"The bounty of the Chesapeake Bay is one of D.C.’s culinary treasures, and there’s arguably no better setting to enjoy its salty gems than waterside at Whaley’s in the Navy Yards district. The seasonal plates play tricks on the taste buds with flavorful accents like the heat of red chilies in the chilled corn soup and the tartness of tomatillos and oranges in the day boat scallop crudo. Select a variety of oysters from up and down the Chesapeake’s eastern and western shores to determine your favorites for a second round—and add a second glass of your new favorite rosé to the order."

Yelp
As a former employee I was super excited to hear that they reopened! I went during a pretty slow time so the bar was ready for me, the service was fast and polite. I wanted to be biased and not have anything bad to sad but I must say I was disappointed that festival is no longer on the menu but ALLL the flavors and true authentic taste is still there. I absolutely love what Bammys has done for the inside, the patio and bar both are appealing and I can't wait to see how the seasons brings for Bammys!

Yelp
The view of the river is so beautiful but the food was even better! We got the jerk wings, Plantains and spicy beef patties. Everything was really delicious, with fantastic flavors and just the right amount of spice. I got a strawberry Long Island ice tea which was great and not too sweet. During happy hour it's on sale for $8. Even though I paid full price it was worth it. The server was very helpful and attentive especially Dre who kept coming back to make sure everything was good. I can't say enough good about this place. Great food! Good drinks! Beautiful location! Great service!

Yelp
BAMMYS is a Caribbean gem that recently underwent a change in leadership. We had the pleasure of attending a private event at the restaurant and were treated to a variety of dishes as compliments from the house. The food at BAMMYS has a wonderful flavor that reminds you of good home cooking. One of their house favorites is the rum punch, which looks amazing with its vibrant color. However, we found it to be a bit too sweet for our taste. Friends mentioned that the Sunday brunch at BAMMYS is a must-try, especially if you enjoy live music and the option to sit outside. It creates a really nice vibe. Overall, BAMMYS is definitely worth a visit for its delicious Caribbean cuisine and enjoyable atmosphere.

Yelp
Wow! What a gem. We had such an enjoyable time at Bammy's. We received knowledgable and quality service from our waiter, Dre. The food was authentic and delicious. The beef patties had the perfect spice. Our party also ordered oxtails and escovitch. The oxtails had great flavor, but we wanted BIGGER portions. The escovitch was one of the best I've had. The rice and peas were well prepared and the side of coconut milk collards were a hit! We also ordered two ginger sorrel mocktails, sweet & tasty. Finally, the vibe was like a beach shack on Hellshire in Kingston. If you know you know, highly recommend.

Food, drinks, and service is GREAT ! I recommend the beef patties , wings and rum punch.

Yelp
Food smelled amazing from the down the street. My friend and I decided to grab dinner and drinks. We decided to sit outside because the weary was great and the views of the water were amazing. The service was impeccable. Our waiter Deandre was all over it with ordering drinks and food. He was very pleasant and kept a smile on his face. He, without a doubt, made our experience enjoyable. Especially since I did not enjoy the food. I ordered the oxtails. They were not very flavorful and they were extremely salty. My friend had the jerk chicken, which she enjoyed and boxed up the leftovers. We ordered rum punch. The first round was ok. But after talking to the waiter and asking for more rum the second round was better. Due to the great service and my friend loving her food, I would visit this place again to try something else in the menu.

Yelp
Me and some friends came in on a Friday evening. Seating: the weather was beautiful and we were able to sit outside 10/10 Service: the service was good. Our server Kia was attentive and kind. 9/10 Food: the food was good. Nothing spectacular in my opinion. One of my friends really enjoyed the cabbage side. I ordered the jerk wings. The menu is small, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. 7.5/10 Value: i do think the food was overpriced. My jerk wings were $16, and i got 6 wings. 5/10 Drinks: i had an old fashioned with Woodford Reserve. It was pretty good. My friends ordered ocean water and strawberry Long Island, and their drinks were STRONG. 10/10 Other: when we were ready to pay we saw there was a 20% service charge. We were told that this is not the tip and that the service charge goes to the owners, the bar staff, then is split between servers. Our server said that if we want to tip her specifically, it would be in addition to the 20% service charge. 4/10 Overall: this establishment has changed management over the years, but it still has a good vibe. I like there is outdoor seating, and food was decent. Im sure I'll be back. There's not many restaurants of its type in the area. 7.58/10

Yelp
I recently visited Bammy's and was thoroughly impressed. The location (Navy Yard) is unbeatable, with picturesque views of the Potomac River. The outdoor seating, though limited to about eight tables, is highly sought after on a sunny day. The service was exceptional-- the wait staff were not only polite but also professional. The food was delicious, making the overall experience truly enjoyable. Highly recommend for a pleasant dining experience with a stunning view.

