I’ve been backpacking for several years and I’ve never written a negative review before, but this time, I feel I have to.
From the moment I arrived, the reception was incredibly rude. The guy at the front desk told my friend the hostel was full, even though Booking clearly showed availability, and my dorm was half empty. I was supposed to pay 400 pesos, I handed him a 500, and he asked if I had exact change. When I kindly said no (I speak Spanish and I’m always smiling — not that it should matter), he rolled his eyes, muttered “Jesus” in English, and looked visibly annoyed. Of course, he did have the 100 pesos change.
The bathrooms were dirty, you have to pay for drinking water, and the atmosphere isn’t social at all. And the pool? It was completely green and full of algae — there was no way anyone could swim in it. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned or maintained in a long time.
But the worst part? When I woke up one morning, I was alone in the dorm with one guy, and he was standing completely naked in front of me. It made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unsafe.
Honestly, one of the worst hostel experiences I’ve had. I wouldn’t recommend it.
