Yelp
The food here is incredible! The fusion flavors are exactly what this Texas boy(who had his honey moon in Thailand) needs! Brisket in the fried rice The drinks here are off the charts! Kudos to the bar staff They have tons of seating inside and out, plus a dope event space for large bookings! Don't forget to follow their social media They are my entertainment part of the death scroll

Yelp
Really awesome concept of mixing American bbq (smoking the meats for fall off the bone texture) with Thai dishes, but the execution wasn't great. Many of the dishes were too salty! If the meat wasn't so tender we would have rated this lower due to the poor seasoning. The Red Curry Sausage appetizer, however was 10/10 and that alone is worth the trip. The coconut panna cotta was also really tasty and very refreshing. Consider coming for two red curry orders and dessert

Yelp
Food 4/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Lamb curry was a too salty, overpriced for the (it doesn't look like it from the picture but) small portion, but seasoned very well. I would've gave it a 5/5 had it not been so salty or portions were a little bigger. The mocktail was delicious and just what I wanted. I came with a friend and they ordered a the (V) Red Curry which I didn't get to try, but was told it was good. I would say come with a big group and do family style to try more menu items. I unfortunately couldn't since my friend was vegan.

Yelp
Everything we ordered here is delicious, portions are a bit small but worth it! There is usually a wait so be prepared for that. Parking is difficult as Eem is located in a busy area.

Yelp
I've been wanting to stop by Eem for a while now . The last time I was in town last year I desperately wanted to go here but the dinner rush was pretty crazy and my family did not want to wait. Lucky for me, I was back in Oregon last month and I had a few hours to kill until my family arrived in town. That gave me the perfect opportunity to finally stop by here. I ended up stopping by Eem for lunch shortly after they opened for lunch service. When I arrived a small crowd was already starting to form. The restaurant itself is fun and colorful. You have an open look into the kitchen as well and the smell of all the food is intoxicating. For my meal I opted for the pulled pork green curry and got the Life of Luxury as my drink. The Life of Luxury was so so SO good. It was Passionfruit forward (just how I like it) and the Ya Dong float paired with the gin worked super well. On its own , Ya Dong is almost medicinal in flavor. But the gin , ginger beer, whiskey, and passionfruit worked super well with it. I opted for the Green Curry with Crispy Pulled pork because I'm a sucker for anything pulled pork (barbecue, carnitas, you name it). I was not disappointed! The green curry itself was solid - Lemon grass and lime leaf forward with a subtle low burner spice . The star by far was the pork. This is some real deal barbecue - Smokey, fatty, and tender. It contrasts but plays so well with the mellow and creamy flavors of traditional Thai food. All in all, my meal was perfection and I only wish I was with a group of people so I could try more dishes , have another drink, and dine family style. I'll definitely be making it a point to stop by again the next time. 5/5

Yelp
First glance stepping into this spot, is it was BUSY but of course that's a great sign! Actually found this spot while talking to a former employee, he said we had to try it out. A Thai spot with a bit of a bougie twist is what I felt while waiting for our table. I'll have to say everything we ordered was bomb!! Only thing I thought was a little weird was that when we ordered the Som Tom (papaya salad) we weren't able to change the spice level because they said it was pre-batched, I've never been to a Thai restaurant that doesn't make it fresh. That was my only thing fret about this spot. Vibes were nice and I will fasholy be back again!

Yelp
I visited Portland for the weekend and Eem caught my attention--Thai fusion with BBQ meats?! Count me in. The service was excellent; we asked for recommendations, and our server took the time to explain the entire menu. Here's what I tried: * White Curry with Brisket Burnt Ends - A unique and smoky curry with great flavor. Definitely something I'd order again. * Roasted Mushroom Fried Rice - It was good but I probably wouldn't order it again. The rice was crispy, with a mild kick from the shishito pepper.

Yelp
The gist: - Tasty - Food was a solid B+ - Trendy - Clearly a busy, touristy spot with a hip interior - Noisy - High ceilings + large capacity = loud! - Pricey - Hand in hand with the whole trendy thing! Overall, it hit the spot for a flavorful & filling meal. I wouldn't return at a busy hour - I think the noise level would be unbearable. If I lived in the area, this might be a place I would bring friends or family visiting, but I probably wouldn't frequent it often myself.

