"Just 25 minutes in either direction from downtown Vancouver and the U.S. border lies Richmond, where 65 percent of residents can claim minority status and almost half have Chinese heritage. It makes sense, then, that the town is also home to 4 Stones Vegetarian, a renowned restaurant specializing in Taiwanese cuisine, from spicy sesame vegetables to fried bean curd rolls in kung pao sauce. While 4 Stones serves mock meat, the best dishes are full of fresh, deftly handled vegetables—don’t miss the vegan gyoza, deep-fried curried broccoli, and stir-fried bitter melon with oolong tea. The simple decor and casual service may give some diners pause, but know that many vegans and vegetarians consider the scrumptious, plant-based fare among North America’s best Chinese food. Make a reservation for parties of five or more."

Sometime hard to find vegan Asian food but this place knows what that means and provides vegetarian and vegan options. Lots of amazing food. Helpful staff. Dine inner take out but order at the front desk and your food will be prepared fresh. Food was fresh and very tasty. Highly recommend.

Had this restaurant not been situated so far from where we reside, we would have patronized it every single day as the staff were friendly and their food oh-so fresh and palatable. They cater to both vegans and vegetarians. They have nearly a hundred items on their menu—it’s going to take us a couple of years to try everything on their menu as we’re sure that most, if not all, must taste just as good as what we had ordered this past weekend. The one-hour drive there was certainly worth it.

I recently dined at 4 Stones Vegetarian Cuisine in Richmond and had a delightful experience. The Sesame Sauce Noodle was a perfect blend of flavors, the Taiwanese Bao was exceptionally light and flavorful, and the Curry Vegetarian Chop was a tasty surprise. The menu showcases a creative selection of vegetarian dishes, making it a must-try for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. I highly recommend 4 Stones for a satisfying and delicious vegetarian meal.

Google
Such an interesting restaurant. Food was 10/10 and I will definitely be back! You have to order first before sitting and they only provide disposable plates and cutlery. I suppose it’s more targeted for takeout. Portions were great, especially since most dishes come with rice and soup. The iced passion fruit green tea was very good.

Google
I think this place it meant to be more for a take out rather than dining in, I came here for lunch with my work colleagues. I ordered Szechwan Vegan Hot Pot and I really liked it. The soup was super hearty, flavorful and scolding hot. The portion was HUGE, I ended up taking it home for my dad to finish and he loved it very much!

Google
This place has so many vegetarian options! It’s refreshing to go to a dim sum place where you can eat everything. Lately I’ve been trying to eat more vegetarian food but of course I don’t want to give up those foodie experiences! This place has a lot of creative dim sum dishes! We tried their BBQ “pork” buns, steamed dumplings, and bean curd. They had a lot of other great things we wanted to try but we were food crawling that day so a girl can only eat so much ;) We liked the steamed dumplings the best! But kinda pricey for just 4 dumplings. They were filled with veggie meat. The bean curd we were hoping to eat warm but I guess it’s also served cold. Regardless I think this place is definitely worth trying if you’re a veggie!

I got like 5 pieces of small vegetables. I asked for more (as this is even less than the meagre amount you usually get). They absolutely refused.

Google
Hands down thee best vegetarian restaurant in Richmond! I’ve become a regular at this place and typically order online through their website. Within 10-15 minutes, they always have my order ready to go. My go-to is their bentos. It comes with your choice of soup and white or brown rice. They also have walnuts and veggies as part of their side dishes, which is placed inside the main course. Their portions are generous and honestly enough for two meals. My tummy is always satisfied with anything from here. If you haven’t already, be sure to give them a try for yourself! Please like if you found this helpful! :)

Yelp
Snagged the parking spot out front which was nice. The place is small and still outfitted for Covid precautions. The menu is taped to the wall and you order at the till. There is sitting but we found the place kinda bland and chose to do take out. The ladies were very friendly and answered all the questions my vegan friends had on preparations. They have a selection of vegan Asian foods which is hard to find I was told. Now, the food was good and fresh. The MaPo Tofu was packed with wood ear mushroom slivers and silky tofu with a nice umami sauce. Noodle dishes were bouncy and the peanut sauce was silky.

