"One of the unique things about the Twin Cities is just how much nature is part of the urban landscape. Few places exemplify this better than Minnehaha, one of Minneapolis’s oldest and most popular parks. Here, visitors will find everything from limestone bluffs and river overlooks to a majestic 53-foot waterfall that freezes in winter. Explore the area via various walking and biking paths, or bring your furry friend to the epic dog park. There’s also a disc golf course, picnic area, playground, volleyball court, and wading pool, making the park perfect for family outings."

Yelp
I have heard about this place for a long time and was really pushed to go by the reaction everyone had when they reopened. We went on a Monday around 6 pm. It was still VERY busy, even for it being a weekday. I did not expect the super long line but it honestly went by super fast. I think the wait in line was worth it. One thing I really appreciated was that the drink/alcohol was separate from where you order food. That way, you don't have to wait in a crazy line if you just want a beer. I thought they had a good selection of alcoholic and NA beverages. When we finally got to order (have your order ready btw), the person who took our orders was very nice despite how busy and hectic it was. We were given a table number and told to sit wherever we wanted. There is an ample amount of seating which is great. It took quite awhile for our food to come out but once again, it is extremely busy. We got the oysters first and they were super delicious, fresh and sweet. Some of the best I've had in MN. When we got the rest of our food, it was amazing. The clam fries were straight up addictive. We couldn't stop eating them and actually focus on our meals. Nice chewy texture, good amount of breading, no fishy taste! The soft-shell crab sandwich was the first one I've ever had so, I can't say I'm an expert but I really enjoyed it. You get two whole crabs! It was crispy, well seasoned but still let the natural flavors shine. Definitely filling! The pickles that come on the side were really yummy and I believe homemade. My boyfriend LOVED his bay scallop tacos. They were absolutely loaded with scallops. They definitely didn't skimp. The number ( I think 3 if I'm remembering correctly) was more than enough. We left very happy and full. Would love to come here after a day at the beach.

Yelp
When there's a line, that's always a good sign!! Located steps away from Minnehaha Falls. Enjoy a nice walk around this beautiful regional park before eating. Food and Drinks: Clam Fries $16 Fried Oysters $19 Bakery of Fries $10 Shrimp Po Boy $17 Wine & Beer $22 My favorite were the clam fries. Rarely on menus so whenever I see them it's an automatic order and these DO NOT disappoint!! Fried and seasoned to perfection while still tasting the clams as if they were just picked from the ocean. Oysters and the Po Boy were just as amazing. Tartar sauce was on point but the coleslaw lacked seasoning. Overall, it's a must go to restaurant during the summertime. Make it there fast before they close for the winter.

Yelp
Ah, Sea Salt. So consistent and filling!!! The family went there today on a Monday at 4 pm. The temp was through the roof with a heat advisory in the upper 90's. Hot for sure! The good news was there was plenty of parking, and no line. We ordered red beans and rice, calamari, and our old standby, the crawfish poboy. The wife who isn't a seafood fan went to the sandwich line. We also got a beer, water (free on the main cafe side), and a lemonade for the kiddo. As you can see from the picture, they do not skimp on portion sizes. We had plenty of left overs to take home. Yummo. Despite the heat. Great value and portion size of you are craving some quality seafood. Don't forget the hot sauce bottles and the Sebastian Joe's ice cream!

Yelp
If you like seafood and sitting outdoors, this is the place for you! No AC, so be prepared! They have wine and beer that pairs up nicely with your food. You order at the counter and they give you a number so they can deliver your food table-side! There's an ice cream shop outside. Overall a good place to eat with friends and family especially if you're going to see the Minehaha Falls.

Yelp
I'm a Longfellow resident so it's no surprise that I visited Sea Salt. It's such good food. My favorite is the fish tacos, and a side of tartar sauce. Tasty breaded fillet, cilantro, onion, and 2 corn tortillas. I have family that order catfish and shrimp and they are always tasty. But I am loyal to the fish tacos. The view/atmosphere is great. Especially in warm summer days. Kids and dogs and the falls are 50 ft away. Love the at Its local to me. But recommend anyone to check this out. They also have added more beers on tap and have speciality labels too.

