Finally managed to get into 4 Charles Prime and it was worth it.
How to do it: If you are a walk-in, the restaurant opens at 4pm, if you are a party of 2 or 4 (any larger is not worth trying) I suggest someone be in line by 230/3pm. We arrived at 3pm and were the 4th party in line (party of 2) and just before opening, the host accepted the first two parties and we were entered into a lottery slot for any potential openings before 8pm and we managed to get a 630 slot.
Onto the experience… the decor is intimate and dark/rustic and all of the staff were very kind, accommodating and professional.
The wine and cocktail lists are extensive and offer many delicious options.
We ordered a lot of food, since it may be our only visit. Be prepared to take some home, as the portions are large and rich.
The sizzling shrimp scampi starter was excellent, filled with flavor and accompanied by crispy garlic bread. The cheeseburger was also excellent, though adding the bacon and egg makes for a rich and filling experience, if we return I would skip the bacon and egg.
The star of the night was the French dip sandwich, which we shared. The meat was so flavorful and the roll had a perfect crisp. The dip and horseradish together made for a perfect dish.
I also recommend the truffle Mac & Cheese. We took most of it home, and it heats up well the next day.
If you have room for dessert, the chocolate cream pie is a must.
It’s a rough place to get in, but it made for a nice experience, and worth the hype.