Yelp
This place is fifty dirty and has not been cleaned in years. Bok choi looked like it was cooked several days ago not hours ago. I had high hopes but will not return ... this place is a health hazard. Food was substandard. Take out plates, cutlery, food not freshly cooked. Avoid this place.

Yelp
Neat lil cafe, slightly cozy. Currently, it looks like they're keeping their pandemic layout (half seating as before) so business might still be mostly take-out and little bit for dining in. Between the shelves and fridges of random products, the pick-up table, dining area and unused tables for staff supply, it may look like an organized mess to some. The bathroom is done a narrow path so anyone disabled may find it difficult to reach. I tried the vegan menu for these: seasoned stuffed bitter melon (BM), a side of rice and Taiwanese bao bun. The BM was pretty good but Vietnamese style is more my favorite. The bao bun was quite yummy although you wouldn't think it off the colors (the fillings looked slightly overcooked); I'd totally get this again. Rice is awesome to mix and complement anything, OF course. :) The lady up front was super friendly offering suggestions and stuff. Wonderful dinner distraction last minute after wandering around Richmond Centre. Check it out, would ya?

Yelp
4 years ago this place was ok, but it's getting worse. Why I am NOT coming back? 1. Food served in paper and aluminum plates. It doesn't taste good 2. Food court style - no service at all 3. Too expensive for vegetarian dishes $22 for veggie plate Come on! You don't serve food in take out plates and give us plastics forks. NOT in a dinning restaurant. That looks So cheap!!! But food price is not cheap. $22 for a vegetarian dish ( no meat). I can get a delicious chicken dish for $18 in another Taiwanese restaurant. Please Like if you find this review helpful! I will NEVER go Back again! It's in my blacklist! I would be more happy to eat at any Richmond food court and get more delicious dishes for a lower price.

Yelp
The food quality is the lowest I experienced over many years with vegetarian dining. There is no service, no self-serve water, and the environment is like in a Chinese grocery store. The price is high for the selections available, you feel like a rip-off when finished. We tried won ton soup, beef noodles, and a vegetable combo. A good portion was left untouched because of the poor preparation. The cook is very badly trained in our view. It should be rated with one star, the lowest possible.

Yelp
a group of us were here recently for a birthday lunch. But we agreed, one visit was enough. we were not too sure what was going on with the woman behind the counter, but she made us feel like we were contaminating the place. We were lectured about how she had to clean. She made it very clear that we were in her way, and possibly an imposition on her day. The food was quite ordinary food court kind of fare with no table service, but there was an inappropriate tip option on the credit card machine. One of the important aspects of working in a restaurant is to encourage people to return a second time but the staff failed at this. We just won't be back.

Yelp
=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE A hidden gem behind London Plaza along Westminster Hwy, 4 Stones may be the place to go to if you're vegetarian, or if you're like me, looking for good eats that at least seem healthy...without being too healthy :) === 2. FOOD Deep-Fried Radish Cakes ($8.24): nice but different - the radish texture is different than what is traditionally found in Chinese restaurant - it falls apart easily. The very thin batter / coating is nice, as is the peanut/hoisin sauce that accompanies the dish. Kung Pao Vegetarian Chicken ($15.39 for the combo): the sauce is a little salty and thick, but whatever makes up the chicken (tofu?) is a pretty good approximation! The combo includes rice, soup of your choice, a small amount of chow sum vegetable and tofu. Vegetarian Beef Brisket Stew ($15.39 for the combo): ...so it doesn't look like brisket and the tendon substitute looks just as odd, but the taste is pretty good - I just may turn vegetarian at this rate :) The sauce was just right without being too salty and a good choice with the rice. The choice of soup: vegetable or herbal - the former being tomato/carrot/rice-based and the herbal is actually good - the smell of dates/figs overpowers the nose initially but the taste is refreshing. === 3. SERVICE For takeout, it is good in English and Mandarin and reasonably quick. === 4. ENVIRONMENT The restaurant is only open for takeout at the moment but it looks like it would have accommodated a number of small tables in pre-pandemic times. With the open space, wheelchairs and baby strollers fit just fine; parking is a little interesting: there are two dedicated spots upfront but you need to get out of your car to move the objects (presumably there to reserve the spots) in order to park your car. The rest of the complex's lot is very small.