Yelp
Came here for lunch and had a great meal! They're Thai fusion keep in mind! But it's a pretty hip joint. Service is really helpful and friendly! Had their smoked kra pao, chopped bbq fried rice, sweet and sweet and sour chicken, papaya salad, and their white curry with brisket burnt ends. We basically got most of the popular items. Some were better than others: Smoked kra pao: 7.5/10 Chopped bbq fried rice: 8.5/10 Sweet and sour chicken: 8.4/10 White curry with brisket burnt ends: 7/10 Papaya salad: 6.5/10 - Keep in mind portion sizes feel pretty small! - Street parking - Great for all occasions! Solid place overall!

Yelp
Eem's unholy trick is Thai meets southern barbecue. Is it worth the super long wait, crammed like sardines into a U-shaped sofa area in the corner? Yes. Yes, it is. After an hour+ in purgatory, you'll get whiplash from the service. On the heels of the strangely cold and robotic indifference radiating from the overstressed hostess, the bartenders and wait staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. Once you cross the transom from waitlist to seated, everything gets all warm and golden. My gf is gluten-free and the server simply took the menu and very helpfully struck out everything she wasn't safe to eat (see photo for quick reference). We sat at the bar and had: Drinks: ~ Prickly pear cider ~ Yuzu bliss NA cocktail Food: ~ Massaman curry w/smoked lamb shoulder ~ Green curry w/crispy pork Everything was wildly delicious. If I lived here, I'd submit myself to the abuse on a weekly basis.

Yelp
Wow oh wow Eem was awesome. Only not awesome fact is that they don't do small reservations so you'll likely have to wait 45 min for a table. But we walked the area and got a text which made the process easy. Foot and service were both phenomenal. We were seated at the bar and once ordering promptly received our food. Everything was tasty. We got the white curry, fried rice, yu choy, and sweet and sour chicken. White curry lived up to the hype and was so flavorful. I also loved the fried rice which had a more unique smoke. The slushy drink my gf got was the perfect level of boozy while still being delicious. Everything came out pretty fast as well which I was impressed by. Would absolutely come back here in the future. The food was amazing and atmosphere is fun.

Yelp
I'm always trying to invite my dad to cool restaurants in Portland but he refuses to eat at "hipster" places where we have to wait in line. I convinced him to join my wife and me here. We'd had it at the top of our list of places to eat for over a year and thought it would be the perfect opportunity to convince my dad to change his attitude. Unfortunately, it was not the hit we were expecting. Maybe we hyped it up too much but everything we got was... fine. Some of the chicken wasn't fully coated in sauce. So some of us were saying it tasted like plain fried chicken while others were saying it was flavorful. The bbq fried rice in my opinion was - I hate saying this - could have been fried rice from anywhere with just liquid smoked added. I'm not a chef but the smokey flavor felt synthetic. I would be more than happy to be proven wrong but that's what it tasted like to my limited palatte. The other dishes we got were the white curry and a fish civiche type dish. We don't drink so I'm sitting here wondering if the dishes work better with alcoholic beverages. Beats me. If you're hoping to educate a friend or parent on what it means to be a foodie in Portland, I would recommend starting with somewhere else

Yelp
While visiting Portland for my wife's bday, we came here for dinner because it was recommended by a Lyft driver. Upon walking in, we were greeted very warmly with smiles. We were immediately seated. The waitress was very pleasant. I can't remember her name, but she was young with blonde hair and a facial piercing. She provided her recommendations by request. It took us a min to figure out what we wanted, but she was very patient. We ordered the BBQ fried rice and boneless chicken thighs. It all came out hot and tasty. For drinks, we ordered Makers Mark whiskey with coke and cherries and a tequila well drink. Both were delicious. We spoke to our waitress about how our time has been in Portland. She was very friendly. We ended the night with a special boozy slushy shot that she had made for my wife to help celebrate her bday. She put a candle in it and all. We loved that gesture!!!! We highly reccomend this spot. Oh.. the ambiance was nice as well.