Yelp
Ok I'm conflicted here; there are not many places that offer whole snappers so off that alone I'm adding an extra star to this review but overall don't come here expecting to get the most amazing trini(ish) food. DC in general is starved of really good Caribbean options (excluding Cane & St James!!!) so I was really excited to try this place. On each visit the food has been cool, again nothing amazing but I'm super glad they have a whole fish option. Definitely could step it up with the seasoning and the price is ridiculous, but I still get it when I need my whole snapper fix. We've also tried the curry shrimp, jerk wings, brown stew chicken, festival, the cabbage and a few other sides, all were good. The inside is clean (love that) but not really aesthetic or instagramish but I loved the outdoor seating right on the water! Service has always been good

Yelp
If you know Caribbean food, proceed with caution - the food here is a bit diluted to suite the taste of the gen pop. I can appreciate the twist of my fav dishes but this is a disclaimer to those that think they're getting the real deal. For starters - the doubles. Edible but cringey if you've had real doubles. Chickpeas have a bite to them and aren't thoroughly curried. Small amount of peppa and chutney. The roti is soggy from the liquid so you're better off using a fork here. I had the breakfast doubles that came with an egg, I respectfully told them to just put that on the side lol Not my favorite rendition of the dish but it was okay for what it is if you're not comparing. The shrimp (or crawfish) was huge! Only 3 but we shared and only ate two. The grits and collards were interesting AF but can turn into a soggy mushy mess if you're not conscious of how you're eating it. So much flavor here and the coconut was profound - I really enjoyed this dish. The oxtail was a bit of a rip off. One piece of oxtail for $18 that tasted like BBQ atop. The festival and Escovich was a bit random to pair with the oxtail but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Then again, I was hungry. I had red strip my date had rum punch. He seemed okay with it but I think I would've wanted some more Wray (If that was even at the bar). Service - now listen, historically you can't expect white glove service at a Jamaican restaurant. Just being honest. Is it nice to have? Yes. But I don't need a chippy waiter at these type of places I'm here for the food. He was pleasant, prompt and attentive but for regular folk it may not give the extra glitter glam sparkles above and beyond if you're expecting that type of business. Would I return? No. But I'd recommend as a "worth the try" restaurant for those in the area.

Yelp
I am truly impressed. The food is excellent. I felt like I was on the islands. The whole vibe gave me a feeling of being on travel. Our server was extremely professional and very attentive. The Mega drinks are amazing. Do not sleep on this hidden treasure.

Yelp
Thanks to Yelp for this perfect find! It was walking distance from my hotel in Navy Yard & im sooo glad because we are soooooo good! Had to walk it off after, LOL! Our server was a cool & funny Nigerian man that was very helpful + attentive. They had great music going from when we walked up and even after we left! It was a beautiful day so we opted to sit outside. Food: 12/10!!! Jerk Wings: We tore it up before we could even get a picture! Sooo good, well sized & full of flavor but not overpowering. Oxtail & Butter Beans: I'm ready to return for this plate! Fall off the bone oxtails Escovitch Red Snapper: This was really good! Cooked very very well, as if it were from the islands. Jerk Pork Belly: this was different but good, and fatty. Collard Greens: 3/10-- not a fan, I think the coconut milk in it threw us off. Drinks: Piña Colada: the most refreshing & perfectly crafted piña colada I've ever had! I know I've said this before about another place but Bammy's is now #1!! Sooooo good my friend said forget her drink and ordered one Pain Killer: Strong but tasty. This is a must when I return to DC!!