Yelp
This is a good place to have good tasting vegetarian food. Personally, I am not vegetarian, but I have been trying to minimize my meat intake. My sister recommended this place to try out since she's been coming here with her fiance. I love their food. They're very tasty, reasonably priced, and comes in good portions. If all vegetarian food tastes as good as this, I could convert as a full pledged vegetarian.

Yelp
Best kung pao tofu or just tofu that I've ever had in my life. Not the most beautiful place but the food is so so worth it.

Yelp
Went for lunch during open hours posted on Apple. They were closed, and the lady told me to come back later.

Yelp
4 stones gets 5 stars. Why, you might ask? - Purely vegetarian cuisine that is super flavorful, not too salty, and extremely creative with their dishes - Priced right for the amount of food you get What to get, in order: - Kung Pao Veg. Chicken: Yep, had to roll my eyes at the thought of this one, but this definitely takes the cake. Super flavorful, fully packed with veg. chicken. - Grilled veggie unagi: Looks like unagi, tastes like unagi, but it's tofu and bean curd. Wow. - Eggplant and Basil: Standard eggplant and basil dish, because who doesn't want veggies at a vegetarian restaurant - Veg Beef Brisket Stew: This was an interesting take on beef brisket. Chewy "beef brisket" with "fat" and tons of flavor This is a place with a small parking lot and a place where you need to order at the counter, pay, and then find a seat. Nothing fancy, but super delicious. Would definitely go back again if in the Richmond area!

Yelp
I loved there Kong pao tofu and bean curd the flavor was amazing and super fresh 10% off for take away Comes in a combo with rice and soup Very friendly Clean! Spicy and yum So much food amazing Small shop inside as well it is more for take away though - would not dine in by the looks

Yelp
We visited 4 Stones for lunch for the very first time, as we read good reviews about this place. The menu was very limited, and varied quite a bit from what was displayed on the website. The prices were very high given the small portions. We ordered the following: * Kong Pao Vegetarian Chicken - It was the best dish. Great flavour, crispy but the container was half empty with barely any vegetables * Fried Eggplant and tofu - It was bland and the container was half empty * Taiwanese Chow Mein - It was too soft, like overcooked spaghetti, bland and there was nothing much else in it. * Oyster Mushroom - It had a very crispy breaded batter, almost too hard and a little too thick. We could not taste the mushroom at all, because it was like we were eating a piece of toast. * Steamed Vegetarian Dumpling - The four tiny pieces in the box were so dry and chewy that we could not bite through it. We took it home, in the hopes that we could soften it up in soup * Side soup and rice with the first two dishes - We could not drink the soup, as we did not like the flavour. It was supposed to be a vegetable soup but tasted nothing like it. The restaurant is dated, and feels a little dingy. The women's bathroom bin was overflowing with used paper towels and a bit smelly. We didn't really mind any of that, as long as we got good food. It was the worst Chinese meal we have ever ordered in the Lower Mainland. Surprisingly, it happened to be in Richmond which was very unexpected. The only reason we gave an extra star is because the service was friendly and attentive.

Yelp
Loved their food I ordered the gyozas , bean curd appetizer and the vegan king Pao chicken . Also got the Chowmein noodles , and tofu in a black bean sauce Wonderful food , no artificial additives and everything tasted so natural Will be back

Yelp
Always tastes like real meat, it surprises me. The flavours are amazing and the sauce adds a special kick! Despite it only being take out right now, you get additional 10% off. Who wouldn't want to take it? It's amazing!!!!

Yelp
This was an interesting place. It looks sketchy from the outside, inside however is ok. The service was odd, did not realize on their menu it said we had to order at least one item per person so instead of giving us time to look a little more at the menu she just kept making things off and saying we could order something small which was still $9+ dollars. Felt like we were feeling rushed. All of their prices seemed very off based on what you get with the combo meal & full entree. The food itself was mostly really good. We ordered the Kung Pao chicken which was the best thing and most popular ordered. Definitely recommended. We ordered a tofu dish as well which was good but unfortunately do not recall what it's called. The stand dumplings were ok but the gyoza was delicious.