Yelp
Eem is solid. Had a late dinner on a Saturday evening and thankfully missed the rush with hour waits and all that. Mocktails were excellent. Presentation, flavor and tall glass. I got "That's it, That's all" Coconut Cream pineapple soda, lime, cinnamon, grapefruit. Probably one of the best mocktails I've ever had and will quench your thirst even if you're not participating in a dry Jan like me. Ceviche was like thin sashimi in a very delicious sauce. 5 slices. Very good. Finally the main event. Green Curry with crispy pulled pork. For pitching the food as family style I was a little surprise at the portion. Not tiny, but not generous either. This meal was very good but not mind blowing or spicy (server said it was) I would definitely return to Eem. The drum and bass playing throughout the meal made for a cool lounge vibe. We enjoyed ourselves.

Yelp
Eem is one of those places where it's wonderful and delicious if you visit once in a while. The flavor is bold and makes you crave for more, however, if you do visit too often it can get overwhelming. The service is always friendly and wait time for tables can be long depending on if it's rush hour or not. This place is a true Portland gem and will never disappoint.

Yelp
Upon entering it is a very cool little spot filled with Thai decorations, reminiscent of a restaurant in Thailand. The servers were nice and hospitable. The brisket fried rice is really good! I also tried the brisket curry and it was a 7 out of 10. I only say that because I felt like the bbq smoky flavor was taking away from the delicate coconut broth. The broth was excellent by itself and the brisket was great by itself.

Yelp
I've had Eem on my list for forever, but every time we come by, it's packed. So today, on a Saturday evening, we decided to just stick it out. For the four of us, they told us it would be a 45 minute wait. It turned out to be an hour and we were seated outside. Thankfully there are some really cute shops you can peruse while you wait. But maybe that is their plan! We were starving by the time we got a seat! We ordered three appetizers: the ceviche, a large size of the sweet and sour chicken, and the papaya salad. The tuna melted in your mouth, and I loved the toppings to combat the creaminess. The chicken was boneless but still very flavorful and crispy! We should've ordered more of this. The papaya salad was the right amount of spice and sour flavor! We ordered family style and shared the vegetable fried rice, the spicy jungle curry, and the green curry. The fried rice was pretty incredible. I loved the mushrooms and the garlic in it. The spicy jungle curry was a bit of a let down. We ordered it because it was so unique, but it ended up having a very plain tasting soup base. The meat, at least, was very tender, though small in portion. On the other hand, the green curry was beautiful. It was so creamy and perfectly spicy. I just didn't love the protein choice. Overall, Eem was yummy but the wait was long and the portion sizes left us still hungry!

Yelp
Visited Eem through recommendations from friends and I am so glad my friends and I had a chance to go as we were visiting Portland for only a couple of days. Food: 10/10. Their curries are so flavorful and amazing, one of the best I've tasted! Even their cocktails were so good. Service: 10/10! A waitress noticed that it was my birthday when looking at my ID and told the bartender and the bartender did a candle on a cinnamon stick on my drink. It was so cute and the drink was delicious on top of that! Ambiance: 10/10, so great in there and loved their decor. Overall, will come back here whenever I am back in Portland!

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday at 2 pm and it was packed! For a party of 5 we waited almost an hour. The staff were very friendly though and the food came out quickly once we ordered and were seated. We ordered the hot fried cauliflower, sweet and sour chicken, smoked pork krapao, white curry with brisket burnt-ends, and chopped bbq fried rice. Honestly, everything was so good and I have a hard time picking a favorite item. I highly recommend trying them all! I have a severe peanut allergy and had no issues eating here, just let them know about your allergies before ordering. This is definitely my favorite restaurant in Portland and will definitely be back!

Yelp
This place is a MUST try in Portland. It's a soul food and Asian fusion place. We got the sweet and sour chicken and bbq fried rice. It was so good I came back AGAIN the next day by myself for the bbq fried rice! The chicken was crispy and the fried rice was so flavorful. Dinner is always slammed but I would suggest coming during lunch and you'll be able to walk in and get seated pretty fast. The interior is filled with lots of decor and plants. Service is super fast and friendly!