Yelp
It isn't the easiest place to find if you haven't walked to the end of the street but man is it worth it! If you enjoy sitting outside and people watching - this is the place for you. We had the nicest server make great drink recommendations. The whole fish was delicious and the potatoes were packed with flavor. 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
Came in for a snack after a Nationals game. Got the jerk wings. They were large and juicy, flavor was decent, a bit on the expensive side for wings but everything is overpriced nowadays. Service was friendly but very slow and they didn't refill my glass of water. A little unprofessional, when I went to the bathroom to wash my hands, the bathroom door was unlocked but a waitress was inside the bathroom doing who knows what and she quickly pushed the door shut. She should probably learn to lock the door in the bathroom at her place of work when she's using it. Overall the wings were decent but did not wow me and the slow service and high prices would probably make me hesitant to return, there are many other options in the area.

Yelp
Great jerk, chicken wings! Great server. Authentic Jamaican food in a laid-back atmosphere by the river.

Yelp
I'm sure this place has potential, but our experience was disappointing. We arrived around 8pm on a Saturday, and many items on the menu were unavailable. The doubles we ordered took an unusually long time to arrive, and despite ordering before a nearby party, they received their entrees and appetizers before we got our one appetizer. The single bartender, who was very friendly, was left to handle the entire bar mostly alone. Her colleagues weren't very helpful. Management should have been more involved, helping with service and ensuring that tables were adequately attended to. We spent a little over a hour there, had one drink each, and ended up leaving with just an appetizer to go, as we had hoped to have dinner but didn't get the chance. On a previous visit, we were seated outside and left after 15 minutes because no one came to at least offer water or take our drink order. As a Trinidadian with a love for West Indian cuisine, it's disappointing, but I don't think we'll be returning anytime soon. The doubles we had were tasty, though, so I'd still recommend them.

Yelp
I can say that I've been to Bammys quite a few times, and I enjoy them. Except for one thing... I want beef patties on the damn menu!!!! Now that I've got that out of my system, I enjoy the atmosphere and the crowd. I typically sit at the bar, and the bartenders are pretty good. I think Luis has become my favorite and it makes me wanna come back. My latest experience was pretty great. The place gave off such great vibes that you can connect with anyone there.... Whether it is first time guests, a person celebrating a birthday or an entrepreneur looking to sell a homemade beverage at this establishment. The atmosphere is everything and enabled me to make the connection that made my heart happy. Speaking of connections.... Even though I was full, I connected to those jerk wings, I connected to my drinks, and I connect with the the festivals. The drinks kept coming, and the bartender even did shots with us. He even sponsored them. The jerk wings were pretty good. The festival was, comprised of fried dough. It almost tasted like a lighter version of a mixture between cornbread and a Johnny cake. The food was good. The service was amazing! The the vibe was exhilarating and the connection was unforgettable. I will be coming back....

Yelp
Bammys was excellent!! Our server Taniah had amazing recommendations. She was incredibly attentive and provided excellent service. I'd recommend evetrhing we ate- the appetizer doubles and chicken wings, the beef stew and curry chicken entrees, and the rum punch and painkiller drinks. They have fair prices and amazing service! New favorite neighborhood spot.

Yelp
I will definitely be back. I finally made it to Bammy's for Sunday brunch and it was absolutely amazing. My friend and I were seated right away at a booth inside (it wasn't very busy during brunch, and we opted for inside because we thought it was going to rain). Our server told us about the specials and offered some advice about dishes on the menu. We opted to sample some dishes to share and I'm so glad we did. The oxtail, cabbage, and jerk chicken were my absolute favorite. The fritters were mostly bread and the trini fried chicken wasn't anything special ... both good but not my favorite. We also had the rum punch mimosas which were truly a party in a glass that I didn't know I needed. I will be back to Bammy's soon for dinner.

Yelp
Went to Bammy's for the first time for a good friend's birthday. We were seated outside, and the view was really nice and peaceful! We started out with a few appetizers: festival, fritters, jerk wings, and oxtail. For libations we went with the rum punch twice over. Everything was very well seasoned. I'm picky with my oxtail (OXTAIL, NO S) and festival but they hit it out of the park. By the time the appitizers were done I was already pretty sated and passed on the entree. I will definitely be back to give a few other items a try! Service was average, not great but not bad either.