Yelp
The place is untidy and unhygienic. Ten years ago, this restaurant is decent for dining and the food was good. The decline may be due to the pandemic; I'm really not sure. Now, it's catering more to take-out orders.

Yelp
This place reminds me of my time in Taiwan!! I loved the curry cutlet with rice! The cutlet was SOOOO CRISPY! It's perfectly seasoned and is as big as my face! The rice came with the curry, cutlet, and side dishes including mustard greens and bean curd. The staff is very nice and accommodating. I've come to BC so many times but this is my first time here. It's safe to say, I'll be back again!

Yelp
How could vegetarian dumplings compete in Richmond, home of some of the best pork dumplings in the world?? Well, 4 Stones has found a way. Some of the best dumplings I've truly ever had. Cannot wait to return!!
google avatar

Yelp
I've been wanted to go here for ages! Reading all the reviews got me excited so I had high expectations and they delivered. Family run spot in Richmond. Good prices as well and lots of selection. I can't wait to come back and try more food. We ordered 3 dishes between 4 people and had leftovers. One hot pot, a spicy fried mushroom dish (SO GOOD!) and the wintermelon soup (SO GOOD!) Be careful of the floor, it's extremely slippery!!

Yelp
I visited this place with Zi Y. on a Friday night at 5pm. They weren't busy right at 5 as they just opened for dinner hours but became busy around 6pm. We were first timers at this famous vegetarian restaurant in Richmond and I'm so happy we came. We decided to bring our families here next time because their fake meat actually tasted really good. I haven't had meat in so long that I forgot what real meat tastes like so I can't compare it with real meat but I'll say that this fake meat doesn't suck. They served side dishes with a few choices of soup. They also offered white or brown rice. We ordered quite a few dishes for two petite girls, lol. Everything we ordered was delicious. Staff were so sweet, as well. I will definitely bring my friends and family here. I miss this place already!

Yelp
4 Stones was the highlight of my dining experiences in my weeklong visit to B.C. Tucked in the unassuming Minoru Plaza, it is a mere 500 meter walk from the Richmond-Brighouse transit station. I arrived at 7:30pm on a Thursday night, so service was speedy. Ordering is easy at this counter-service joint: simply browse the two double-sided laminated menus, make your selection and pay. If you order a combo, it comes with your choice of soup, rice (white or brown), a side dish, and fruit. The SPICY BEAN PASTE VEGAN BEAN CURD FISH pictured on the placard on the counter was my selection. Within ten minutes, my side dishes, soup, and rice arrived, followed by my steaming hot main dish, fragrant with fermented bean paste and ginger. I loved the contrast of textures between the springy bean curd fish, chewy mushrooms, and crunchy Chinese celery. My vegetable soup was flavourful and the side of slightly cooked spinach with vinegar was a great counterpoint to my spicy main dish. The portions were generous and I appreciated the fruit topped with sunflower and pumpkin seeds. If you are vegetarian and love Chinese food, don't miss this place!

Yelp
It's easy to give 4 stones vegetarian a solid 5 stars! Their lunch combos are priced above average (at $15) but their portions are large, quality is high and ingredients fresh. I tried the veg fish on cream sauce with rice combo with veg fried chicken and both were insanely delicious enough to make me plan my next visit so that I could try everything on the menu. The goji berries herbal soup that comes as a side with the combo is so nourishing and I want that recipe so I could have it everyday! Most menu items are vegan, and the rest are vegetarian. Veg food doesn't have to be boring!!! (look at the attached pics)- I would guarantee even non vegs would enjoy it. Don't forget to check out their fridge where they have assorted veg meats for home cooking. As a side note: hole in the wall type place with excellent service and clean bathrooms