Yelp
Everything here is always amazing. Beautiful interior, cute cocktails, friendly service, and food is to die for. The white curry is one of the most delicious and unique things I've ever had and easily became one of my favorite dishes I've had so far in Portland. I've been back already a few times and there may be a bit of a wait but it's always worth it.

Yelp
This would be my last meal on earth. Everything here is truly done well. The star is the white curry. I want an IV bag of that if I could. We got a bunch of dishes to share, we also love the pork belly rice dish. Everything was fantastic. This place is truly a gem. This was probably my favorite meal for 2024.

Yelp
FYI There is a line for a line lol. Aka You have to wait in line to put your name in the line. They said it would be a 30-45 min wait but they texted us after 10 min. We went at 5:20 ish on a Saturday night. The vibe of the place was cute. For drinks we ordered the "black silk stocking" which was super smooth and good and the "yes, no, maybe so" which was also pretty good. For food we ordered the hot fried cauliflower app, green curry with crispy pulled pork, smoked pork krapao, and massaman curry with smoked lamb shoulder, which to be honest is the only one I would actually probably order again it was super delicious. Everything else was not bad by any means but did not live up to my expectations.

Yelp
This was the restaurant that I was most excited to try in Portland. I love BBQ and Thai so the fusion sounded really nice. I ordered the white curry with burnt ends and shared the brisket friend rice. The brisket fried rice was really disappointing, the flavors were kind of boring, I enjoyed the brisket but it was dry and the rice itself didn't have much of a wok flavor or any kind of flavor even. The white curry with burnt ends redeemed the meal for me. The brisket in this dish was delicious and the larger chunks in the curry kept it tender and there were fatty bits that I loved. The flavor of the curry reminded me of Tom kha, lots of coconut, lime and had a lighter consistency with some heat. I'd definitely come back for this, but next time I'd skip the fried rice. My cousin has the massaman curry which I had a bite of and it seemed ok, but I'm also not really into massaman curry. She seemed to like it well enough.

Yelp
This place is sooo yummy. Papaya salad is so delicious I wish they would make it less spicy. It's a little impossible to eat but worth the tears. Sweet and sour chicken. Small size is good portion for 2 and delicious served piping hot. I love the white curry (who doesnt) Nice lovely staff. Surprised I liked the Thai tea so much since it's oat milk. Interesting choice

Yelp
Such a great meal. I came here with my family on recommendation from my younger brother and it hit the spot (food AND drinks)! The cocktails weren't too sweet and my drink, Separation Anxiety, brought out the lychee flavor nicely. A little heavy on the ice but otherwise great. The curries were top notch. I've never had anything like the white curry before, but it paired with rice so well and the brisket was done perfectly. Red curry was well seasoned and flavorful too. The fried chicken was great. Not too heavily breaded nor overbearingly sweet, just right. The fried rice was probably the weakest out of all the items, as it felt a little burnt, but the flavor was still there. Overall, 9.5/10. Would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area.

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday night for dinner, party of 4, because it was highly rated on the internet and we were excited for some Thai fusion cuisine. Our order: mushroom fried rice, thai ceviche, green curry (with pork), white curry with brisket. My friend also got a hot tea. We also got a side of white rice. Total bill was about $26 per person after tip. We sat outdoors because we wanted the fastest available table, and we had to wait about 35 minutes (we put our phone number down, walked across the street and got some bingsoo dessert before dinner to kill some time). Pros: In my opinion, doing family style is best so you can taste a bunch of stuff. - My favorite dishes were the thai ceviche (which came with like 4-5 pieces of fish), the white curry with brisket, and the mushroom fried rice. - Reasonable prices in my opinion for the dishes. The 4 of us were decently satiated but had room for dessert. - The service was overall not bad, considering that we were seated outside the waitress did a good job checking on us often enough and refilling our water, since some of the dishes were spicy. - The brisket in the white curry was very delicious and unique. Very thai fusion Cons: - the longer wait on a Tuesday night surprised us, people are bigger fans of this than we expect. They don't take reservations, so be prepared to wait close by. - Since we sat outside, it got very dark and there's no lighting or heat lamps available. So it can get very cold and dark where we couldn't see our food. Also the wind kept blowing leaves onto our plate - The green curry tasted very similar to the white curry, we couldn't really tell the difference and both just tasted kind of salty. Wasn't sure this was a mistake but we had already committed and didn't bother asking to clarify. Overall, I think that if we happened to walk by and there was no wait, I would be interested in coming again and ordering some other things off the menu. I would recommend getting a table inside if it's chilly outside, bring a jacket if not.