Yelp
Unfortunately, my visit to this establishment began with a bad taste in my mouth. Upon entering, there was a couple who were 30 mins late for their reservations. Due to their tardiness, their table was given to someone else. My friend arrived to the restaurant on time for our reservation and was asked if we wanted to dine inside or outside (the reservation was for an indoor table btw). In the seconds that my friend texted the rest of us to see where we would like to be seated, the couple was seated at our table. When I arrived (1min later), the waiter told us that we would have to wait 20 mins to be seated inside. Due to the wait, we decided to eat on the patio. It was a bit cool, but not unbearable. We started off with the rum punch mimosas ($14) which were very delicious. For appetizers we had jerk wings ($15) and conch fritters ($12). You HAVE to get the wings. They were seasoned to perfection. I thought the fritters were just okay, but my friends really loved them. After we finished our first drinks, we got a big bottle of rum punch ($55) which filled all four of our glasses almost twice. For entrees, a friend and I got the curried goat ($18), another friend got the jerk chicken ($20) and another ordered the Escovitch ($50). All of the entrees had heaping portions and were amazing. This is the most tasteful, seasoned, and perfectly cooked Jamaican food that I have ever had. The rice and peas were so flavorful and the goat was incredibly tender. I tasted some of my friend's fish and it was heavenly and perfectly cooked. We all have plenty to take home. For sides we ordered plantains and macaroni pie (both $8). Whewwww. Those plantains were amazing. Slightly crispy on the edges and the perfect amount of ripeness to where there still was a little bite. Omg just amazing. The macaroni pie really amazed me. It had such a nice smoky flavor. I almost wanted purchase another order of it to take home. Lastly, for dessert we had none other than rum cake ($11) It was a small bundt cake with a white icing on top. It was decadent yet very light and not too sweet. The rum balanced out the sweetness nicely. Besides the hiccup in the beginning, the service was pretty good. Our waiter, Firas (this is a different person than the one in the beginning) was very attentive and had a lovely personality. I will definitely return to Bammy's in the near future. If I have a great experience, I will have no problem bumping them up to 5 stars.

Yelp
It's okay. The food is okay. The service is okay. Nothing was great, but everything was okay..... the oxtail was good. The jerk wings were nondescript, the pork belly was dry, the curry beef was okay. Caribbean food is usually flavorful and delicious. This was not it. I live in the area so it's nice to walk over and listen to some good music while having a meal. It's right at the navy yard waterfront so there are great views. My table was annoyed throughout our entire meal by 4 flies and that definitely didn't help the experience. There are little to no options for Caribbean food in the Navy Yard so I'm sure I'll be back even if it's just to sit at the bar and have a drink.
google avatar

Yelp
I can't remember how I found out about Bammy's but I'm glad that I did. Quality Caribbean food is hard to come by, so I was ecstatic to find out about Bammy's in Navy Yard. Location: The restaurant is right next to the water, so you'll have to walk into a courtyard like area to get to it. Food : I ordered the jerk wings and loved them. Drinks: I ordered the rum punch. The rum punch was yummy as well. Ambiance: The interior design was perfect. It definitely gives a island feel and the music was amazing as well. Service: The service was amazing as well. I highly recommend Bammy's and I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
The service was so good the host was kind and I got my food really fast no long wait at all

Sandy B.

Yelp
My $40 oxtail was burnt and had a bitter after taste. Service is terrible and slow. Only positive thing I can say about this restaurant is the location. Service terrible, food bitter, just no. First and last for sure!!!

Kyle P.

Yelp
My wife and I were looking for a Caribbean restaurant to eat at. We wanted an upscale restaurant with decent food that was close to our home. After some searching, we landed on Bammy's. Poor choice. The service is poor and the food is average at best; particularly for the pricing. Do yourself a favor and go to a neighborhood Jamaican place the ext time that you are in the mood for Caribbean.
google avatar

Leah G.

Yelp
We wanted to try Caribbean food and thought Bammys would be a good choice since it's in the Navy Yard and they had outdoor seating. The location was great, right on the water but...the service was subpar. They seated us but we had to go back inside after 20 mins to ask them to come take our order. Once they took our order, they never came to check on us again. I had to wave them down again to get a box and the check. I ordered the rum punch. It didn't have that much PUNCH to me. I couldn't taste the rum. For my dinner, I ordered the Stew Chicken. It was pretty spicy and I'm not a spicy person but it was good. If you like spicy it's probably perfect for you! My chicken was very tender along with the rice. The sweet plantains were also pretty good. The food was pretty good but the service was 2 stars!
google avatar