Yelp
Pretty high ratings for a vegetarian place. Maybe I'm not a vegetarian and don't really see why it came out with 4/5 on yelp. They do have plenty of options to choose from with many meat dishes that were made into a vegetarian version. I did want to try their fried chicken nuggets but it wasn't on their menu anymore. So dishes I tried: - Satay Beef with Gai Lan (3/5): Now the beef tasted nothing like actual beef but that's ok. The dish itself renders 3 out of 5 because it was just ok in terms of flavour. I'm not looking for it to replicate the actual dish 'cause you just can't. Beef is beef and mock beef won't be the same. - 3 cups of burdock & Veg meat (1.5/5): The burdock itself tasted ok. The sauce it was in wasn't pleasing to the palate and didn't really speak 3 cups flavour to me. I wasn't sure if the veg meat was mixed in with the burdock but... I didn't see on its own. The veg that this came with was just cabbage. - Veg beef brisket stew (2/5): This was a tomato base stew with had veggies and mock beef. I'd say this had variety but again, the base was just ok. -Spicy sauce with veg beef brisket pot (2.5/5): This one had the same ingredients as the stew above however this one had a spicy pickled base and for some reason if you get this in a combo, you won't be getting the side dishes. You will however still get rice and soup. We got the combo and you get a choice of white or brown rice, chinese herbal soup or mix veggie and some side dishes. I thought I knew what chinese herbal soup was but ...let me tell you, they weren't joking when they said herbal. So be ready for some herbal taste if you decide to order this. I wish I had gotten the veggie option 'cause it was too much for me. So overall, I wasn't expecting this dinner to replace my meatful dinners but rather allow me to enjoy meatless nights while still enjoying the flavours of dishes I liked. However, it did not live up to expectations. I won't be returning as I could have spent $70+ having some delicious meatless dishes elsewhere.

Bryan F.

Yelp
Every time this place is amazing! They have some of the best food out there. Their range of options is fantastic, and their customization is equally so. We love their Kung Pao Bean Curd and Spicy Szechuan hot pot, but everything we've had there has been fantastic! Also, the staff is excellent. I can't recommend this place enough!

Yelp
The best Taiwanese restaurant I've tried in Canada! I'm so glad I made a trip out to Richmond. I came with a group of 7 for a late lunch on a holiday. We waited at most 5 minutes and ordered 9 entrees for a celebration. Service was great but maybe because we ordered a lot right at the beginning. Some of the entrees came with brown rice and herbal soup. Overall, a great experience, delicious appetizers and entrees. I would definitely visit again if I'm in the area! 1. Crispy Veg. Cutlet w/ Curry Sauce on Rice - MUST TRY 2. Grilled Veggie Unagi - SUPER GOOD 3. Mushroom Seaweed Bean Curd Roll - SUPER GOOD 4. Kong Pao Veg. Chicken with walnuts: Just the right amount of crispiness and sauce! 5. Tomato & Veg. Beef Brisket Noodle Soup - as good as vegetarian beef noodle soup can get! 6. Veg Beef Noodle Soup - tastes similar to tomato & veg. beef brisket noodle soup 7. Burdock & Veg. Meat Pot - comes with plenty of sauce that's great over rice. Burdock adds an interesting and fun texture 8. Spicy Sauce w/ Veg. Beef Brisket Pot - comes with plenty of sauce that's great over rice 9. Spicy Kimchi Chow Mien - this was served last. The plate of noodles was garnished with cute fried circular vegetable. It was great since long noodles and a circle are both great symbols of longevity, good luck and fortune. We were all super full by the time this came out so I don't think I appreciated this as much as I could have on an emptier stomach. Complimentary side dishes come in a tray partitioned into threes: 1. Mustard greens - really good, served with sesame oil 2. Cherry tomato, grape, cantaloupe, apple, dried cranberries, pine nuts and almonds 3. Aged/spiced tofu - could eat just this and rice for an entire meal

Yelp
Great little restaurant! Food taste great and with good service and large portions. They don't really take reservations but call 30 mins ahead and they will try to save you a seat. The parking is terribly cramped and limited. The decor is an afterthought. This place is all about the food. Go for: the food, bang for your buck Don't go for: crappy parking situation, small restaurant
google avatar

Chloe C.

