As one of Chelsea's many galleries, 303 has ample space to provide visitors a rewarding opportunity to view shows. Several rooms of varying sizes are present which allows for each individual piece to be engaged with and understood in numerous ways, whether as standalone works or as a collective. In my experience visiting, however, very few shows actually achieve this capability, though. Of course, all artistic work is subjective, but I've left on more than one occasion feeling less than interested after walking through an exhibition at 303.

Great to see if you’re nearby. It’s a small gallery two rooms (one large room and one tiny room). Friendly staff.

Blue Chip gallery showing quality work by important artists who actually have something to say, and ask real questions.

Yelp
Nice gallery and decent space, just no large open space. Alright staff, helpful if u ask they help you find what you need to know but not welcoming they don't grey or smile at everyone even if you talk to them. Not a lot of works but a few interesting painting and sculptures this time.

Yelp
I'm not in love with the layout of this place - the main area is a little tight for roaming and the tucked-away back room just begs to be ignored - but I liked the Stephen Shore exhibit. Lots of dead white people who were cooler than I could ever be decades before I was born, made even cooler by the cooling touch of black and white. The lady on staff was very helpful and enthusiastic. The gallery also keeps coffee table books on hand that correspond roughly to works on display - cheat sheets for the masses (i.e. me).

Yelp
The art game is about instincts - and your search for truth is only as good as your tour guide contextualizing the aesthetic. 303 is a good place to start out, maybe a little safe in what they choose to show, but important nonetheless. Thought provoking and consistently well shown, you will have something to talk about over drinks at Pastis this spring...

Yelp
303 Gallery is the NYC home of one of my favorite photographers, Stephen Shore, which means it's always worth visiting whenever they have work of his on display. Their roster is pretty impressive -- Mary Heilmann & Karen Kilimnik are two of my favorite contemporary artists -- and they have fun parties, too.

Yelp
As far as galleries go, this is one of my faves. Not just artists I like (Douglas Aitken, Thomas Demand, Tim Gardner, Collier Schorr, and more) but it's a nice space, too. Definitely a must for your stroll down 22nd Street.

Yelp
The layout of 303 is a little cramped and you don't have the luxury of being able to stand back and view all of the artist's work at once. The Thomas Demand show (YellowCake; Nov 3-Dec 22, 2007) was a high note to end a day of gallery touring.
