Unfortunately I would rate this hotel a generous one star due to the below par service, especially when you consider the high prices they charge, it's not worth it. Staff in the roof top bar area act like they’re there to ignore you - no smiles, no hello nothing, they just look at you or ignore you.
Room service was an epic fail. I ordered food to my room via the app and it was never delivered. I checked with reception to make sure the order had gone through and they confirmed the order was showing clearly and they were sorry I hadn’t received it. That’s it - no effort to try and compensate the 2+hrs I’d been waiting for a failed service. Shambolic. They still charged me a tax when I check out despite their failure to deliver a key service.
Housekeeping in your room is the minimum you would expect. I found a piece of sharp metal behind one of my pillowcases.
The corridors are not carpeted and neither are the rooms, so it is very loud when people walk past your room or house keeping are clattering about I the corridor
There are no suitable cups in the room for normal tea or coffee - only tiny espresso sized cups, x4 of them. No standard tea or mint tea in the room, just some unusual herbal mixes that taste like thyme/basil.
The shower has a small ridge/step, not visible to the naked eye as the same floor covering is used on each level…you could trip/esp an older or less mobile person, so be careful.
Fresh juice is left poured out in glasses at breakfast, this isn’t hygienic as people are leaning, breathing over the poured glasses, flies could drop in, and the juice is reaching room temperature whilst sat idly in these glasses. Let people pour their own juice as is standard in all hotels. Buy a juice dispenser if need be.
The rooms have a kitchenette with a two ring hob, but no utensils, cutlery, pots or plates, the cupboards are bare.
There is a fridge in the room but it is vey small, you cannot fit much in there is doest stretch back like a normal fridge, it seems geared for a few bottles.
The male reception staff were great but the one female staff member I interacted with seemed to have trouble with reading and made me feel like an intruder when I entered the hotel to go back to my room after a day out - give people wrist bands if your staff are going to behave like this.
The only thing this hotel has going for it is its location, however there are plenty of other options within easy striding distance, literally a few steps away. I’d highly recommend you opt for one of those. You don’t need to be positioned right in Monastiraki Square, it’s not necessary and I think the views are better a little further away rather than being bang in the middle.