Yelp
Radish cakes still my favourite item from here. Seaweed mushroom bean curd roll comes a close second. Gyozas here are good (considering that it's pretty hard to find good gyozas). New vegan bbq pork baos are tasty, the 'pork' is super tender and melt in your mouth but I wish the bao was fluffier. Crispy vegan 'oysters' are okay, nothing special. It's hard to find vegan food in Richmond so this is a decent option.

Yelp
This is a small vegetarian restaurant in Richmond BC. They are closed on Mondays. Went for lunch with a group of friends. We preordered our meals so we could be in and out in under an hour. All the dishes were enjoyed as we had been here before. I ordered the dumplings and lettuce wraps which were delicious. The restaurant is located on Westminster Hwy across from the Richmond Centre mall.

Yelp
Really did not like the process of lining up to order food and finding a table. We followed the process correctly but was very annoyed how people would find tables before they ordered. By the time we paid we still did not have a table. Once we sat down we were asked to stand up again for the table to be cleaned. Found things to be very disorganized. Was not a enjoyable experience and won't be coming back. The food was okay. It was nice to see a lot of vegan options.

Yelp
Very good vegetarian restaurant. The food tasted really good. The kungpow 'chicken' is a must! I have not had vegetarian Gyoza since I become a vegetarian. Best Gyoza ever. The udon noodles were good as well. Very large portions. Food was great but have to give only 3 stars given the service was very poor. But I guess that's expected at those smaller types of restaurant!

Yelp
My friend told me of this Chinese vegan product that would fool any meat eater. So I set out to find it. 4 Stones came up on yelp search. I never go to Richmond, but I decided to make the trek. The place is small and a tight entrance for those with strollers, scooters or wheelchairs. The pictures make it seem upscale and nice. Let's be honest, it's a room with some dated tables and chairs. Everything is vegan even though the pictures look like meat. I was so excited that I ordered the fried chicken nuggets and beef brisket stew. The 3 item appetizers is not appealing. Pine nuts on fresh fruit is fucking gross. The tofu I didn't try. The veggie was the only decent part. Fried chicken nuggets looked amazing. I was so stoked. And then I ate one. My biggest issue is the crispy/crunchy deception. You look at the pictures and think, "ohhh yeah, kfc xtra crispy goodness!" But what you actually get is a disappointing thin layer of crust that doesn't crunch. The beef brisket stew tasted like it's meat version. I could not tell the difference. The fake beef looked convincing too. But after awhile, I got this weird queasy feeling. It's the same feeling I got when I found out Subway essentially used micro plastic in their breads. I stopped loving everything and was concerned these Chinese fake meats might have stuff in it that isn't healthy. I was wasteful and didn't eat 1/4 of anything. And I didn't dare take it home. I'm pretty sure the waitress was offended but I won't return.

Jason F.

Yelp
This is one of the best restaurants in Richmond right now. The food is rich and satisfying, the prices are reasonable (they do not ask for tips when picking up, as it should be!) and the staff are very fast and professional. The ingredients are also very natural and will energize you, not leave you in a food coma afterwards. Whether you're vegetarian or not, you'll love the entire menu. I'm tempted to get a job in the kitchen just to steal the recipes for myself, but until then I'll continue to order from here every 3-4 weeks at least. My only recommendation for the restaurant would be to switch to paper takeout packaging where possible. Number 5 plastics are not allowed in Richmond recycling bins currently.

Yelp
Pretty good vegetarian restaurant Kung pao chicken-3/5 Very flavorful the fried part got a bit soggy near the end, felt like there was a lot of reading. Salt and pepper chicken 3/5 Flavor was a bit different from the traditional Taiwanese popcorn chicken, but still good. I dipped it in the Kung pao sauce

Anand S.

Yelp
Excellent vegetarian hole-in-the wall restaurant. The food was delicious. We had curry tofu and Kong pao tofu along with fried oyster mushrooms. All were really tasty. As vegetarians we love stumbling onto great restaurants like this. Kudos!

