious. Due to the small portion size, we ordered a bowl of ramen to share. They were eager to get customers join their loyalty program, which was not seen before.
google avatar

Camryn K.

Yelp
This is a very solid ramen place in the NOVA area. I got the JINYA Tonkotsu Original 2010 ramen. It was pretty flavorful, but maybe a tad salty. I like how thick the noodles are, and they were perfectly cooked. The meat was good and very moist, but I wish there was more of it. I liked the egg, but I wish it was cut in half since having it whole made it harder to eat. They serve good quality ramen, but I would say it is a little bit pricey for what you get. The service was pretty good, but I wouldn't say there was anything notable about it. I like the ambiance of the place. There is also plenty of seating. I would definitely come back here in the future!

Yelp
Loved the outdoor seating ! Food was ok , will have to return to try something different

Yelp
Came here to just grab dinner on a Saturday Night, there was a 20 min wait but it's my favorite ramen chain so worth the wait. The servers and the managers were consistently checking on our table even with a packed night. I didn't sit at the bar this time, but the bar is always a great spot to enjoy the game, have a couple of their delicious specialty drinks and great conversation with the bartenders. I'll definitely be back soon!!
google avatar

Lhen C.

Yelp
The place was nice and clean. The Bao was great, the pork was tender and the taste is just right. I order the shrimp Ramen and it was on point. The process on the extra toppings is a bit pricey I think. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice place for ramen lovers. I had the spicy creamy vegan ramen and I liked it. Besides ramen, we ordered shrimp tempura and impossible gyoza - both were good. I would come back for ramen!

Yelp
Jinya is truly thriving in their new space. 1. Location: they moved a few doors in the same building they used to be in. Now it has a bigger outdoor seating area, which is also heated, bigger dining area AND a whiskey bar! 2. Food: great - tonkatsu was great - shrimp dumpling ramen was also great They used to have this thin weird noodles, now they have thick noodles as well as gluten free and kale noodles. 3. Drink: they were able to tweak the cocktail I ordered, so it taste amazing. their cocktails are delicious too. 4. Service: top notch, attentive, polite It is a great spot for a date night, family dinner and/or casual outing. Such a versatile space. Highly recommend Jinya!

Yelp
The Mosaic location is our family's favorite spot. The food always arrives quickly and is delicious. The Tonkotsu Black ramen has consistently tasted great over the years we've been visiting, which is a crucial factor for any restaurant. I greatly appreciate Amy, the manager, for her kindness. She greets us and pays extra attention to customers on top of those servers. Today, I am enjoying a family dinner here for Thanksgiving, and Thomas has provided us with fantastic service.

Yelp
This place has a nice ambiance and good noodles!!! I went in a group of 3. I ordered the shrimp dumplings and made it more spicy even though I didn't think it was. I ordered Sriracha sauce on the side. The chicken was amazing, especially when I dumped in the bowl of noodles! Best bowl of noodles I have had. My husband and his dad both enjoyed their bowl of noodles as well. They are both vegetarian. We will definitely be back soon.
google avatar

Brandon H.

Yelp
Went with the ramen and salad + rice bowl combo. It was good and extremely filling. I was able to substitute the thickness of my noodles too. The gyozas were nicely seared on the outside and soft on the inside. The salad had too much dressing for my liking. Service was attentive. There is a parking structure across from the restaurant where the Target is.

Yelp
Here for business, saw ramen and wanted to give a try. The Jinya Ramen Bar is so delicious!! Great atmosphere, even better ramen! We also had Pork Gyoza and Fried Chicken. I have zero complaints, the food, service and overall restaurant is great! Try this place, it is well worth it!

Yelp
It's one of several restaurants to choose from in the Mosaic District. We tried the combination of Tonkotsu Original 2010 with Pork Gyoza and House Salad as well as the combination of Spicy Tonkotsu with Pork Chashu Bowl and House Salad. The broth of the tonkotsu original was too salty and the broth of the spicy tonkotsu had more flavor. Both of the ramen were decent, but it did not stand out from other ramen restaurants so it is not worth the price to me. The interior has a modern vibe with dim lighting. It is quite spacious with indoor and patio seating. It was not quite busy when we walked in, but they still seated us at a small table when there was a booth available. The service was okay and their staff were somewhat accommodating.

Yelp
This is a nice chill spot with the best Ramen in town. The ambiance, food and service was excellent. My bowl was enough for the next day and I shared some. They give you plenty to eat. I love this place

Yelp
I took my daughter for lunch at Jinya yesterday and the food was amazing as was the service. We had multiple servers check in with us. My daughter ordered the kids meal, which while pricey is huge and would have been more than enough for me as an adult. The kids ramen was good, but much improved with the addition of the Gyoza sauce and seasoning sauce. I ordered a side salad, which was huge. Given how large their portions are, I hardly needed it. The shrimp dumpling ramen was absolutely delicious and not spicy at all. Once I added some seasonings, I got it just right. The noodles and dumplings were clearly fresh and very tasty. The dishes were expensive but for the size, it made sense.

likhitha y.

Yelp
The food was good but there are not many options for people who only eat chicken and shrimp I suggest to check the menu before you visit and go but if you eat pork and beef this is a great catch. We had spicy chicken ramen, chicken salad and honey shrimp those three were great