Yelp
Seafood with a view and your pup! Such a cool spot--right next to Minnehaha Falls, so you get to enjoy the sound of the water while you eat. The calamari was crispy and delicious, and the crab cake was solid too. Bonus points for being an amazing place to bring pets--my pup loved it! Only wish the tables were a bit cleaner, but overall the food and atmosphere made it totally worth it. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Stopped in at the beginning of the season on a weekday afternoon. I love softshell crab poboys but they need improvement here. The round bun falls apart and you really need traditional poboy bread. Add another crab too as they are small. Missed the gazpacho but too early in the season. The carrots were lovely. Always have the ice cream for dessert.

Yelp
Good value, well-seasoned, and well-prepared seafood options. And Sea Salt Eatery is right at the corner of the park so you can eat outside on nice days and dog watch. Service is friendly and relaxed. The food takes a little while to come out but what's the rush? When the food comes out, it is fresh and piping hot. The fish tacos were a lot bigger than I expected which was a pleasant surprise. The fish was flavorful and lightly fried so it wasn't greasy at all. I liked adding the hot sauce that Sea Salt had on standby which elevated the fish tacos. My partner also really liked the Ahi Tuna burger which was juicy and super tasty. The calamari was a nice appetizer and a great portion, pretty standard tasting. For the price, Sea Salt is worth every penny. No need to pay a fortune just for good tasting seafood. I also appreciate that Sea Salt doesn't hike their prices just because they're in a good location. If you're already in the park, Sea Salt is a great convenient option.

Yelp
My happy place! When this place opens, it means spring has sprung. I love water, sun, outdoor eating that's away from car emissions, fresh oysters, and cold red wine. How'd they know?! It's actually my fave place to have fresh oysters. They're the best here! The calamari, crab cakes, and fish are great. They do seafood pretty well considering it's a bistro style spot. The po' boy sandwiches and other food is good too. They have great ice cream and I'm not even into ice cream like that. The tap beer is good. They usually have a beer truck set up just outside. They do have limited indoor seating and a neighboring covered dining room. This area is always busy of course. Minnehaha Falls are a major attraction. I love being able to get light exercise on the fly walking, climbing stairs, or riding surreys. Great family outing. There's a playground for the littles.

Yelp
I genuinely enjoyed this little outdoor "shack" style restaurant after a hike through minnehaha park. Beware it does get busy during high time/ weekends so lines may be long. We waited in line at noon on a Saturday behind 20 people. The food you order separate than the drinks. Beers/ seltzer were available. The food was a little slow to get out to us. First come first serve for seating. However I really enjoyed my fish tacos (grilled not breaded which is hard to find) and they were really reasonable for pricing. Fun place to come when the weather is nice out!
google avatar

Charity M.

Yelp
Pros: Everything we had here was delicious! Cute casual spot. The staff were friendly and helpful. Off peak times are best! Worth the trip. Cons: We went at lunch on a Saturday and the line was insane. We waited almost 30 min outside the restaurant, just to order. There is no online ordering available. The kitchen appears to be staffed mostly with high school/college kids and they move SLOW. It took us about 30-40 minutes to get our food. As someone who has worked in several restaurants myself, there seems to be a lot of wasted time by staff having conversations.

Yelp
I got the smoked trout sandwich that's on their chalkboard menu and it was super good. Smokey flavor was great and the bread was toasted. My friends got the fish basket which was also delicious. The breading was crispy and the fish wasn't dry. Super great summer meal, we waited until after lunch rush because the line was so long. Went in line at about 2:45 pm, ordered and waited for the food for about 25 minutes. They also have a great selection of local beers.
google avatar

Charley B.

Yelp
Sea salt eatery was good - the line was insanely long, but on a nice day, you can observe the outdoor park and grab a drink indoors at a smaller bar while you wait. The crab cakes were awesome, the grilled mahi fish tacos were a bit dry. Overall, the outdoor set up is pretty awesome, especially with the Minnehaha falls being right there to explore and people watch :)
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
So I know the go-tos are the fried options here, but as a Californian I came in the heat of summer and the smoked tuna lettuce wraps on special were delish and I even have room for a beer, some ice cream and a Juicy Lucy elsewhere for dinner. They also seemed to arrive faster than the fried options. If you have the time, the last time I had the crab cake po' boy and it was amazing.