Yelp
Avoid this place. Charge 50 cents for a cup of water and no refills. Excuse me? Took a year to bring the water and two years for the food. Seriously? Terrible restaurant for pathetic vegetarian.

Yelp
I've recently transitioned to veganism, and this has been the best vegan experience so far! Came with my mom and we both were delightfully surprised. Service 5*: I'll start off here as I read some reviews that were bashing the service. My experience was great. The waitress/hostess explained to us in Mandarin the menu as we sat down. My mom's Mandarin isn't that good, so I asked her to explain in English so I could understand. Luckily her English was good. She patiently explained the different dishes and let us know that they could remove dairy products from certain vegetarian dishes as I told her I was vegan. All in all, she was patient, polite and helpful. 5* for service, especially considering this is a chinese restaurant. Food 5*: Food was superb. We ordered the vegan gyoza, vegetable (gailan) in satay sauce, "fish" in spicy, numbing broth (forgot the name), and the noodles with veg "meat" sauce with sliced cucumbers (ja jiang mien). The ja jiang mien was the highlight. Every component of the dish was on point. The noodles were fresh and had that spring to it when you bite in. The veggie "meat" sauce was simply amazing. The "fish" in spicy broth was excellent. Great flavors and the fake "fish" (made of bean curd) tasted good and had a close resemblance to fish texture. The gailan in satay sauce was very tasty as well. Sauteed with mushrooms. Yum. The vegan gyoza was the least favorite dish, but pretty difficult stacking up with the previous 3 dishes. Flavors were good but the texture of the stuffing was mushy and not the most pleasant. Atmosphere 4*: This is almost a hole in the wall, so don't expect too much. However, it was clean which is the most important. Suffice to say I found my little gem here in Richmond. Hoping I can find somewhere this good back home!

Yelp
Love this place. My dad and I have been coming for over 10 years. It appears that recently they may have change management. They now require you to pay over the counter. Most of their options are vegan friendly. Very flavourful and more Taiwanese style vegetarian cuisine. It is on a pricier side but there are a fair amount of food. You can see that they put a lot of love and effort in their food. Totally recommend, even if you are not vegetarian.

Yelp
Atmosphere: There is a bit of a hole in the wall vibe, however, I recommend coming here as you will not be disappointed. Service: Not friendly. The instructions for ordering the items itself was confusing which may have added to her slight hostility toward me. Price: Market value. Food: For a vegetarian place there was a lot of selection and I was slightly overwhelmed...in a good way. The portions are large and respectable. The fake vegetarian fish on rice was actually surprisingly decent.

Yelp
This is one of the best vegetarian options in the Greater Vancouver area, and I rarely go to Richmond without stopping in here, if only to grab something to bring home. They have an expansive menu, including many dishes you would look for in a regular Chinese restaurant. The portions are good, with most options available as large dishes to share, or as a set for 1, with rice, soup, and a salad & fruit platter. If you are not sure what you want based on the menu, their TV cycles through many of their more popular items so you can simply watch that for a bit for suggestions. Either in-house or take-out, we always get an order of the Kung-Pow "Chicken" and most of the other dishes that I've tried have been very satisfying as well. They also have a wide variety of fresh fruit juices, and even if you weren't thinking about it when you walked in, the smell of fresh watermelon juice could change your mind. The decor is not 4-Star high-end, and might not be the best impression for a first-date, but if you're getting lunch or dinner with friends this place is great. Like I said, even if we're just dropping someone off in Richmond, if we have the time we almost always stop in here.

Yelp
This place has so many vegetarian options! It's refreshing to go to a dim sum place where you can eat everything. Lately I've been trying to eat more vegetarian food but of course I don't want to give up those foodie experiences! This place has a lot of creative dim sum dishes! We tried their BBQ "pork" buns, steamed dumplings, and bean curd. They had a lot of other great things we wanted to try but we were food crawling that day so a girl can only eat so much ;) We liked the steamed dumplings the best! But kinda pricey for just 4 dumplings. They were filled with veggie meat. The bean curd we were hoping to eat warm but I guess it's also served cold. Regardless I think this place is definitely worth trying if you're a veggie!