Rhonda C.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and both times the food was super flavorful and the service was really great! If you're in the mood for some good Caribbean food with a view (if you opt for outdoor seating), would definitely recommend Bammy's. Things I loved about this spot: - Meat and seafood dishes were SOOOO good. Packed with a ton of flavor that make your tastebuds do a little 2 step. I would recommend the Curry Shrimp, Jerk Wings, Oxtails and the side Chana dish. - portions are sizable which I appreciated. - decor is cute and it's never too crowded (would recommend a week night if you're as anti-big crowds as I am) - staff has always been top notch I did take a vegetarian friend here once and he was not in love with the veggie options (only reason for the 4 and not 5 stars). Overall, I still enjoy popping in for some great Caribbean meals in the very cute navy yard area.

Yelp
I am here for Bammy's and all of the West-Indian inspired restaurants that are opening in and around the city! Bammy's delivers on food, dancehall/reggae vibes, and strong drinks. The decor isn't the fanciest, so if you're looking for that, go elsewhere. Bammy's decor and the vibe I get is that of a backyard, chill spot where you're guaranteed to have a good time. A big pro is that it's located on the water, so if you want to walk around afterwards or visit other bars/restaurants, you're able to. I need to visit again as I want to try their Festival and Escovitch. The verdict? Just go.

Yelp
We've been there a couple of times for dinner about two years ago. It was always crowded, the food was good. The rum punch was great! I heard they have brunch and wanted to try it out. The DC area is not short of good brunch places. With that said. Don't waste your time with this one. We had reservations but didn't need them. First of all it's bad sign when you go to a restaurant and they hand you a scrap paper with two items. I asked for a mimosa and they didn't have those either. I sat at the bar waiting for my husband to park. Since it was a limited menu . I ordered a rum punch and fritters. The lady next to me ordered the same thing but an additional item. The bartender rang up my card for three items "and couldn't reverse it" So they gave me cash back plus the 20%. We sat outside. I saw everyone else getting their meals. Not only did I not get my fritters. But no one came to give us water or take our order. When we asked the waiters going back and forth they said they were told to serve us. I decided to cancel. But we took it to go and went someplace else. Had a much better experience at Chloe. Next time I want Caribbean I'll go to St. James.

Jack H.

Yelp
Terrible service, but good food. The food itself was good, some of the best Caribbean you can find in DC. The service, however, was comically bad. In my (admittedly large) party of 8, they forgot something for everyone. 2 peoples whole orders were forgotten about. 2 people never got their drinks. Another person ordered 2 sides, but never got one of them until they asked. The waitress rarely came back to check on us and never filled up our water. One persons order was so forgotten that they didn't even get it in the restaurant--they just gave them it in a takeaway bag (though they did throw in some free plantains for the trouble, which was nice.) To be clear, the serving staff was genuinely nice and probably overworked. But it was one of the worst experiences I've had when it comes to ordering, and I seriously question what kind of training is given to the poor staff members.
google avatar

Brittany L.

Yelp
So we decided to try the tasting menu. DISCLAIMER: do not try the tasting menu unless you have an appetite! Thinking it was going to be a little bit of this and a little bit of that we went for the tasting menu--the two of us. It's started it out light, the saltfish fritters *chef's kiss* Then the food began...platters upon platters of things that I really wanted to try on the menu but didn't have enough appetite to eat in its entirety. The waitstaff were wonderful and the drink that I did have, rum punch of course, was delicious--with and without rum (my boyfriend does not drink). The food was perfectly seasoned and was enough to last the next day.

Yelp
Food: 7.8/10 Vibe: 9/10 Service: 9/10 Value: 6/10 Attentive servers and a beautiful waterfront view on the patio are Bammy's strong suite. It's pretty expensive as far as Jamaican food goes and beware the lack of Jamaican patty's. Jerk chicken wings were excellent. Braised oxtail was a touch over reduced and therefore salty. Braised chicken stew was good but pricy. Collard greens were buttery, savory, cooked really well. Fried cassava was a little hard, we will skip that next time.