Yelp
Dropped in on a walk/lark. Cool vibe, open setting, interesting menu...fusion Thai-southern? Can't comment on the food- but the cocktails were inventive, tasty, and proportioned. Would definitely want to eat here at some point .

Yelp
Delicious! Just be prepared to wait to be seated. We arrived on a Saturday around 7pm and were quoted a 1-1.5 hour wait. We expected this considering all of the reviews on yelp. They do call you back when the table is ready, so you can venture around Mississippi and build your appetite. The server was kind and helpful. He pointed out a few popular dishes and some that he personally preferred. We ordered the sweet and sour chicken off the appetizer menu, curry, and two things from the wok (greens and the pork/ egg dish). The food was, like I said, delicious. My personal favorite was the chicken (a size small was perfect for two people). My only suggestion/ complaint: the tables are too close together! I know they're trying to get in as many people as possible, especially with such a long wait, but I felt like I was literally side by side with the person sitting at the tables next to me. I could hear their entire conversation. The gap between the tables was so close that when the server came to talk with the other table, his ass was in my partners face lol Additionally, I would suggest ordering what you plan on eating there. The food doesn't reheat well- our leftovers felt like they were soaked in fish sauce and honestly, we ended up tossing it.

Yelp
What an amazing find in Portland. Stopped by on a week night a couple hours before closing and the waitlist was closed!! But... they have a separate take out/pickup window and so we lucked out. We ordered their famous - chopped bbq fried rice, white curry and sweet and sour chicken! Everything we tasted was divine. The chopped bbq fried rice and white curry were out if this world!! I wish we could dine in cos the ambience looked really cool and I wanted to to try their cocktails but some other time.. i wish they took reservations for smaller groups too so can plan better to dine in.. all in all we devoured our meals and hope to dine in here the next time we visit Portland..

Yelp
Atmosphere: Bright, lively, and fun atmosphere. This is a place that you want to come to and not get take-out. There can be a wait though. For a quicker wait time, it may be best to go by yourself and try to sit at the bar. Food: The food was excellent. It is always regarded as one of the best restaurants and with good reason. Good portion size. Unique, delicious food. I had the Brisket curry but cannot wait to go back to try more. Price: Price seemed reasonable for how filled I was by the end of the meal and quality Service: The servers are nice but I would say the service was underwhelming despite the fact that there were plenty of people working. I waited way longer than I should have given that they had empty bar seats and told me that it would only be a couple minutes. Ended up waiting over 20 minutes to be seated because of the hostess confusion. Parking: Street parking

Yelp
Honestly one of the best meals I've had! We ordered a bit of everything from appetizers to fried rice and curries. Cauliflower appetizer was a big standout for me, but truly everything was outstanding. Also really enjoyed the creative and well-executed cocktails. We were fortunate to sit along some open air windows and enjoy the Portland night. I highly recommend if looking for some great Thai food in Portland.

Yelp
The dishes were all very flavorful and came out fast. The fried chicken was crispy and juicy though I personally would've liked more of a punch from the flavor. The lamb curry was fabulous with a distinct Smokey flavor, super unique combination of bbq and Thai. Lastly the fried rice was a nice side dish though I'd stick to the curries before turning to the fried rice dish. The service was great and the restaurant was decorated beautifully.