Yelp
A family-friendly location featuring seafood, craft beer, and outdoor seating. Located at the well-known destination, Minnehaha Falls, Sea Salt Eatery ensures fresh, tasty food, plenty of seating, and the soothing background sound of the falls. Our group visited over Labor Day weekend. We inched along in line like a ride at Disney World but chatted and didn't mind the long wait. Once at the ordering counter, we could also order beverages. Craft beer, kombucha, soft drinks and other non-alcoholic beverages were available. Water in cups was self-serve and free. A separate beer stand exists for quick service. I checked out the specials menu while waiting and ordered the "Sexy Ahi Burger", cooked medium. Reduced balsamic and the grilled onion enhanced the flavor, along with the horsey sauce on the side. The flavors filled the taste buds to the max and I'd return for this 4 star "burger." Our group ordered fries and fried clam strips that I tried. They both were 3 stars. Clam strips were accompanied by the typical cocktail sauce (ketchup with horseradish). The very nearby falls are a great before or after dinner view and walk. Another challenge on a busy day beside the long waits for ordering and receiving, is parking. Pay per spot is an available on site with additional parking in nearby neighborhoods. Always pay attention to the signs along the street to make sure you're parking in a spit designated for parking.

Yelp
Before touring the Minnehaha Falls, my family and I ate at this restaurant. We waited in line for about ten minutes, but it moved fairly quickly. Around the restaurant are long picnic tables to accommodate large parties. I had the catfish po boy, and it tasted solid. Depending on how hungry you are, it may be safe to buy an appetizer, especially if you're sharing. Their fried calamari tasted great, and I'd recommend it. The restaurant has a lot of choices, including fried and grilled baskets and sandwiches. Minnesota is known for serving fried walleye. Here, it was a little too expensive in my opinion, so I decided to order something else. If you want dessert, they also have a small window to purchase ice cream. I tried the Minneapolis vanilla flavor, and it tasted really good. You could even taste tiny bits of vanilla beans as added texture.
google avatar

Keith M.

Yelp
Great spot near the Minnehaha Falls. This time, I had the Walleye with corn and potato salad. Very nice. Not my favorite walleye, but very good. It's an excellent environment to sit out and look at everyone playing in the park. You place your order at the counter, sit down and wait for your food to be brought out. Very casual and relaxed.
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
Genuinely the worst tasting seafood I've ever had. It was soggy, everything fell apart, and super bland and flavorless. I didn't even finish what I ordered.
google avatar

Michaela S.

Yelp
Great food, great vibes, get the walleye! The walleye was the best thing we've ordered. It was cooked perfectly and the flavor was amazing. I've only had walleye a couple times and this was by far the best. It came with wild rice and some sides which paired deliciously. I also enjoyed the crab cake a lot! It was very flavorful and super delicious. The calamari was also very yummy and came out piping hot. The fried fish was a good option, but I might skip it next time. I wished that the baskets came with a side of fries or some kind of side instead of fruit or Coslaw. I felt like the prices were a little steep with the addition of the sides, but some of the servings are huge. I wish we could have gotten more crab cake or less fried fish. I would definitely come back, and would recommend for others, but expect to spend a bit!
google avatar

Samantha F.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed Minnehaha falls. It is a lovely and scenic setting. I appreciated the quality of food and the reasonable prices. The calamari was phenomenal. My kids finished their fish/chips and fried shrimp which was impressive. They don't typically finish anything. We had an assortment of tacos- ahi tuna, mahi mahi, and shrimp. Would pass on the shrimp next time and go for the calamari. Despite how busy it was, the service was excellent and friendly including the patient ice cream scooper who managed the demands of the twins.
google avatar

James H.

Yelp
Great sea food option in city. The oyster basket is great. There's usually long wait but the food is great and it comes out pretty quick once you order.
google avatar

Camille C.

Yelp
Love the falls, love the tacos. Sea Salt is a fav. The line is long and parking is tough but it's worth it. Can't get enough of the tacos.
google avatar

Crystal K.