Yelp
Ok ok ok. The beautiful location is located on The Yards D.C., set on the Anacostia River. Absolutely stunning location, filled with many restaurants, bars, and stunning views of the river. Inside decor is rather bland and doesn't continue the wow factor you experience outside. The food is ok but not quite what you might expect from an "upscale" Yardie restaurant. The jerk wings were good, above average. Rice and peas were ok, nothing I couldn't get from my local take-out restaurant in Brooklyn. Cod fish fritters were just ok as well. Service was just ok as well, it felt like the manager was our server. Whomever he was, he was wearing many hats. His first priority wasn't to be a server. The bathroom was a mess, I definitely wasn't expecting that.

Yelp
I was looking for a restaurant for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, that I hadn't yet been to, and my cousin recommended Bammy's so I decided to give it a try. Bammy's is a Caribbean restaurant located in Navy Yard where all of their dishes are inspired by the owner's experiences traveling throughout Jamaica, Trinidad, and Barbados! On Saturdays Bammy's hosts a Day Party and Brunch with a love DJ from 12pm-6pm. The brunch menu is somewhat limited but has pretty good offerings such as pancakes with friend chicken, a breakfast plate, a hamburger, and a few other options. For drinks you have the option of a rum punch mimosa, jerked bloody Mary's, or their special "mimosa service" where you get a carafe of rum punch and a bottle of champagne. They also allow you to order from their dinner menu which is a bit more expansive and you can order things such as 1/2 chicken, pork belly, jerk chicken, curry goat, curry shrimp, and a few other options. With all of the meals you get a order of rice and peas and a few comes with stewed cabbage. I ordered the curry goat with potatoes and carrots and rice and peas and I was not disappointed. The meal was cooked to perfection and the goat was falling off the bone. It was slightly spicy but I like spicy so it didn't bother me. As far as the environment/ambience, it's a fairly small restaurant, which is to be expected due to its location, but it was very clean and well kept. The minimal decor and Caribbean music being played by the live DJ made you feel as though you were in the Caribbean and I loved that. Overall, Bammy's is certainly a vibe! The food was great, the service was in point, and the option to dine in or outside makes it even better! I highly recommend!

Yelp
Bammy's is one of my neighborhood favorites. Their Pain Killer stays true to its name- it is basically a pina colado, but will have you ordering enough to cause you pain in the AM. Aside from their delicious creeper drinks, their food is great and full of flavor and spices. I love getting their conch fritters and shrimp curry. Every time I have dined here, I always have plenty of leftovers. Also their music really captures the whole vibe of the restaurant and makes for a very enjoyable meal. Make sure to snag a reservation on weekends! They get busy QUICK.

Yelp
We made a reservation for indoor seating. The music was ridiculously loud. You literally couldn't carry on a conversation. It was a lot for a Wednesday evening. I'm not sure if the live DJ is always there but that wasn't the vibe I was looking for. Thankfully, we were able to get an outdoor seat. The outdoor area is amazing. You have a nice view of the water and there is great opportunities to people watch. Austin was our server. He was great. The cocktails we had were tasty. The food was all good. I really loved the pepper shrimp. The curry goat was good. The mac and cheese could have used a little more flavor.

Yelp
This spot has been on my list for a while and I finally got the opportunity to check it out! First of all, it's very close to the water, and they've got outdoor seating, so that's nice! As soon as I turned the corner, I could hear some dancehall playing, so I was eagerly anticipating. On a Saturday late afternoon, my friend and I couldn't dine in without a reservation... it was poppin'! So thankfully the bar had plenty of space so we sat there. I could tell we had just missed brunch, and I for a fact I want to come back for that. Rum punch mimosas??? Shiiiii --- moving on. We looked through the menu and decided to do a few drinks and appetizers. I got a painkiller and mai tai... let's start with the painkiller -- easily the strongest one I've had, but at the same time SO delicious! That was really enjoyable. The mai tai came in a taller tropical glass with a pineapple design, and it was also delicious -- but not as good as the painkiller. As for the food.... I was pleasantly surprised by the spice I tasted in what I had, including the conch fritters and the chow mein. The pimento fried chicken was a bit of a miss for me. The chicken was well-seasoned, but it was too bready... and I didn't expect them to be nuggets. The pineapple chow... was literally a pile of pineapples with garlic, lime and cilantro... I NEVER would've thought of that combination... but do you know that it actually worked??? It's weird, I know... but yum. Overall, I'd say the drinks are the main attraction over the food. And the DJ was on POINT. Like, phenomenal job DJ. Check the place out if you're nearby, especially the drinks.