Yelp
EEM offers modern Thai cuisine with a creative twist, but it's definitely a spot to plan your visit wisely--dinner usually means a long wait. Luckily, we went during an off-hour and only waited about five minutes, which was a nice surprise. We shared two dishes: the smoked pork krapao and the white curry with brisket burnt ends. The krapao was a bit underwhelming since we were expecting fried rice but got steamed rice instead, which was also a bit dry that day. The white curry had an incredible broth, but the brisket burnt ends lost their smoky flavor in the mix. Service was a highlight--they were super attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Street parking is available, but it can take some time to find a spot, so plan ahead. I've been here for both lunch and dinner, and I'd say lunch is a better experience. It's so dark at dinner that I could barely see my plate! Overall, I'd give EEM a 3 out of 5--it's worth a visit for lunch or if you're in the mood for something different, but there's room for improvement.

Yelp
No wait on a Monday afternoon! Loved the indoor/outdoor vibes and the beautiful interior. Service was friendly, the chicken was yummy! I ordered too much for a party of 1 haha. The Thai milk tea with oat milk was good! Free street parking nearby.

Yelp
Eem always brings the elevated comfort experience, whether you're dining in or taking this magic to go. The white curry with brisket from Matt's BBQ was written up in the New York Times for a reason. The fried rice, cauliflower, and cocktails (and mocktails!) are all out of this world.
google avatar

James A.

Yelp
This place absolutely blew my mind. Wife and I shared a fresh greens salad, mushroom fried rice and the white curry with brisket burnt ends. The salad was very good, lots of great fresh greens and a salad dressing that was amazing and like nothing I've had before. The fried rice was flat out excellent. I love fried rice but often times it's far too greasy for me. This was perfection in every sense. Insane amounts of flavor, great portion size and just the right amount of oily. And then there was the star of the show. Everything about the white curry screams perfection. The broth is so flavorful and comforting. The cauliflower adds a nice veggie element and the burnt ends. My goodness the burnt ends. My goodness greatness the burnt ends. They melt in your mouth with enough flavor to last you a lifetime.

Yelp
I've been wanting to check out Eem for so long, but I haven't had a chance because they are always packed with a long waiting list. We decided to check in a on Saturday night which we got in an hour later. It wasn't too bad as we checked out the nearby shops! The cocktails were very unique, but it wasn't something I would gravitate towards. I decided to order the most recommended dishes, and it wasn't a disappointment! The White Curry with burnt ends was very different from your typical Thai curry. The bbq flavor paired well with the creaminess. The Papaya Salad was labeled as very spicy, but I decided to be adventurous. They weren't kidding about it being super spicy, but it was still tasty. My favorite was the Sweet & Sour Fried Chicken, soo much flavor and it was juicy! The BBQ Fried Rice was also a table favorite. It's on the drier side, but it compliments the brisket well. Overall enjoyed all of the dishes we ordered, left full and satisfied. Would recommend for a different Thai food and BBQ experience.

Yelp
Food is good and service is friendly. We got the sweet and spicy chicken, BBQ fried rice, and the brisket burnt ends white curry. Everything was flavorful, but nothing stood out as excellent. The white curry sauce itself was great, but the cauliflower and brisket in it seemed a little out of place.

Yelp
Eem does not take reservations for less than six guests. We took our chances and drove over and found that the line was about 1.5 hours long. As much as we wanted to eat there, we opted to go elsewhere instead. Yesterday, our last day in Portland, we arrived at 10:45 for a 11:00 opening. Being first in line, with a dog in tow, we were told that we would have to sit outside, which we had expected. However, she started to lead us to the front of the restaurant where there was no cover, and it was drizzling. I asked if we could sit in the covered area, and she explained that they had been doing construction there. I told her that since there was no construction going on, I'd rather sit where we could stay dry. She went and checked with her manager and came back, wiped and set the table for us. Thank you! All of the staff were friendly and accommodating. A couple came out to meet our Princess. I asked for a glass of ice for my water and they brought us three glasses of ice. They were also kind enough to let us over-order without making comments. We were only going to have one chance to chow down and we wanted to taste as many flavors as reasonably possible. My dining companions each ordered a non-alcoholic drink which they both enjoyed. Two of us bravely tried the Very Spicy Papaya Salad - 4 - (I was not one of them). They both enjoyed it and said that it was very good but also that it was not VERY spicy. The Hot Fried Cauliflower - 5 - was delicious. of course, I am a freak for Cauliflower and Broccoli. Our last appetizer was the Sweet and Sour Fried Chicken - 3 - . Although this is a very popular dish, I didn't like as much as other items we ate. The textures were different between the smaller and the larger pieces. The Roasted Mushrooms Fried Rice - 5 - was excellent during lunch and reheated for breakfast as well. Green Curry with Crispy Pulled Pork - 4 - I waited too long to try this dish. All of the Pork was gone. I think I got a sliver of mushroom and I can't remember what else. The Curry itself was good. White Curry with Brisket Burnt Ends - 5 - A mild coconut-based curry sauce that was made to be soaked up by white rice. It had some (more!) Cauliflower and was topped by some very well-seasoned Brisket Burnt Ends that were just phenomenal! We didn't really get to experience the vibe of the restaurant since we were outside in a somewhat isolated area (our choice), but we enjoyed the food and the service.