Yelp
Don't let the line scare you, you can grab a drink while you wait and it only took 14 minutes to get to the front where a smiling cashier took our order. We found a table where we could hear the crashing water and in less than 10 minutes our delicious food arrived, another smiling employee. We had the shrimp po boy that had a little zip and toasted bun. A really good crab cake that was more crab than cake. And mahi tacos that were perfectly cooked. Nice beer and wine selections as well as NA options. They also have ice cream for purchase but we were full so we'll try that next time.

Yelp
I always read the comments section in the "36 Hours" series of the New York Times because locals will usually give tips that were neglected in the articles. I am grateful to the person that commented on the recent piece about Minneapolis because this was how I found out about visiting beautiful Minnehaha Falls and having lunch at the adjacent Sea Salt Eatery! Easily accessible via light rail from downtown, we walked the nearby Minnehaha Creek Trail and were ready for a nice seafood lunch! It was a beautiful day so that meant many other people had the same idea. There was a fairly long line but it only took around 20 minutes before we reached the front. That gave us plenty of time to look over the regular and daily menus - and to share a pint of their delicious cider while we waited. We didn't feel like having anything fried so we opted for one of their daily specials- a Cajun Ahi Po'Boy. We also ordered a Pickled Herring appetizer. We took our number and found a table outside on the patio. After around 10 minutes, a server came out with our order. We both agreed that the Po-Boy was absolutely delicious! Plenty for us to share! And the portion size of the pickled herring was also very generous! Thank you to the person that recommended this place!

Yelp
Sea Salt is one of my favorite summer spots! Not only is the fresh seafood delicious, but its views of Minnehaha Falls make it the perfect place to unwind. My go to items are the fried calamari & fish tacos. They have a wide variety of local beer, wine & NA beverages. The service is always friendly and quick as it can be a busy spot in the summer. Before you go don't forget to stop by their ice cream window and taste the delicious local fav Sebastian Joes ice cream! Parking is mostly street parking or there is also a pay lot nearby. They are only open seasonally from 11-9pm April-October!
google avatar

Clarissa C.

Yelp
Such a cool restaurant right next to the Minnehaha Falls Trail! They have a small paid parking lot ($2.50 an hour) that does fill up, so come early! You order at a counter, get a number, choose a table, and the servers bring you your food. The lines get VERY long, so come EARLY! We were second in line when we arrived 10 minutes before opening... but it's also because it was raining. The food was so fresh and delicious!! Their in-person menu is much bigger than what they list online!! We got the fried bay scallop tacos which came with a delicious corn salsa. I loved how generous they were with the portions, and the raw onions, cilantro, lemon, and creamy sauce came together absolutely perfectly. The fried fish po'boy was also so yummy, and the fish was fried to perfect. They gave us three huge fish fillets... I was shocked!
google avatar

Jerry V.

Yelp
Absolutely stunning location. Long line on the first non rain day in weeks. Very long. Quick ordering. Very expanded menu. Higher but still reasonable prices. Fast food delivery, 10 minute wait, arrive by cheerful server. Salad was huge, delicious. French fries large. Fried dish crisp. Bit heavy coating. Fries and fish were served cold. Not not hot. Not not warm. Yucky cold. Very disappointing. They were too busy to complain. Obviously dish up long before order placed and just served. Hopefully they can figure out a better method. And I realize they were swamped
google avatar

Tim C.

Yelp
I ordered a fried fish po boy sandwich and it was delicious! The fish was haddock, which is probably one of my favorites to deep fry - it was moist and tender on the inside, but not so much where it fell apart too easily. The amount of fish in the sandwich was incredibly generous. Honestly, it's probably easier to eat deconstructed with a fork versus trying to eat it as a proper sandwich. I also tried the deep fried clams as an appetizer and those were also tasty - it came with some cocktail sauce, which complemented the clams well. It's a fast casual restaurant, where you order at the counter and the food is brought out to you. There is plenty of outdoor seating as well as a good amount of indoor seating in the back. The service was prompt. Parking is available in the same parking lot as the Minnehaha Park, but that lot is paid parking. If you park on the street across from the Dairy Queen, it should be free.
google avatar

Jay B.

Yelp
Yup, Jon at SeaSalt is on a roll now. New sandwich shop inside the picnic shelter. Doll had the pesto and mozzarella sandwich, I had the London broil beef sandwich, both really good. It'll be fun to watch the progression as he tries out new ones.

David H.