Yelp
This small restaurant serves wonderfully creative and quite tasty vegetarian/vegan Taiwanese & Chinese food. The dishes are high on originality and presentation, including some that are finished at your table. I got the spicy fried mushrooms as a combo, with a small cup of traditional hot & sour soup and some rice and small side dishes. When the spicy fried mushrooms arrived, I gasped audibly--it was beautiful! Lightly battered and fried mushrooms combined with a variety of other mushrooms, a spicy, earthy sauce, and a bed of mung bean sprouts were sculpted to look like a small basket. It was delicious and had a fair amount of spicy kick to it even though I ordered it medium. It was plenty of food, too, perhaps a bit too salty and oily but quite good. A neat feature here too is a digital television behind the cash register, which plays high-def little close-ups of different dishes on the menu, so you can get a good look at all of the things you'd like to try on your next visit.

Yelp
This place has always been a favourite for our friends & I... there's just a few things you should know of prior to going: if you have a large party (anything over 4 people), always make a reservation. Especially for dinner. Wait times can get really bad. Food: 5/5, always delicious! I can pretty much choose anything off the menu and it's a guarantee that I'll enjoy it. My personal favourite is the noodle soup bowls, extra extra spicy! Their appetizers are also very delicious too! Just a bit tiny considering the fact that we're paying practically the same price for a main. Delicious, though. The food is probably what brings us back. Customer Service: 3/5, don't expect the typical over the top western service. They've hired some new staff in the past year or so who have come a long way in comparison to the management and owners, but I'm still facepalming over the time we brought a birthday cake and then asked them to bring it up after dinner... and they placed it on the table, in the box and plastic bag and all, sans candle. Yeah. I can't even either. Ambiance: 4/5, it's the typically Asian restaurant set up. They've got a TV that rotates through pictures of the dishes they offer and I think that's the most painful part (seeing yummy food while waiting for yummy food). Ideally, the restaurant would be larger and could hold more people, but finding the space to do so is probably hard in Richmond. Heads up: Parking is a nightmare. Come early or park across the street and walk over! I

Yelp
4.5! I love this place. I was in Richmond for 2 days and I ate 3 of my 4 meals here. Non vegetarians can definitely enjoy the dishes here and not even think about the fact that they are fake meat. I highly recommend getting the bao as it is delicious and quite filling. Go with as many people as you can. I was by myself and could not order all the things I wanted to try. They also have combos that come with side vegetables, soup and rice. Toronto really needs to step up its Taiwanese food game. :(

Yelp
Atrocious. Ordered two entrees totaling $30 - teriyaki grilled veggie chicken and vegetables with curry sauce. The veggie chicken wasn't grilled - it was FRIED and very overcooked. The portion was also very small and it didn't even come with rice. I took one bite and threw the rest out. It was that bad. The vegetables that accompanied the curry dish were shriveled up & obviously exceeded their shelf life by a few days. This dining experience goes on the top five list of all-time worst meals ever. Most of everything got thrown out - horrible quality and extremely overpriced.

Yelp
So gross. There was a hair in the buns we ordered This wasn't our first time here but definitely our last. In the midst of paranoia in sanitation, we were faced with a Chinese vegetarian restaurant that seemed to have a lack of diligence with the matter.

Yelp
Some of the best vegetarian Asian food I've had. Their fake meats don't really taste like real meat but it does taste good. Love the friendly service- very welcoming. Lacked a little in food presentation but not to the degree I felt bothered by it. The food made up for it in taste.

Yelp
Huzzah! Me, a carnivore, loving a vegetarian place. Mind blown. I have had many dishes here now and these are my recommendations: Hot & Sour noodle soup : Lots of tofu and black fungus, broth was rich and noodles were great. Wintermelon Hot Pot : I love me some wintermelon....in the winter. Great for your "chi", it's full of healthy mushrooms and other veggies. Taiwanese Kimchi fried noodles: A large portion of some very tasty noodles, done in an authentic Taiwanese style (very much like street market fare in TW). Deep fried radish cakes: like the ones they serve @ dimsum, but much less oil and no chinese sausage. PS. Parking lot sucks. I give it two thumbs up!
