I had a great experience at 45th Parallel Restaurant! From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel genuinely welcome. Their friendly, attentive service added a warm and personal touch to the entire visit. The food was excellent, fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. It's the kind of menu that offers something for everyone, and every dish felt thoughtfully prepared. What stood out just as much as the food was the atmosphere. It’s a perfect spot to relax and have a good conversation, especially with locals who bring even more character to the place. Don’t skip the homemade desserts, they’re the perfect way to end your meal. You can tell they put just as much heart into the sweets as the main dishes. Looking forward to my next visit already. Highly recommended!

We went over to Deer Island and on our way back, the line to get on the ferry was very long, and they only had one ferry running. We wouldn't have gotten back on the mainland until closer to midnight, so we decided to book a room for the night. The lady who answered was very accommodating, even though they were getting ready to close. Our room was clean, but would have been nice to have a radio or TV (our phones all died and we didn't have chargers, so it was a quiet) I also found it very hot, no air conditioner, but even a fan would have been nice. No big deal, just a suggestion to the owners. 😉 The price was right, and it even came with a complimentary breakfast! The lady who served us was super sweet, and they were the best pancakes ever! I would definitely stay here again. Thank you for your hospitality!

We drive all the way from Michigan out to Maine to vacation. While we were there we took the ferry over to Deer Island and happened upon this amazing little restaurant. It was the best food we had during our entire drive out and during our stay. Highly recommend! The seafood and coleslaw are absolutely delicious.

When I asked the owner of the 45th Parallel if the fish was as fresh as a roadside daisy, she told me I couldn't get fresher fish anywhere. From from the ferry off Campobello Island onto Deer Island, I was ready to take the $16.95 lunch special splurge—1 piece of haddock, a cup of haddock chowder, cole slaw. Now I've had plenty of fried haddock that completely failed. Thick batter. Caked on mush on the fish. This fish compared only with another meal I had almost twenty-five years ago, also in northern Canada. Mmmmm is all I can say. Delish is all I can say. Ahhhh is all I can say. Light and fluffy, fall apart fish. The secret? A 75 year old recipe that comes only with ownership of the 45th Parallel, an amazing roadside joint whose signs you can follow along the road directly to the sunny patio. Had a millionaire's money, I'd trade that tomorrow for the closely held recipes and the color of my passport. If only! O, America, you have much to learn about Canada's good taste and warmth.

We have driven past this gem many times on past visits to the island but this was our first stop for lunch and regretted we had not done so much earlier as the service and haddock bits special was not to be outdone. Our next trip to Deer Island will definitely include this one of a kind very special place.

This might be the only restaurant open depending on the time you come. We had the lobster roll and fish. The lobster roll was tasty, but lacked the proper amount of lobster for the price. Shoestring fries are better than krinkle (in my opinion) so those were good, but the fish was outstanding! I have to agree with other people who commented. The prices are a lil'high, but to be fair comparable. I've tried all the fish on Deer island. Oceanview is really good too, but they're very different (and not open Mon, Tues, Wed). Here at 45th the batter is like a very thin "beer batter" with a nice crunch and thick pieces of haddock. Very good! I cannot comment on the rooms we never stayed. I look forward to coming here next year and staying and dining again!

Best cheeseburger I've had in a long time! We stopped in to the restaurant for a late lunch while camping on Deer Island yesterday - the restaurant is very quaint and the property well kept. The menu is extensive and everything was enticing, but opted for the cheeseburger platter and it was delicious - a classic, diner style cheeseburger, perfectly buttered and toasted bun with a well proportioned patty and toppings. I have to say I regret not ordering the fish too because it looked equally as good. Service was great and we will return next time we visit this lovely island!

The rooms are a little outdated but still very comfortable. We had a great stay and will be back for sure. The fish and chips are the freshest you'll ever have. It's a small gem.

Anyone who does not stop by this 30 year old Deer Island tradition, and say "Hello" to Diane, will miss solid locally sourced food, in an immaculate, cozy, family friendly atmosphere outfitted in perfectly Canadian complimentary red and white checkered table clothes and curtains. The ferry from Campobello is AMAZING and so is this find for food, on Deer Island. BTW: 45th also has a motel!