Yelp
We ordered a variety of dishes to try. I chose the white curry, wok-fried yu choy, smoked pork belly, chopped BBQ fried rice, and sweet and sour chicken wings. The sweet and sour chicken wings were the most flavorful dish I tried that day. The wok-fried yu choy had a generous amount of garlic, which I loved, but it needed a bit more salt. The smoked pork belly was good, but it didn't stand out and the portion was small. The fried rice had a nice wok aroma, but it needed more seasoning and the rice was quite dry. The white curry was enjoyable, featuring tender brisket; however, the addition of cauliflower was interesting, as it didn't soak up the flavors well and ended up tasting a bit bland. The two desserts were delicious, and I recommend both of them.

Yelp
I am glad to say my short stay in Portland ended on a high note with a meal from Eem! We went on a Monday night with no reservation (2 people), and ended up joining a waitlist for 1 hour which was ok since the surrounding area is nice to walk around and has some shops/thrifting. Eem is one of the most popular places to eat in Portland, and I can see why now for good reason. Their fusion menu of Thai x American BBQ reminds me of Cris and John back in Dallas, or Blood Brothers BBQ in Houston, but with much more emphasis on the Thai side of the fusion. All the food I tried was very flavorful (and spicy too, so spice-haters be warned), including the green curry which was very rich in flavor. My favorite items by far were the brisket fried rice, and crispy pulled pork green curry over rice. I also tried the Thai tea with Oat Milk, which I thought was very good, although I think next time I would ask for less ice. The interior is beautiful and modern, and even on a Monday night the place was packed and lively, definitely a great vibe and one of my favorite places I visited in Portland. Hopefully I can come back!

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a saturday and waited two hours. They had initially said it would be 60-90 min but it took longer than anticipated. They alert you via text message so we went to a nearby bar to wait. Overall the food was pretty good, and the meat quality in all the dishes we tried was solid. I got a cocktail that tasted like pickle juice which i wasnt a huge fan of lol. Very crowded inside and not alot of seating but it was good vibes both for friends and dates. I dont think it was worth a two hr wait, but if I didnt have to wait so long I think it would be worth a try!

Yelp
This was the best meal we had in Portland! We stopped by for an early lunch, as Eem was recommended to us by 2 separate people. It was delicious! My wife and I shared 2 dishes, and both were 5 stars-- we couldn't decide which one we liked better because they were both the bomb dot com!!! * white curry with brisket * pork belly dish Both were flavor packed. The meat wasn't overcooked. Both dishes also came with some vegetables, which was unexpected and nice.

Yelp
Eem was one of my favorite meals while visiting Portland. I was told it was a must visit and they weren't wrong! I'd highly recommend anyone go to Eem (except maybe, someone who hates spicy food, because their food has a kick!). My husband and I ordered two cocktails, (one slushy and one espresso martini), and loved them both. For food, we got the sweet and sour chicken, pork belly pad krapao, and the white curry with brisket burnt ends. I can't even pick my favorite of the three because they were that good!! The meat is so tender and the thai flavors actually complement the meat so well. I'd love to come back whenever i'm in Portland! We also came around 2pm on a Friday (straight off the plane after dropping off luggage, lol) and there was no wait!