Yelp
Had the mahi tacos, completely inedible. Way overcooked had to toss, line to long to reorder, fries were good.
google avatar

Ellie B.

Yelp
Big fan of sea salt anytime I go for a walk/hike at minneahaha! The line can get a bit long so prepare for a little bit of a wait to order, but everything tastes super fresh! I loved the crab cake basket. They also had ample outdoor seating for our group.

John B.

Yelp
A big disappointment today. Shrimp was awful. Mealy and cold and tasted like bleach (or was prepped in a container that was disinfected with bleach). Grilled mahi taco was cold and rubbery. We were cheerfully offered a new meal but it's a long long wait. Overall, not worth the expense and time. We've had good meals here once upon a time but won't be going back again.
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
Celebrated a family birthday here tonight and the food and ambiance was spectacular for an outdoor patio cafeteria style experience! The staff seemed to handle the long 30+ minute lines and our food was out in about 15 minutes.
google avatar

Athena A.

Yelp
I've seen this restaurant here since 2012. It has always been a tourist attraction with its delicious seafoods. I don't see many people using Yelp in Minnesota hence the few reviews. It's definitely worth a visit if you are into casual vibes. People sit on the benches in the sun and eat. Make sure the weather is alright or else you would be frozen or sunburnt depending on the season.
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
I only get fish tacos here, so should you. I'm told their fried fish is good, side of fries equals fish and chips. Who knew?
google avatar

George L.

Yelp
Came across this place after looking at Minneapolis and I have to say it was absolutely worth the trip! Note that it's mostly outside so it's closed for winter. I like how within walking distance to Minnehaha falls, you get a beautiful pavilion serving food and drinks for your bike and walking needs. There are bike rentals and other rental stuff nearby if you want to do group pedaling or those carts that zoom around when you pedal, Idr the name of those things but those are there. So the food: The seafood options and beer choices are great. I had the fried fish sandwich and calamari. Both were crispy and delicious. The wait wasn't too bad at 3pm and it says that the service charge goes into paying the workers a fair wage which is a plus. There's plenty of seating and still busy but I can imagine it even busier at like 1pm. Overall, a must visit for anyone visiting Minneapolis and especially so if you like biking!

Dan F.

Yelp
Awesome food! We had the Walleye. Cooked perfectly and so good! Worth the $! Lots of employees keeping the food moving and seating area clean.
google avatar

Anne C.

Yelp
My favorite outdoor place for gathering with friends in the summer. Great for a large groups and a must for soaking in Minnesota sun after a long winter. It is located in Minnehaha park with plenty of surrounding green space and just a few steps away from the beautiful Falls. Delicious, fresh seafood. A variety of beer options to compliment. My only qualm is the lines can be quite long, but the wait is always worth it. Easy paid parking lot close by. There are also often free street parking spots across the street from DQ close by.
google avatar

Donna D.

Yelp
The line looked long but moved quickly. I enjoyed sitting outside. I got a sandwich and it was HUGE. My seafood-loving husband was so happy with his sandwich as well.
google avatar

John Z.

Yelp
This place never disappoints! We stopped there in a bike ride yesterday and were blown away as always. Long line, but moved pretty fast. I had the special Cajun barbecued shrimp. It was fabulous - literally as good as I've had in New Orleans. My wife had the Panko crusted walleye, which was really tasty and crunchy . The beer selection is always unique and extensive. Such a fun place to go. !
google avatar

Shaun J.

Yelp
This place has a super convenient location if you are going to the awesome Minnehaha Falls park. Seating and getting in line to be served is competitive. Get there early and have someone save a seat. My kid saw some kind of conflict where one large group needing three tables made a couple leave claiming they reserved a table. When you get through the line to inside, you're greeted with a lot of alcohol. Only once you're at the counter do you see a small sheet of information showing non alcoholic drinks. I ordered the crawfish poboy. It tasted ok and was was actually a lot of food. My wife's salad dressing spilled when the employee set it down as the tables aren't designed for the little cups the dressing comes in. I don't get the appeal of the place once you factor in the lines and competing for tables. It just doesn't have a family friendly atmosphere you would associate with a park. So it's ok, but overrated for my experience.
google avatar

Yolanda R.