Yelp
The food was delicious! I had the jerk chicken wings and almost went back for another order. The rum punch is authentic, but too sweet for me. They have great drinks selections otherwise and customize at your request.

Yelp
The atmosphere and service were casual. The pace of serving the food was irregular. Most dishes were priced reasonably, except the market priced fish. It is a decent regular restaurant, but not at Michelin level. 4*Conch fritters: conch fritters were crispy, and the sauce was some kind of tartar sauce - tasted great. 3*Jerk Chicken Wings: it was pretty good 3*Jerk pork belly: came with lots of rice and beans, only 3 or 4 pieces of pork. It's not worth it. 5*Goat curry: this was the best dish we had, tasted delicious. 2* Escovitch fish: Do NOT order this dish. It's a waste of money. The snapper was not fresh and yet it was market priced at $55. It was basically fried fish accompanied with some carrots, onion and red pepper in vinegar and chili sauce. Nothing special at all. Sides: 3*coleslaw: per normal 4*plantains: good 4*Bammy: glutinous toast. I liked it.

Yelp
First off, I don't eat meat or seafood, so this is for all the vegheads and veggieish people out there. The menu is kinda limited for vegetarians. I wish they'd just label the veggie-friendly food, but it's fairly obvious from the description. They have two vegetarian entrees on the menu. One is the potato curry, which was really good. The other was a chana curry, which I didn't get, but the server said he wasn't a fan of chickpeas in general and another guest I asked as we were leaving made the squinty face, which is Black woman-speak for "it's i'ght, but I'm not enamored by it". I grew up seeing that face. It's the most trusted source in America. The highlight is that all of the sides are vegetarian-friendly. I had the greens, which were good (especially if you are a fan of coconut milk) and the festival, which are a fry bread and pretty solid (although I would prefer a bigger fry bread instead of smaller strips). And the n/a punch I had was fantastic. My only real criticism is that they charge you extra for hot sauce (but don't tell you it's extra). I considered only giving them three stars because of that but decided it was a petty reason to take away a star. How does a Caribbean restaurant charge for hot sauce? And people wonder why Black folks bring their own hot sauce with them places. Smh Anway, the service was standard DC (consistent and helpful enough, but not terribly hospitable) and the location was great, tucked into the industrial loft area near the river. I'd definitely go back again (if someone visiting was craving Caribbean food). 3.75 out of 5

Yelp
Delicious Caribbean food by the water. This restaurant is in a beautiful location, so be sure to take a walk around after you've had your fill of delicious Caribbean food. The plantains were exactly as I was expecting so they really hit the spot. The pork belly was even better than I expected, it melted in my mouth! Everything was well flavored. I loved the playlist, if you're a fan of Soca you'll have fun hearing some good tunes. I would definitely recommend Bammy's to friends and family. I'll definitely be going back!

Yelp
Food was just okay, overpriced for the quality. Service was slow--one of my group ordered the oxtail hash and after about 25 minutes passed, the server came out to tell us they were out of oxtail. Why did it take so long to tell us? We ordered the jerk chicken as a replacement but the rest of the orders came out right after, so one person had to sit and wait for their food...and then, server comes back saying they found more oxtail! However, when the plate finally arrived there were about 3 small pieces of oxtail and the rest was potatoes. Pretty disappointing.

Yelp
We came to Bammy's for a friend of a friend's birthday during August and sat outside. The seating is close to the water so there was a nice view and generally pleasant ambiance. The table ordered a few appetizers: festival, fritters, jerk wings, and oxtail. I ordered the jerk pork belly as my main dish. Everything tasted delicious- well seasoned, great sauce, and not overly spicy. I can normally put away food without a problem but after all the appetizers and a few Rum Punches, I ended up having to pack a box for most of my meal. The service was averagely good. No qualms. Overall a great time. I would recommend this spot for anyone interested in some good West Indian food.

Yelp
Outside seating is perfect for a summer evening. The drinks were large for the price but just okay on flavor - got the tropical breeze. All the food was good - patties and the plantains were my favorite. The doubles lacked flavor and needed more of the spicy sauce on top - the bites with the sauce were very tasty. The cou cou almost had too much flavor that it overpowered any bites taken after. The jerk wings were kinda expensive for what it is but good. The service was great! The staff seated us quickly and were attentive. Food was served relatively fast - Will be back to try other stuff!