Yelp
Without a doubt, this has become a Top 5 Restaurant for me. I'd heard good things about Eem and how it was a good restaurant in Portland, but I was absolutely blown away by the taste of the food. We started off with the very spicy papaya salad and field greens salad. Yes, the papaya salad is very spicy. It was still good though! But that field greens salad... the combination of everything together was just incredible. It's so simple too! If every salad was as simple and tasted like that, I would probably order salad more often. My favorite dish was the smoked pork krapao. The pork was cooked perfectly and the combination of flavors was special. I enjoyed eating it with rice. We also had the white curry and massamman curry. Definitely above average curries that I could've just drank as soup. For dessert, the mango granita with panna cotta was a fun play on a thai favorite that may have almost beat out the original. We were so full we debated dessert but were so glad we got this. It was unique, fun, and delicious. The drink options were fun but my favorite was the Black Silk Stocking. Someone in my group had the pickle drink and was not a fan. The worst part of this was actually the service. They close at 10 but we placed another drink order at 9:30 and saw them roll their eyes at us. I feel like that is well enough before closing time that it would've been acceptable. Fortunately the food made up for that. Overall, this a must-eat in Portland. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Yelp
Almost an hour and a half wait, but definitely worth it. We and the wifey went here on a Friday night recently and man, I wish I woulda got reservations. I'm not exactly sure if they do so just keep that in mind if you go Friday night. We ended up taking a Lyft there but parking seems kinda scarce. The restaurant is near a residential neighborhood so I think it's pretty much street parking. We put our name down and went to a nearby bar(Box Social: highly recommend btw). After an hour and a half we were sitting down for the feast. I definitely liked the interior. It had a hip vibe but I also just enjoyed all the greenery all around. Service was solid too. Despite the wait I do wanna highlight that Eem handles its crowds well. Not only were they accurate with the wait time but when you sit down and actually order, the food comes out fast. So I wouldn't worry about waiting too long once you finally get to your table. I mean we did make it easy on them. We started with a Fields Green Salad which was super flavorful. I might be biased because one of my homies got me on a tamarind kick. But man, paired with the apple and coconut crisps...It was pretty fun salad. You get a lot too. So definitely share with 2-3 peeps if possible. Alright. So must haves? The Sweet and Sour FRIED chicken. Yes I'm sorry. I had to highlight that it isn't your typical Sweet and Sour from like a Chinese restaurant. It is everything the name says it is. It's a perfect mix of Fried Chicken if it was fused with the Sweet and Sour Chicken. So that being the case, the chicken itself has a perfect crisp. But on top of that it's not super sweet or sour. It's addicting...Just like the Massaman Curry is. Am I the only one that loves to order this curry in the fall? It's so friggin homey. Not only does it have all my favorite veggies in it, but then you add Smoked Lamb Shoulder!?!? Come on man. I think after eating the fall tasting Pork Belly for lunch, I was just in the mood for more fall food. The food that makes you wanna chill on the couch and watch some TV in front of a nice wood fireplace. What an amazing way you end the day. I'll be back Eem. I'll be back...

Yelp
I hate to say it but their food was actually really good. My partner and I went to Eem on a Tuesday late afternoon (4:30/5:00pm) and it was empty inside. So we asked for a table since there was no one seated at tables or anything, but they said there's a wait and if we wanted a table it would be 1.5 hours. They said we could reserve through something, but they made it sound like it was a secret. So we decided to order to go since the tables and bar space were "reserved". We ordered the papaya salad and the pork belly. The papaya salad was actually Thai spicy, not the weenie stuff other places do. I was very impressed that they used real Thai chilis. The pork belly was tender and flavorful too. So I was genuinely surprised how fresh and tasty everything was. The lady in front or the hostess just rubbed us off the wrong way. Personally, I think they should accommodate at least 20-30% of the space to walk in customers, but that's just my opinion. Kinda sucked to see a whole empty restaurant and was refused to dine in. If they changed their system I would come back, especially since I'm from out of town.