Yelp
Food excellent. My favorite is their French fries and shrimp poor boy sandwich, which is plentiful and cooked very well. Atmosphere - very lively as an open outdoor park eatery with some indoor seating. Service is friendly, however, the lines can be long to order food. Worth the wait, as the servers will find you at your table to deliver ordered food.
google avatar

LeaDan Y.

Yelp
Definitely a must if you're in the area! Diverse seafood options, but we had to get oysters! If you're here on the weekends, grab your beer first, then stand in line for your food. We visited on a weekday and the place still had lots of people. For the full experience, make this stop part of your park walk. Bikes, waterfall nearby, live music sometimes, it's just the perfect spot for sunny weather.
google avatar

Alison K.

Yelp
This spot has been on my list for years. The stars aligned and we are our hearts out. We ordered at the counter and found a great outdoor picnic table to sit at. Amongst us we ordered the following: Fried shrimp basket Calamari starter Fried fish tacos Swordfish tacos- lunch special French fries. Everything was fantastic but the calamari and the swordfish tacos took the winning ribbon. We ended up with two baskets of fries between the 3 of us and 1 was plenty. They have a separate drink line which is smart because the food line is consistently long. But don't let the appearance of a king line dissuade you, it's worth it to eat fabulous seafood while sitting outside with your favorite people! There's a little ice cream shop too, we didn't have room but it was tempting. Eat as much as you can because you can always walk it off and see Minnehaha falls after you stuff your beautiful faces.
google avatar

Ellie B.

Yelp
This place is a gem of Minneapolis, right next to the falls and a perfect place to get a beer after hiking around Minnehaha Falls. They have three different lines, one for food, one for beer, and one for ice cream. The line for food is often very long but they are pretty efficient and find you at your table with your number. There are not very many vegetarian options because its pretty much all seafood but I love to go there for some beers and stay for the vibes, perfect for a sunny day.
google avatar

Erin R.

Yelp
Always a good meal when we visit Sea Salt. This is a must stop when we visit our son at UMN. Good size portions, I always over order but love to have different options to share and try.
google avatar

V W.

Yelp
We enjoyed an ice-cream at Sea Salt in Minnehaha Park and it was the best ice-cream I'd had in a very long time. Very creamy, good quality. It was $5 for a single scoop (June 2024) and came with a good spoon! There's lots of outdoor or sheltered seating. Bathrooms are nearby in the building in case your hands get sticky!

Michelle R.

Yelp
Normally I am very satisfied with the food I order at Sea Salt. I have my favorite, which is the grilled catfish poorboy. That sandwich is always tasty and succulent. I often try to order the seafood stuffed avocado, but they are usually out of that menu item. Today I ordered and received the seafood stuffed avocado. The stuffing was good, but the avocado was not ripe and was hard. Instead of my usual grilled catfish poorboy, I ordered the grilled Mahi Mahi tacos. Unfortunately, although it had good flavor, the Mahi was overcooked and dry. Another fail. Overall I was disappointed with today's meal. Basically $23 worth of items that were inedible. I will return but will stick to my tried and true favorites. Besides the grilled catfish, these include the fried catfish, pickled herring, French fries, peel and eat shrimp, and crab cakes which are all very good.

Visited 6/24/24. The biggest thing for anyone coming here is to understand that you will wait in line. It's a busy spot with lots of tourists and locals alike and it serves great food. Thus, it will always have a line. If you are fine with waiting, then do it up but there's really nothing else they can do to speed things up. Hot tip: one option is to grab a beer from the other area with less lines and sip it while waiting. In my opinion, this place is always more than worth the wait. So many great seafood options that never miss. On this occasion my mom and I went with splitting the fried fish tacos and the clam fries (aka clam strips). With the clam fries we both agreed that we could've split them with even more people because the portion was so big. We're big clam strip people so we enjoyed them. The star of the show were the fried fish (haddock) tacos. Despite them not having that many ingredients 59 them, the simplicity is what makes them so good. The batter of the fish has the right amount of crunch with smooth and flaky fish on the inside. Serving them in a delicious corn tortilla with a few toppings makes for an awesome meal. We didn't get any alcoholic beverages because we were biking but the array of options that they have is always impressive. Sea salt-it's always a wait but it's always perfection.
